tv   Red Eye  FOX News  March 20, 2015 12:00am-1:01am PDT

12:00 am
we will see you tomorrow night right here at 7:00 p.m. eastern. go like my facebook page, go to facebook and search greta van susteren and like the page. it's that easy. plus it's fun. good night from washington. see you on gretawire, too. previously on "red eye." >> welcome to "red eye." >> from you going to pass out in front of a doorway, do it in america. >> i will say yes. no. when i had the puppets it was easier. >> this will be the best show ever. >> people had no idea. >> since the essence of "red eye" is commenting on things you know nothing about. >> you used to wrestle under the name. >> it is where that man went before. >> we'll see you next time. >> do not attempt to adjust your television set. i'm black. hello, everyone. i'm sherrod small. welcome to "red eye." first we got one of the favorites. the show that only had me on once give it up for jedediah bila.
12:01 am
you know her you love her she has a show this weekend. if you want to go to it saturday is the opening. you know him, you love him. it is tv's andy levey. >> and he is the judge to my eddie murphy. sitting next to me, the tv, writer and producer and the founder of ricochet.com. >> thank you very much. >> a block. the lede. that's the first story. >> our socialist kenyan-born president wants you to -- who wrote that? >> on wednesday obama said the u.s. should consider mandatory voting. >> it would be transformative if everybody voted. that would counteract money more than anything. if everybody voted, then it
12:02 am
would completely change the political map in this country. >> meanwhile, espn's steven a smith has bold ideas about voting. >> what i dream is for one election, just one every black person in america voted republican. >> smith was giving a lecture at vanderbilt went on to explain why. >> did you know since 1964 the -- black america has not given the republican party more than 15% of its vote. it is one party we don't give a damn about. some of the other parties you have our vote. >> boyaka. once they know who you are voting for your power is gone. >> we are america and we are better so we are not supposed
12:03 am
to mandate that people do stuff. this is typical obama stuff big government stuff. whether it is health care and voting, they want to tell you what to do. the last thing we need is more people going to the polls who aren't interested in politics and are disengaged and are only voting because somebody told them they had to vote. >> first of all, when i have to vote now i have to wait in line for like 45 minutes to an hour. that's 10% of the people voting. if you want everybody to vote it will be like dmv times 250 million. robbie, what do you think? >> it is the lines that keep you? here are the countries the president want to join congo, egypt, paw raw -- paraguay. i can imagine they say now? now you tell us? imagine he said that november 1 of 2012. that was different. >> mitt romney is busy right now.
12:04 am
is he getting ready for a boxing match? >> going to beat up another black guy. >> i still think romney would have won. >> we have enough laws and enough rules and jedediah is right. there is no reason for you to force yourself to vote if you don't want to vote. keep your ignorance at home. do you think people are close to the issues? >> a lot of people who don't vote are young people who when they do typically vote with minority and immigrant groups, obama wants them to come out and vote because they would vote democrat. i think a lot of this is coming from the mid-term elections. roughly 37% of people came out to vote for mid-terms. maybe people aren't voting because they realize regardless of who they vote for, who they put in it is not going to help if you have a president who vetoes everything everyone offers. >> wouldn't it help if you take mid-term out of the term of voting? what do you think? >> i think you can have my vote when you pry it out of my
12:05 am
cold, dead hands or something like that, but that makes sense. i don't know. i couldn't think of anything else. i would not vote if it is compulsory. i am not going to do it. are you going to throw me in jail for not voting? >> how would they even force a fine? >> wait a minute. that's what you said about health care. >> you fine people for that. >> look, obama -- he makes a simple mistake. they talk about money and politics like they are somehow unconnected to the power they have and the amount of money they spend. the reason people spend money to influence voters is because the government is huge and spent a lot of money with a lot of taxation. >> there would be more money spent. the whole market would be flooded with money. you have more people you have to convince. they know there is a segment of the population that know. if they knew those people would have to vote or pay a fine or something, imagine the
12:06 am
amount of money that everyone would be spending. you wouldn't be able to turn on the television. >> and where does this end? i will be forced to fill out a march madness bracket? >> do you think he has a point? >> i liked what he said later which is correcting facts about the civil rights movement. civil rights was pushing for desegregation. the left owns the movements. they have claimed the civil rights movement and the feminist movement and they made african-american voters voters and female voters that the left is their ally. they said hold on a second. maybe it is not what you think and you should give this other party a minute to explain themselves and invite them to make their case to you instead of ignoring them. >> i agree. it is like putting an ÷% exclusive title on a relationship. once the guy knows he has you, he won't woo you anymore. you want the woo right,
12:07 am
jedediah? >> that's right. i want the woo. >> you want to give the milk for free? >> i will charge an inflated price for my milk. >> and you will get it. >> steven a has a point that blacks shouldn't want the democratic party to take them for granted, but at the same time, the vast majority of black people are voting for the democratic party because they believe that party better represents their interests. >> has it been? >> better than the republicans. whether you think it has or not -- >> i think it has because the republicans are not looking for us. but they say we will open the door for you that you want to talk about and will help us vote for you. >> what does that mean? aren't you sick of the politics that -- it is synical on both sides. republicans all they need is the 35, 36% of the latino votes and they get them and they are competitive. they don't need the black votes. they don't go for them.
12:08 am
they are looking for suburban whites, working class whites and latinos and they have a coalition. >> that's what i am looking for when i am out mugging. >> as much as i agree with what he said i am sick of the talk about how we need to divide people. i think there are a lot of african-americans who would do well and agree with the republican party and should vote republican and there are a bunch of liberal african-americans. >> i agree. black people are more conservative on almost every level, but they don't feel like they are getting reached out to by the republican party even though you share the same values. >> that's the thing. it is thought about pan doring. pandering. it is about taking the message of opportunity and jobs that everybody cares about, school choice for communities that are poverty stricken taking the message and not afraid to go into african-american communities with your message. go to feminist centers and academia. unless you talk to these people and share your message they don't know what you stand for and they won't vote for
12:09 am
you. you don't have to change your message. just take the message and bring it to people. >> my point earlier was that i mean it is obvious looking at the voting that most black people believe the democratic party represents their interests. that's why they are doing it. whether you agree with it or not that's clearly the case. what steven a is saying, well just one time vote for the people you think suck. i get his point. >> people are trying to keep your vote. >> my only point is it is asking a lot for people to consciously vote for somebody -- >> they would do it. >> jet do dye yaw is right. -- jetta dye yaw is right. she has a life long democrat. she went with her husband to meet the local republican party commissioner and she
12:10 am
said i am not a republican and she sat there and had breakfast and they talked about what she stood for and she said we are republicans and i didn't know that. that's what the republican party needs to do. they probably won't do it. they should. >> they figure we don't need this group. we don't need that group. >> they are too busy doing the math. >> they are too busy losing elections. >> let's get to the next topic. >> that was excellent. let's get to the next topic. the ceo of starbucks is encouraging baristas to talk about race relations. >> it is a voluntary act by our people. it is not mandatory. we all have unconscious bias and perhaps through education and understanding we would be able to move the country forward. we are not going to solve the race problem but perhaps by leaning into it we can have a positive affect on the national conversation. companies have a deeper responsibility to their people in the communities we serve.
12:11 am
i am trying to use our scale for good. that's the bottom line. >> that is the bottom line. the race together campaign has faced a lot of backlash. kareem abdul jabar called it flawed and worries that conversation could escalate to violence. that's true. i was just talking about birth control at mcdonalds. i got pushed by grimace. is it working because we are talking about race? >> when aren't we talking about race? it is 24/7. when we are not talking about it we are talking about when we are not talking about it. interesting there is no starbucks in ferguson. >> really? >> so this guy wants a conversation. open a starbucks in ferguson and stand behind there. you can hand out the cups. >> if there is no starbucks in ferguson where are these people writing their screenplays? >> nearby. >> only 16% of whites think there is discrimination in
12:12 am
america compared to 56% of blacks. are you surprised by that? >> yes there is racial division in the country but i can't stand people who inject politics into everything. you can't go for your morning coffee now without a discussion with a barista about race relations. sometimes i go into a place and people want to talk presidential elections. i said hold on i am having my green juice. there has to be a time and place where you are not talking politics. >> it is even worse now because in new york starbucks just started delivering. now you will have someone show up at your front door and want to have a conversation with you. >> i will be like, puerto ricans? jojo, is the starbucks not the place for this conversation? not the place, not the venue? >> it is not. >> then where can we have this conversation? "red eye"? >> exactly. please keep watching. i understand why they want to do this, but this discussion
12:13 am
is the cheapest option for them. that's why they are doing it. if they wanted to improve the climate of the country they could be doing something like for every purchase of your coffee would you like to donate a dollar to the civil rights organization or racial equality group? then people have the option to get involved or not. it seems like they are doing this for the exposure because it is # trendy and they want to feel better about themselves. >> does anybody believe you will have an honest conversation about race at any place, at any point? >> everybody will say what they are supposed to say and move on. it is like the chinese re-education camps. you say your speech and i will agree with you and then i will move on and that's not a conversation. >> it sounds like a first day.
12:14 am
you believe in mine and i believe in yours. keep it moving. >> unless they t something else in the coffee besides almond milk to loosen people up that is interesting. >> do you think at the will lead to violence? >> you and me both. >> i love kareem, but he said he is willing to endure the snarky ridicule from pundits. he also said i am in shock this works. it is not gonna work. ridiculing doesn't mean you don't think race is important. it just means this is a really, really dumb way to do it. his heart is in the right place, whatever. this idea is so breathtakingly awful you can't excuse it with that. it is a bad idea. >> i think it is the name race together. it it is like trying to convince people to run a marathon. let's talk about race baby or
12:15 am
caution, contents are color-blind. >> or race separately but equally. >> all i know is i have never been happier to not be a coffee drinker. >> you and me both. >> y'all are nuts. >> to the next one. a french comedian was given a two-month suspended sentence after condoning terrorism. after the tack at "charlie hebdoq" he said i feel like charlie coolybelly. he was the guy who killed the people at the kosher market. he said his point is he feels like he is being treated like a terrorist. >> unless you are threatening someone out right i feel comedians can say the horrible and tasteless things.
12:16 am
>> that's what you are there for. are you supposed to make people uncomfortable with the humor. you are supposed to push the envelope. unless you are threatening someone and there is legal action and you are going after a specific person leave the comedians alone. get off these page. don't give him anytime. >> should all french comedians go to jail? >> i think they should have a contest. $1 million for comedians who are funny once. they still shouldn't go to prison. look it is like free speech. it is only free if it is bad speech. that's the definition of free speech. if you are not funny and you are a comedian you will go broke. in france they have lots of
12:17 am
social safety nets. you can be a french comedian and be completely unfunny and have a lucrative career for years. >> and they fined him $30,000. if they don't pay he will have to go to jail. >> jojo, do you feel sometimes you are treated as a terrorist? >> no. well sometimes when they cut me off at the bar. so i understand that authorities want to prevent future terrorist attacks from happening. that's why they are looking at this speech. of course they want to see if they can prevent anything. if speech is supporting terrorists in their mind it encourages the terrorist attacks. and speech that is against terrorists like "charlie hebdow" it will encourage future attacks. either way the terrorists are winning. >> that's why speech needs to be free.
12:18 am
you just need to look for the isolated threats and his saying i feel like this i feel like they treat me like a terrorist that was interpreted speech. that wasn't what he directly said. >> he is a horrible person. he is an anti-seem might. neither of those should be legal. convicted people of crimes because of impure thoughts or words this marks -- this is the beginning of the end of western civilization. american colleges are not far behind. this is a bigger threat than isis could ever hope to be. >>but to be fair this is not new in france this is not new in france. it is not like france is somehow crumbling. >> europe is going further and further.
12:19 am
>> i guess it is ironic. they want certain thoughts and words to be made illegal. and this is exactly what the friend was doing in england and across europe. >> what will happen here? >> we are doomed. get in your kicks. >> i even heard on comedy central the roast of justin bieber and they took out the paul walker jokes. >> comedy will be lame and people afraid to speak their minds. >> what is going on? >> are you right because ago academia is saturated with this. >> coming up, hillary clinton wants to send us to a camp.
12:20 am
12:21 am
12:22 am
12:23 am
hillary clinton wants to put us in camps. during a speech to the american camp association in atlantic city -- that sounds like a party, clinton had this to say. >> as i have gotten older i have decided we really need camps adults. i think we have a huge fun deficit in america. we need to figure out how to fill that fun deficit. >> she says these camps will bring us together. >> we are much less racist sexist, homophobic, all of those things. we sure don't want to spend time with anybody who we disagree with politically. i mean that is just too stressful.
12:24 am
maybe mix it up a little bit. you can have the red cabin the blue cabin have a come together and actually listen to each other. what a novel idea. >> i'm sure his girlfriend heard this and thought, camps? >> fun costs money hillary and we can't afford it. the country can't afford fun. it is not in the budget. i do think it is wise to hear opinions that are not your own. when you are in a debate you know what the other point is so you can appropriately argue against it. >> you just explained why i came to fox. >> it is very important. unless there is booze and smores i i am not going. >> you went to camp as a boy right? >> nobody hates hillary more than i do, but she obviously wasn't being serious.
12:25 am
she was talking to a stupid camp association. i take it back. she was talking to an excellent camp association. i don't want to get letters. i'm assuming she got big money. hillary doesn't do anything unless she gets big money. the idea that this insulated person who always has her team around her isúgoing to preach about talking to people who disagree with you? come on, hillary. come on. she is a lizard person. >> back uphill reon this. >> come to me to back uphill re. >> you explained earlier on lou daabs. >> i don't know how i will get through this campaign. she is unsufferable to listen to. this is her being funny and entertaining. if you have seen her in her press conference scaring the heck out of all of us she is rough. i always hated camp. forced socialization for people who don't like it, that's cruelty. >> people need people.
12:26 am
they are the lukiest people in the world. >> have i to say there is nothing creepier than hillary modelling human behavior. you want to call the big office and say some of the algorithms are not working. her fee is $200,000. >> what! what is she kevin hart? good god all mighty. >> if you want to talk so much go with the ceo of starbucks and you can hang out. apparently they want to talk all the time. my feeling with that is, look, the idea we have a fun deficit is partly her fault, right? doesn't she suck the fun out of everything herself? >> now you are talking to bill. >> bill does not have a fun deficit. he had excess. >> his cup runeth over. so you think -- you don't like
12:27 am
hillary in the first place. >> no, i love her. >> i will just -- i reached the point a longtime ago that i can't watch her and i can't listen to her. everything she says is a lie. she is incredibly unethical and should not be president and should not be a public figure. she should retire somewhere and leave me alone. >> let's talk camps right now. how many people went to camp as a kid? >> i was forced. >> like sleep away? >> no! >> i went to band and theater camp. >> band camp? >> this whole country can be divided into people who like camp and people who don't like camp. and that is the real war going on. >> i had a good time in camp. i had boy scout camp. >> she should have ran with the metaphor. if she has paid $200,000 to speak there -- if she really ran with it it may have been worth like $5.
12:28 am
>> you can see it in the limo. camps are fun, fun deficit. is that okay? >> yeah, go with that. and you know when the audience laughs they say okay i will go with this. andy is right. this is the sign of a politician in trouble. >> it was an innocuous thing. we all have this baggage with her that she is toast. >> don't underestimate the power of republicans to lose. they will find a way to lose to a politician that is an awful politician. she unites the country in many ways. she unites republicans and democrats in hating her. she will still manage to beat republicans. >> do you think she will win? >> today if i had to predict it i will say she will still take it. i looked at a cnn poll and all of the republican candidates are trailing her by like 8 9, 10%. >> even after she lost 15 points? >> they don't like the republicans. the republicans don't do out reach. people don't believe in their
12:29 am
message. they think the lesser of two evils. >> don't underestimate the power of the clinton machine. they will do anything to win you just don't know. you have to tune hillary up. >> you are saying she is like a small wonder? >> she has a little small wonder? >> i think she may win it. >> coming up, cha arely sheen says -- charlie sheen says something racist. wait that's not news. first a message from our sponsor. >> how to shoot a video with your phone, 101. this course covers holding the phone horizontally and nothing else. thanks, how to shoot a phone -- video with your phone 101.
12:30 am
12:31 am
12:32 am
12:33 am
charlie sheen got all racist on twitter. after president obama went on espn to fill out his march madness poll tween tweeted this out. you won't attend a soldier's funeral across the street you killed but yet have time for brackets? sad. oh charlie. in other sheen news, his two and a half men co-star has a new memoir. in it he says "after his divorce sheen helped him get a
12:34 am
prostitute." okay. is charlie sheen racist? >> i don't understand the tweet. the new york daily news said he wrote a meandering tweet. it is 140 characters. how can you ram bell in a tweet? he somehow managed to do it. i don't know if he is racist. i am in hollywood but i do know john cryer. he is the world's nicest guy. >> that's what the prostitute said. >> the book is great by the way. in the book he talks about -- with the prostitute he ended up sitting on the kitchen table doing the financial planning. he is that sweet nerd. he did that and did her financial planning. >> that just goes to show you type casting does happen in hollywood. that's the characters he plays on "two and a half men." i don't need to read your book. i saw 10 years of your show.
12:35 am
>> who gets a prostitute and don't prostitute her? i mean in the capitalist way. andy, what do you think? >> if charlie sheen says something you have to take it seriously and if he says something you read it and you think it is stupid, you need to check your assumptions and you need to do research. i went to my go to site and i found an article that pointed out just last week president obama himself joked about being from kenya on kimmel. if he can do it, why can't charlie sheen do it? let charlie be charlie. >> we need to check our sober privilege. >> when we start checking charlie sheen we run out of people. he is charlie sheen. >> four paw knock yows for that tweet or whatever? >> every day charlie sheen gets through without shooting his wife is a good day for him. >> you know what i love about this guy? we all know he is insane and we talk about him. he knows
12:36 am
no matter what he says and how crazy it is, he has that power. >> he has the certain something we love. you know who don't have that? emilio. emilio ain't got it. he hasn't been around and we don't miss him. have you hired a prostitute for a friend? >> i have not. >> can you? i get shy on the phone. >> it goes against my moralities. >> are you a capitalist. >> it is true. i am a capitalist, but i am old-fashioned. >> like the prosperity church. >> and i support job growth. i am being a little hipocritical. >> and you are not shy on the phone. >> you breathe heavy on the phone. >> a lot of comedians say that to me. they get on stage and they are in their element but they say in real life when it comes to dating they are super, super shy. is that true? >> not for me. i am the same dude all day.
12:37 am
>> if you do it old sway hit the streets. >> there is an app. >> an app for that? >> so you think charlie will get any backlash? i don't know. will he get into backlash? >> it will really hurt his cause rear. >> he might, you never know. everybody can run into hard times. >> people love it. they love the crazies. >> next topic. according to a survey from ugov republicans are more likely to have heros than democrats and democrats are more likely to have heros than british people. the most popular heros are parents followed by jesus. in that case it is the same for me because jesus is my father. and winston churchill, what year is it in england? >> i imagine myself as wonder woman all the time so that's
12:38 am
what gets me through the day. >> i almost wore my costumes and andy said it may be a little much. i have a lasso. >> before i start getting nasty tweets from viewers i never said that. >> i do have a wonder woman costumes. i wear it to boost my self-esteem i swear guy just a little behind but i'm here. >> what do you think? >> well, you know, my hero is ronald reagan. when margaret thatcher should be their hero. she saved the country and when she died they treated her like, oh that old cow. they are jerks. they hate success. he is a famous guy and he got a big, fans advance and he -- they don't like success. we like it here.
12:39 am
it means we are better. >> jojo, who is your hero? >> can we stop calling them heros. it is a sub sandwich sub. i don't know if we have a hero. i like that our country like jesus the what would jesus do? that must be a lot of pressure to know you are someone else's hero. a lot of kids -- well people polled they said their parents are the hero. the pressure is on. >> do you have any idea how hurt andy looked? >> the face just does that. >> am i your hero? >> i am hurt that neither i nor edward snowden made the list. my hero is you, the "red eye" viewer.
12:40 am
it was churchill, jesus and then maybe thatcher. >> was it benny hill? >> it should have been. >> up there in heaven or on the list? what about the bald headed dude? >> smack him around. >> they are weird, weird people. >> but we are on an island right now. >> case closed. >> do you have a hero? >> yes. my hero is all of you guys just trying to do better for the rest of us. team to take a break. we will be back and talk about fast-food or something. it is sherrod. "red eye."
12:41 am
12:42 am
12:43 am
12:44 am
south los angeles banned fast-food restaurants in 2008 and now people in that city are still fat. i could str told you that. in fact, they are getting fatter than they were before the ban. the obesity rate rose from 63% to 75%. how is that possible? what are they eating? each other. >> professor ian malcolm you may know him from "jurassic park." he said life finds a way. i think it is clear that it is also true that fat finds a
12:45 am
way. the thing here is though that now they will say -- the solution to failed government intervention is more government intervention. they say the ban needs to be a wider area. the definition of what is being banned needs to be expanded to more fast-food joints. they won't say clearly banning stuff won't work. they just ban more stuff. >> so they banned new fast-food restaurants from opening in south los angeles? >> yes. >> so all of the old ones are it still there? >> yes. >> i live in l.a. and i am fatter than i was in 2008. everyone in l.a. drives. you can get anywhere you want. sometimes the fattest stuff is not the fast-food stuff, but the stuff in the corners. >> the stuff you snack on. >> you put food in a corner? >> the stores in the corner. i don't know score language.
12:46 am
>> what do you mean your language? east coasters? >> i can have a conversation. this is what it is going to be like. >> i what -- i should push you in your grande. >> do you eat fast-food? >> i eat fast-food. i will tell you this. if i am a woman on a mission i am hungry. if i were the person that did eat mcdonalds. they say if you will restrict i i will be spiteful and they are going where they need to go. you can't regulate that somebody out of somebody. if they want to chub it up, we are americans.
12:47 am
>> even in new york mcdonalds delivers. >> they do? >> yes. so they ain't saying stand out there and get fat. come on in and eat. >> you enjoy fast-food? >> it is so good. but you don't have to ban the stuff. the free market is already doing it. the places are not doing as well as they used to and healthier places are doing better. you have to let people make their own damn minds up and say you can't do this. >> it troubles me. >> will there be a chick-fil-a coming to town? >> it will be a group trip. and they don't open on sunday which is bad. new york city, we have a date and they are not even open.
12:48 am
>> that is the day you need chicken. you need the hung over gross food. >> just to be clear they are not trying to not open on sunday to be gangster. >> i know that. go and order your verde or grande. >> i don't think she that should -- well we should encourage them to love their bodies and make good choices. >> treat your body like a temple. like clean out your emotional house so you can eat right? >> wow. >> i am trying to better myself. i am getting on the right track. >> i only eat fast-food sometime. i don't even know what you consider fast-food. is tie food fast-food sph. >> i sent pizza. >> pizza is? its own category. >> chinese food.
12:49 am
>> panda express. it has express in the name. >> well, it is not pandas. >> we don't know. >> can i get the panda and onion? >> white castle, i know it used to be white castle. >> i can't eat white castle. >> not now. you are disem bowel i had -- di semboweled. i could go at 15 and feel nothing. >> i would eat it five times a week. >> inn out. >> inn outdoes president taste like fast-food. do you have animal videos? send them to fox news.com/red eye. we love your animals. oh do we ever.
12:50 am
12:51 am
12:52 am
12:53 am
coming up tomorrow on "red eye" i won't be here, but it will still be good. return appearance of gavin mcginnis, lauren lyons cole and will ron. what a show. >> e block. last story. that's the last story.
12:54 am
our movies are full of midgets as a writer from the daily mail points out. today's men are shorter and wimpier than in the past. old actors like sean connery and sydney portier play masculine roles. today's star like sean penn and kevin hart, throw that in there black people, they are all under 5-10 and play vulnerable characters. it is the subject of today's -- >> okay bough, what -- obama what are you doing to this country? you like a manly man, right? >> yes. i like muscles. if you can't throw me around like a cabbage patch, i am not interested. >> god all mighty. >> well, men are getting feminized. >> you got my attention.
12:55 am
>> everyone looks like these female -- like the man joanne likes. she likes these 23e78 anyone men.ei-you can have either it. >> i want extra testosterone. >> what is your exact address? >> andy you like manly men right? >> everyone likes manly men. qhek this out. -- check this out. chris evans 6-0 and chris helmsworth, 6-3. bradley cooper 6-1 and ke u reeves and denzel 6-1 and samuel jackson 6-2. this guy is -- he picks sean penn. when was the last time sean penn was in a hit movie? danielle ratcliff played a
12:56 am
