alert. a south carolina police officer is behind bars for murder. >> an unarmed black man shot multiple times in the back. >> good morning ladies. that police officer could be headed to death row. a witness capturing the horrific exchange that left a father of four lying dead in the grass. [ gunshots ] can you see walter lamar scott running from officer michael slager as the officer fires eight shots at the coast guard veteran. the confrontation happened during a routine traffic stop. the officer pulled him over for a broken taillight and said that he feared for his life because scott took his stun gun during a scuffle. the taser line does appear to be attached to scott as he's running from the officer right before the shots are fired. >> you make a bad decision, don't care if you're behind the shield or just a citizen on the

street. you have to live by that decision. >> officer slager is behind bars at the defense center in south carolina after being denied bond at a hearing late last night. scott's family now demanding justice. >> i don't think that all police officers are bad cops, but there are some bad ones out there. and i don't want to see anyone get shot down the way that my brother got shot. >> the family plans to file a civil lawsuit against the police department in north charleston. the justice department is also looking into the case. ainsley? thank you, anna. a tournament tragedy. seven people are now dead after their small plane crashes on the way home from the ncaa final. conditions fog in central illinois could be to blame for that crash. two out of the seven are identified as employees of illinois state university. here are their pictures. the deputy athletics director

and the associate head basketball coach tory ward. the two-engine cessna going down less than 2 miles from the airport. the electric company that cut off power to a house where a father and his seven children died of carbon monoxide poisoning has been subpoenaed. they said the electric was disconnected for safety reasons, and not because he was behind on the bill. the company says that it found a stolen electric meter on the mobile home last month. police subpoenaed the company to document exactly when it did or what it did and when. the family was using a generator for power. todd, his two sons and five daughters seen in this family photo, all found dead on monday. overnight hundreds of firefighters battling flames on top of a building in los angeles. look at this. you can see the flames shooting from the fifth floor of a six-story office building with thick, black smoke pouring into

care if you pay for it. >> he opens himself up from conservative hawks who say he is weak in the area. >> rand paul supports president obama's negotiations with iran, but he doesn't understand the threat. >> paul begins his first day as an official candidate in new hampshire today and continued his kickoff touring south carolina, nevada and california. the latest fox news poll taken before paul's announcement has him in sixth place among likely republican voters. many analysts call him a long shot but they say three does have a path to the nomination. >> he's got to find a way to win one of the early contests. iowa's dominated by social conservatives. his father had a good organization there. i think his best shot would be new hampshire which is an open primary. independents can vote in the republican or democratic side.

a runoff election defeating jesus garcia. emanuel thanked voters for giving him a second chance, but he has big problems, including a financial problem and violence in the city. the town of ferguson just tripled the number of african-americans on the city council. now three of the six seats are held by black residents which more easily mirrors the demographic of ferguson. voters came out in droves doubling the amount from last year's elections. the jury in the boston bombing trial had a lot of questions for the judge. molly line is hearthere with the latest. >> reporter: after seven hours of deliberation, they have yet to reach their verdict. given the defense attorney's repeated admissions in opening and closing argumenting that sar

was happening. right now cyber crooks might be using your personal information whenever they see something valuable that they can steal. time magazine recently listed some of the areas where you may be susceptible. hackers use stolen frequent flyer miles to buy tickets and upgrade seats. we've seen the recent attacks on health insurance companies and it turns out they are using stolen medical benefits to see their own doctors and obtain service. a rare occurrence is when they use your name. and you don't become aware of it until a police officer stops you for a wrong turn or some other traffic violation only to learn there's a warrant out for your arrest. some are using ransom viruses locking you out of your computer. they refuse to unlock your files until you transfer thousands of dollars to them in order to have those files unlocked.
