fox news alert. new details about the u.s. army raid that killed a top isis commander in syria. >> the army's delta force took out abu sayyaf. >> we're joined live with the very latest on this raid. >> we did learn these new details last night. a defense official confirms to fox news that some of the fighting that took place in syria was hand to hand. and women and children were being used as human shields. 12 members of isis including abu sayyaf was killed. fighting was intense. ancient artifacts were recovered, along with cell phones computers, and documents. we heard from the general

earlier in the day. >> think of him as the oil minister and finance minister combined. 0 so anybody like that as part of the top leadership in isis this will be a set back for isis. it won't stop their military operations per se. the mission was largely what we refer to as a capture-kill mission. the purpose is intelligence. >> the white house also speaking out after the raid saying that president obama did approve the operation after his intelligence officials deemed it it could be carried out successfully. like i said artifacts recovered, but also that intelligence material we also know that no u.s. forces were injured or kill during this raid. back to you guys. thank you. fascinating details about this raid and as "the new york times" reporting this morning, he was a mid level guy and probably easily replaceable. they are comparing him to al capone's accountant. he was the finance guy. the emir of oil and gas.

we've taken out both a profit center of isis this guy was making money for them keeping them going, also an operations center, where these guys can no long are believe that syria is going to be a safe haven for them. this is a two-fer for us. to defeat isis we must defeat the network. first, we must understand it. we have to get in there, use human intelligence use belly button to belly button. >> perhaps having that intelligence on the ground instead of drone strikes is more effective. >> this is impressive. i'm confused as to the bigger picture. what is the point? do we want the government of syria to remain in control? do we want the shiites to keep control of iraq? what is our plan long term? you can defeat isis i guess, but then what next? it would be nice if the

death just one day before he was set to graduate. police say he climbed on to the roof of the sports arena. he lost his footing and plunged to the ground. the 21-year-old colorado native was an engineering major and a member of the fencing team. brand-new information regarding the amtrak crash. the feds ordering amtrak to take steps to install automatic safety. the rail hopes to resume full service between philadelphia and new york by tuesday. and american pharaoh reigns in the rain in preakness.

that brought all the severe weather yesterday. it's consolidated into a solid line of storms and that's brought some really significant flooding swl the severe weather and we're still watching that severe weather including to the north of new orleans where we had a tornado warning this morning. out across the west clearing up just a little bit but this energy continues to pull into the northern plains and today that severe weather is right across thele mississippi valley. we're not out of the waters yet on this one. one more day. one more day. speaking of iowa yesterday 1,300 republican supporters candidates there were a lot of candidates that showed up here at the lincoln day dinner last night. they had ten minutes to speak.

here is a look at some of the candidates you are seeing some video of the folks that showed up. jeb bush disappointed some people there when he said he was not going to take place in that straw poll over iowa in the summer. he said i don't want to come in fourth place, do you? s. >> it's the ames straw poll. he's been getting hit on the question of the iraq war. 2003 would you have authorized it would you have done what your brother did? he's been asked that question several different ways and he's given different answers. he addressed it directly in iowa. here's part of what he said? >> i don't think so. i was asked a question. i answered the question wrong. i answered a different question and, look we're all going to make mistakes. if you are looking for a perfect

let's ask jim hanson who served with the army special forces. does this mean we need boots on the ground to be more effective against isis? >> it means that having boots on the ground means we have a chance to do something more than make the rubble bounce. it was a tremendous rage. this is a huge success. it's the second time we've actually conducted a raid into syria. the first time was the unsuccessful raid to attempt to rescue hostages. this time we returned a bunch of terrorists to room temperature. i don't think he's quite up the food chain as he was being portrayed portrayed. all in all, a very successful and a good start. >> so impressive. are you satisfied? do you understand what the strategy is? do you understand who we want to run iraq and syria in the end?

>> i don't think anyone understands the strategy. i don't think the president has put one forth. i think that would be a great start for the president to actually tell us what are we trying to do? if we're trying to take out isis who is going to run things in iraq who is going to run things in syria? are we trying to topple assad? none of that has been arctic cue latd. right now, we're basically serving as the iranian air force and commandos while they are the runs who are the allies the iraqi government. >> you don't think this target may have been the intended target and he wasn't necessarily a household name abu sayyaf. we haven't heard a lot about him. others have said this is not a good thing, not to put his name out there, not watching his back too much. we shouldn't be telegraphing our plans too much any way.

hope. a bill takes aim at online ammunition sales. the bill would only permit face-to-face purchases of ammo and would require dealers to report purchases of more than 1,000 rounds. the number of americans on food stamps has exploded from 17 million in 2000 to 47 million last year and, soon there may be even more because people may be able to sign up for the benefits simply by asking over the phone. is this making it easier for people to live off the government? will it encourage fraud? here to debate. it's great to see you both. >> good morning. >> this is going to increase fraud. how could it not? but it also will increase profits for the companies providing the food. >> so actually they have done a study and it actually reduces fraud.

the over the past 20 years, since we've been doing these studies, fraud has gone down to last 1%. this is a mass conspiracy out there that people are falsely signing up for food stamps. >> college students are signing up for food stamps. >> i don't know if that's necessarily true if college students are rich kids and they have access to the food stamps that they can sign up for. it still costs money, regardless. you have to qualify for it. these aren't just like anybody going in there and signing up. you have to prove how much you are making where you are coming from you have to have your social security number ready, the over the phone process eliminates government waste, it cuts costs. >> look the government wants more power. this gives them more power. >> listen i see this as a vote-buying scheme.

we have no idea who is going to be on the other end of that phone. are remember the obama phone woman, a phone, a vote. the state of california has 38 million -- it's a population of 38 million. over 45 million people are on food stamps at a cost of $70 billion. in 2000 there were 17 million. the regulations have been relaxed. it has exploded especially under president obama's watch. >> what are the effects of it? i notice the left is never eager to look deeply at the effects of the programs it espouses. why are food stamp recipients more likely to be obese? >> the reality is that people accepting the subsidies on behalf of the wheat industry the soy industry the industry that are perpetuating these problems. they are corporations. if you want to talk about subsidy subsidies. >> you are for the program, you have to expand it, people on the

program are more likely to expand -- to be -- >> we want people to be deployed not dependent on the government. this is what we're witnessing more government dependency and it's breaking the bank. what is our debt? we can't afford this. >> let's talk about the $1 trillion that we've given to corporations. corporations are putting money overseas right now. >> by the way they are the ones putting -- pushing this expansion. next on the rundown, she's on the fib's most -- fbi's most wanted terrorist list. one university just honored her with a mural. a hacker says he took control of a airplane and flew it sideways.

they are atheist. three percent of americans say i don't believe in god. 4% say they are agnostics. 93% are willing to say i believe in god. because it's more prevalent to talk about it because of the internet because there are more atheist activist groups many more people willing to say i don't believe in god or i don't know i find it amazing in 2015 so many people do believe. >> you are a glass half full kind of guy. >> it's not even half full. it's 93%. >> it's like those billboards that say jesus isn't real. >> i find it absolutely acceptable to be i'm not sure i believe in god. it's a normal thing to have doubt. to have doubt is something that unites all of human beings at

different times of our lives. how does god allow that to happen? 93% saying to a pollster i believe in god, trying to get 93% of americans to believe in anything 93%. >> here's a change in the u.s. landscape right now. tell us your thoughts. unaffiliated back in 2007 16%, catholic about 23%. now, 2014 22% unaffiliated with any religious organization or church and catholics -- dropped by 3%. what do you think about that? >> i would say lack of leadership i would say, not only in the catholic church but in other traditional mainline protestant churches. in terms of leadership.

what i wrote about and for my parish bulletin when i wrote this weekend, get out in the streets. if there are 93% believe in god and 16 20% completely unaffiliated with any church what they need is somebody to reach out. i think that is what people are looking for, unaffiliated, and still have a deep belief in god. >> one thing we talk about on fox news channel is the did he go gra dags of the family. which one comes first. the is it because of the degradation of the family? >> many of them this summer have no summer plans, but they have

how do you keep your info safe? >> a tech wreck happening for starbucks this morning. >> this is the app from starbucks and starbucks is quick to say not our fault over this. hackers are getting user names and passwords and going into people's apps trying them one after another, guessing passwords and going in and buying themselves some gift cards with your app. so if you like me have the reload feature on it, big trouble. because right now, i just added $25. all it takes to add another $25, $50, or $100 my credit card is already in there. you hit reload or worse you have the auto reload already turned on so they buy themselves another gift card. >> this is a brute force style

hacks. how are they getting them in the first place? >> they have been on the under ground network for ages. the older ones. the ones we use very commonly to log on to our email, those often get out and they get loose from us at some point simply by hacking, and what happens is those are sold bought and sold on line in bulk so hackers go and buy these and they try them. >> and very often these sort of -- the side -- side accounts that we use, like a starbuck or like a jc. peney county. you say you got to change your user names and passwords. >> i realized i have the weakest passwords managing my starbucks app which is exactly what starbucks is saying. it's my problem. but starbucks, for the people who have lost in some cases,

hundreds of dollars, they have been pretty quick to say hey we'll reimburse you and make good on it. >> we mentioned the change the name of passwords. >> one might be to put the word coffee or starbucks into your user name and password it makes it one more step more difficult. >> the auto reload -- >> convenience versus security. >> you are doing the jog ing in the morning, you say turn it off there. >> it's one step easier when you leave it on for someone to steal your junk. >> you say always dispute missing funds with the retailers. >> in this particular case with starbucks, any app that allows you to pay through their app, they don't have to make good on that. that's just starbucks' good

killed during the raid. anna tucker clayton, back to you guys. live from washington. so the raid in syria comes at a pivotal moment for isis which is gaining ground in ramadi. it's a very important country in iraq. much of which is now controlled by isis so the question is what's america's next step? last night's raid was successful spectacularly so but is it evidence of a larger strategy? >> do we have to have more boots on the ground to lead an effective repellent to isis. jim hanson was on the show earlier this morning and he's for the center for security policy. he also served in the u.s. army special forces because it was a spectacular raid. he's not sure that we have any kind of a strategy. listen. >> i don't think anyone understands the strategy. i don't think the president has put one forth. i think that would be a great start for the president to actually tell us what are we trying to do. if we're trying to take out

isis who is going to run things in iraq who is going to run things in syria? are we trying to topple assad? none of that has been articulated and it's a gaping hole in having a strategy and right now we're serving as the iranian air force and commandos while they are the allies of the iraqi government. >> how much should we be telegraphing our strategy? you know the delta force has been praised yesterday and today for not necessarily putting his name out there, so he's not looking over his shoulder all the time and then pouncing in an unsuspecting fashion because he was not a household name and the media wasn't talking about him so much. >> he wasn't one of the top, top guys. he was a mid-level guy. he was his financier, he was the guy in charge of funneling the money but as others have reported he's going to be quickly replaced.

joins us now with their top confessions. nice to have you on the show. welcome. why did you decide to write this book? >> nurses actually asked me to write it. they wanted their views and their secrets represented in a book that's sort of fun to read to curl up in and get lost in. i followed four fascinating nurses for a year interviewed hundreds of others across the country and i included some under cover reporting to find out what's really going on in hospitals that the public should be aware of. >> when we watch that grey's anatomy clip there, does television get it right when it comes to the operating room? >> no television about gets the picture completely wrong. the nurses i followed ripped aside the curtain for me. they see patients for maybe a few minutes at a time. it's really the nurses who coordinate patient care administer medications, and know every detail about patients' at

all times. nurses are truly the unsung heroes of the hospital and it's time we treat them right. >> we were talking about this early in the show there is a particular month of the year you don't want to get sick and go to the hospital. what's the worst month of the year to go to the hospital and why? >> it's july. don't get sick in july. the reason is because death rates spike at teaching hospitals in july between 8 and 34%. this is because that's when medical students graduate and become interns or first year residents, first years become second years and so forth. new doctors make mistakes. >> if you are going to have a stroke save it for august. >> or go to a nonteaching hospital. >> there are hospital vip sections? >> nurses say they want to treat every patient equally, but some hospitals force them to cater to

vips. they have different furniture, menus. politicians don't necessarily experience it like the rest of us do. >> some people bully people into forcing them into surgeries that they might not need. >> some hospitals and doctors have incentive to push procedures on patients that they don't need. nurses told me about several instances in which they would have advised patients not to get the procedure done if only they had asked the nurse. >> there's also another fascinating revelation in the book say you may be speaking to a nurse impersonator not a nurse. what's that all about? >> nurses are skilled, educated trained professionals. not just anyone can be a nurse. >> it's like paralegals they are doing all the work in the hospitals. thank so much.

joining them now is their father. >> good morning. it's an amazing thing that you did and a lesson that a lot of parents can learn from. tell us your story about your two children who were on the school bus getting harassed by this bully. what was the bully doing to them? >> the bully was taunting them and calling them names and picking on them. my kids are pretty mild mannered. as they came home for any parent no juan likes to get their kids picked on. i let my wife go to the school first and speak to them and the school did an awesome job. they sat down with the kid and told him he needed to stop what he was doing. it did pause for a while but a few weeks later it picked back up. i've been a pastor now.

my first option of any the bible, you know. i kind of cut a few jokes, crack him in the nose but after praying and laying down just really seeking god, i fell the spirit told me no get this kid a bible, let him know that jesus loves him and invite him to church and the love of christ would be a great idea. >> what do you think your kids learned from this? not just turn the other cheek. hand out a bible. kill them with kindness and faith. >> the bible teaches us to love our enemies and we definitely try to live a christ-like lifestyle lifestyle. i'm thankful they were able to see in action. not only did they do it but they got to see great results from it. i believe, every man has a measure of faith and that i believe that extended their faith to believe in god. hoel when they get older they would look to the about bible to look for a solution. >> yeah. to end the humiliation and to

end all of the tormenting and to really teach this child. you know it's hurting people who often hurt people. maybe this will turn this child's heart around. some parents would say i would rather them just turn the other cheek and say something nice but a bible, your fact has no place in a school environment but what can all parents learn from this? something i learned in church was if somebody is picking on you, you say i'm sorry you are having a bad day. i hope it gets better. what else could parents tell kids to do? >> thinking outside the box and looking for different means, but i think it's the love of christ. whether it's a gave a bible or something else just the act of love in the midst being reciprocated by him abusing or bullying them. i think he had an awareness of christianity and what the bible went and i think when he saw it

artifacts recovered during this raid but a trove of intel materials. some of the fighting which took place in eastern syria during the delta force raid for abu sayyaf was at times hand-to-hand combat. isis was grabbing people using them as human shields, that includes women and children. his wife was captured. she's being held for questioning. she's known to be a member of isis even believed to participate in terror activities. fight th at times did become intense. helicopters were damaged. experts say they are pleased to see the raid. it interrupts the internal leadership structure of isis. we talked to general jack keen just yesterday and here's what he said yesterday about the raid. >> he's one of the top leaders because he's thinking as the oil minister and the finance minister combined.

anybody like that is part of the top leadership in isis. this will be a set back for isis. it won't stop their military operations per se. but the mission was largely what we refer to as a capture-kill mission. the purpose is intelligence. >> u.s. defense attorney ash carter directed the raid after the white house approved. the president deemed it could be carried out successfully albeit risky. no u.s. troops were injured or kill during the raid. and a broader analysis now of the strategy against isis. this seems to be a change obviously in the plan which was to use drone strikes, pin pointed drone strike. >> air power. >> air power only and only boots on the ground as this show of broader shift. we had what this does it is two fold really. it shows isis can't hide.

they have to be looking over their shoulder. they never know where they are they have a secure rear area. stop and think about it. they are pushing forward in ramadi but all of a sudden they have got people attacking their senior leaders in their rear area. they have to think about what they are doing in ramadi and the rest of iraq there. i think this is significant in terms of changing their thinking and whole strategy. >> syria is their number one domain and now they are going to be looking over their shoulder a little bit more and even for their leaders who are not household names and aren't making headlines in the media, you know names that we're talking about on this channel and other networks that possibly that is the strategy you know and then they pounce when they least expect it. >> it's remarkable projection of u.s. power. it's wrong, though and reckless for the policy makers of the u.s. government to use the u.s.

military unless it's in the service of a strategy that helps the united states. so somebody at some point needs to figure out what's the biggest threat isis or iran? they are basically fighting each other. which do we think is the bigger threat to us? i don't see anyone at the white house publicly articulating that. they don't seem to have any idea what the end game is i think it's wrong to use the military unless it's in service of some broader goal. >> we need to worry about all the lone wolf style attacks happening here at home as well. we're crossing our fingers that intelligence officials will be able to gather info from the cell phones and computers and documents and the wife of abu sayyaf to get information. some of this game up last night at the 2015 dinner for the lincoln day dinner out in iowa.

that state. jeb bush getting a lot of scrutiny over his relatives. he's been hounded all week by reporters asking him about the 2003 invasion of iraq that his brother, of course was in charge of. would you support that has been the question and he's given slightly different answers each time and he was kind of forced to come out and defend his family last night. >> yes. he came out and qended his family and said he had answered the question incorrectly and look if you are looking for a perfect candidate, you are not going to find one. maybe one existed 2000 years ago, referring to jesus but you are not going to find one in this field of candidates now. he is going to campaign in iowa he says but he's not going to take place in the ames straw poll this summer. would you want to come in fourth sifthth or sixth place. >> the question is not whatabout your relatives.

on to the fox news alert. top isis commander abu sayyaf killed in an army raid in syria. >> does this proof we need boots on the ground to defeat the terror network? we ask the host of "fox news sunday" chris wallace. what does this suggest our strategy is? who does the administration want to run iraq and syria at the end of all this? >> well, we would like a unified government in iraq certainly, that includes all of the

factions sunny as well as shia. if you are asking what our wish list is with iran not turning iraq into a client state, it's more complicated in syria. i think ideally we would like to see free saryn -- syrian secular moderates running the country, that's not likely to happen any time soon. a couple of points to make about the raid. one, what an amazing operation, and it does indicate that our intelligence is better the fact that we knew this guy was in this place at this time. also the extraordinary bravery of two dozen delta force commandos to take off in northern iraq to go there under cover of darkness to take on -- they didn't know exactly what they were going to be taking on obviously if anybody had been taken hostage, we've seen what they did with that you don't rememberian dan -- jordanian pilot whom they burned alive. it's a big difference.

i don't think that the american people and certainly the american congress would stand for an invasion of syria. we do have to get boots on the ground. why isn't the u.s. doing more for instance to arm the kurdish peshmerga, or the iraqi army over the course of the last years of the civil war? i don't think we want to put 10,000 u.s. troops on the ground in syria. some of the biggest questions you'll be asking senator marco rubio on show. what else are you going to talk about him? >> i think he's in the top tier of candidates. we sat with him yesterday, talked with him about half an hour in depth. he says he's the candidate of generational change. we'll talk to him about his new ideas, foreign policy, his

you? >> no because you are white. >> some of them did have merit. what were some of those? >> there was an asian student come up to go back to your laundromat. maybe address the actual problems rather than say everything is a problem. >> at u.c. berkeley the jewel of the california university system public health is actually related to microaggression. how is that? >> they had a little forum saying that it's a public health issue, you know like diabetes or cancer. this isn't just a school. harvard released a study saying it could make you die sooner. >> getting your feelings hurt. >> it builds up and builds up and then you die. it's called life. our third example is the arizona state university there. they have a petition to change walk only signs. they are insensitive to disabled people according to this petition. >> yes. of course it has nothing to do

with the actual path that they are accessible. they have assistance for handicapped students. it was about the word walk. some kid was on crutches. i never look at a crosswalk and said you know what i'm upset. >> the idea is to keep the skateboarders and bicycles off the area. >> the irony of all this you can't change these signs to protect people's feelings but in each case the university is attacking people because of these rules. >> there are serious consequences. we have these school reporting systems for microaggressions. >> some people's feelings matter. >> yeah. and no matter what you say, oh, a teacher didn't call you on you, it must be because the teacher is racist. >> is witch-hunt one word or

apparently not. the defense did a great job or did the prosecution screw it up? >> it's speculation, hypothesis guesswork. it's a weak circumstantial case. you can't prosecute a case based on speculation. the defense did a great job poking holes in this case. we have a constitution here. you got to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. >> can they do it without a body? >> there's blood in the house. there's blood with her dna in the kitchen and also in the garage. that's more than circumstantial evidence. >> you think he did it? >> here's what i think. i think the prosecution should dismiss without evidence and reinvestigate this case. if they go to trial again, it's another hung jury. >> blood splatter in a house is not -- when you live in the house, it's not significant at all. these are little particles of blood where you live in your house. if it was someone else's house,

it's significant. >> what are they going to do fourth time? the first two convictions overturned the third trial, a mistrial can they do a fourth? >> i think they make a mistake if they go to trial again right away. right after she goes missing, he has a garage sale for awful her goods, that's it she's gone. what does that tell you? >> there's no playbook to how someone acts as someone disappears. >> can they do a fourth time? >> they can absolutely do a fourth time and i think they are going to lose. i don't think there's enough evidence here. it's a horrible set of circumstances. >> it's a mistake from a prosecutorial standpoint to go a fourth time without more evidence. a prosecutor's job is to do justice. not to do cases. >> they had an expert -- >> i didn't like the expert. if they use the same expert not a good result. the expert could not explain blod in the house, could not explain it consistent with a murder taking place in that house. that's why the jury hung. >> because you can't explain it
