white house is looking the other way and set to guy away the school. >> it's almost a policy of willful ignore ran. we have major problem we are dealing with and here we are talking to iran about a nuclear deal with this almost complete breakdown of ordinarier in the middle east. martha: first we go to john huddy for the latest in these talks. what does it look like the sticking point are right now? >> there is a number of sticking points. that's the problem. the deadline is tomorrow. so again there are a number of issues. let me walk you through some of these outstanding issues. sanctioning. iran want sayings lifts soon

after an agreement is reached. the u.s. and its our meanal lays want sanctions against iran if it doesn't reach an agreement. last night iran's lead goritor is said the country is unwilling to ship out its stockpile to russia. that's really a whole reversal in course in terms of iran's previous term or at least the agreement on that particular issue. martha: the minister said we were never going to ship anything to russia. that's not part of the deal. that raised eyebrows on the whole thing. the deadline was supposed to be tomorrow on the framework. and the deal later down the

road. will that give them room on this? >> reporter: not really. the deadline is midnight. to be optimistic here. if a deal is reached that doesn't necessarily mean the terms will hold up. there is still the june 30 deadline to iron out all the technical details and issues in terms of that. so at this point it's not looking good. of course you talk to some foreign ministers and they paint a rosie picture saying they are optimistic but iran is reversing course on these issues. martha: john, thank you. bill: the white house saying a nuclear deal depend entirely on iran. house speaker john boehner says

any deal is worthless because you cannot trust iran. >> it's time for them to make a clear signal to the international community whether they are willing to make the commitments required and live up to their rhetoric that they are not trying to build a nuclear weapon. >> we have a regime that never quite kept their word about anything. i don't know why we would sign an agreement with a group of people who in my opinion have anyone tension of keeping their word. bill: . netanyahu said the deal is a danger to humanity and must be stopped. byron york, that warning for israel and directed perhaps at the u.s. congress. would you agree?

>> absolutely. this is a message for members of the united states congress who want congress to play a role in approving any deal the obama administration may agree to. it's steady gang support. in the last report, charles schumer has signed on to this bill. there are all 54 republicans in favor of it. there are 9 democrats who are co-sponsors of it. it would 67 votes to overcome a presidential veto. the president has threatened to veto this and the sponsors believe they are getting close to that point where they can say if you do this, we'll stop you. bill: lindsey graham said congress will have a say in this. suggesting congress will have a vote. >> corker and menendez put off a

vote on this in the foreign relations committee until april 14. there is no doubt congress will have some sort of role in this. the white house is conceding this. they are saying of course congress will play some role. they just don't want congress to fun it fear while the negotiations are going on for the framework. i think the white house has pretty much conceded reality and the congress will have a say. bill: i was struck by evan bayh, the former democratic senator from indiana sunday when he told chris wallace the real deadline is the end of june. is that the real story we'll be talking about wednesday of this week. on paper there is another deal towards the end of june three months from now? >> in all of the news reports it

says the deadline for the framework for the deal is tuesday meaning tomorrow. that could be extended. but even if it were some sort of agreement were reached there are lots of technical things to work out. the actual terms of the deal to work out. this is not over by tomorrow even if they did reach some sort of agreement. bill: thank you very much, byron. reuters reporting a couple hours ago the three sticking points, how long a deal with be in place. whether you lift the sanctions immediately. and whether you can trust them you cannot when you put the sanctions back on. it appears to me they are a long way away. martha: i think byron is right they will find a way to make this a squishy deadline. the period when they will work out the technical parts this agreement the end of june will

become very playable. tensions are fighting a fever pitch. saudi arabia launching more strikes in yemen targeting the iranian-backed rebels. then you've egypt aligning against iran which is really their arch enemy in the region. agreeing they will get together and form a joint regional army. what does future look like in the middle east? conor powell is with us. where does this leave us right now? >> the u.s. is playing a role in the conflict in yemen primarily in a support position. the pentagon providing logistics and support including jet refueling, search and rescue. this is very much and saudi operation with saudi jets flying the overwhelming sorties over

yemen. apter areas like turn ski pledged support but it hasn't materialized much in the way of actual support. there is an effort to build a joint arab military. but so far it's a joint force in name only. there are growing reports the saudis could enter into p.m. in the coming days but it's not clear what that inst. louis look like. martha: that's bent question since the he her jefns isis. do you think it will materialize? and will we see an invasion by tonight other players except for saudi arabia? >> reporter: for the last five days the houthi rebels begin to gain ground in yemen inching closer to the strategic port city of aden. the saudis have 250,000 or so

troops and there are reports they could enter into yemen possibly with egyptian troops. but it isn't likely they can have a big force to do an invasion. they are talking about a limited invasion into the port of aden where there are a significant number of sunni tribal fighters there and the houthis don't have control yet. bill: if you are confused at the different factions out there you have a lot of company. this chart from our brain room looks like a giant mess. martha: the governor of indiana facing a firestorm over a new state laugh that critics say could promote discrimination. but mike pence is standing firm and he says tolerance is a two-way street. >> here indiana steps forward to

iran was supposed to be that they were going to stop their nuclear program. we were going to stop a nuclear arms race in the middle east. before you know it everybody has got nukes in the middle east. the deal we are likely to get is not going to stop a nuclear arms race it will accelerate one. the other countries in the region are look at this deal and saying this doesn't stop iran's program. bill: what he talked about is willful ignorance. is that what's at play here like you are putting on blinders? he ticked it off. north africa, middle east, west africa. central asia. all this was not change when negotiations began it has significantly in the last two years. >> i'm not going to decide what the motives of the obama pad

ministration are. they seem eager for a deal. but i look at the region and say we are witnessing a sunni-shiia war. you have iran the shiites who are the persians. they have been fighting each other for thousands of years even before the advent much islam. my wror worry is the iran nuke deal us about the nuclear weapons into the civil war. bill: the chart our brain room put together. it's a mangled mess but you can make it simple. >> each of those countries has a lot of subgroups in it. but this is a two-party fight that will go region to region, tribe to tribe. it will be extremist and modernized. but at the bottom of it it's shiias versus sunnis.

bill: you have a u.s. congress now debating whether or not they should come to israel's assistance. friday out of geneva the united nations adopted four resolutions that condemned israel which is four times more than any softer 192 members of the united nations. that's more than north korea more than iran, more than syria. you have syria with some reports of 100,000 civilians killed the last few years and the u.n. is going after israel. >> the united states has always stood by israel and stopped the united nations when they tried to take actions to hurt israel. the question now becomes israel stepped up to say this iran nuke deal doesn't help the region and it doesn't help us. so the question is where is the president going respond? is he going to continue to do

bill: a decorated boston police officer's condition said to be improving today after he was shot in the face. he was honored for his role in coming to the aid of runners after the boston marathon. moynihan was just shot over the weekend saturday during a traffic stop in boston, massachusetts. he's have much he dated. still doing a lovment tests on him. he was shot under the right eye. the bullet is currently lodged

behind his right ear at this time. we are hoping there is no further damage. bill: police shot and killed the attacker. moynihan is expected in time to make a full recovery. martha: new clues in the search for a missing college student. 22-year-old jennifer hugh disappeared after going out with her friend. >> her purse and her phone were found in the middle of the street near her apartment building which is a few blocks down from blarney's. a lot of us think she may have tried to walk home. martha: mark fuhrman joins me, he's a retired lapd detective.

>> the possible victim, the young girl left the bar and separated from her girlfriend. tried to walk home and we can probably assume that because the purse and the cell phone were found in the middle of the street. this could be good or this could be bad. you look the purse. if there is money and credit cards possibly the object of the contact of the suspect was not theft, it was abduction. the cell phone and the purse left there. the victim certainly wouldn't do that on her own. that's a bad scenario. you are hoping the credit cards were taken so they were used. if they are taken they are usually used within several hours of the abduction or contact with the victim. martha: everything you are pointing to we'll find out hopefully in the coming hours whether the stuff that goes florida in there -- the stuff that

goes in there will point to a robbery. there is also some information her ex-boyfriend was in the bar and they ran into each other there. how significant is that? obviously they will have questions for him. >> it's significant in so much as at least you have something to include or exclude. so you take the boyfriend, you get a statement you get witnesses that were with him or were with him. did he ever distea pear, was he gone what time he left the bar. if i was on the case you have got a cooperative witness who says i didn't do anything. give him a polygraph and eliminate him and kick that down the road. >> this happened at 1:00 in the morning saturday evening. time is of the essence. in terms of the ticking clock. what do you think? >> time is of the essence. i think we could assume she didn't voluntarily go missing. she has no purse she has no

martha: in indianapolis lawmakers are set to speak. >> there is a lot of people across this country who you are looking at obamacare in the hobby lobby decision, look at other cases who feel that their religious liberty is being infringed upon. and the religious freedom restoration act at the federal

level and the states are addressing that. this is not about discrimination. martha: what's it all about? downgoodfriend is a former secretary to bill clinton. this bill was enacted under president clinton 20 years ago. it exists in 19 states on the state level as well so why is this becoming such a political firestorm now that indiana has decided to do the same thing? >> i think this is a firestorm now because of the way the law is being pea plied and will be applied. the reason i can say that is you just have to look at who lined up for and against the bill in indiana. you had walmart and at indiana chamber of commerce lining unagainst this bill because they felt that climate was not going

to be con deucive to business. the minute that bill was signed into law. angie's list canceled a headquarters expansion plan. when you enact laws like this when they seem on their face ... martha: let's get everybodien the same page. ' the law allows a person's free exercise of religion to be substantially burdened by a law only if the law furthers a compelling governmental interest. it says there is a stretch to make to take away what you are arguing is your religious freedom. in is a burned attached to that. there is a lot of outcry and people believe this is going to be used as a tool for gay discrimination. is that true? >> it certainly isn't true.

we have come to a point in this country, a dangerous point. when you decide to practice your freedom of religion which is embed in the constitution. that is now somehow turned into discrimination which isn't the case. this law that indiana is passed and is planning to continue to use and implement the language is pretty much identical to the legislation president bill clinton signed into law that was passed by the senate and cosponsored by chuck schumer who is ironically criticizing this law that was passed in the house in the 90s. it's saying if you want freedom of religion you are a bigot and discriminating. these boycotts have nothing to do with what the law actually

says. there are manhattany of laws in indiana and states across the country with anti-discrimination laws already on the books. martha: a form appellate court judge writes it does not give them trite discriminate against gay customers understood this law. there are a lot of forces going against indiana on this. they are saying that they will work to clarify the law to make it more clear for people who think that it's misinterpreted or don't understand the letter of the law. >> i think we all should across knowledge that religious freedom is a bedrock american principle. but there are always limited principles even to our constitutional rights. i have the freedom of speech but there can be a law that prohibits me from yelling "fire"

in a crowded movie theater for safety. when the mormon church wants to allow polygamy, there is a law that doesn't allow it. religious freedom could impinge upon the freedom of other americans. i think what's different this time and relevant to our political moment is that we seem to be witnessing in realtime and battle for the soul of the republican party. you have as i mentioned different has come out. the republican chamber of commerce has come out against the law. religious conservatives coming out for it. this will decide how the republican politics play out. >> it was passed overwhelmingly

martha: some scary moment for airline passengers after this air canada airline skidded off the runway during some stormy conditions. the force of the impact ripped the planes landing gear right off the plane and it belly land on the tarmac.

bill: prosecutors reporting the copilot of that doomed flight suffered from suicidal tendencies and was treated for that years ago. the headlines moment ago. suicidal tendencies, no motivation for the copilot crashing this plane. >> there has been some time between the fact that he was diagnosed this way and the fact that this happened when it did. that dplsh that period time would you have expected certainly in the united states it would have happened that the medications were reported to the faa and his license at that point would have been pulled. to fly an airplane you need a pilot's license and a clean medical that would have to be renewed at least every year for

someone his age. bill: after you are hired by the airline and you are in the air responsible for the lives of those flying with you what are the policies on check on medical conditions. >> in the united states's as consistent check that continues to go on. but europe and asia and those areas, they are more like suggestions rather than rules and the airlines take on their own rules and enforce the ones they wish. bill: before a plane leaves, does the pilot have to certify or check off or do anything to say i'm fit to fly this plane? >> before each leg of every flight each pilot has to show us the dispatcher, that card the employee i am d. number and pilot's license the last four

digits of their pilot' license before every flight. bill: in the united states or everywhere. >> in the united states only. when they do that they get back the weight and balance of the aircraft which is required to to make them fly. that gives the pilots an opportunity to look at each other -- bill: can you answer whether that is policy in europe? >> probably not. bill: we'll look into that. this is another thing we got over the weekend. he did not have time to use the restroom. that was a plane that left 26 minutes left. when they were flying at 36,000 feet you can hear lubitz saying you can go now and the pilot saying "you take over." >> he's thinking of this a while and here was his opportunity to lock the captain out.

bill: a shooting after a vehicle tried to ram the gate at fort meade. it is not clear if anyone else was injured but we are working more from that story. fox washington has the aerial shot. we'll look for some facts on the ground. as we get them you will hear them first here on america's newsroom. martha: an incredible image after firefighter's bravery. a california firefighter determined to reach people trapped by smoke and heat. he crashed through the roof and was engulfed in flames.

it's amazing he's even alive. he's a captain of fresno fire. he is using the pole to check for soft spots. he goes through the roof, it collapses he falls 15 feet. people are screaming get him out! get him out! here is some sound. >> i made a hurks turn. i saw a favorite fall in. my daughter was screaming. >> reporter: they desperately tried to get him out. they crashed the garage door with axs. they had pulled off his suit and doused him with water. for over a minute he was cooking in the middle of that fire at 600 degrees.

>> once they extracted the firefighter out and took his uniform off he was burned from head to toe. when you go in the attic or garage. it's only covered with a 1/2 to 3/4 inches of plywood. he's in critical condition with third degree burns. 70% of his body is burned. the fire is under investigation but they don't believe it is arson. >> reporter: firefighter is an inherently dangerous operation. pea routinely step out and put ourselves in harm's way. he has a father, a daughter, a wife. they say he will be okay but he will need a lot of skin graphs on his face and hands.
