oval office and elizabeth mccord helped prevent another cold war. thank you, ma'am. perhaps the scene from "game of thrones" sums it up best. >> one, two. one, two. one, two. one, two. one, two. >> i don't think that was the right tape. can we try again fellas ? >> the seven kingdoms is triewld and loved by a powerful army and the right powerful name. >> good luck finding him. >> who said anything about him? >> who indeed? who said anything about him tom? >> i didn't. i wouldn't. do you agree with how americans have become more open to a woman president because of tv? >> i think the republicans if they have a slogan it should be just not this one. they are open to it. and yes see women are ruling everything.
12:05 am
they've got to get away from this women are like -- we are down on our luck. they are the best characters on tv. patty hughes, peggy olson i love this character sara linden all great feminists. kailey frye i never stop talking about her. women are ruling in comedy. amy schumer broad city. tina fey, amy poehler, it is ridiculous. women have it going on in anyway possible. the one thing we can keep from them hopefully is the presidency. >> you are trying your best aren't you? lisa yes or yes is this a hollywood conspiracy to get hillary clinton elected? >> yes. it definitely has nothing to do with other people like margaret thatcher being a good leader. nobody said -- thatcher was pretty good, i mean for a woman, she was pretty good. i think that anyone but her. i would go with that. i think that is carly fee
12:06 am
rena's slogan. >> if she were smart. you were saying earlier that you liked it a lot better when politics and business was -- let me quote an old boy's club. please elaborate. >> can i have my cigar please? >> i haven't seen an episode of "game of thrones" and now i know the bald guy talks to the little guy and it blows up the whole thing. >> sorry for the spoiler. >> son of a -- i mean are voters really following who they watch on tv? wouldn't we have voted for like like -- i mean omar from "the wire" would be in the white house for now if we were basing our votes on who you liked on tv, right? >> he was considered a vice presidential pick. >> i don't think that's true. >> obama is a huge fan and he said he considered picking him over joe biden. >> really? >> yes. >> that would have been awesome. >> joanne who is your favorite character on tv besides yourself? >> you know i watch the
12:07 am
kardashians mostly and no one wants any of them to be president. i have watched a lot of "scandal" and owe live -- olivia pope is a strong character. all it taught me is women are sneaky and conniving and then melt when they are in the arms of a man who has a six-pack and a cor did past. sordid past. we just need to get rid of all men. >> that sounds fair. >> it evens it out. >> i like that. you brought up olivia pope. she wanted to steal an election like hillary clinton is doing right now too. >> that was like 18 years ago. >> that was the first episode. >> i said luke i'm not your father on tv the other day and someone said spoiler alert. >> what is that from? meanwhile in other hillary

news another man's obituary is asking mourners not to vote for her. he died at age 81 and was passionate about politics and his family added this line to his obit, the family asks you do not vote for hillary clinton in 2016, r.i.p. grand daddy. will you honor his wishes ? >> they will. our condolences to the family and we obviously lost a viewer. >> one of our younger ones i believe. >> you said it, not me. >> good night, everybody. >> i think this guy is great. obviously this is the kind of thing you want to take to your grave. >> lisa larry's son said, quote, we know he is up there giggling right now. >> how many people have to die for hillary not to be president? i mean how many? i am italian and we can figure this out.
12:09 am
>> it could be 50 million. how italian are you? >> pretty italian. >> we'll talk after the show. how would you like mourners to honor you after you die? >> with a back shaver and a smile. i find this story so heart warming of the let's remember grand daddy for his burning hatred for this woman. i remember the first time he bought me a new bicycle and used the b-word. it really makes you cry. that's nice. >> joanne what will you ask mourners to do in your obituary? >> i would want to have fun. at the end it will say turn around. i'm right behind you. jk! >> that's not funny. >> it is. >> that's creepy. >> i watch "long island medium" a lot. another strong woman there. >> we'll leave it at that. they are not safe from the views they disagree with. femme fist activists at georgetown university asked
12:10 am
for trigger warnings before a feminist. they are concerned that her speech could traumatize rape victims. quote, it dismisses the real harm of rape culture. protesters held up signs that said things like trigger warning, anti-feminism. they invited students to come to a safeanother building if they felt upset by the lecture. meanwhile, i believe we have tape of an otter creating a safe space. >> that is actually a deleted scene from "the hobbit." >> i haven't seen that. >> well, it is deleted so it doesn't matter. i haven't seen it either. how did feminism go from women are just as strong as men to we need trigger warnings and safe spaces to deal with people we disagree with? >> we are very delicate.
12:11 am
a fun fact, this organization my first job in dc was planning the lectures for that group. i was there for seven years. it has definitely gotten worse. it used to be what they didn't want to do and they would change your room at the last minute. you would have to tell everyone no, go here instead. i was like a pioneer. now it is like they can't even breathe the same air of someone they disagree with. they are definitely not furthering their cause by saying we are too delicate to hear another woman's view. >> totally. joanne and if they thought her speech would be so hurtful all they had to do was not attend right? >> what they are doing is they are silencing a woman. that's absurd. that's not feminism. it is great. at the start of the lecture she says how a majority of people believe in equality among the sexes.
12:12 am
only 18% call themselves feminists. she said the point of her lecture was to hopefully change that idea and change the perception but she asks the question why is that? this is why it is. it is this extremism. it is the extreme action that silences people. it makes the masses go, well i don't want to associate myself with that. i believe in equality but that's not equality. >> tom what if safe spaces makes someone feel unsafe. >> and they do. i think trigger warning may trigger something in people. her lecture was called -- i don't even know. it was something about what's good and what's bad? she wasn't saying i am against feminism and she is not ann coulter. she is not out there to -- obviously anne is out there pushing buttons. christina is a very sober thinking individual. people should follow her. i follow her twitter and she always has a great article. and her book.
12:13 am
i read a great book "the war on boys" and two other books i can't remember right now. she is great and she is obviously an intellectual and she is just the kind of person women should be welcoming to their campus and it is ridiculous. it used to be i am woman hear me roar. roar is triggering to them. >> the thing she did that pissed everyone off was in the book she pointed out the phony super bowl stat about how more women are beat on the super bowl. that angered the feminists. she is one of the few conservative women who says i want to take back the word feminist. a lot of them have given up on it. as far as conservative women, and she does -- doesn't even call herself conservative. >> she has the super bowl thing. she wrote an article completely refuting the pay gap. she is fantastic and there is -- it is amazing there aren't more like her out there. she is a true feminist and a conservative. >> she sounds evil to me.
12:14 am
>> -- before you mock the safe spaces if someone came to a school where you were a student and they did a lecture on why super harry people are inferior wouldn't you feel unsafe? >> i would be too high to notice. >> that is one solution, sir. >> is back here the andy's cat? >> his cat is often mistaken. >> i am more allergic to dan's back. >> meanwhile at university of north carolina students started a hash tag movement not safe unc in response to david horowitz saying certain dwrowps were connected to -- groups were connected to terrorists. is this really about safe spaces? or is it about trying to eliminate the speech they find disagreeable. >> anyone using the hash tag has never been to an unsafe space. it is so ridiculous to say
12:15 am
that being in a speech is an unsafe place. it is all about getting rid of the speech. they don't even want to give a voice to someone they disagree with. obviously you can just not go. but they don't want thib else to go either. >> exactly. joanne one of the unc students said -- he said though he is a supporter of free speech horowitz's speech was unacceptable. he is not a supporter of free speech, right? >> and he is not even in college. the point is to meet people with different backgrounds and ideologies. save your money. save your energy and your money and use it somewhere else. this is pointless. >> dan final word to you. >> i often tweet when i am in a dangerous situation. as does tom. he live tweeted a mugging the other day i think. >> that was just me mugging for the camera. >> okay. i am an idiot and i have nothing of value to say. >> then i will move on. it's a wrap for the rap. an ohio principal has canceled
12:16 am
an event that invited girls to spend a day in a muslim headscarf. the challenge was to celebrate diversity. it didn't go over well. critics say the exercise seemed to promote a single religion and the covering is a form of female oppression. others complained having all girls covered up seemed to be mocking the tradition. now the school is reportedly being criticized for caving into anti-muslim bigotry. stay tuned for the cancellation of the cancellation. lisa, what was the mistake here? planning the event in the first place or can selling it -- cancelling it when people complain sph. >> why does celebration of diversity start with making everybody do something? >> that's true. >> i do think this was optional. i don't think every girl at school had to do it. >> i think the first thing was dress as your -- for -- you know famous muslim woman
12:17 am
leader. >> take your pick. there is a huge lest, isn't there? >> did the apology go far enough or did they go to prison? >> prison. your damned if you do and damned if you don't at these schools. just don't. then there is fewer apologies that way. >> then you would still be damned. >> yeah, but you don't have to say sorry hash tag. >> stay safe. >> are you happy that the school caved to anti-muslim bigotry and canceled the event? >> i can't tell. >> if you are the principal of a school why would you do anything? did they say that will cause protest and that will be in the local news, et cetera? >> they should do things the way they did it when i was in school. we had sheik day and everyone just wore like -- what do you
12:18 am
call those things? we wore sheik hats and walked around schools. a bunch of guys in t-shirts. didn't you do that in high school? >> i don't think it was officially sanctioned. >> we had sheik day. >> sheik chic? wait i spelled it wrong. >> you know how you did them. you would take your t-shirt and put it over your head and then pull the t-shirt over your -- and tie it behind your head and put sunglasses in the slit and walk around. >> was this right after "lawrence of arabia" came out? are you that old? >> in the 80s. we had all of those days and they were semisanctioned by the administration. we had 50s day and we would come in with the greased hair and the girls with the poodle skirts. we had sheik day. >> where did you go to school? >> we had chariot races and wear to -- wear toe goes.
12:19 am
>> did you go to george wallace high school? >> who would lead the wagons? >> it was one person pulling the wagon. >> you went to the greatest school on earth. >> isn't it sexist to just ask the girls to wear them? >> yes. that's why they should have sheik day. >> also joanne i believe it is cultural appropriation. >> for sure. these efforts to show support only magnify your ignorance. the school just seems ignorant. they don't really understand the culture and the whole point. everyone has to dress as a priest to show support for catholicism. it is like they are only learning how people dress. >> it is literally the least you can do. coming up, a college apologizes for a racially insensitive party involving space aliens. you are watching "red eye" on
12:23 am
they mixed tortilla chips and space ships. a college in california apologized serving mexican food at an inter galactic party. it featured space ships and aliens and a buffet. the combination troubled some students. they responded to complaints with a letter stating we would never want to make a connection between the latino heritage or undocumented students and aliens. i am sorry that our college night appeared to do just that. there was a cultural insensitivity and there is a come -- competence training to
12:24 am
show it is cultural inclusive. let's start at the top tom. the school says they didn't mean to make a connection between science fiction and aliens and mexican, but come on. they serve mexican food at an alien party? >> who was the first person to think about it? when they mentioned there was a connection they caved and apologized and said i'm sure there was a connection and we didn't see it at first. this was like last week or a couple weeks ago when it was clorox. they tweeted about bleach. i don't even know what it was. it was something like where is the bleach? bleach means white is better. and clorox is a bleach. this is a company that sells bleach which makes things whiter. they made them apologize saying we are sorry to equate whiteness -- >> we are sorry our product is offensive jie. who is racist for even saying that.
12:25 am
>> the goal is to make things whiter. >> clorox admitted as such when they apologized. >> cultural competence training does sound fun doesn't it? >> isn't it the racists that make the connections first? is anything as simple as just like -- kids like mexican food. let's have mexican food. >> that's what they said. they hadn't served mexican food in a year. >> that's more racist. >> they said let's do mexican food. >> they were avoiding the mexican food. >> dan, i'm sure you are happy the school apologized. >> it was disgusting what they did. i never actually understood food-based racism. food-based insults as an italian-american you spaghetti eating so and so. >> yeah i've eaten spaghetti. it is pretty good. would you like some? >> only italians eat spaghetti. >> i should bring some next time. >> you should. >> is it a sauce or gravy? >> sauce. >> thank god. what should they have
12:26 am
served? >> freeze drive fruits and jerky. isn't that what you would pick up in space. that's astronaut food. >> mexican food is never appropriate at anytime now. i feel like all of the stories we hear is about a taco something like a fundraiser and they are trying to incorporate the food. stay away from -- i mean is anything safe? maybe hot dogs maybe? >> i think that is american exceptionalism. >> that's a trigger food. >> the only great thing about the apology is the school recognizes the fact that there is alien life on other plan nents. we were not sure. now we are sure that if an institute of higher learning is saying that's the case it must be true. >> let's clip joanne saying mexican food is never appropriate and use that. i can move on. it is about time colleges are more sensitive, right? >> i think so.
12:27 am
they should have thought quick and the administration should have said what we meant was that mexican food is so good and universally loved that even if aliens came down from another planet the first thing they would do is get themselves a taco. >> you should work for a college my friend. >> coming up, ben affleck wants to hide the fact his ancestors owned slaves. >> tonight's sponsors hdtv. the only tv endorsed by andy levey. if you are watching a tv it is andy levey's tv.
12:31 am
live from america's news headquarters i'm kelly wright. the captain at the helm of a migrant ship that sank near libya is now behind bars. he and one crew member were taken into custody while on board a rescue boat carrying 27 survivors. an italian prosecutor said the captain is facing several charges including favoring illegal immigration. migrants are trapped on multiple levels when the ship capsized on saturday. as many as 900 people are feared dead. a muslim couple in alabama reports that their 20-year-old daughter has been recruited by islamic state mill lants via the -- militants via the internet. they are intent on traveling to syria to join isis. it comes on the case of the
12:32 am
heels of another case in minnesota where six men are charged with terrorism after attempting the same thing. >> what is remarkable about this case is that nothing stopped these defendants from pursuing their goal. they never stopped plotting another way to get to syria to join isil. >> jurors will begin hearing evidence today in the penalty phase of the boston marathon bomber. the panel has already declared tsarnaev guilty of all 30 charges against him. now they must decide whether to give him life behind bars or the death penalty. president obama will host a white house reception today to thank democrats and republicans who worked on legislation permanently changing how medicare pays doctors. the rose garden gathering will mark an end to payment reductions that left elderly without medical care. the president signed the legislation on friday. and country music star willy nelson has announced plans to roll out his own brand of marijuana.
12:33 am
it will be called willie's reserve and will be grown and sold in colorado and washington state where recreational pot is legal. i'm kelly wright. now back to "red eye." kendal crossed the finish line first at the saint -- st. louis marathon. she had her title taken away when it was found out she cheated. the post dispatch reports she did not register at anytime on the route and a review of last year's photos failed to turn up i'm midges on the course. -- images on the course. she was third in that one. her spot in the boston marathon today was vacated and she was sentenced to life in prison. lisa let's start there. why? why would she do this? first of all even if -- with all of the electronic scoring
12:34 am
mechanisms how could she think she would get away with it? >> i don't understand why you have to involve other people and organizations. on saturday you can get your workout gear on. let everybody else think you were working out. there is no need to get everybody else involved. guys that cheat, you never know know -- they are always going to get caught. why do they -- especially her. they do the checkpoint. >> by the way let me save you trouble. instead of dressing up -- just tweet, just got back from the gym. >> good point. put my hair in a ponytail. >> as we mentioned, at last year's marathon she finished third. and now they -- they just realized this year that she cheated because they looked back. her only mistake this year was finishing first. if she finished second they never would have checked. >> she got greedy. i love that there is -- reading the story they are talking about an investigation to figure this out. if you watch the video she
12:35 am
just kind of like cruises across. the fact that she wasn't like sweating blood and on the verge of dying after running 26 miles probably was a give away that maybe she ran 10 feet. >> and the fact she is not kenyan should have been a dead give away. tom, why do i feel you admire her moxi. >> she thought wait until i become a multimillionaire and have tons of sponsors and then they can find out. i was in the rosy ruiz era. you can't imagine how big this was when rosy ruiz won. this is one of the great things about living in the world today. we can catch her right away. rosy ruiz for a week we were like, rosy ruiz is a you -- is amazing. you open the door and say i think this woman is cheating. it took weeks to find out if she was a cheater. we didn't have this electronic stuff in our hands. rosy riew wreez -- ruiz was
12:36 am
famous. she became all of the thing with the boston accents. they talked about rosy ruiz. anyone who cheated it would be like -- in track you would say rosy ruiz get your foot over the line. keep your eyes on your own test, rosy ruiz. for a decade that's all it was, rosy ruiz. >> nobody will talk about this woman because it was too easy to catch her and the 24-hour news cycle. >> i have already forgotten her name. let's remember rebecca gregory who crossed the finish line today. her leg was blown off in the bombing and she crossed the finish line and it was inspiring. >> we should have done a story about her instead. i hate the media jie. did you have a rosy ruiz day at your school? >> probably. >> we didn't have it but we should have. >> did you show up for eighth period? >> she didn't train hard enough to win the race. she didn't actually run the race, but does that mean she
12:37 am
shouldn't be the winner of the race? >> no. what it is is -- i said it before on this show, but we all have this need to feel significant. for whatever reason she needed this in her life. she needed that confidence boost. misguided actions for sure, but we shouldn't take that away from her. i get nervous that someone will do this and doesn't see any problem with just cheating and coming in first and talking to the press and everything. if we take that away from them what could happen? >> i agree. >> a larger point, the safety of the marathons, if anyone can just run in -- i mean today is an age where we have to be careful about the safety of people doing these things. anyone can jump in there. i get scared. >> she could have had a baseball bat. >> and they all have electronic electronic -- essentially the trackers on
12:38 am
them. you can't cheat. it is dumb to do it. >> she pulled -- they were like where is yo are -- oh it is right here. >> i think she won by mistake. i think she planned on finishing like second or third and figuring then nobody would ever bother to check. i think she miscalculated and ended up winning by mistake. that's my theory. >> that's a good theory. >> it was you wasn't it? ben affleck used to own slaves. that wait. ben affleck's ancestors owned slaves. the "mall rats" actor asked know your roots not to include a shameful story line. pbs said they didn't engage in sensorship, but they rather chose to focus on more interesting and nonslave owning members of the family including an occultest. tom this to me -- affleck is not the bad guy here. he said, hey, i don't want you
12:39 am
guys to mention the slave owner part. they didn't mention it. that makes them the bad guy. the real bad guy to me is sony exec, michael lynn ton. this is what he said when he was e-mailing henry lewis gates. he said, quote, i would take it out if no one knows. if it gets out you are editing the material based on this sensitivity it gets tricky. all things being equal, i would take it out. he missed the whole part about being a good person is doing the right thing when no one is looking. >> i think this is another example of julian assange and his evil wikileaks organization putting americans' lives in danger. >> really? you think ben affleck's rife is in danger now? >> i wouldn't pus it past the world. >> what do you mean by the world? >> is this what wikileaks is doing now? >> they are fighting the good fight. >> i don't blame them. >> all of the information is equal to wikileaks.
12:40 am
that's what wikileaks' problem is. >> i bet it was his agent and not even i'm h. his agent probably said let's keep this quiet. i'm sure ben affleck didn't care. if he thought about it half a second he wouldn't have made a fuss because now it is a story. it is kind of cool that his ancestors owned slaves and his mother marched with the civil rights. that's a good story. >> this is an example of the streisand effect. a celebrity tries to quash a story it ends up with more people knowing about the story. >> do they sing a lot? >> no, this is a known thing. you need to stay in more. as tom was saying how many people would have known about it if it aired on a pbs documentary? seven? >> probably eight. i just think for ben it is a reality show kind of. you can't go on "the bachelor" and say wait i have to date people?
12:41 am
this is the deal. we are going to dig up your past. that's what the show is. i'm sorry to yell so much but i had some mexican food. >> it is an an italian thing. >> isn't an occultist more fascinating than a slave owner. >> no, but people should be demanding repirations. that's why i don't -- i think the story of like how far we have come is more interesting than occultist. >> unless he hasn't come very far. >> will you be boycotting batman versus superman? >> of course. tv is a business and they want to rate. apparently they had two actors whose ancestors were slave owners. they thought it will get boring and really depressing. so let's focus on something else and that's what we should do. >> i like the uccultist part.
12:42 am
that sounds interesting. >> it does. >> when we come back a musical performance from our guest "baby face." first here is a look at what is coming up with kennedy. >> hi. on the next "kennedy, a funny lady you may know, joanne know saw nosuchunsky. she will be on my program on the fox business network.
12:46 am
is chess not for chicks? britain's grand master nigel short says men are hard wired to be better players than women and society should quote gracefully accept it as a fact. in an interview with new in chess magazine, a real magazine, short pointed to the differences saying his wife has more emotional intelligence and happy to ask him to, quote, maneuver the car out of our narrow garage. excuse me, garage. he later responded to critics on twitter saying men and women have different brains. this is is a biological fact. he apologized in an interview with sky news. >> the reason for that skill in chess and i don't -- i never made any attempt to define what those are. those differences exist. the point of my article is we should accept that. >> by apologize i mean didn't apologize.
12:47 am
dan, you said here, here when i was reading this. >> he makes a good -- i didn't understand a word he said but he makes a great point. that magazine is always putting out articles like this. i cancelled my subscription. i am not down with chess. >> it is a magazine you can only read when you are start playing chess. when you are not new you move to oldy chess. >> this is one of those moments when somebody said can you believe what the chess guy said? >> were you offended? >> i used to play in chess tournaments not that long ago. the only time i ever won in my rating group i was wearing a low cut shirt and i played a bunch of 13-year-old boys. i think we all have our different skills and that was a legitimate win. i beat them fair and square.
12:48 am
>> did they put you in with 13-year-old boys -- >> we are at the same rating. >> it is not girls and 13-year-old boys. >> tom, i am hosting tonight. >> i was going to you next and now i am not. joanne, short has lost to some women in his career. is this sour grapes? >> we know amazing grand masters. they have beat him several times i think. at least once each he is very bitter. chess is a better musical than it is a game. you know why i learned chess, the boy i was dating wanted to play chess. >> dl are a lot of connections to the stories. >> tom, isn't what short said common sense? there was nothing to do with being in the kitchen.
12:49 am
so how can women be any good at it? >> i know what you say is in jest, but i disagree with joanne. the sisters are a per exact -- perfect example. he is correct, but his conclusions are wrong. men and women have different brains. their father raised them to think like boys. he has a book called bringing up genius. he rewired his daughter's brains and then they used their female brains which women think differently than men. men think of the whole game and women like 20* -- they come part mental lies better than men. they took the female brain that was the analysis cal brain and they were able to separate them into fields. using the chunk method they were super human chess players and beating the men. so many women are different, but women can overcome those differences. >> sounds like junk science to

12:54 am
