wanted to kill soldiers execution style on a military base. he left ohio yesterday buying a one-way ticket to greece but vanished during a lay joefr in turkey where investigators believe he slipped into syria. mahmoud wanted to follow in his brother's foot he died in a battle and he told an informant he was happy about it and he would be next. days later he returned to the united states and waudzs arrested thursday. he is one of terrorist wannabes. he will be in federal court at 11:00 a.m. he's expected to plead not guilty. anna kooiman joining us. thank you. that brings us to our look who is talking this morning. rudy giuliani says he's not surprised about the rise in home grown terror and he says that we need to be more proactive in stopping it. >> we have got to have surveillance on these groups in

comes as the rebels plunged yemen into a civil war. >> the al-assad air base is 60 miles from ramadi. we have troops training the soldiers at the base which was already attacked in february. officials say they don't have plans to close the base but if ramadi falls could we see that fall? >> the question is if it gives isis enough of a base to dig into. from there they could launch attacks on al assad air base. how much harm's way is it worth having those american trainers in in order to train the iraqi army. the last thing the pentagon wants is in some way having isis over run or being able to come in and attack al-assad or cause

the severe weather pattern will continue across the central u.s. over the next couple days. this will be something you watch especially if you live out there and we have the potential to see more tornadoes not only as we head into today but through the weekend saturday and sunday across the plains. here's a look at the areas at higher risk. that includes parts of southern texas and northwestern kansas southwestern parts of nebraska. those are the hire risk areas of large hail damaging winds and tornadoes. but the entire region from parts of southern nebraska to southern texas are looking at the possibility of bigger storms. further east across the gulf coast how much heavy rain we have picked up. we have seen showers and storms over the last several days and the forecast is for several more inches of rain through the panhandle georgia alabama and further west through louisiana. flash flooding continues to be a concern. parts of colorado and wyoming we are expecting about two feet of

snowfall. that had been ongoing. here's a forecast over the next couple of days we are expecting another additional 1-2 feet across parts of colorado. significant snow out there. when you take a look at the temperatures across the country the only cold spot is where we have the snow across parts of colorado and also wyoming. most of the nation looking spring like. temperatures across the eastern u.s. in the 70's and 60's for many of you. even along the west coast not bad 79 degrees for the high temperature in l.a. heather and ainsley over to you. >> talk about snow and 87 in florida. mixed bag. >> thank you very much. we will check back with you. governor rick scott is suing the obama administration claiming they are bullying his skatetate into expanding medicaid. the administration is withholding billions of dollars from another program that funds hospitals treating the poor or uninsured. that program is set to expire in june.

their procedures and to get some useful lessons from it. >> that was actually josh earnest talking about the other incident we are going to talk about this morning which is that a gyrocopter that landed on the west side of the capitol raised all kind of issues about security. the pilot of the gyrocopter a florida mailman doug hughes was in court yesterday. he was released for home detention in florida. he was ordered to stay away from washington until he has his next court date. he faces federal charges for the bizarre landing. >> since hughes announced his plans on the internet well in advance can the secret service be held accountable for allowing this to happen? >> well, the secret service doesn't provide security at the u.s. capitol. that's u.s. capitol police that does that. the secret service did interview mr. hughes back in 2013.

two feet of snowfall off of parts of colorado and parts of wyoming. that's in addition to what we have already on the ground. associated with the storm system energy moving eastward will fire up severe storms across the plains. it is all interrelated. there's a lot of moisture and warm temperatures. the storm will help produce the risk for severe storms not only in texas but oklahoma. also parts of kansas and southern parts of februarynebraska. you have reports of damaging winds and large hail, too. flash flooding remains a concern. we could see up to 6 inches of rainfall locally in the areas from the storms. this is in addition to what we have already seen the last couple days ground already saturated in many of the areas. we will keep an eye on it. it is 38 minutes after the top of the hour. chaos on a train platform when a man loses his grip. he falls on to the train tracks. how this group of strangers
