killed in drone strikes. drone strike rules are now under review. could this have been avoided though with better intelligence? that's a question some are answer asking. here to react is lt. general michael. thanks for joining us this morning. >> good morning, how are you? >> thank. is an example of lack of human intelligence? >> i believe he it is. in these operations you want to have intelligence from multiple sources. human intelligence, electronic intelligence. sources, physical intelligence you gain from raids, cell phones, maps, computer laptops and i think we've becomome overreliant offer solely reliant on aerial platforms and collecting by electronic eavesdropping from 10,000 feet. the way this should work and the way i seen it work in the past is understand the threat network and identify key individuals who should be targeted because they present an inherent and

immediate risk to u.s. or coalition forces or they are actively involved in attacking these forces and then you build a case for putting them on a target list. this evidence must be collected from multiple sources. human sources on the ground. electronic sources and alsos the physical evidence. and then you look for patterns of life and targetable actionable intelligence from sources. he is moving to this compound and. it's got to be based on multiple sources. >> someone who has commanded troops in the combat zones. for politicians the appeal of electronic intelligence is it's pretty much risk-free. >> antiseptic. complex threat. the networks are complex organisming that require a complex approach. when you limit yourself to one approach, one source, and one response, you're going to limit your results.

and the evidence is pretty clear. i looked at the number of drone strikes since 2004, in yemen, somalia and pack stone. pakistan 415 dresden strikes. yemen 111 drone strikes and somalia 13 drone strikes. can anyone say to me pakistan, yemen or somalia or r. stabilized successes? have the networks there been significantly degraded? so it's a flaw in that we're relying on one source of intelligence and it's a flaw that we are responding with one source. >> we drop more ordnance in vietnam than was used in the entire second world war and we still had to leave. i wonder does anybody in the military does anyone actually commanding troops believe that air power can win a real victory anywhere? >> i don't think so. i mean, we have lived this. we have seen this now for over a decade. and, you know, my experience back in the surge, when we were successful and in

while in police custody. six officers are suspended. no word yet if charges will be filed. peter, over to you. >> thanks, anna. no more chicken at johns hopkins university. the student government association there voting this week against a proposal to potentially bring chick-fil-a to campus because of the owner's support for traditional marriage. they have a resolution saying perspective and current students, staff faculty and other visitors who are members of the lbgt community would be subjected to the microaggression of supporting current or future development plans. this is the latest in the series of tempts by campus officials to silence those are different opinions. andrew guernsey is a junior at jhuu he has defended the vote. he joins us live. so you lost that vote. why? what's going on at johns hopkins university?

>> good morning peter. it's great to be on the show with you. >> happy to have you. >> what's happening on my campus and can i speak as the president of the pro-life club which they even blocked us from having a club on campus. now we are seeing them blocking a chick-fil-a even a hypothetical one on campus. the reason is increasing intolerance towards students who have a religious or socially conservative point of view. >> what did they say about why there couldn't be a chick-fil-a and what did you say in vociferously arguing against that position. >> when i came to hopkins university -- and i'm very blessed to be there -- i thought there would be a free exchange of ideas. what i'm finding is increasing intolerance from my piers and student government in particular has led them to say that they literally feared for their physical safety because students have different opinions on the campus. and the idea that students, like me, who you would agree with dan cathy that marriage is between moms and dads and

hate speech should be banned from campus is incompatible with the the university's position on free speech. >> are you surprised by this at johns hopkins university that there isn't an ability to exercise the kind of discussion and kind of freedom in terms of first amendment opinion that there should be? >> well, george will wrote about this when he wrote about our case. it seems that colleges and universities are seeming to value diversity in everything but thought. this is disturbing trend on college campuses like mine. >> last question, andrew. you mentioned something about a pro-life club that the university didn't want any part of or they gave you a hard time about starting it. >> right. >> quickly, tell us what happened with that. >> well, even just last week they tried to ban a fetal model feetly accurate of little babies. this is a medical school too. johns hopkins is big enough to have people with different points of view on campus. >> points of view are important andrew guernsey.

improve your health. tucker, keep that in mind. >> well, chris christie might be trying to rekindle his presidential hopes brand new fox news poll has the new jersey governor behind all the candidates washington examiner susan cab tree. former communication spokesperson vermont governor howard dean christie welcome to you both. christie start with you. >> sure. >> chris christie, the other christie is at the bottom of the -- four.5% in the average of all the polls over real clear politics, but i mean boy do we have a lock way to go before the nominee is chosen. are these early numbers significant? >> somewhat, yeah. let's get a few caveats out of the way. it's definitely still early. field is still 100% still influx. he has also made some smart moves of late. whatever your politics.

i think the governor's appearance on jimmy fallon was pretty great. it's not a great thing for chris christie to be starting out at the bottom here because the fact is that a lot of people across this country do know him and they have a negative impression of him. so he is starting out as sort of damaged goods even a more positive fitting where he may be unknown but he has potential for a lot of growth. christie has the opposite problems where he is starting out in negative place. >> susan, there are an awful lot of conservatives in the republican primary electorate, chris christie though as remarkably talented as he is may have problems on issues like guns specifically. how familiar time should he be be spending trying to win them back? >> well, i think the presidency as have you eaten over the last three presidents is really a -- personality. christie has this in spades. that's a deficit that hillary clinton is lacking. i really think that chris christie can emerge right now but he has to work twice

as hard as he had in the past. he would have before the bridge gate scandal. i really thought back in 2013 early 2014, he was the only candidate who could beat hillary clinton because he had such a remarkable personality and he was really good on attracting both democrats and republicans. his mother was a democrat. his father was a republican. he comes from a blue state. he crosses the factions. he can attract hispanic voters african-american voters. he has done so in his re-election campaign. women voters. so i think if you look at the last three presidents we have had they were able to do the same thing. and it's really who you want to sit down and have a beer with and i don't think that we have the candidates in the republican field right now that are up to the same par as christie in their personality. >> that's the point, isn't it christie? republicans and democrats who analyze the race are forever saying the republican party needs to expand its appeal here.

a guy who won an awful lot of democrats to his side election of governor. >> that's why he was such a formidable candidate as late as 2012. all of that changed after bridge gate. predominant image is the one loud mouth possibly corrupt governor from new jersey. and it's the corrupt thing that's knew. >> republicans new jersey thing that's mort of the problem. but, yes i would say to the extent that he was able to win over democrats and hispanics and women and, you know, all sorts of that durablely democratic constituency groups in the past i'm less sure that he is going to be able to do that in the future simply because of bridge gate so partisan and so corrupt. >> christie makes the point susan that governor christie is a loud mouth. i mean, there is really no getting around the fact he is a guy emotionally kind of just out there. what you see is what you get. is there a case though that maybe that's what america wants someone that direct?

>> i think if you look at the candidates in the republican field right now they are only appealing to certain factions of the republican party. the jeb bush factor, he appeals to a broader swath. people are complaining he is a lot like mitt romney. elitist status he comes from bush dynasty. chris christie pulled himself up from boot straps. not part of a political dynasty. he is he someone who after public corruption, and new jersey is a very tough state, you know, politically, just like chipping is. and he really went after 130 public officials in that state. so there is a lot of vendettas against him. and i think that he can overcome this bridge gate, but he has to work very hard to do it. he has to really start talking about policy and get away from the epics. you know hillary clinton -- the benefit that he has is hillary clinton is tarred by

it may be difficult to find some of these facts based on the fact the secretary of state's emails have mostly been destroyed. ten its of millions of dollars personally. clinton family bill and hillary clinton took tens of millions of dollars from foreign countries. a lot of them dictatorships that hate america. why would they do that? >> was the white house aware of it? were they aware of any ethical breaches. we see now there have been refuse for rations and changes in the tax returns that the foundation has posted. with regard to the millions of dollars. >> there were errors were, they intentional or mistaken. >> next time you file a false tax return it was error not false. >> what are democrats thinking right now she has been able to clear the field. yes she has campaign money coming in. yes, she has the clinton name recognition behind her. she is half of that political machine that is the clintons but long term, i mean what are democrats

risen quite quickly an hour ago was 70. and now it's topped 600 maybe 700. we will see that continue to rise. most of these figures is coming from the city. the city is very densely populated. a lot of it is poorly constructed. very well known it's vulnerable to earthquakes. not a surprise people should be killed here. >> we we are having a tough time with your signal. we will check back in with you if we can make our connection a bit better. a 7.8 magnitude quake has hit nepal killing nearly 700. our rick reichmuth has been falling the story overnight and into the morning. rick that number is expected to rise. >> yeah, in fact, they are able too do estimates based off of the population in the area. the intensity of the earthquake. and at this point it looks like there is a 17% chance is what they are giving it of over 100,000 fatalities. there is 49% chance of over 10,000 fatalities. at least.

>> so you are saying there is precedent for this. this is the strongest earthquake that has been in that area in over 80 years. they have had large earthquakes in this area. it's a very populated area. the kathmadu valley has 1,500,000 people right in that area experiencing the strongest part of this quake. and most people living in buildings that are not wilt to the same kind of standards as we deal with here. so those structures are much weaker potentially cause loss of life that tower was built in the 1800s. i don't know if we have a before picture of that tower. hard to make out what that was. when we get you a before picture of it you will get a good sense of that they have got about an hour left of daylight here as where in the beginning stages as they are in the beginning stages of search and rescue about an hour left of daylight. and so it's going to be a really rough and scary night for them. and they are dealing with constant after shocks. there have been 15 after

shocks of at least 4.5. you are dealing with that. all of the rubble has already fallen. now things hanging in precarious positions. you have after shocks happening after it. makes it a dangerous time even as they are continuing the search and rescue. >> what would technology be like there as far as communication goes? i mean, you imagine that a lot of that would have been knocked out which would hamper rescue efforts. >> hard to imagine that there is much left in the way of telecommunications in that area. i don't know exactly what it would be but it would be hard to imagine that there is good communications going on. >> we had trouble just even talking to our reporter on the ground there. >> thanks for yours expertise on this. appreciate it. >> could criminal charges be looming for the clintons following this story now some veteran lawyers say the clinton foundation's questionable handling of donations could lead to big legal issues. >> this story is big and getting bigger. we turn now to leland vittert. is he live in washington with the latest. god morning leland. >> good morning tucker and everyone. still very speculative in terms of if there could be a criminal investigation.

>> rose, so happy to hear that you're doing well. i understand you were diagnosed in 2012 with this cancer of the blood cells and that you began recovering in 2014. what was life like for you when you were trying to go to school and study while also dealing with your treatment? >> it was really hard because you're kind of like in two different worlds. you have to -- you are stick all the time but then you are trying to live a normal life and go to school so it's kind of hard. >> what was it like for you to watch your daughter throw through all of this and suffer the backlash from the school saying you need to be in class. >> it's very hard for any parent, of course, to watch their child suffer with cancer or any chronic illness. we did our best to help her through it the best we could from the health standpoint and also academics as well. >> rose, what was it like for you with treatment?

i mean, were you feeling nauseous? saw the video there your hair was falling out. what was that like for you? >> it's hard. i get a lot of nausea which happens in the mornings, so i'm not able to go the school all the time. >> and the trouble really started though you say when you wanted to join the basketball team and they said look, if you want to play in the afternoons, you have to come to class in the morning and where did the trouble begin for that? they said if i wanted to play basketball i have to come the school the entire day. not the same. because the nash shah really makes me not feel well. i don't always feel good in the morning but in the afternoon i do. >> the thing to keep in mind is we have had medical documentation this whole time even saying that recovery can take several months after treatment has

finished. and we have had issues starting there but continuing ever since the dismissal was just the final thing. but we ask that they follow the rules and rose will follow the rules too. if thee choose to make the occasional exception for her in a positive light then that would be fine. our problem has been that they haven't followed their basic rules that are listed in the handbook in a negative way toward rose. rose would go to the doctor and bring in a medical excuse note. that's in the handbook. they would let other students with my grains and migraines. >> that seems to be the problem, there was not an equal paying field for other students. certainly accommodation met for someone going through cancer poor little girl when they're making exceptions for headaches. i want to read a statement from the school now. they say after much consideration. after the story has made national news we have decided to invite seventh

grader rose mcgraph to return to our school as soon as possible. so will rose, will you be returning? >> i don't know yet. i want to think about it because a lot of the things i don't really think i was being treated fairly there. >> we filed a couple months ago before this dismissal. the complaint office of civil rights based on what we felt was discrimination and also retaliation since i started advocating for rose. there has been numerous instances, over 20 that are listed in the complaint of this discrimination and retaliation. >> and i actually talked to father on the phone yesterday he called us right before he released that press release and he said they need a cooling off period and they would like to meet with us and, you know mid next week. meanwhile she is missing more school are you going to do 504 accommodation and other things for her and he wouldn't comment. had no idea. >> exactly. >> i would say if they are

his sur name appeal to hispanic voters. >> he is one of the answers. governor jeb bush is also one of these candidates who can win the hispanic vote. specifically on rubio is the fact that he has a very compelling immigrant story. he knows how to communicate it effectively. with that being said, when you look at the latino voters, they are generally more socially conservative. there are individuals that are religious and actually the electorate there is also quite young. so the median age is about 27. so here you have a candidate who is incredibly charismatic who can talk the initials a way where he can help connect with the hispanic community on achieving the american dream. the big thing for latino families. as swell young. so at this point i think that he really can get to that number which that number is, tucker, 40%. the g.o.p. needs to get 30% of the hispanic vote. >> so jennice the hispanic term is a term we throw around. i'm not sure what it means. some different groups for so

many different places and languages. >> exactly. >> what are so-called hispanic voters looking for other than immigration? that can't be the only issue that they voted on. >> of course we are concerned about all the social issues that mercy just referred to. she also referred to senator rubio speaks to the immigration story and the immigrant story. and i have to suggest that he really doesn't because we must differentiate the difference -- i'm sorry to repeat that but the difference between the cuban immigration story and mexican american immigration story. it's a very different story. i think we all know cubans come here for the political refugees and mexican americans, which are the bulk of the numbers of immigrants we have here are more for economic reasons and have a really hard time adjusting. if you look at the numbers i mean, it is -- yes, is he supported by the cuban american community and about 46% of them live in one county florida's miami-dade. >> right. >> so if you look at the numbers, there is 1/3 of

people are trying to search through the rubble. you have a general getting up in the normal setting. now it's collapsed but you have the after shocks continuing to move the rubble around. now it makes it very very dangerous. and now it's going to be dark and they have to go through the nighttime hours. so it's a very scary time. that what you're looking at is the tower. we have a picture that we can show you of this tower beforehand. to give you a sense soft what that is. that's what the tower looked like before. now you can see what it looks like after that. that came down. that's just one of the images there. think of all the buildings in the area. not built up to the same codes that we have here in our country. so much of it with maybe not as good of construction. had earthquakes in the area. very prone to earthquakes. but large ones like this are not that common. they've had a couple until the past hundred years. this is the strongest in 81

years now. and we're probably looking at many mayfatalities. you can take the scientists in the area the population in the area compare it to the strength of this earthquake. we have one graphic that gives you an estimate of what they put out. you see all the numbers in the red. the the red is the percentage chance over a thousand fatalities. the highest number there, you see 17%. 17% chance there's over 100,000 fatalities from this. and 49% chance we're dealing with over 10,000 fatalities in this. so that's very rough developing news. >> that's grim news. and the loss of economic revenue in the future. tourism is one of the biggest industries there. and imagine what what they're going to be left with. >> tourism in nepal and all the people that climb mt. everest. this is beginning to be the active season to climb mt.

everest. everybody knows about the base camp at mt. everest that people climb to before they climb toe the finals a assent. >> yeah that was 100 miles away about. on other stories making headlines on this saturday morning. a brand new arrest connected to the case of six minnesota men accused of planning to join isis. a 19-year-old threatening to kill people connect odd the case. that includes the u.s. attorney general. the fbi saying he tweeted out threats like this. the feds are getting two choices. either they're going to free my brothers or they are going to have a massacre happen. said is also accused of posting a photograph of the fed's confidential informant. calling him a snitch. also new overnight, another scare in the air. a southwest airlines flight diverted to denver as it made its way from las vegas to milwaukee. 175 passengers and six crew members were safely taken off

the plane after it encountered a pressurization issue. one person had to be taken to the hospital after a fall. everyone else is expected to be okay. and heart stopping surveillance video showing the terrifying moment a train plants right into a car in seattle. you can see the white car turn left directly in front of the train. seconds later, they collide. the impact, sending the car several feet down the tracks before it finally comes to a stop. miraculously the 50-year-old driver just suffered minor injuries. and no one on the train was hurt. and a major announcement from former olympian bruce jenner as he candidly speaks with abc's diane sawyer. >> are you a woman? >> um yes, and for all intents and purposes i am a woman. my whole life has prepared me for this moment so i want to take advantage of it and i want to do the right thing and be true to myself. >> jenner has undergone several

thank you for joining us this morning. >> great to be with you this morning. so we just saw the governor of virginia and his wife go to prison for influence peddling and taking a rolex watch and small potatoes amount of money. here you have the clintons who personally received 10s of millions of dollars from foreign government hoping to influence american policy. should there will be a criminal investigation into the the allegations? >> well i think it's part of a pattern we've seen. there's a different set of rules for the clintons than the rest of americans. americans need to look at this closely and say is this we want? in this case a whole different set of standards. america wants people to live by the laws the same set all of us have to live by. >> i guess the question being asked, governor is should there be a criminal investigation

based on the allegations that have been made in this book. does this rise to the level of a grand jury asking more questions about the connection between contributions, payments to former president clinton, and state department policy changes. >> well i've seen the top line reports of this? if it goes where it appears to be headed that would be warranted. it's a legitimate concern to see what was the influence there and whether or not as many of us raised concerns about the e-mails, it was real questions about sensitive information conveyed about state department issues and national security issues. at least they were certainly sensitive. we saw a different set of rules with the the e-mails and how the clintons responded to that. and i think it's legitimate to have investigations. >> before we continue on with a

different topic, just quickly. as you look down the track, how much of an impact is this going to have on hillary clinton as the evidence mounts up? it's not just right wing media covering it, "the new york times" the covering it. but it's a complicated story. and how much does this matter to the average viewer? are they starting to glaze over? >> well two parts, yeah. she certainly can't convey the phrase she used that it's a vast right win conspiracy when plenty of publications are raising brood concerns about this. i think it's part of a pattern. people like at what hillary clinton represents. he's not just a third term barack obama. she's going to portray a bill clinton. it's note that at all. it's a third term of barack obama's policies. most of us look at the difference and see hillary clinton represents top-down government knows best. washington will tell you what to do when to do it how to do it.

that's not what americans want now. >> so governor walker you made a clear point, when you said it the other day, low income americans. you were pounced on by ted cruz a senator from texas. he said this to the washington examiner. i think it's a mistake for any politician to embrace amnesty and for those here and seek to restrict or punish legal immigrants. the right approach is to secure the border follow the rule of law and embrace or improve legal immigration. how do you respond to that? >> a lot of what we hear out of washington are people that misinterpret it tell you what's not accurate. i believe in someone that has become a citizen. they need to go back to the country origin and get in line like anybody else. we have to secure the border. uphold the law in the country. whether it's a small business,

big business farmer rancher, anyone else. as we go forward, as we look at legal immigration. under this president today we already have limitations. we're not talking about putting restrictions on. we have them today with barack obama. when i talk about what should be the policy on legal immigration that should be driven by the economic impact, and number one of on the list of priorities if unemployment is high and labor participation is low, why open the door and flood the market with own workers at a time when our own people are looking for work. of course we can look at ways to open the door for immigration. we're a country of immigrants but also a country of laws. we should be looking out for the american worker in everything we do. >> amen. >> you kicked off a tour in iowa. you're at the face and freedom summit.

your fourth trip this year. they have the first nominating contest in the the 2016 presidential campaign. you're saying that you're waiting until june to declare because you want to make sure the wisconsin budget is finalized. . what is that going to look like? is when you decide to throw your hat in the ring. it's the hallmark of each of the campaigns i run for governor in a state that favors iowa. a state that hadn't gone republican for president since 1984. if we chose to get in we would be talking about the things i'm talking about today, not through more government but by getting government out of the way. talking about how to reform government. by taking the power out of washington and putting it in the hands of taxpayers and talking about how to provide safety for the children and grsh by securing not just the mortgage.
