7:00 pm
s" right here on fnc. the three-hour event starts tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. as for the effort to kill memories pizza in walkerton indiana, not going so well. the go fund me effort is now up to $389,000. thanks for watching everybody. happy easter, happy passover. i'm megyn kelly. tonight. >> today the united states together with our allies and partners, has reached historic understanding with iran. >> did barack obama just make a deal with the devil? we'll have the latest details on the dangerous "framework for a deal with iran." indiana's still under attack over its religious freedom law. tonight, you'll hear from one family caught right in the middle of this fire storm. >> we're not discriminating against anyone. it's just that's our belief. >> word's out he hasn't paid any taxes for ten years.
7:01 pm
let him prove he's paid taxes. >> and harry reid lying is just old news. >> are you going to take that opportunity now? >> not for something that's three years old. >> and the outgoing senator? well, he could care less. plus, roma downy and mark burnett are here with a sneak peek at "the bible a.d." continues. welcome to "hannity." a preliminary nuclear deal with iran was reached earlier today. joining us from the white house is fox news chief washington correspondent james rosen. james, the white house spin is very different than what we're hearing from the iranians. what are we to make of this? >> sean, good evening. the real deal here is that we don't have a deal at all. we only have the parameters of a deal. and it now falls to the nuclear scientists and technical experts representing the u.s., iran and the other world powers to hammer out the technical details of a deal by june 30th. under the terms announced today, iran will see its inventory of
7:02 pm
installed centrifuges reduced from 19000 to about 6,000. that's roughly the number of centrifuges iran had installed when barack obama became president. no uranium enrichment will be permitted at iran's fordo facility for at least 15 years. enrichment only occur at natanz. and the plutonium reactor will be redesigned and rebuilt to cut off a plutonium path. nuclear inspectors from the iaea will investigate suspicious sites without the ability to conduct snap inspections. iran will have to address the possible military dimension to its nuclear program. its research on warheads and re-entry vehicles something on which it has long stonewalled the iaea up to the present day. and eu and american sanctions will be suspended in tandem with compliance and supposedly snapped back in the event of noncompliance. president obama acknowledged this is not a done deal in his remarks in the rose garden, but he cast these terms as
7:03 pm
preferable to war. >> there will be strict limits on iran's program for a decade. additional restrictions on building new facilities or stockpiling materials will last for 15 years. the unprecedented transparency measures will last for 20 years or more indeed some will be permanent. and as a member of the nuclear nonproliferation treaty, iran will never be permitted to develop a nuclear weapon. >> just 15 months ago when these negotiations were getting underway, president obama told the brookings institution, we know that the iranians don't need to have an underground fortified facility like fordow in order to have a peaceful nuclear program. they certainly don't need a heavy water reactor at iraq in order to have a peaceful nuclear program." so it's just an indication sean of how far the united states has dialed back its original negotiating posture over the course of the 16 months of these negotiations. sean. >> i think that's called capitulation. anyway, james rosen at the white house tonight. thank you for being with us.
7:04 pm
here with reaction from the american enterprise institute michael rubin and author of the book, warrior, diplomat a green beret's battles. colonel, it's interesting the way the president spun this and how the iranians spun this. listen to the iranian chief negotiator and what he had to say. >> we will continue enriching. we will continue research and development. our heavy water reactor will be modernized. and we will continue the fordow facility. we will have, as you will hear, centrifuges installed in fordow but not enriching. we will remain committed to the agreement. and we will not enrich in fordow. >> colonel do you have trouble with this agreement? or this interim agreement? or preliminary agreement? or agreement to agree down the line? what's your reaction to it? >> well, sean, i think the key there was iranian foreign
7:05 pm
minister's emphasis on the sanctions. those sanctions were starting to hurt the regime. and they were starting to hurt their front companies. they were really putting a strangle hold on the regime's control and power. unfortunately the president has couched this as a false choice between a bad deal or war when there was a lot of middle ground we could have continued to do -- >> a better deal. >> such as continued sanctions diplomatic isolations to get to a better deal. absolutely. >> what is your reaction to this, michael? i think in the process here we discovered that they had been cheating early on in the beginning of these negotiations. so they've lied in the past. they've cheated in the past. then of course they were chanting death to america two weeks ago. and then the iranian military chief is saying destroying israel is nonnegotiable. why are we even sitting at the stable? if they want to join the world community and have sanctions lifted shouldn't that have been
7:06 pm
a prerequisite first? >> i would absolutely agree with that statement, sean. president obama gives them too much credit when he says they complied with the joint plan of action. well, the joint plan of action was so narrow it's almost as if a policeman is giving a sobriety test to a drunk driver and says can you count to one. and he does. the real problem with the agreement is that the international atomic energy agency is supposed to monitor it. but the international atomic energy agency, number one, isn't allowed by its own bylaws to monitor covert sites only declared sites. number two, iran has said its compliance with the iaea will be voluntary only. third and last, in 1991 south africa gave up its nuclear program. the iaea required south africa to come clean with 20 years of nuclear work in order to be able to certify that its program was clean. but the way obama has negotiated, iran doesn't have to do that. the iaea's already said we can't police this agreement. >> thank you both for your
7:07 pm
insight. thanks for being here. so what does israel think about today's agreement? joining us now with more reaction is former israeli ambassador dore gold. ambassador, i look at this they get to keep their fortified underground facility which obama rightly said a couple years ago which they don't need for peaceful purposes they get to spin 6,000 centrifuges, they get the sanctions lifted which means they have more money back in their pocket. but yet the president is saying this is the best option for israel. i would beg to differ, but i want your thoughts. >> let me put this in very direct terms. this framework leaves the iranian nuclear infrastructure in tact. the same infrastructure that will allow iran in the future to develop atomic bombs to be used against its adversaries in the middle east. this is a very dangerous agreement. and i would even say it's an error ofproportions.
7:08 pm
>> i would call it -- myself. but why just yesterday you have the iranian military chief suggesting destroying israel is nonnegotiable, chanting death to america two weeks ago. my question is if they want to join the world of nations, don't they have to alter the behavior as a prerequisite before lifting sanctions and getting everything they want up front? >> absolutely. i mean you now have an expansionist iran. which has boots on the ground in syria, in iraq they're involved in training the houthis in yemen, lebanon. they're encircling jordan, they want to encircle israel. you would think before you would talk about taking off sanctions you get them to change. this agreement does nothing, absolutely nothing about iranian behavior. >> munich 2. all right, ambassador thank you. a bad deal if it goes through. when we come back, those pizza
7:09 pm
owners in indiana that was asked a hypothetical question, would she cater a wedding for a gay couple, by the way who has their wedding at a pizza place? she answered honestly. now that family is receiving death threats. and they've had to close their store. they'll tell the story up next. plus, senator santorum, former hul et packard ceo carly fiorina and much, much more.
7:11 pm
welcome back to "hannity." as the controversy surrounding the indiana religious freedom law plays out on a national stage, one local family from walkerton indiana has been caught in this firestorm. crystal and kevin o'connor are the owners of a family run local restaurant named memories pizza. they've faced harassment and even death threats after crystal
7:12 pm
answered a reporter's hypothetical question asking if she would cater a gay wedding. watch this. >> if a gay couple was to come in, like say we wanted -- they wanted us to provide them pizzas for a wedding, we would have to say no. >> negative reaction to that answer became so intense that the o'connors were forced to close down their pizzeria out of concerns for their own safety. joining me now are the owners kevin and his daughter crystal o'connor. guy, good to see you. first, let me ask, i've never heard of a wedding being held at a pizza place. have you ever catered a wedding before? >> no. >> no. >> all right. but the hypothetical was brought to you. what has been the reaction? mr. o'connor we'll start with you. >> just anger. bitterness. it's something i never expected
7:13 pm
or imagined when the comments were made. unimaginable to me. >> i read crystal that in fact on the other side of that that people have been sending you guys donations. that true too? >> yes, it is. >> pretty significant amount, $140,000 so far? >> reached more than that. >> i think it's more than that now, sean. >> why do you feel that you need to shut down your business? i mean, is it that intense? i mean look if you google my name or look on social media sites, a lot of horrible things are said there. i just don't read them. i'm smart enough not to read it. i know you're not in the public eye. it may be new to you, but what about those people that really like your pizza? like your moral stand? agree with you in terms of your faith? what about those people? would you not want to stay open for them? >> we shut down because we had
7:14 pm
no way to differentiate whether we were getting real orders or fake orders. and the phone just never quit ringing. it rang from 8:00 in the morning continuously until some time at night. and i got that from an office person next door. so there was no way we could handle it. >> crystal, do you think you'll be able to stay there? or do you think you have to leave? >> no, we plan on reopening soon. we just don't know when. >> all right, guys. thank you for sharing your story. appreciate it. and sorry that's happening. joining me now with more reaction former pennsylvania senator rick santorum potential 2016 presidential candidate. what's your reaction to this and the law and the, you know, reaction of people to the law? what do you say? >> well, as you know, sean, i run a movie company and we actually did a movie last year called one generation away. which is an hour and a half long
7:15 pm
documentary on religious liberty. and in that film we talked about who you may recall a florist from washington state. and melissa klein who had sweet cakes in portland oregon. they're in the exact same situation only in this case they actually had someone come in and order a cake and order flowers. and both of them by the way had served gay and lesbian clientele very willingly, but they were not willing to participate in a ceremony that they had a religious objection to. so -- if you listen to the pizzamaker you just talked to, they're perfectly willing to serve anybody that comes in their door. the question is, should they be forced by the government to participate in a religious activity that they disagree with? i would ask the question do we want to force a gay-owned print shop to print signs for the
7:16 pm
westboro baptist church. no we shouldn't force it. we should allow tolerance. >> somebody wants you to print isis t-shirts or -- that might not even be a religious issue. would you have the freedom to choose not to do something that goes against your moral compass? that's the question. >> and it's not -- no one's for discrimination. i'm certainly not for discrimination. the people i'm sure you talk to are not discriminating against an individual for who they are. >> so how do you thread that needle though? >> that's how you do it. you're not allowed discrimination based upon the color of someone's skin or because they happen to have a particular sexual orientation. but you can say i don't want to participate in activities that i have a religious objection to. i think that's the differentiate. and the problem is we sort of blurred this line. and now we're saying look anybody who objects to anything in this area is somehow
7:17 pm
discriminatory or bigoted and that's simply not the case. and laws should be in place to protect people's conscience rights. >> ted cruz has been very critical of his fellow republicans basically ripping them for caving in and even changing the law. do you think the law was okay in its original form? or do you think that both mike pence and asa hutchinson were right? >> asa just signed the bill today. i think the change they made was simply to conform it to the federal law. i voted for that federal law. i believe that's a fine law. i believe the original arkansas law frankly was fine. but, you know, either is fine. here's the interesting thing about either of these laws. none of those laws are going to protect this pizzeria if they don't under the current way courts are deciding this, the courts are actually not allowing for conscious protections for people who do not want to be involved in a same-sex wedding ceremony. they're not providing that. these laws simply create an opportunity for this to be before the court.
7:18 pm
they don't require anything. but they allow the people who have a conscientious objection to bring this statute up if the government's trying to force them to do something. that's all this does. it does not allow discrimination. and i think what ted is legitimately complaining about is we've seen a lot of republicans run for the hills when the left comes out and starts to hammer. and we need to stand for the truth. we need to stand for true tolerance. >> senator, thanks for being with us. we'll be waiting for your 2016 announcement. let us know when it's happening. >> thank you very much, sean. here with more on the discussion is brian philips murphy and father jonathan morris. it impacted, what, the sisters of mercy i believe on the obamacare ruling and catholic charities, catholic hospitals, should they be forced to provide birth control and morning after pill when it goes against their religious belief. that became a pretty big issue. >> i would be the first one to say that some bakery for example that says no gays allowed, that
7:19 pm
bakery should be shut down. >> that's discriminatory. >> that's discriminatory. we already have laws in the united states, thank god, that have said it is illegal to put signs like that up or no blacks allowed or no jews allowed. >> what about in the case of this pizza owner -- >> first of all that was a total setup. like you said who goes to a pizza shop and asks them to cater their wedding. >> i never heard of a wedding by a pizza place. >> that's what's happening. hypothetical situations. what i would ask to just as i said that place should be shut down if they say no gays allowed. how about people on the other side? exactly. how about this? >> is that -- would that be all right from your perspective? is that better exercise of religion? >> how about this -- >> why don't you like my example? >> let me tell you why. it's very close. but how about a wedding planning company? in other words depending on how
7:20 pm
intimately you are involved in the ceremony itself, you can say that is an undo burden on my conscience. or how about this should i be forced to do a gay wedding? >> would you? >> no i wouldn't. >> i think the distinction though is there's a la terj kal component and then there's this commercial side where we've slipped into talking about bakeries and pizzerias. >> and flowers. >> and flowers. and some are necessities and some are issues of convenience. >> with all due respect the constitution does not talk about litter la ter ji. talking about passing a law that would keep us from exercising our religious freedom. >> sure. >> that's not just litergy. >> free exercise thereof. we're talking about people's deeply held religious
7:21 pm
conviction. and in that sense do we grant them the ultimate right to do that? >> i think the slippage we're seeing is that after in a post-hobby lobby word, corporations and closely held companies -- >> you're not answering my question. how pure are you in the first amendment to allow the free exercise thereof? >> i think the free -- if the free exercise doesn't impend upon people's civic -- >> so you're going to force the baker to bake the cake force florists -- force the photographer to do it. force the pizza place to have the wedding. >> makes that a crime, absolutely not. i think the issue is that in this case people are participating in a marketplace and they want to advertise we don't do this particular thing. that's fine. >> many would be saying these pizza owners -- first of all i don't think they should have said what they said. of course we'll sell pizza to anybody who wants to buy pizza because they're not participating closely in a wedding ceremony. but there are many activist groups right now who are saying
7:22 pm
prosecute these people, prosecute and also prosecute people like myself who might not want to do a gay wedding. >> i think this debate will go further and further. i think you're giving a preview of coming attractions. >> happy thursday. >> thank you. former hewlett packard ceo carly fiorina says should get their facts straight. and later tonight, dismissing harry reid's admitted lying about mitt romney's tax record. we won so who cares about the lies straight ahead. >> we will love our enemies. >> incredible story told like never before. >> is this the story of -- >> a must-see movie event friday on the fox news channel. don't hide it... tackle it with fda-approved jublia! jublia is a prescription medicine proven to treat toenail fungus. use jublia as instructed by your doctor. once applied
7:23 pm
7:25 pm
while she openly supports benefits for same-sex couples, she's blasting corporate leaders who have rushed to attack religious freedom bills. she posted on facebook yesterday, "it is frankly sad to me that politics has become a fact-free zone. and it's sad that so many people on the left were quick to turn this into a divisive and destructive debate so they could further their own brand of identity politics. it's sad that the ceos took to twitter before checking their facts adding to the division instead of helping to build tolerance." former hewlett packard ceo carly fiorina joins us to explain. it's interesting to me, carly, i use the term selective moral outrage. a lot of people they're all upset about this bill. i haven't heard loud voices from the left or womens groups or gay rights groups about the treatment of women and gays under sharia or hillary clinton taking money from these countries that treat women and gays abhorrently. so is there a double standard?
7:26 pm
is this just a political issue for the left? >> of course. of course. and your phrase, selective moral outrage, i think is very well taken. i've been pointing to an example right here in the united states where was the outrage when columbia university invited mahmoud ahmadinejad of iran to address students. he then said there were no gays in iran and went onto blast gays. i didn't hear anybody being upset about this. i think it's such a shame. religious liberty must be protected in this country. it's a principle upon which we were founded. and as i said in that facebook post last night, it's a shame when ceos get pressured into jumping into the fray in a di visive fashion. and they were pressured. lots of special interest groups pressuring them. >> and the ceo for example of apple, they want to build a store in tehran. >> that's right. >> what is tehran's record on
7:27 pm
gay rights and womens rights? it's pretty atrocious, right? >> that's right. exactly. absolutely. so they're concerned about doing business in indiana. but they're not concerned about doing business in tehran or china or anywhere elsewhere we know human rights of all kinds including gays and womens rights are violated. >> you may be running for president. you've been pretty outspoken against hillary clinton. hillary clinton's foundation, the clinton foundation, took all this money from countries that have abysmal human rights records for both gays and for womens rights. how do you address that from the political standpoint? and wanting to oppose her in 2016. >> well you know i think anyone who's running for president has to be examined on the basis of both their character and their capability. so when i take on hillary clinton's lack of accomplishment, and her lack of track record that's about her capability. when i talk about the fact that
7:28 pm
she peddled a fiction for four weeks about benghazi, or her ridiculous assertions about the e-mail servers, or to your point the hypocrisy about taking money from regimes that routinely suppress the most basic rights for women. this is about character. and i think those are very legitimate discussions for anyone who wants to run for president including hillary clinton. >> all right. carly fiorina, thanks so much for being with us. my next guest says the movement that for years has fought for tolerance and gay rights is now turning into intolerant fascism. nationally syndicated talk show host tammy bruce is here to explain what she meant. you said fascist bullies, that's the actual term. >> yeah. >> why? >> well, look, for all of us we've embraced the civil rights movements of this country, which were about allowing people to live the lives that best suit them. for gay people it was about living our lives decently without being attacked by others because we were different or refuse to conform. and here we are now in the 21st
7:29 pm
century with christians being attacked by gay bullies because they're different and they don't conform to the leftist narrative or to the leftest estest estist agenda. this is the antithesis of what every gay rights movement was about and not what we've been fighting for for generations. it's something that i think americans see inherently as mean they're bullies, this has nothing to do -- i don't know how shutting down christian businesses has anything to do with equal rights. it casts us as bad people. and it reverses any kind of progress, i think, we've made in the last couple of generations. >> these are very strong words coming from you. and i've known you for years. >> yep. >> and you were once the president of the national organization for women in i think the los angeles chapter. >> that's right. >> you don't really speak out a lot about gay rights, but when the issues come up you do talk about them. >> well, i think being present's important. and when it's politically
7:30 pm
relevant i discuss it. but it is a private part of my life. but i've also been a community organizer all of my adult life on gay issues and on womens issues. because i think that when minorities lives improve, all of our lives improve. >> so let me ask you, we keep hearing the example of the baker and the wedding cake or the florist and flowers. now you have pizza owners. >> right. >> they have deeply held religious convictions. >> yes. >> and they didn't want to rent out -- i don't know who wants to rent a pizza parlor for a wedding. but that's beside the point. >> it's a hypothetical argument, suggestion. almost as though you've got packs of wolves now targeting small christian-owned businesses saying are you going to negate your faith? are you going to abandon what you believe in? or we will hurt you effectively. will you conform our narrative? >> do they have the right to practice their faith that way even if it is exclusionary? >> well, yes. but keep in mind when i say to some gay friends a lot is not everything is about us.
7:31 pm
that this isn't about refusing service to a gay person. this is about a christian individual not participating in an act that is against their faith. so even if you had a heterosexual go in for a cake for a gay wedding, that person wouldn't get the cake either. so it's not refusing service to someone who's gay. it is the person who is unique, who is not conforming, who is an individual who does not want to participate in an act that violates their faith. now, of all people in the world who should understand the need to be respected for who we are, the risks at being different, the ability to make a living and to be safe it's the gay community. for us to put onto these small business owners this kind of totalitarian boot is clearly us becoming the monster that we were fighting against. >> last question, what is your reaction to hillary taking money from countries with these abysmal human rights records? >> well, look, my first book is called "the new thought police"
7:32 pm
and it explained that sexism racism and homophobia live on the left. the clintons in large part what made me move from the democratic party. because of the hypocrisy on the left. this isn't about even gays. this is about leftist politics wanting to affect the election, divide americans and use minority groups, ride those backs to certain kinds of power and money. the clintons have done it for years. the gay -- the leftist gay community has done it. there are lots of good gays standing up against the atrociousness of what's happening. >> last question. i'm running out of time. i kind of view myself as the average person. i don't think most people really care what anybody's doing. i mean we're kind of all self-centered in that way. >> well, live and let live. >> do you think most americans are tolerant? because i believe they are. >> yes, my life experience even as a community organizer they are. i'm a big fan of organizing and protest however but what americans will reject and i think the left has overreached here is this kind of bullying
7:33 pm
this kind of fascism in the name of equality. because it doesn't make sense. >> it's a powerful statement. and it's going to be interesting to see the reaction over time. tammy, good to see you by the way. congratulations on your move to snow for the first time. >> yes, loving it. >> next coming up tonight here on "hannity". >> to call out conduct unbecoming of our highest elected officials when it is in fact unbecoming, are you going to take that opportunity now? >> not for something that's three years old. >> the white house says that senator harry reid lied about mitt romney to win an election for democrats. that's old news. lying's okay. coming up next, frank luntz joe trippie here with reaction. ren always wanted me to quit smoking but i resigned myself to the fact that it wasn't going to work. but chantix helped me do it. along with support, chantix (varenicline) is proven to help people quit smoking. it gave me the power to overcome the urge to smoke. some people had changes in behavior, thinking or mood hostility, agitation, depressed mood and suicidal thoughts or actions while taking or after stopping chantix. some people had seizures while taking chantix. if you have any of these
7:34 pm
stop chantix and call your doctor right away. tell your doctor about any history of mental health problems, which could get worse while taking chantix or history of seizures. don't take chantix if you've had a serious allergic or skin reaction to it. if you develop these stop chantix and see your doctor right away as some can be life-threatening. tell your doctor if you have a history of heart or blood vessel problems or develop new or worse symptoms. get medical help right away if you have symptoms of a heart attack or stroke. decrease alcohol use while taking chantix. use caution when driving or operating machinery. common side effects include nausea trouble sleeping and unusual dreams. i'm a non-smoker. ask your doctor if chantix is right for you. (son) oh no... can you fix it, dad? yeah, i can fix that. (dad) i wanted a car that could handle anything. i fixed it! (dad) that's why i got a subaru legacy. (vo) symmetrical all-wheel drive plus 36 mpg. i gotta break more toys. (vo) the twenty-fifteen subaru legacy.
7:37 pm
(vo) if you have type 2 diabetes you may know what it's like to deal with high... and low blood sugar. januvia (sitagliptin) is a once-daily pill that, along with diet and exercise helps lower blood sugar. januvia works when your blood sugar is high and works less when your blood sugar is low, because it works by enhancing your body's own ability to lower blood sugar. plus januvia, by itself, is not likely to cause weight gain or low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). januvia should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. tell your doctor if you have a history of pancreatitis. serious side effects can happen, including pancreatitis which may be severe and lead to death. stop taking januvia and call your doctor right away if you have severe pain in your stomach area which may be pancreatitis. tell your doctor right away and stop taking januvia if you have an allergic reaction that causes swelling of the face, lips tongue, or throat, or affects your breathing or causes rash or hives. kidney problems sometimes requiring
7:38 pm
dialysis have been reported. using januvia and a sulfonylurea or insulin together may cause low blood sugar. to reduce the risk, your doctor may prescribe a lower dose of the sulfonylurea or insulin. your doctor may perform blood tests before and during treatment to check your kidneys. if you have kidney problems a lower dose may be prescribed. side effects may include upper respiratory tract infection, stuffy or runny nose and sore throat, and headache. for help lowering your blood sugar talk to your doctor about januvia today. welcome back to "hannity." earlier this week senate minority leader harry reid was asked about when back in 2012 he falsely accused governor mitt romney of tax evasion. say he was unapologetic would be an understatement. watch this. >> no one would help me.
7:39 pm
they were afraid the coat tails would go after them. so i did it on my own. >> no regrets? some people call it mccarthyite. >> well, they can call it whatever they want. romney didn't win, did he? >> by any means necessary. pretty unbelievable. and james rosen asked white house press secretary john earnest about senator reid's response about lying to win an election. well, earnest, he just dismissed it as old news. >> i wonder if president obama who has lamented this instability in our politics, this disrespect in our politics, has any view of harry reid telling dana bash in response to this question, well, romney didn't get elected, did he? >> well, i haven't had the opportunity to talk to the president about senator reid's interview. obviously senator reid is somebody who's going to decide for himself about what he says on the senate floor. >> but it's the president's
7:40 pm
choice and his spokesman's choice to call out conduct unbecoming of our highest elected officials when it is in fact unbecoming. are you going to take that opportunity now? >> not for something that's three years old. >> all right. here now with reaction pollster frank luntz democratic strategist joe trippi. i guess lying works, joe. just keep lying about anybody and as long as you win by any means necessary. >> well, first of all it was the republican who fed harry reid the information according to reports on -- >> oh that makes it all the better. >> no -- >> harry reid's reiterated the lie. >> no, and harry reid might have believed it was true because of who it came from. that's exactly right. when he did it. that doesn't absolve him of saying i thought it was true when i said it. >> barack obama saying -- hang on. let me go through it. their plan is for dirty air and dirty water and the plan is to
7:41 pm
have the sick and elderly and young people fend for themselves. and let's see, they're going to put you all in chains. >> and the republican said nothing that was untrue about barack obama and the democrats in that election either. >> i'll listen to what they said. anything i said that was untrue? i think as a matter of fact i've been more than accurate about obama. >> of course you are. >> thank you. frank luntz here's the bottom line. you know, if al gore says republicans before predominantly african-american audience, they don't even want to count you in the census. or vice president biden they want to put you all back in chains, or harry reid's statement or obama saying that republicans want dirty air and dirty water. this happens every election cycle but the reality is they get away with it. and it works. and harry reid was just being honest. it wins elections. it works. >> well, let's set the context. the number one attribute that the american people want in a presidential candidate is
7:42 pm
someone who says what they mean and means what they say. and the number one attribute they want in washington right now is accountability. >> they say that, but lying works frank. >> it works. >> they use it every election cycle. joe trippi's friends lie. >> it doesn't work. obama's not a muslim. he wasn't born in kenya. >> i never said he was a muslim. >> i didn't say you did. a lot of republicans did. >> name one prominent republican that called him a muslim. >> oh, come on. >> who? >> it never happened. >> it doesn't necessarily work. look, harry reid is stepping down. he's not running for re-election. six weeks ago he was absolutely going to do it. i am convinced, sean that he did a poll and realized that his own state had turned against him. that his own state said enough is enough. we don't want the partisanship that senator reid offers. i think if he thought he was going to win re-election he absolutely would have gone. he realized that the people of nevada said i'm not voting for you again, i'm not putting this kind of politics back into
