state sponsor of terror, what would a better relationship with them look like? >> it would have to involve some sort of idea of what role they would play in iraq for example. and it would have to involve their backing down and assisting in a political solution in syria and none of it is going to be pretty by the way, it is a rough neighborhood and a lot of interest at stake especially the saudi interest as well as the israeli. >> if i could ask you about that. we received a report by the way of the wall street journal that the saudis are working with south korea as a nuclear partnership and the saudis are preparing for a nuclear arms race in the middle east. what do you think of the deal with south korea and signifies? >> i wouldn't assume they are looking at a nuclear program yet. they are working with south

korea building a number of reactors for a civilian nuclear program to handle the power needs, and the saudis have those needs and talked about a civilian nuclear program. it is one to look to convert to military use if iran has a nuclear military program. >> and that raised the eyebrows about the source of energy. and let me ask you about what you heard from secretary kerry this weekend? secretary kerry is negotiating with the foreign minister of iran and during the questions about that, there was a question of the way it is in syria. and take a look at this.

that robert durst sent and the lettering looks identical. that is a usable piece of evidence right? >> that is a usable piece of evidence. why wasn't the letter sent to susan discovered a long time ago? she's been dead. you don't need a handwriting expert to see the lettering is ident ical. and even with those two sampleses he could say, i was a suspect in my wife's disappearance/murder and i walked in and saw my friend dead and i didn't want to let her there rotting and he could do that and walk on the murder as well. >> he is represented and it is noted by one of the most capable defense attorneys out there. and is there enough room for

reasonable doubt? >> i disagree as far as the letter. and he might have left because of killing his ex-wife. what we have here is circumstantial evidence. and when a jury puts it together. there is a chance they come back with a conviction. he misspelled the word deverly and handwriting is the same. i think there is a strong possibility of convicting based on the evidence. >> his case has fascinate the people in the new york area. he is estranged from the real estate firm his father founded here. we'll keep an eye on it. >> and a powerful u.s. senate committee is now launching a bipartisan probe in to funding

tom, look being in the new documents that were released from bin laden's lair. they talk about ransom pay. what is the significance of that? >> we learned that al-qaeda had their hand in the kidnapping and hostage taking of an afghan diplomat. they work with other groups in the area and basically get a high ransom for him. and it comes in at $5 million. that is it a lot of money and part of that came from cia funds given to the afghan government. you can see bin laden suspects part of the money came from the u.s. and shoes you how in tune he was with things. he was very much on top of things and in control and suspected part of the money came from the u.s. and he basically tells the guys wash it and exchange it for currency and get rid of your bags and they could be tracking it.

but we talk about it in afghanistan and pakistan. and we are continuing to try to target al-qaeda that way, what is this revealing to us about other strategies and how well that is working against the bad guys? >> if you look at drone campaign. it decimated al-qaeda and had al-qaeda on the ropes there are no questions that pargraphs are having a big affect. and all of the things they are say issing to survive the drone strikes and took a number of active measures. and we had leaders coming back from iran and approving a new generation of leaders. there is researches to the spy planes and obvious that they could easily see the drones and hear them. and heard them. and anyhow they were coming and figuring out ways to get away.

and then we're going to watch the potential for a couple of other little storms that are going to inch their way in towards the northeast. this one is going to be a little bit too warm for an all-snow event although northern new england could get several inches of snow. then we'll watch another clipper system as we head into wednesday and thursday and we have some cold air on its way, can you believe it? i know spring arrives on friday but maybe not for the northeast. we have another plunge of arctic air moving into the great lakes the northeast on thursday and into friday. and this seems to be the pattern as we head into april for the northeast. the rest of the country, though, it feels like springtime. 82 in kansas city. 90 in phoenix. 79 in little rock. two-thirds of the country are enjoying some very nice temperatures. however, that cold air will sink southward across the northern plains, the great lakes. in some cases, 10 to 20 degrees below average for the northeast. so we're not quite into it yet. spring, of course, arrives on friday. we think.
