ing at twitter. some are making me nervous. you have to say yes. what are you going to do, say no in front of a crowd? jon: i'm glad my kids are pretty much out of high school. see you back here after "outnumbered." >> "outnumbered" starts right now. >> we begin with a fox news alert. christians targeted in a deadly attack at a college campus in kenya just ahead of easter that is the timing. shabaab claiming responsibility in a hostage situation unfolding right now. this is "outnumbered." i'm harris faulkner. here today andrea tantaros. host of "kennedy" on fox business network kennedy herself. host of "money" with melissa francis melissa francis. today's hag #oneluckyguy father jonathan morris. we have so much to get to. christians in harm's way around the world but particularly in
9:01 am
kenya. you want to set the timing? >> it is holy week for christians around the world and eastern orthodox. kennedy and i were talking, today is actually easter sunday. tomorrow is passover. in the midst of those great celebrations of tremendous spiritual drama and also great hope is this tragedy of more christians being killed precisely because they are christian. that's why they're being killed. that's why they're being massacred. why many are in harm's way not only in kenya but around the middle east and around the world. >> with that we move on to what is happening. as i said this is not over. it is unfolding. the terrorists say they are holding many christians alive. we're told gunfire broke out during morning prayers at the university in kenya. at least five gunman went souching the campus for christians targeting them for death. one witness could hear them opening dorms in his dormitory asking people what religion are you?
9:02 am
the christians were shot on the spot. spokesperson for the terror group reportedly saying it attacked the school because it is on muslim land colonized by non-muslims. father i will come directly back to you. question this morning was would we hear the words islamist extremism. you have some thoughts on that. >> i looked up what right now the federal government says about al-shabaab okay, who has taken responsibility for this terrorist activity disgusting activity. the national center for counter tear recommend makes a -- counterterrorism, makes a great extent explaining that most people in the group are not dedicated to global jihad. but, in in the same explanation just a little bit further down on this, this is a government web page, they say well, they're actually, the leadership is connected to al qaeda. we also know that although the
9:03 am
center is talking about them being really, mostly a political organization fighting against a somali government, this happens in kenya. and they have been doing terrorist activity around the globe precisely to get rid of non-muslims. and muslims who don't agree with them. >> i want to tick down a list, andrea, that i looked up this morning. these were some of the attacks done on non-muslims recently and they will jog our memory. december 2014 gunmen killed 36 quarry workers in mendara after separating muslims from non-muslims. october 2014, 28 gunmen killed in a attack on bus. september 2013, four gunmenning take over westgate shopping mall in kenya. remember they were separating people out. they let the muslims sleeve the shopping center but not non-muslims. your thoughts.
9:04 am
>> this is been called hundred of years. call it al that pub, boko haram al qaeda the goal is not the same. if you can't take them by the carrot, take them about it sword. that is their interpretation by the sword. they believe you have to convert them. if they do not convert the infidel must be killed. they all have the same goal. harris, this is why it is so frustrating especially on holy week to continuously see these stories to have a white house tells us repeatedly this has nothing to do with religion. they go out of their way to say this has nothing to do with religion when this has everything to do with religion and specifically even when the president went out of his way if we recall last year to say that the islamic state was not islamic. remember that speech? isis, no, they're not islamic. really? tell that to them. very obvious. we keep waiting for them to identify this enemy. they're never going to do it. and the longer that they do it, i think the worst that it gets because they give them exactly what they want. >> you know, melissa, i want to ask but the politics of this
9:05 am
though. this isn't all muslims. we are educated enough to know that. >> yeah. >> now you look to the moderates within that religion and you say, what say you at this point? >> and you know, i struggle with what you say andrea, i i i am a religious person. i go to church every sunday. this is obviously a very sacred week when i see people out killing what they say in the name of religion and other people take away from that religions have been killing each other for years, i'm so happy to have you on the couch because do you feel like they're killing in the name of religion or name of evil? what makes it religion? >> that is a great point. they're doing it in the name of religion absolutely the name of religion. they're calling themselves islamists. they're calling themselves muslims. that is name of a religion. doesn't mean it is true religion. >> what makes true religion? what make as religion? >> what is religion? it is a human expression of one's devotion to god. now this has nothing to do with devotion true devotion to god. so i think that the balance here
9:06 am
we have to treich is recognizing that in fact, they are doing this in the name of religion. i think that is what andrea's point is. >> do you think they're doing it in name of devotion to god? >> they do. why are you struggling with what i'm saying? they yell "allahu akbar!" before they commit the tracks. this is not what i'm saying. bernard lewis foremost scholar of islam this is what they're saying themselves. this is their words melissa, not mind. >> let me quickly interject something. if your family member is a christian killed by one of these people obviously it is war. >> no doubt. >> pause the person that you love has been taken from you because of their religion. that is the most personal expression we have. as human beings. >> but i think what melissa's point is -- >> from your definition is love. that is religion is not saying they love everyone. >> but where is the love in that expression? >> you know what is interesting about what kennedy just said
9:07 am
though? then it becomes about the victim and not perpetrator. you can flip it. it is always about religion because it is about the person being killed. you don't have to figure out what you call everybody else. you call the victim dead in that sense. they're dead bathe of their faith. >> to andrea's point religion is call you to love everyone around you whether they treat you badly or not. >> that is your interpretation. that is my interpretation. i would guess that is father's john's interpretation. that is god's interpretation. there is a lot of peaceful muslims believe that is allah's interpretation. however these specific groups who believe in radical jihaddism believe that god is calling them to murder in the name of religion. and i think that is the key difference. >> again, maybe this is terminology but i think it is important terminology. one thing that everyone has to recognize, the fact that they're doing this in the name of religion. that's a fact. the second question is whether or not what they are doing, how they're living what they're preaching is true religion. i think we can all say,
9:08 am
absolutely no. >> do you agree with that absolutely no, it is not true religion what they're doing? >> you have to ask the people doing it. >> you don't agree? >> get what the u.s. embassy in nairobi. this is the official account. we're saddened and angered about today's terrorist attack at university. deepest condolences to family, friends at victims. #cowards never live. >> religion is very personal thing. people interpret it differently. i don't question people's belief. i question their perverse interpretation but that is their interpretation. >> and drea, do you think god can tell somebody to kill the innocent in his name? >> i will not put myself in god's shoes. no, i don't think god would do that. >> that's what we're saying anybody who says that god has told them to kill an innocent in their name, well, they're listening to some other voice that is not god. >> that's right. that wasn't her question,
9:09 am
father. she asked me if i believed that was their interpretation or religion. >> no, i was asking if it was true religion. >> in their mind though, that is true religion. in my mind, no. >> in their mind they can be very wrong. >> i think we can all agree on that. but that is not up for debate on the couch. i think they're wrong on that just to clarify. >> we all agree. i love it. >> a debate roiling indiana and the nation, the firestorm over the state's religious freedom law that allows businesses and institutions to refuse service for religious reasons. critics say it allows discrimination against gays and lesbians. earlier today, republican lawmakers announcing a fix. >> to reach an agreement to clarify the law which will unequivocally state as speaker said in the strongest possible terms that indiana es rfra law does not and will not be able to discriminate against anyone anywhere, at anytime. we are hopefully putting an end to this misrepresentation of what this law was really
9:10 am
intended to be and really more a misperception is what. >> the fix is unlikely to make everybody happy. indiana family association, that the indiana senate is considering water heed down language religious freedom restoration act. homosexual activists demand christian business owners in indiana be forced to compromise their faith. on the left critics say that the fix fails because it does not make days and lesbians a protected class of citizens statewide. what do you think about this law, father jonathan? and how both sides are handling it? >> it's a very sensitive very difficult topic. the very tip of the sword i think in terms of cultural debate right now. what do we need? we need legislation that balances two very important rights. number one, not to be discriminated against unjustly. and secondly conscience
9:11 am
protection. now the question is, how do you do that? that is why we have hopefully states people statesmen, states women, who have wisdom to come up with such laws but that has got to be the goal. avoiding unjust discrimination which would be including making sure that there is no, you don't want into a bakery and have to be asked what is your homosexual, excuse me, your sexual preference inclination, et cetera. but then secondly, if somebody doesn't want to be a part of something that they believe is wrong, for example gay marriage well then they shouldn't be forced to violate their conscience. and i think most honest people don't want to violate someone else's conscience. if i if i'm getting married and i go to somebody who doesn't agree with the marriage that i'm, that i'm entering into well i think, i wouldn't want them to have to be a part of my wedding. that's reasonable people.
9:12 am
>> right. >> but activists sometimes are, rather unreasonable. >> what do you think about the fix, kennedy? people on the left say it doesn't go far enough protecting the lgbt community. however on the other side of the coin they're saying this is really unfair and waters it down? >> this is interesting. i'm from indiana. my dad was born there. my parents met at ball state. my dad said indiana is the buckle of the bible belt. you have very conservative factions. indianapolis is trying to reach out to various sporting events and conventions what they call a success story in the rust belt. i can't stand this stuff because it is so socially divisive. it creates more consequences than fixes. and i think that republicans and conservatives tend to lose when they get into these social arguments because you know the left gets so fired up and uses hashtags. so easy to brand indiana the
9:13 am
hate state, which it isn't. that is unnecessary and manufactured. >> kennedy it is not all about winning and losing politically. i think there are people, for example, not all about economics either all about economics are important. here's the example. if you run a company that, that organizes or plans weddings, okay, and you say i don't believe in gay marriage, and if a gay couple comes and says we want you to plan our wedding, i don't mean just making some cupcakes, you know, that somebody walks off the street i want you to plan my wedding -- >> i'm a libertarian. i think people rather should have the right to exist freely of government in most forms. i think a lot of times -- >> libertarian, republican democrat, it doesn't matter in this case. >> it does matter, if you're pro-liberty. i'm not just pro-liberty i'm pro-liberty across the board. economic liberty. >> i want to you plan my wedding that you disagree with. you say they shouldn't have to plan the wedding? >> i don't think the government
9:14 am
should step in and throw you in jail because of choices at that you make. if you're a smart baker you would make cakes for everybody regardless of it is adam and steve or larry and lorena. >> this debate harris, is not going away clearly. >> a lot of religion we're talking about, the timing of all this just two things indiana arkansas both states we've seen talking about doing so rewriting of their laws. we'll watch for those to pass. there are some economic victims in all of this. there is memories pizza company had to shutter its doors temporarily because of internet hate because they support the law in home state of indiana. a lot of news covering. >> after all the the talking, reports that iran and six world powers including u.s. in overtime finally agreed to some of the outlines of an understanding that would keep a nuclear weapon out of the clutches of iran's rogue regime. a statement from secretary of state john kerry is expected very soon. should pushy moms keep at

>> fox news alert right now. we are waiting a statement from secretary of state john kerry on nuclear talks with iran. the associated press report that iran and six world powers agreed to an outline that would open a path to the final phase of nuclear negotiations but they have not agreed yet how much to make public. this following week-long talks that busted through the march 31st deadline and threats that the united states would walk away if iran did not meet certain commitments. harris, let me start with you. that is really the key. you can't sit down at negotiating table i've always been taught, unless you're willing to stand up and walk away.
9:20 am
that is a position of strength. josh ernest reiterating that saying that the u.s. is prepared to walk away. do you believe that though? doesn't feel like it. >> a number of people already walked away and left their negotiators to sit at the table. when france walked away, they left. they have not come back. you have seen a couple leave and come back. but the ability to just get up and walk out is the power. >> right. >> if we're not going to exercise that power, it begs the question, what are we negotiating for? a former new york congressman on fox reports told me, he said this is the time you have to be careful for side deals to happen. we will never know b forget about the stuff they say they don't want to make public right now. the sidebars deals are ones we will never know b those are ones we will have to live with long after president obama has left office. we need to know what's going on and we do need to be prepared to walk away. that is if you buy a house or car, you always get a better deal. >> well, i mean that is the
9:21 am
question. pressure and agreement do not go together. so our friends need to decide whether they want to be with iran based on respect or want to continue based on pressure. do we respect a country that is a state sponsor of pressure though? >> no. but we are certainly giving them a lot of credibility. even a top iranian general said as part of this deal the destruction of israel is non-negotiatable. that is the moment that the united states should have got up from the table like the french did and left the room. the iranians doesn't want it written. who is to say we make a deal and we walk out and they say we never agreed to that. they're liars. they're terrorists. they call us the great satan. this deal, if we show them they will not leave the room until we get a deal, we're showing them we're weak and not enforce the deal. >> even howard dean, whoo, said to get up and walk away.
9:22 am
liberal lefty said, go ahead pack up your things. snap your briefcase shut. but i think that moment has pass because it is not really a power move at this point but it is like, oh, you guys are all gone and we're still here? >> never too late to get up. >> we'll get some punch. >> do you agree with the tough talk? >> sometimes it is necessary to have tough talk. i'm not i don't encourage tough talk just for tough talk sake but, andrea is so fun to argue with, even though i might not disagree with. andrea, when we encourage walking away from dialogue llke this, we have to have another alternative. and that's why i think dialogue should be at the very forefront of our options. because right now there is not much of a better option. >> but father -- >> you're saying, dialogue is crazy in this situation. >> actually that is not at all what i said. >> pretty much. >> that's not what she said.
9:23 am
>> even if you did not want me to have an argument with you. >> i don't ever do this. >> go. >> i know andrea and i both covered recently netanyahu, the israeli prime minister, what he said look this is not just about two options. this is not we go to war or you give us a deal. there is a lot of ground in between. it is called a better deal. >> for the record, i agree with you, harris. i still disagree with andrea. >> i'm her negotiator today. >> to clarify the record again, i never we should not have any kind of options on the table. >> maybe i wish you would have said that. >> you wished i said that. >> probably rash judgment on my part. >> you were praying i said something i didn't say? >> i totally agree with harris in this case. >> one of the highest ranking democrats in the senate, new jersey senator bob menendez heads to federal court facing corruption charges accused of accepting lavish gifts and campaign contributions but he says it is political payback by

>> fox news alert. we want to take you back to the story that's happening right now in new york city. we've gotten unsealed the criminal complaint. i want to tell you how this is unfolding. two queens, new york residents, we know they are women in that
9:42 am
their 20s and 30s. we on firmed this because we have the complaint. they are charged with using a weapon of mass destruction. they are accused giving help to the islamic state savages. here in new york city, on this holy thursday. this is breaking. the unsealed federal complaint was done so in brooklyn. they're expecting to see these two suspects in court later today. and i'm going to read this as we kind of have this coming in. so they will be at the courthouse. the charges were announced by the united states attorney for the eastern district of new york, just moments ago. let's bring this out to the couch right now. isis among us. it is something that we have talked about many times. father, i want to come to you first. we opened this up with the breaking news today from across the world. and a kenya university where christians are being held. where they're going through the school separating out the muslims and the non-muslims. islamic state, no matter what
9:43 am
the president says, islamic is part of their name. >> i thi obviously in the context of this holy week which christians, jews are celebrating major, major feasts. on this holy thursday in the christian faith, we remember that jesus washed the feet of his disciples and gave the new commandment of love as we talked about earlier. that loving your enemies loving your neighbor. when we see something like this going on, with isis, and how they're using these women and to what degree these women are responsible, i have no idea because we don't know enough about them. certainly brainwashing involving them in hate, the exact opposite of this love we talk about. and isis has to be stopped. and we stopped them how? by using the least amount of force necessary but all the force necessary in order to stop them and keeping them from killing the innocent. that's what these people are doing. we're one block away here from
9:44 am
times square. >> yeah. >> talk about bringing it home? these women most likely trying to disrupt innocent people, their lives killing the innocent, and doing exactly the opposite of what we remember today. >> so what we're learning from this complaint, father as you've been talking drilling down on it as quickly as i can apparently over some time these defendants these two women who are accused have allegedly plotted construct a explosive device to use on an attack on american soil and they repeatedly confessed their loyalty to violent jihad. >> etf been talking about how the fight -- we've been talking about how the fight by radicals has changed dramatically over the decades where more woman are radicalized. you don't have to be in a terror training camp overseas. you can be radicalized through the computer over the internet. they are preying on more woman. we heard the administration warn
9:45 am
about lone wolves. it looks like this is reality. we operate in denial a long time. you look at resources in new york city. you start to think about prioritizing. war on sugary drinks. all other things cops are tasked with. this should be number one about people being kept safe. we heard rob o'neill, the navy seal who shot usama bin laden. he said the war has changed and we need to change our tactics. >> isis was telling people who were willing to work with them in country not to leave american soil. do what you can where you are. >> wow! >> defendants in this case carefully studied how to construct the explosive device to launch an attack on the homeland. we're covering this. this news is wide open. stay close.

9:50 am
asked if she heard the news of a arrest of former us air men who traveled to syria and to wage jihad. she stated to people around here, according to the criminal complaint just been sealed is breaking news at this hour, she told the people around her that she didn't understand people are traveling overseas to engage in jihad when, quote there were more opportunities of pleasing allah right here in the united states. we're going to bring it back out to the couch, as we're watching this story unfold. one of the things that i have reported for shep's show. shepard reporting has to do with the islamic state involvement of women in their plan. it is vicious. they have put together a brigade of young women, mostly under the age of 25, headed by a young woman from britain, a 20-year-old from there. this is not a free situation that they're in. they're willing to die and they're basically getting nothing out of it. and you know, when you look at what is coming forth now, andrea made the point previously, we
9:51 am
don't usually see women caught up in this but isis has a different plan. >> especially harris, when you think how radical islam treats women. >> right. >> we say how could they possibly be wanting to support radical islam? i think it shows how when there's nothing inside of us, right when there is an emptiness, there is always going to be a search to fill us with something. i have a parish in the bronx. there is a lost gang activity around. you say, how can people get involved in such a thing? sound the like names of these go women are western names. >> horde to tell. knoll well and asia first two same. vale "ncis" how you pronounce the last name. >> when there is nothing inside the desire to fill the heart with something is very strong. it is very sad they were radicalized and to think that they would do this in the name of god they said to please
9:52 am
allah. to please allah to blow people up? like what happened in boston for example. sounds like they use some of their same tactics is truly, truly sad. >> can i ask you this as a person of faith? what do you do, what is the countermessage to fill up that void? obviously it is working. their market something very effective. they're recruiting a lot of people essentially in every middle eastern country where there is strife. what do you do, you can't change their mind but what can you do to change their hearts? >> in the break we're talking about your kids, how do you fill up their hearts? loving them, loving them. helping train their conscience to understand what is right and what is wrong. anybody, anybody no matter what their faith or no faith can recognize that some things are always right and other things are always wrong. that's based on human nature. i would call it the divine spark, that god has given us, that natural law, that we can
9:53 am
recognize whether you're a believer or non-believer, that some things are always wrong. and i think when we love each other, when especially children, and they can grasp that truth. >> i think that sounds great but with the prospect of people being blown to submitter reasons and -- submit they are reasons and we remember in new york city they killed what they claim to be religious holy war i think we need something stronger than just love. maybe the question we're asking, how do we handle this? you will not hug a terrorist to get -- >> don't put words in my mouth i put words in your mouth before. >> i'm asking what do you think we shoulda as far as in this country? how should we handle this? do you think boots on the ground over there? >> first of all when someone already has been radicalized, okay we stop them, using whatever force is necessary. okay. sometimes that means violence. seems that means dropping bombs.
9:54 am
sometimes stopping for example an invader into your home. you use a gun if you have to. i'm talking about before they're radicalized, before they're radicalized we have to fill people's hearts with love. >> talking about filling the void before it is filled with isis and terrorists. beyond that is seems like it is almost reconcilable. >> that is my concern. is there anything you can do to change it, once it is started? when it takes hold it creates a blackness and urgency that you know, that every other system of thought and religion has been unable to alter its course thus far. >> teaches us we pray for our enemies. that is what we're supposed to do. >> stop them from killing the innocent when they're not converting. >> all right a couple of things. the father was bringing us some news before because he mentioned the boston marathon bombing and i'm reading down this criminal complaint. apparently they were going to use similar devices, and had researched pressure cooker bombs
9:55 am
used during the boston marathon bombings. they had a self-proclaimed effort to make history, talking about two defendants, these two women, who have been arrested, just today. and they were queens residents. however they will be arraigned in court in brooklyn federal court, just a few short hours from now. that is something that we're covering. melissa? >> what is interesting and we need to mention, this is law enforcement figuring out what was going on and derailing it before it happened. >> amen. >> we feel like we're hearing a lot more things going on as people are detect, but what we're hearing about is them being detected before something happens. in this situation, whatever we'll learn more over the next few hours and days how exactly that was done. definitely recognize this is an effort that was thwarted before something terrible happens. >> policemen and women putting their lives on the line in order to stop something like this. >> making history. >> very boring lives.
9:56 am
>> when you read this criminal complaint they were doing this for quite some time. the arraignment scheduled for later today in brooklyn federal court. we'll continue to cover the story obviously as it makes news. two women arrested in their 20s or 30s reportedly and here in new york city, for wanting to wage violent jihad in the united states professing their allegiance to the islamic state savages. we'll take a quick commercial break. on the other side we'll have more with "happening now," continuing coverage of the breaking news. stay with us. okay, listen up! i'm re-workin' the menu. mayo? corn dogs? you are so outta here! aah!
