needed the u.s. support and it was a time to negotiate. this is i think, a time to really negotiate hard not to give in. as far as the u.n. i would say u.n. has never been our ally. when is the last time you can remember saying good thing we had the u.n in our corner. >> and harris, if you look at iran how they've been behaving recently they're no friend. they called us the great satan. shooef called for the owe lit ration of israel off the map but look at the report and we talked about this briefly yesterday. the report that was delivered by the senate to the senate intel committee. in the past it's talks about iran and hezbollah as terror threats. recently in this latest report that was delivered, the threat has been downplayed and people are wondering, specifically, if this is an effort to paint them as maybe not so bad this way, maybe the united states could move to lift sairngzsnctions.
9:06 am
there are interesting questions about the timing of all of this. the president reaches out directly to the iranian people and among some of the bad actions they've taken recently were trotting out the cruise missiles or replicas saying that we should reach areas we've never reached before, all of this military brandishing. >> don't forget the american aircraft carrier. >> to symbolize that they could do that sort of thing. but mubarek is how the president begins his talking points which means happy first day of spring. now it's early spring. we have a chance to make progress that would benefit our countries and the world. seize the possibilities that can bloom this season. he's using the holidays inside iran that first day of spring, that reopening that they see as a culture to kind of get in there. the other thing i would mention is the president did reportedly call benjamin netanyahu and this topic of the united nations came up and the way that it has been

goes. that's his argument. i think in terms of what you were just talking about in terms with the sanctions you raise cuba. the sanctions didn't work. so why do we want to do the same thing to iran? i think the argument the obama administration is saying is we need to get in that country. we need inspectors in the cannotry able to go around and verify things. if we just keep crushing them with sanctions what makes you think they're going to stop what they're doing? it didn't help with cuba. >> if you loosen up you give them the ability to continue the enrichment program to grow their nuclear capability. >> still have inspectors in there. >> i don't trust iran. i think i trust russia more than iran. >> wow. >> i don't trust the inspectors, either though. >> president obama picking up the phone yesterday as harris mentioned, calling benjamin netanyahu to congratulate him on his party's victory in tuesday's election. he also told the israeli leader the u.s. is reassessing its options in the middle east leaving open the possibility we

might stop using our veto at the u.n. to shield israel from being forced to restart peace talks. this after netanyahu's election ooe comments rejecting the establishment of a palestinian state. his comments have tried to be walked back a bit saying any support of peace agreement under the right conditions. in his interview with megan kelly last night prime minister not speaking directly to his relationship with president obama but making it very clear where his interests lie. >> i was once asked what's the difference between the president of the united states and the prime minister of israel, and i said megan, that the president of the united states, i believe is always concerned about the security of the united states. but the prime minister of israel, and i can speak personally, in the nine years that i've been in office, there's not been a day, a day that i haven't thought about the things i have to do to protect the survival of israel. and that's the difference.

survived. they will survive. but i think america that's our strongest ally in the middle east and it's up to our leadership to support them and not support iran. why would we ever trust them? when israel is fighting for their own existence, it's important to support netanyahu and that's who the people voted for. that's what the people want. we need to support israel. >> just seems like the president has a harsh language for israel and has been pretty openly hostile to the israelis but yet seems to have nicer rhetoric for the iranians and we have john kerry picking up the phone trying to negotiate with hamas. it seems like everything is a little bit backwards and i want to go back to something you said before. i don't trust iran. iran doesn't believe they have to honor any contracts. they can -- we're infidels so any contract in their mind is not binding. >> they could back away from it tomorrow. my point was not to do saimgz -- sanctions for the terms of sanctions.
9:12 am
it's not go begging for the terms you want because they're in a position where they're not negotiating. i think that you're absolutely right. iran cannot be trusted. they just cannots be trusted at all. and if you get to the point where the sanctions get them to accept yes, we allow inspectors to do yes, we will answer all this before you lift the sanctions, you get the terms you want that this is the time to do that. not to roll over. >> i want to ask you what other democrats think because after netanyahu's speech, dianne feinstein came out and said, i am not okay with this deal. 10 years is not enough. i wish that it could be long he were. how are democrats feeling about this? because i know there's mixed emotion and i have talked to some who say, look. we don't trust iran either. the worst thing that could happen is the president signs a deal and iran shreds the deal the next day. what the heck is the president going to do? how is he going to enforce anything with iran or make them adhere to the contract? >> well that gets back to the piece of the inspector. if they don't allow the

that there are connections between durst and a number of unsolved crimes "across america." we don't know which number. would that be five? two? durst has lived at least in half a dozen locations in the past five decades and police are looking into cold cases in california, new york, vermont. in fact, police in northern california are already looking into a possible link between durst and the disappearance of karen mitchell. in another bizarre twist, texas judge says she thinks that durst placed several severed cat heads on her doorstep as payback for her testifying against him at a parole hearing in 2006. all this on top of legal troubles dating back to 1982 when his wife was first reported missing and this week's charges that he murdered his friend susan susan burr man.
9:20 am
you know, judge this is now a laundry list if you will of things. you're not surprised, though. five decades is a long time. >> i'm not surprised. this case involving the 16-year-old was one that he was looked at already before when she disappeared. so at that time they didn't clear him but they didn't have anything to tie him. it's normal in a situation like this. he was originally suspected of murdering his wife in new york and then when his friend susan burman was going to meet with the d.a. all of a sudden she was found dead and then he actually did kill his neighbor. he got acquitted but he killed him and dismembered him and claimed self defense which is unusual for self defense. so when you have somebody who is clearly involved in one killing and suspected in two others, it's normal for the police to say, wait a minute. let's take a look where this guy looked before look for missing people and let's see if there's any connection to him. could he be a serial killer? certainly could be except that those -- murders we know about the ones we know about are not

i don't think just the pledge of allegiance should be read in any language but especially not in a language that's so tied to the terrorist attacks that we're seeing all the time. >> i respectfully disagree so strongly. there are a lot of christians who speak arabic. my ex husband's family are christians and they speak arabic and they're americans. i think it's sad that people tie the language to terrorism. and there are muslims who are americans in this country who speak arabic so i just -- i think it's more than fine to be doing it and i wish this could be an educational moment for people that arabic is not our enemy. it's not -- arab people are not our enemies and the pledge can be spoken in any language. it doesn't have to be spoken in english. people -- that's what's so wonderful about this country. we're a melting pot and we have all these different -- people have cultures and languages living here. >> i wasn't suggesting in any way that it has anything to do with whether you're christian or

muslim whether you're arabic or don't speak arabic. every time we have a terrorist attack, they're yelling out about -- >> allah. >> they're yelling out about their -- the pledge has the words in there which they did read as one nation under allah. >> that's the arabic word. it's not -- you know i just think this has become distorted. >> it doesn't matter if you call god, jesus jehovah it doesn't make a difference. >> she could have done other things. i agree with you, judge. i don't think it should have been the pledge of allegiance to the united states of america. to me that's just bizarre. but i do see your point. i do understand that you don't want -- you don't want to somehow make christians or non violent muslims somehow feel isolated. i do get that. i just think the school didn't -- wasn't thinking at all.

>> i agree there are other ways to celebrate the national foreign language week. when we were growing up we each got a different country. if you were spain you would bring a food that represented that country. you would bring a picture of the flag and stand up and talk about it and that's a better way to teach our students. >> i heard a commentator before on fox saying, wouldn't you feel strange if during world war ii we had a school recite the pledge of allegiance in german? >> i agree. we were at a war with germany. we were not at war with muslims. it's not comparable. >> we are at a word with isis. >> we're not at war with muslims or arabic speaking people. >> united states of america, whose first language is english. the exercise seems bizarre. >> it's part of a foreign language week which i assume -- >> the pledge of allegiance in arabic to a muslim flag or do some kind of poem or something
