book as a political hit job and it tends to discredit the author. jack nicklaus it is, senior politics editor of the daily breeze, daniel hauser of the weekly standard and author of clinton inc.. jackie, the book is not even out yet. the clinton campaign is dismissing it as the same old attack that the right wing has been making begins the clintons forever. how worried are they? how worried should they be about what it contains? >> they are going to push back very hard on this book just like they did other clinton books before that. it is hard to say how hard this is going to hit some. i have been hearing a lot from the right that there are some damning claims in this book but it remains to be seen how well they are backed up, how good the research is. of the research is good there is not a lot they can do to discredit it frankly. >> you are the author of a

clinton book, the push back you get from the clinton camp when you write a book they don't like. >> they go ahead and call you a liar and don't actually engage in any substantive issue and that is what is happening here. it has happened to me and it is happening to this new author, trying to call him a liar and distract from the substantive issues that the book is reportedly raising which are serious questions of ethical and morals and frankly the way we do business in america. it completely undermines hillary clinton's argument as secretary of state if these allegations are true and it requires serious questioning and distractions are to be expected. hillary clinton's distractions. we should focus on the substance once the book comes out and get to the bottom of it and focus on the fact, not at hominem attacks. >> the quote on monday in new hampshire was we will be

subjected to all kinds of distractions and attacks. there seems to be that attempt to sort of lumped all of this together and fro it away and say it is not an e shoe. does she need to, based on what we're hearing about this book, does she need to have another un kind of news conference and address specifically the charges that it makes? >> i don't think they will leather want to have another conference like the one at the u.n.. that one didn't go so well. it depends on what is in this book but we know there have been some problems and controversy about the donations to the clinton foundation when she was secretary of state. many outlets h reported this. sometimes when there's smoke there's fire and we will just have to see. we will see what the claims are. >> the press secretary for the clinton campaign is out with a list of sort of pushed back for

the campaign saying this is part of the koch brothers attempt to smear hillary clinton and so forth but why not just answer the charges? >> it is obviously lazy and they want to distract. the book is not out yet but they do have copies of it. on the desk of the center for american progress also chairing hillary clinton's campaign, they have gotten a advanced copy of the book somehow, we don't yet know. they probably have the book but they just want to distract. engaging in substantive issues that they did something wrong on is damaging for the man they want to crucify the person who goes after them. >> let's talk politics for just a second. mrs. clinton has to decide how she feels about a free trade agreement. she is walking a fine line on this one. >> she had a couple different views on trade agreements.

about called clinton cash. >> in the meantime, new action in the skies over yemen with fresh reports of a saudi led coalition just launch some new air strikes, the day after declaring an end to its monthlong bombing campaign. all this as the pentagon dispatched the u.s. aircraft carrier to the region and that is where we pick up with jennifer griffin who is live at the pentagon today. >> despite the cease-fire announcement from saudi arabia yesterday halting the operation against iran backed houthi rebels the iranian convoy has not changed course, it continues steaming in the direction of hayden. the uss theodore roosevelt has been shadowing the iranian convoys for the past few days conducting flight operations to keep a visual on the conflict. a spokesman for the u.s. navy at fifth fleet in bahrain tells fox news, quote, we continue to monitor the iranian convoy as

well as other maritime traffic in the region. there were mixed messages yesterday about the purpose of repositioning the roosevelt battle group from conducting air operations against isis in iraq and syria from the northern arabian gulf to the coast of yemen. the pentagon said there were nine vessels in the iranian convoy including cargo ships suspected of carrying rockets as well as two iranian navy frigate serving as escort ships all in violation of u.n. security council resolution 2216 banning the transfer of weapons to the houthi rebels. >> i saw a lot of cable kicker's today, ships going there to intercept iranian ships, that is blatantly untrue. this discreet movement of -- a discreet purpose. >> a pentagon official says there is nothing discreet about moving a 100,000 ton nuclear power aircraft carrier. the model of the roosevelt

information from paris authorities in the past half hour or so. let the terrorist links are stronger than we first believed and more sinister as well. france's interior minister and other authorities are saying 24-year-old french algerian student was nabbed by police sunday morning and might have done himself in. police also responded to that call from him for an ambulance for that gun shot wound and they found in his car and at his home four fully loaded automatic rifles, three bulletproof vests cash, and islamist terror materials related to isis and al qaeda terror groups as well as indications that he planned attacks mainly on that same sunday on at least one, maybe two churches, one in a suburb of paris. most significant, there are indications he was under orders from a group in syria to carry out those attacks. isis has been targeting christians, they have been

telling christians, hitting symbols of christianity in the wake of those charlie hebdo newspaper terror attacks as well as one of kosher supermarket, mosque and synagogue. finally police say this guy was already on their radar. we have heard that before as well, twice in the past two years they were alerted this fellow was making plans to go to syria to fight with terror groups there. police say there wasn't enough information to hold the man they are busy holding a lot of other people in looking at a lot of other people, to thousand french people are believed to have fought or are fighting with terror groups in syria and iraq, tracking down 100 criminal cases. finally, to show how serious this fellow might have been put these are also looking into a strong connection between him and the murder of a young woman, mother of a child in the same french suburb, a paris suburb. more when we get the latest

happening now. rich edson has more from washington d.c.. >> this as the u.s. undergoes changes in how we use power and how utilities provide it. further threatening the reliability of our power infrastructure. the report calls for sizable outlays from the government 10 utility companies costing $2 trillion to upgrade the electricity system. of that $900 billion to improve electricity transition. those figures are just seven years old. the report references them to the electric study, the department of energy details a host of vulnerability to the u.s. power grid, cyberattacks climate change and terrorism. the report says quoting the national research center, quote, the electric power, the delivery system that carries electricity from large central generators to customers could be severely damaged by a small number of well informed attackers. the system is inherently vulnerable because transmission lines may spend hundreds of miles and in many facilities are

as saudi arabia resumed air strikes in yemen less than 24 hours after declaring an end to the campaign against the iranian-backed rebels. joining us retired major general bob skills military analyst, you say this is the first right move, one of the first moves that you can get behind as far as the administration doing this. why do you think this is the way to go? >> is a clear demonstration of power. we have been dancing around the war game for over a year but to spend the carrier battle group, who knows how many subsurface vessels, along with the carrier, along with military support at our base in djibouti, this is a huge demonstration of american military muscle. there is nothing discreet about any of this. is the administration wanted to evacuate civilians they would have sent an amphibious assault ship. if they wanted to ensure freedom of navigation they would have

sent destroyers. you send a carrier into harm's way if you want to make a statement, if you want to send a message to indy iranians but unloading missiles in yemen is a game changer and the administration is not going to let it happen. my concern is what the iranians take the bait? >> i want to use the word discreet, something we saw from the state department. let me play the sound from what the president had to say about what the mission was for our ships in the region. let's listen to the president's interview with chris matthews. >> there is a reason why we keep some of our ships in the persian gulf region and that is to make sure we maintain navigation and what we said to them is if their weapon is delivered to factions within yemen they could threaten navigation. that is a problem. we are not sending them obscure

side? the president is keeping waterways clear. we saw from senior officials, first reports of this, it was about intercepting these iranian vessels but why not either say nothing at all, why say this? >> you maintain navigation rights and you deters pirates for the use of smaller ships, frigates, destroyers and the occasional cruiser, you don't do with the carrier you are entirely right. what the administration needs to do is match the narrative with the action to declare the will to confront the iranians and put vessels in the region that are capable of doing it. there is no even match. the military force is so overwhelming in comparison to the iranians that it is time to face facts. maria: the iranians have nine ships in this convoy, seven cargo ships. we know what a cargo ship looks like, these are big ships and

two navy frigates as well and they are not turning around. despite us moving these warships into the region it hasn't changed the results for the direction of this. >> let's see. it is of to the iranians. here is the game changer. indications hard those cargo ships contain components for surface to air missiles. if the iranians can turn off the saudi arabia campaign the administration has asked them to back off until this is resolved and that is why they stopped their bombing campaign. what we're going to see is a confrontation. will be hard liners force the discharge of these weapons in a confrontation or will they sail past and do the right thing? my sense is this won't come to a confrontation but war is the most difficult thing to anticipate that there is and it could very well happen that we

will have a confrontation between the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and iranian fleet, but we are showing the resolve to confront these guys in the space that we command. maria: are we undercutting the message by what we are saying about it? the wall street journal editorial said what mr. obama risk his nuclear deal over a naval incident all for the sake of standing with the saudis over yemen. the iranians doubt it which is why they are testing the u.s. at see. that brings us to your point about the iranian calculation in this and america as well. what do you think are the chances this does come to some sort of conflict because both sides are not going to back down or do you agree with the wall street journal that this president will not engage the iranians at sea or at land?

>> yes and yes. the iranians are smart enough to know of confrontation is not in their best interests. i think they're going to reconsider before they unload those weapons. at the same time i see no indication this administration is going to take an aggressive stance against the iranians and put the nuclear deal at risk. i think this is going to be a confrontation. there will be some tense moments but the iranians will sail past it. maria: we will see what transpires at sea and what is said today in the press briefing about the goals of our mission. it is great to see you, thanks very much. >> supporters say would promote free trade but propose trade deal is causing a very public showdown among politicians in one party ahead of the 2016 campaign. plus those double decker jumbo jets are falling out of favor with the airlines.

my understanding is they can configure that to carry i don't think they're doing that but no one seems to be buying it. start with you, why not. >> boeing and airbus have outdone themselves. boeing has built a 787. and smarter planes are more fuel efficient and the benefit of that is airlines can operate more specific routes, they could not serve with larger aircraft but much more fuel efficient way to fly passengers. >> fuel efficient sounds like it should mean lower prices. does that mean if they get rid of the jumbo jets are we going to be seeing lower air fares? >> i doubt it. remember over the years the airlines have lost a lot of money. especially the u.s. airlines are coming back into a period of profitability. if they can fly those planes

full and they don't need the jumbo jets they are likely to target those routes where they can charge as much as possible. it is a lost opportunity to make revenue. >> i am sorry, go ahead. >> they are tough fit for the u.s. market. >> one of problems is those jumbo jets not only have double decks but twice as many engines, four engines where the other planes we are talking about only rely on two. we have a shot. we can do a comparison in our studio of the scale model of the 747 against the boeing 777. if our camera man could hand over to the right we see the triple 7 behind it, almost the same size airplane, almost as many seats on board but only has two engines, it is much more

fuel-efficient. >> exactly. smaller planes let airlines start new routes the 787 has allowed japan airlines to start a flight from boston to tokyo nonstop. the other japanese airlines started a flight from san jose to tokyo. these are flights the a 380 could never do and that the end of the day when business travelers value, flights and frequent service rather than one flight a day they would rather have two with three flight today on smaller planes. >> what about the expense? dallas-fort worth spent something like $5 million building a terminals that could accommodate the a 380 boarding ramps on two different levels, the san francisco build a new terminal to accommodate among other things, dates the a 380 the billion dollar terminal. if they quit flying these planes very much doesn't all that money go to waste? >> it does to some degree but

that sort of flying can survive those cities it is why we have not seen the expansion in other cities because those cities revolve around hubs at the u.s. airlines, you can move traffic past that hubbell whether talking about dallas or american airlines where partner carriers can move these folks around. it is not an original departing routes with enough to go to the city but also a reason it won't happen in a lot of other airports. that expense is that big expense, talking about widening runway and tarmac and those expensive will be prohibitive for smaller airports where they can't figure out how to move those around. >> the airbus a 380 they had to enforce those runways a handful of u.s. airports that have them or have the capability to plant them. even if these things aren't ordered, aren't on the order books it doesn't mean they are

going to stop flying. the airlines that have invested in these planes will still be flying these things. they fly with basicall apartments for the superwealthy traveler. >> exactly. the a 380 is the backbone of the fleet, they won't be able to operate in a lot of fleet's without the a 380 and works very well for them and they go ahead to order more of these in addition to the 140 they have already ordered it is an updated version so for some airlines is working well especially for the golf carriers who are very focused on this hub and spoke system where they route everybody through dubai and bring it to a global. >> comes down to money. will this mean more expensive seats or less expensive tickets they're flying smaller planes. >> and the jumbo jets, a drop in

>> storms on the move today in texas along the east coast carrying the potential for nasty conditions later today. mario molina in the fox business weather center with more on this. >> we are looking at the risk of severe weather today and one of those areas is along the east coast including the i-95 corridor. the concern is a cold front moving eastward and we could see showers and storms and some of those could be isolated severe weather but on the back side of this system we have some snow coming down across the great lakes. the great lakes becoming an frozen a you see that moisture, temperatures cold enough for snow across wisconsin and michigan. across the central plains we have more significant risk of severe weather and we have storms across eastern parts of oklahoma and producing some heavy rain gusty winds that later this afternoon into this evening we have a new round of

storms develop across parts of the texas panhandle and northern parts of texas and we are looking at an enhanced risk, this is what the storm prediction center has highlighted across the northern parts of texas, enhanced risk for large wind damage and gusts and tornadoes, thunderstorms developing today. the risk for severe weather will continue over the next several days, thursday, slightly smaller risk but texas, still included southern parts of oklahoma, across areas of louisiana and as we head into friday and wrap up the work week, some energy out of the rockies will enhance the risk for severe storms. you are looking at risk for tornadoes from kansas into portions of oklahoma and texas. that risk relatively widespread especially as we head into friday and the tornado county is below average. typically buys this time of year we should have seen over 300
