a lot of industries. it's near its 52-week low. >> piggyback on east mark. >> it's near that low because it may runway on energy. >> that's it for "forbes on fox." thanks for watching. the number one business block continues with eric bolling and "cashin' in." >> he crashed the plane on approximate purpose. the co-pilot flew the airline into a mountain after locking the captain out of the cockpit. could paying for mandatory psychological testing help prevent other pilots from committing mass murder? i'm eric bolling well tomorrow to "cashin' in." wayne rogers, ontan hoe anything, lisa booth and juan williams. i want to talk about this 150 dead and they say it was a deliberate act. is it time to start requiring who are testing for pilots? >> i think you have some testing initially. lufthansa said that they had done a psychological test they want people who are not only cooperative, but reliable. the problem is they stopped. they don't do it once you're a pilot. well, obviously people go
8:31 am
through divorce people go through all kinds of upsets drug addiction and the like. they should have something where they go and look for their pilots to make sure they're not going to literally crash your plane. >> are we talking about more agency reg lags. >> they are an anti-regulation show, but sometimes it makes sense. >> i think it's important not to have a knee-jerk reaction. they're still investigating the crash, still looking at all the facts, still trying to figure out why exactly pd this. nets not have a knee-jerk reaction. the fact remains flying still remains the safest means of transportation and we also know that, you know in the united states this probably wouldn't have happened because if you look at faa regulations as a result of 9/11 we have the rule of two, which means two individuals would be had in the cockpit at all times throughout a flight. so that could have prevented this incident from happening. >> let me push back on that just a little bit with you juan. let's say a flight attendant goes in the cockpit after a pilot leaves, would that really stop a rogue pilot?
8:32 am
>> well, i don't know that it would and i'm not so sure that this thing isn't blown way out of context. you know, eric and you know this, of course there were 34 million -- excuse me 34000 in automobile crashes in the united states in the last year. we're talking about one flight one accident, 150 people. there were 18,000 murders last year in the united states. i mean if you're going to spend money on oversight or you're going to spend it on trying to get something better, spend it where you're going to get a bang for the buck not where it's not needed. >> that's the thing, eric. these horrific tragedies come along and her record rifk but when it comes right down to it you've got to think with your head and not your heart and don't overreact based on ee motion. i mean this just couldn't ever happen in america, this has never happened in america. flying is safer than walking. so we've got to resist this temptation whenever something horrific comes along to say we've got to do something. think about all the bad outcomes of that, tsa --
8:33 am
>> john, you don't think it makes sense, even common sense to say every once in awhile do a psychological reexamine of pilots, every couple of years you may catch one. >> catch one -- >> there are at least five different airlines that are attributing to pilot suicide bringing town hundreds of lives. >> five different planes out of the last 39 years or 40 years? there's 100,000 commercial flights every year. every day, excuse me. >> it's not a lot, but, boy, is it becoming more often, lisa is this. >> this is an incredibly isolated incident. the reality is that the airline industry remains one of the most heavily regulated industries. and, look, we already put in place a lot of safety precautions after 9/11, but you have to be careful about going too far. look at the relation of the tsa, it's costing taxpayers tens of billions of dollars and reports show that it's not any -- that tsa is not any more efficient than a private companies would
8:34 am
be. >> hang on a second. wait a minute. everybody, after 9/11 we put if if those reinforced doors in the cockpit, right? you could say how often does 9/11 happen? not on, but do you know what, people -- the american people said we want that protection because if it happens and it happens to you or your family your friends you feel it intensely. let me add one quick point about regulation. i get upset when i'm left on the tarmac for eight hours and say say we can't go back to the gate because it takes too long to load people, i get upset when the cops stop traffic because of an accident or crime scene they block traffic willy-nilly, somebody should say stop it. >> alternatively, though, it was those changes that were made after 9/11 that resulted in the deaths of 150 people because what happened with the co-pilot locked out the pilot. >> correct. >> those were changes that were made post 9/11. >> and we evolved so that we can save the species. >> john you've heard the term
8:35 am
prozac pilots, there's a term out there because there are a lot of pilots who have been on anti-depressants. do you want to get on a flight with a pilot who is heavily medicated if. >> i've been on many flights where people are anti-depressants and they don't crash the plane. to blanket -- go back to the statistics. you have a much better chance of dying walking down the street in a bike, in a car, there's no safer way to travel. this notion that -- sometimes a bad story is just a bad story and we don't need to have this massive regulatory overreaction to really what is a once in a million type of a terrible event. >> wayne do you agree? i'm playing devils advocate here because i hate extra regulation, but again, the thought of a pilot -- and, by the way, this co-pilot, this 27-year-old co-pilot at one point had to leave some of his training and take substantial time offer because of depression. i don't know i want to get on that airplane with that guy. >> well you don't want to do anything, you don't want to get on the road, either with a
8:36 am
person driving a car who is like that. >> very valid point. go ahead. >> jonathan is exactly right. as i said, you had 34,000 deaths, deaths, in the automobile on roads in the united states last year. that's just in the u.s. not worldwide. there were 150 people on this plane. don't make a big something out of nothing here. i'm not trying to be insensitive of course you'd like to save lives. when you talk about your priorities, where they are, you have 18000 murders in the united states last year. take the time and spend it where it's going to do some good don't just run up and you know, because you've got a front page story. >> they're not allowed to have any gun control, wayne. we can't even talk about it. i do think we can talk about rational steps that you won't want to get on that plane with a nut, i don't want to get on the highway with a drunk. i agree. >> juan are you saying that somebody who is on
8:37 am
anti-depressants is a nut, is that the equivocation we're making here? >> come on jonathan, is that guy nuts? >> there's something obviously wrong with that into thank you. all all i'm saying. >> everyone who is being treated for mental illness -- >> i didn't say that. that guy was an extreme case and i don't want me, you, my family or friends to get on a plane with someone who is psychotic. >> 100,000 are taking off today. your fears are obviously not shared by the vast majority of the flying public. >> i would not -- >> i have no idea if the pilot is going to crash. why should the government act as my surrogate. >> if you look at american airlines for example, they have 15,000 pilots alone. how do you regulate that and implement these swhooik tests? >> eric said just give them a test. >> but then what makes you mentally unfit to fly is this. >> you have a professional
8:38 am
evacuate you. that's not a horrible idea. other industries do do this and they're not -- >> so does the airline industry. but the airline industry does as well. each pilot subjected to a yearly evaluation and within that evaluation they are also supposed to flag for any sort of mental issues that they might pick up and individuals are -- >> evaluations a lot of times aren't professionals. sometimes these evaluations are peer to peer evaluations. >> this has happened five times in history. zero times had in the united states. one's hierarchy of values and priorities it should be near the bottom. >> there are a lot more plane crashes that are unaccounted for. >> do you know what i read this week even in the financial industry, eric was talking about, lots of people say i don't want to invest my money with someone who is going through a divorce. well, why can't i know that when i get on a plane? >> view crew, azalea banks hates

. crowds in iran said to be chanting death to america, but yet the white house is still wheeling and dealing on nukes with them. yet again the administration failing to recognize the enemy and that can be costly. >> absolutely it's going to be costly. look, when iran's supreme leader
8:43 am
says death to america we should believe him. iran is one of the most active state sponsors of terrorism. iran has worked with our enemies to kill americans and kill our allies. we are in desperate need of sleerd hip on the world stage. oom has pointed to yemen as the beacon of its counterterrorism policies, we are on the verge of a full scale boxy war against iran and states. president obama's ignorance and his determination to cement his foreign policy record is blinding him in his negotiations with iran. >> wayne, for me i don't know if the leader of the country i'm negotiating with says death o to your country i kind of get up and walk away. we'll fight had had fight another day. >> well eric you know as i've said the art of diplomacy is appearing to be what you're not and not appearing to be what you really are. we have -- finally this helps define it in a certain way because you've got sunnis on one side and shiites on the other.
8:44 am
we should be playing those two off against each other. the peace of the world was maintained from 1850 in waterloo to 1914 in world war 1 by men who understood the balance of power and that's exactly what we should be doing right now using that to -- in the middle east so that we the united states do not become involved. >> what about it, juan? are we sure that this is -- right right deal and the right time with a right deal? >> the middle east is a mess. >> do you trust the iranians? >> doesn't matter if i trust them. verify that's what ronald reagan said, their guy. if we get a deal where we can verify that they are not advancing their nuclear aspirations that's a good deal for everybody. >> you have to trust that they're telling us the truth. >> you have to have in the deal the mechanisms to go in and inn true civil go check, eric. >> john, historically they flow knows people out when they go to check. >> no deals with the devil. do not deal with the devil.
8:45 am
we legitimize them even by agreeing to a deal. we give in on the principle. eric, i think i saw this all play out a couple of decades ago when bill clinton tried to make a deal with the authority koreans so they would slow town their nuclear program, lo and behold they got a nuke. iran, not just north korea we're talking about slammist crazy people who have worked since 1979 to bring down the west and u.s. no deal with the devil and iran is the devil when to comes to islam. >> you would say to richard nixon don't go talk to these chinese, that's a bad idea. you would absolutely have stopped history. >> i would certainly -- >> the iranians want to kill everything west, as lisa points out state sponsors of terror. >> iran has already lied about their facilities, they were covert before how do we know they're not lying about for? we cannot trust iran this is take making a deal with the devil. >> because we can't trust them that's exactly why the deal is
8:46 am
to our advantage then we can go am and check into juan, do you make -- >> check what, juan? >> we have to have the ability -- free access to anything we want to check. that's the idea of the deal. >> juan, they have never done that. >> it is a bad situation that's getting worse. >> wayne, you cut a lot of deals, baseball teams, wall street, investments, companies. do you make deals with people you don't trust? >> you make a deal with somebody you don't trust knowing you don't trust them. you don't trust the deal. the deal is made knowing that. you making a deal that's advantageous to you whether you trust the other guy or not and you use that distrust to your advantage. that's exactly what you do. >> but then the question to that, then, is is any deal better than a bad deal? it's not a bad deal. >> yes, it is. >> you don't even know the deal. you are so quick to bash obama that you want to con can dem a
8:47 am
deal that doesn't exist. >> it's not just me 367 members of congress from both sides of the aisle sent a letter to president obama warning him about the deal. >> yeah so? >> and warning about the information they have so far. >> i've got to take the that's so far. here is a question, who is a bigger threat, isis or law enforcement officer? police if you ask this state senator collecting a big fat salary financed by you the taxpayer. >> nobody from isis ever terrorized us as a people as the police do daily. i can help you choose investments. monitor them. and rebalance your portfolio. i can do a lot of what humans can. except have a real conversation. if you'd like that, you can always speak to someone at schwab. they aren't algorithms. try not to hold it against them. say hello at intelligent.schwab.com
