7:00 pm
gill foil's new book, "making the case." it's a fascinating read and she has overcome a lot in her life. thanks for watching everybody. i'm megyn kelly. see you tomorrow night. >> tonight, the president is silent as violence skyrockets in baltimore with over 100 homicides so far this year. >> black guys matter only when they're killed by cops. >> geraldo rivera weighs in. plus christianity under attack. >> we're at the water's edge of the argument that mainstream christian speaking is hate speech. and ann coulter holds nothing back during a heated interview about illegal immigration. >> if you don't want to be killed by a mexican, there's nothing i can tell you. >> she is here tonight to respond. >> still talking.
7:01 pm
plus senator rick santorum on why he is jumping into the 2016 race. "hannity" starts right here right now. >> welcome to "hannity" tonight. we're calling on president obama to break his deafening silence and finally speak out on the violence and chaos tearing apart minority communities coast to coast. there have been over 100 homicides in baltimore alone so far this year. and this of course comes after the tragic memorial day weekend where we saw dozens killed and dozens more shot in chicago, new york baltimore. just yesterday, josh earnest was asked how president obama feels about the surge in violence. >> we're certainly continued to be concerned about violence we're seeing in cities all across the country. i think it's an indication of how widespread this violence has become. there's no one simple answer to try and address this. this is certainly a challenge
7:02 pm
the president is ready to confront. >> he was so quick to rush to judgment on trayvon martin and michael brown. why? is it because it fit his narrative. meanwhile, he's ignoring a big underlying issue that could help calm the chaos in many cities in this country. police are now afraid to do their jobs because they are not being supported. take a listen to what a baltimore police officer who concealed his identity had to say on the show last night about police moral in the city of baltimore. >> when you have them targeting, trying to get armed offenders off the street. and those that are doing their jobs get indicted for murder you can't help but have repercussions where police are afraid to get out there and work. that they're not stopping cars. they're not looking for dug dealers. they're not doing the proactive
7:03 pm
work that reduced crime in baltimore the last 15 years. >> joining me now with reaction. sir, welcome back to the program. >> good evening, sean. >> i have spoken with many officers including the one we interviewed last night. they are afraid to do their job. they feel if they do it they're not going to get the support that they would need and the backup they would need to do their jobs. thus the surge in violence. what are you hearing? >> the baltimore city police department the officers particularly on the street have been e advice rated, their guts removed to have the courage to go out there and do this job. they're very fearful to go out there and be proactive -- we can't afford to be reactive especially in urban areas. the violence has surged. we've had 36 homicides in the last 27 days alone in baltimore city. this is absolutely unacceptable.
7:04 pm
i hope this is a shot fired across the bow well of mayors and urban leaders across this country. once you disem bowel your law enforcement officers you cannot protect your country. >> murder rate is up 60% year over year in the city. homicide rate up year over year 60% in new york. this past weekend, 12 people killed in chicago. dozens for shot and injured. you have nine killed in baltimore. is this now -- is this now spreading across the country? cops feeling they're not going to put their lives at risk because they're not going to be supported? is that the general feeling they have? is that causing this? >> that is a very accurate reflection of what i hear on a daily basis from law enforcement across this country. i'm hearing it all the time. they're fearful at doing their jobs. as you said before the president was quick to weigh in
7:05 pm
on trayvon martin. very quick to weigh in on the michael brown case and eric garner case but he's not used any of his presidential influence or power to stop the violence in baltimore city in chicago, where rahm emanuel is currently the mayor. nothing's been done about this at all. >> let me play the president attacking police weighing in before the facts are known in many of these cases and get your reaction to this and his deafening silence on all of these murders happening in many big cities. >> the cambridge police acted stupidly. there is a long history in this country of african-americans and latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately. that's just a fact. the african-american community is looking at this issue through a set of experiences. and a history that -- that
7:06 pm
doesn't go away. the african-american community is also knowledgeable that there is a history of racial disparities in the application of our criminal laws. in too many communities around the country, a gulf of mistrust exists between local residents and law enforcement. in too many communities, too many young men of color are left behind and seen only as objects of fear. there's some bad politicians who are corrupt. and there are folks in the business community or on wall street who don't do the right thing. well there's some police who aren't doing the right thing. >> all right. sheriff, i want to get your reaction to that. what do you think? has the president impacted this? >> sean he's impacted it tremendously. the racial disparities have grown exponentially under the
7:07 pm
obama administration under eric holder's leadership. we've seen this grow rapidly over the last several years. race relations were the best i had ever seen eight or ten years ago. they have eroded tremendously. >> thank you so much for being with us. here now, kevin jack con is back with us. civil rights attorney and geraldo rivera. you said something last week that really grabbed my attention. you said yeah, black lives matter only when they are killed by cops. >> it is infuriating to me. i heard elijah cummings the congressman who represents the west baltimore area say to me and to the crowd during the protest as he was trying to calm things down he said the police violence against young black men is the civil rights issue of our day. it is not the civil rights issue of our day. the civil rights issue of our day is black people killing
7:08 pm
black people. it's infuriating to me how everybody is dancing around the real issue. in baltimore, 109 homicides this year. 99 of them black on black. 12 homicides this week 11 of them black on black. in new york city nine killed, all of it black on black. this is the civil rights issue of our day. black people killing black people. >> dwight let me ask you. 12 people killed in chicago this weekend, nine in baltimore, nine in new york can you name any of them the names of any of those people killed? >> no, not off the top of my head. >> kevin, can you name any of them? >> no. i can't name any of them. there's too many to try to name. >> the president has spoken on all these high-profile cases cam bridge police, trayvon, michael brown, all cases he rushed to judgment. we know those names. why don't we know the names of
7:09 pm
the thousands versus the hundred a year black americans killed by cops? why do we only hear those names? kevin? >> i'll be happy to tell you. the civil rights issue of our day is liberals and democrats coraling black people in the cities taking away opportunity, not building any types of opportunity for them in the way of jobs in the way of anything that would be positive for the community. the connective tissue is all of these cities are overwhelmingly black, they're overwhelmingly wrought with crime. the problem is these -- by the way, it's all democrats and it's mostly black m didsdemocrats allowing this to happen. >> let me get a reaction from
7:10 pm
dwriegt on this. >> i think i heard inconsistent statements. i thought he said it was a civil rights problem in terms of the conditions that have been allowed to swell in the urban communities. this is not some problem created overnight. this in terms of jobs putting dope into the community, guns into the community, shutting down schools, this is something -- >> kevin made a point that these cities for decades were run by liberal democrats for all these years. >> i didn't contradict that. >> the president doesn't -- >> the conditions have been allowed to continue and have been exacerbated as they -- >> why -- 12 people this weekend were killed in his home city of chicago. why doesn't the president talk about that? >> the situation is deplorable. the president should be talking about it but he doesn't have any immediate fixes because
7:11 pm
there are no immediate fiktsxes to the social ills -- >> you are -- the president should be leading the way. he races into these high-profile cases. mr. constitutional attorney, without evidence half the time he ends up being wrong. he doesn't utter a word about the kids dying every day. >> it's easy politically for someone to say, we are being victimized in this case by officers usually white officers. that's easy because it fits a historic narrative. what is much more difficult to deal with is the reality. what is the reality? i think the last speaker hit on the social issues that are correct. what he leaves out is now these cities are run by a hidden network of gangs. gangs that are on business, doing the thriving business of drug dealing. these murders are largely -- >> if they really matter and the president is so critical of the police we're talking about a
7:12 pm
hundred, 120 incidents a year why not talk about the thousands also. >> urban america is committing a kind of suicide. this should be the president's priority. i'm not talking retorquehetorically here. in chicago, in new a washing, in new orleans, in detroit in baltimore. come on, stop now with the talking around with the real issue is. there's is crisis in urban america and the president has to deal with it. i think it's more of a threat than isis. >> wow. >> the crisis in urban america is that the president's never going to come in to talk about the 56% graduation rate in cleveland or the 60% graduation rate in baltimore where kids really need the help. he's not going to come in to help. he's only going to come in to talk about the issues that fit the narrative of the left and promote -- >> it's sad. what happens, more young kids
7:13 pm
die because it's being ignored. >> bring backstop and frisk. >> i agree with you. i agree with that. >> both should be elevated to the same level at the same time. you cannot separate police brutality and black-on-black murders. but they both have -- >> but the president only talks about one. he doesn't talk about the other and the other thousands that are dying. >> i agree with you. both should be raised at the same level. >> all right. >> the difference between the two, at least the criminal element we're attempting to prosecute, where historically the police element we have not prosecuted. >> i don't think we're prosecuting nearly -- anywhere near the crimes that are being committed. coming up next tonight here on "hannity" -- >> the next step is to argue that the teachings of mainstream christianity is hate speech. >> senator marco rubio issues a warning. and later, a political showdown in south carolina between 2016 presidential candidates hillary clinton and carly fiorina.
7:14 pm
plus you don't want to miss this. ann coulter will be here with reaction to her contentious town hall interview with jorge ramos and much more on "hannity." i am totally blind. and sometimes i struggle to sleep at night, and stay awake during the day. this is called non-24, a circadian rhythm disorder that affects up to 70 percent of people who are totally blind. talk to your doctor about your symptoms and learn more by calling 844-824-2424. or visit your24info.com.
7:15 pm
don't let non-24 get in the way of your pursuit of happiness.
7:16 pm
welcome back to "hannity." 2016 gop presidential candidate senator marco rubio is not backing down from the left's attacks on christians. in an interview, he issued a warning about what could happen
7:17 pm
if people of faith don't take a stand. >> mainstream christian teaching is hate speech because today we've reached a point where if you do not support same-sex marriage you're label add hater. >> here now with reaction is the national hispanic christian leadership conference samuel rodriguez. and american atheist president david silverman. is it to the point where you as an atheist would want if somebody is practicing their faith and they don't want -- as part of their faith marry gays and lesbians would you be in favor of what? >> you're talking about a preacher? >> following their faith. >> there's nobody out there who's saying christian preachers should be forced to marry people against their will. you and i can both agree that bigotry is wrong, ugly and stupid. we can all agree on that. we can also agree that most statistics show that most
7:18 pm
christians 60% of protestants and catholics support marriage equality. >> i'm asking though -- i'm talking about something different. >> we're not talking about attacks on christianity. we're talking about an attack on bigotry bigotry. >> i got it. you're not -- >> you're not letting me finish. >> if christian -- i'll ask dr. jeffers this. if a christian pastor or priest does not want to marry a gay or lesbian couple because they're following their religious belief is senator rubio right? >> that's completely fine. >> he is absolutely correct. and let me give you some facts. just last month, obama's solicitor general was in the oral arguments for gay marriage before the supreme court and they ask him if gay marriage becomes a civil right in the law of the land won't that pose a
7:19 pm
problem for churches and religious organizations. and finally he had to admit, yes, it's going to be a very real problem for churches. the obama administration is sending us a signal that they are going to come after those who believe in traditional marriage. we can debate all day and all night. the fact is traditional marriage has been in civilization for thousands of years as anthony kennedy pointed out. it's been embraced by our country for hundreds of years and embraced by liberals until the last several years. for him to say that's hateful is ludicrous. >> dr. rodriguez? >> i completely agree with senator marco rubio. the moment in america, the moment in our nation biblical truth stands defined as hate speech america as we know it will cease to exist. globally and explicit via isis. in america and other nations
7:20 pm
around the world, legislative persecution. and the latter always precedes the former. if 70% of americans are still christians silence is not an option. >> do you as an atheist believe in freedom of religion and the free exercise thereof. >> i -- >> i got that. >> people's religious beliefs should not be a cloak to be used to hide their bigotry. >> i'm asking you freedom of religion and free exercise thereof traditional christianity example what you describe as bigotry is a part of their faith -- >> it's not a part of their faith. >> excuse me. it actually is -- >> the christians disagree with you. >> if the church teaches -- >> many churches think -- >> dr. jeffers, as a preacher -- >> this is about bigotry -- >> no. it's been a part of the teaching
7:21 pm
of historic christianity for thousands of years. >> thousands of years? >> yes. for thousands of years. judaism believed in one man and one woman being the marriage model. it's been around for thousands of years. let me tell you what david silverman believes. he believes religion should be free as long as it's exercised in the home church or synagogue. he does not believe of the free exercise of religion in the public square. >> i completely -- >> listen. listen. >> let him finish. >> when he put up bull boards mocking me and the pope, i laughed at it. i celebrated his right to express his unbelief. >> sean, and you -- a time. >> sean i agree with my atheist friend. it is about bigotry. but bigotry against christians. it is about intolerance, but up
7:22 pm
tolerancagainst christians. >> it's -- >> let him finish. >> those of us who believe in the bible. there is bigotry and intolerance, but it's against chris dhans. coming up 2016 presidential candidates they go toe-to toe in opposing events today. ed henry. he was there. he has all the details. but first, tonight -- >> i'm trying to preserve an endangered culture, the american culture. >> endangered culture. >> by 30 million illegal and legal immigrants being dumped on this country. >> things got heated last night when ann coulter went head to head with jorge ray months. coulter joins us in studio to respond. we'll show you some of the highlights straight ahead. ...served my country... ...carried the weight of a family... ...and walked a daughter down the aisle. but i couldn't bear my diabetic nerve pain any longer. so i talked to my doctor and he prescribed lyrica.

7:26 pm
night. conversation got a little heated. they went head to head on coulter's brand-new book on imbrags. take a look. >> i'm trying to preserve an endangered culture, the american culture. >> endangered culture. >> overwhelmed by 30 million illegal and legal immigrants being dumped on this country. >> you've said that americans should fear immigrants more than isis. >> yes. >> most immigrants are not terrorists not criminals. no one is -- >> if you don't want to be killed by isis don't go to syria. if you don't want to be killed by a mexican, there's nothing i can tell you. >> comes out next monday night, the author of the book "adios america". >> the left's plan to turn our country into a third world hell hole. >> i know jorge.
7:27 pm
>> i love jorge. i finally found a mexican willing to do a job no american will do. interview ann coulter. explosive book on the number one topic in the country. will abc, cbs have me on? no, no no. it's like i'm a blogger. so go jorge ramos. we had a great debate. i completely disagree. at least he cares about getting ratings -- >> i think he also cares about the topic. >> i hope we are. he did a fantastic job and i love him. i wish we could get a liberal to debate me monday night, which we're going to try to do. i submitted a list. >> on this show? >> segment three. >> geraldo. >> but we'll be doing it so much on his radio show. but that would be great too. this is what the first -- well, i don't want to talk about my
7:28 pm
book until monday. one big part of this this is the one debate you cannot hear in america. you can hear both sides of the abortion debate. both sides of global warming. you cannot hear both sides of the immigration debate and i'm just asking for a debate. >> i want the debate. this is an issue i've covered. i've been to the border. i've been down there nearly ten times. i've been out on helicopter, boats, all-terrain vehicles. i've been there when criminals and gang members were arrested. i've been in the drug warehouses. i've seen it all. i don't think people realize the amount of drugs being smuggled into this country and the cost to our criminal justice system, health care system and educational system. is that your point? >> no. >> it's not? what is your point? >> it's part of my point. i begin -- it goes went up today by saying -- one of the many things i love about my new
7:29 pm
love jorge ramos is that he ended the interview by asking me the question that i think all authors should be asked, because most books are a compilation of everything the average news consumer already knew. we've collected it for you in this little book. my books aren't that. i research my own books. i write my own books. this was not the original topic of my book. this was the third topic. during the course of my research you can't just send some research assistant to find out something you already knew when you need the footnote for it. no i look it all up myself and discovered how much information is being hidden from the american public. that drove me crazy. >> can't talk about the book -- >> this is such a small fraction of facts that you might know five of them. most people will know none of the facts that i just listed in bullet points. and that's a fraction of what
7:30 pm
they will learn from this book. >> i want to go to the exchange about fearing immigrants more than isis. >> right. >> and he went into a line of questioning that you saying that people are genetically inferior or predisposed, i'm paraphrasing, to commit crimes. i didn't take it that way. he obviously took it that way. what did you specifically mean by that? >> he just asked it. but no. this gets a little bit more to the heart of the book but it's already out there on fusion tv. that is that there are different cultures. some cultures are successful. obviously ours is massively successful. we're bringing in people from backward primitive cultures and then expecting them to turn into middle class americans with hundreds of years of a cultural history behind it. no. we are bringing in people with
7:31 pm
very different traditions which i go into great detail in in my book. >> many people have come from mexico that are hard working tax paying americans came in legally and they are a part of our society and doing great. >> yes. and many haven't. >> and that's what you're talking about. >> not only that -- not only the media coverup which is massive, but the government coverup. not giving us basic information about the people they are bringing into this country in order to change it into a direction that is more favorably disposed to vote for the democrats. >> you think this is voting based? >> 100%. >> what about the republicans that won't close the border? >> they'll win elections for the next five years and then it will be nothing but a democratic country. >> so you're with me on monday. do you really believe america will become a hell hole if we don't secure the border?
7:32 pm
>> without question. i wrote the second to last chapter particularly for those rich republican donors. i've been working like mad trying to get this in the hands of the koch brothers and others. i thought you were going to ask me to give you a hug. >> not me. this is a woman that asked you for a hug last night. >> this undocumented immigrant who has lived in this nation for almost 22 years wants to as a sign of my humanity and yours recognize you and say can i give you a hug. >> no let's get on with the question. >> okay. thank you. >> first, you said you were sick. >> i had given her a hug, the headline would have been ann coulter infects illegal alien. >> monday night you'll be back. >> coming up a political showdown in south carolina. 2016 presidential candidates hillary clinton and fiorina held competing events at the same hotel.
7:33 pm

welcome back to "hannity." a political showdown taking place in south carolina earlier today. 2016 gop presidential candidate carly fiorina held a press conference outside of a hotel where the democratic 2016 contender hillary clinton later host add small business roundtable. fiorina has shown she's not afraid to take on the democrat's chosen one. here with the latest details on the fireworks there is ed henry. ed pretty heated i hear? >> good to see you. it was pretty much a sidewalk news conference for carly fiorina here. hillary clinton was inside the hotel not taking questions from reporters. remember, she took questions
7:39 pm
twice last week. today, did not, as various new angles on the clinton foundation story broke over the last 24 hours. instead, trying to deal with unfinished business here in south carolinament 2008 this may have been her worst. lost by 29 points in part because of a backlash for racially charged situation, some african-american voters turned off by comments she made former president bill clinton made. so she was reaching out today to african-american voters. also trying to focus in on winning over female voters. listen. >> i've spent by adult life going to bat for children families and our country. and i do know how hard this job i'm seeking is. i have seen it up close and personal. >> not so fast said carly fiorina who's the only female republican candidate in this presidential race. she had this news conference.
7:40 pm
had been planning for weeks to be in k4ru78 ya. insisted she was not just following hillary clinton around. she said these questions about the clinton foundation and other personal matters for both clintons have to be pressed by the media but by the eventual republican nominee. listen. >> i think the republicans need a nominee who will ask these questions. i hope the media will continue asking these questions. i appreciate very much the opportunity to answer your questions. i hope you'll continue to be as aggressive with mrs. clinton. but, yes, i think we need a nominee who will ask her these questions about transparency and about track record. >> as to your question about whether or not she's getting under the clinton skin, i know that officially the campaign says they're not paying attention to some of this, what they consider to be noise.
7:41 pm
i did note on the sidewalk as i asked a couple questions, there were a couple of clinton campaign staffers outside at least tracking and keeping up with what she said. >> thanks. here with reaction i don't think there's been a day that's gone by where something new doesn't develop for the clintons. >> right. >> she's not viewed as honest and trust worthy. number of polls back this up. doesn't the bleeding have to stop for them? >> she's still ahead in the polls. since there really aren't a lot of good answers, why should she address them especially when she's cruising to the nomination apparently without any opposition. >> you don't think governor o'malley can put up any fight with her? you don't think elizabeth warren who's been more outspoken against her isn't contemplating to get in? >> i think elizabeth warren is the only one who can rival

7:44 pm
>> you think buying influence is okay? >> i don't think it's buying influence. >> should it be against the law, then? >> i think it probably shouldn't have been done and may well violate the understanding. i hope it's legislated out of existence going forward. >> if she had a high ethical standard she wouldn't do it? >> i think it was -- >> if she had high ethical standard -- come on let's not split hairs. >> they should not have taken it. >> coming up senator rick santorum announced he is running for president earlier today. he's going to join us for a "hannity" exclusive straight ahead. when eating healthy and drinking water just isn't enough to ease my constipation i trust dulcolax tablets. i take dulcolax for dependable overnight relief and in the morning i am back to myself dulcolax, designed for dependable relief
