activity. if you see something, say something. >> and governor can drew como took the unusual step of offering a $100,000 award described the complex escape earlier today. >> this was an elaborate plot. if it was in a movie script you would have said it was overdone. it took a number of days there's no doubt and it took equipment that they should not have had. and that then generates the question how did they get the equipment. did they get it from a private contractor. was there a civilian employee cooperating and that's what we're looking at. >> we have a lot to get to. governor cuomo points out very elaborate escape scheme likely not hatched overnight. >> of course not. there is definitely a thought, premeditation and planning in the execution. where did they get the tools they needed to be able to make

the escape? who didn't do their job properly. you don't escape from a security prison like this without somebody on the inside helping you along the way which is a huge problem. >> at the same time i mean it happens more often than you would think. when doing research you saw 2,000 people escaped among prisoners in 2013. 22 were in new york. 2,500 escaped in 2012. these guys are high profiled but there are more prison breaks than people know. >> whether it's a maximum security prison or a jail facility. >> definitely. >> and these guys had the tunnel. they broke through with some high level equipment and they tunneled their way through and somehow got a locked manhole cover open and out. >> i don't know if it's exactly like the clint eastwood movie. they cut a hole through their cell and put that classic -- they put the clothes in the bed. why does that still work,

back and like i was telling the other officer i couldn't breathe could he get off of me. he got off of me. that's when he put me in handcuffs and another officer asked if i was okay. i said no. getting fired isn't enough because this could happen to anybody. >> but before you judge this officer, listen to this eyewitness who refused to be shown on camera out of fear for her safety. >> he grabbed her arm to try and handcuff her and she was -- she started resisting immediately and she should have just stopped at that point like anybody and sat down and put her hands behind her back and he said lie on the floor. she wouldn't. they were just doing the right thing when these kids were fleeing and using profanity and threatening security guards. >> i would do it again. you see one thing. you see that one side of the story and then maybe hear a bit more information as time goes on. kind of softens the tone. >> it's a pretty horrifying picture when you see it. she's in a bikini and a young girl.

then you have to look at the full situation and do the investigation and talk to eyewitnesses because you're seeing a portion of the tape versus the whole incident in its entirety. as a prosecutor it may look one way on this clip but what else happened? what preceded the incident? >> all morning long -- this happened sunday afternoon. all morning long i heard quite a few pundits crying race in this. now, i'm going to push back on the race issue. this cop came. he saw a bunch of kids and he may have acted properly or improperly whatever. i don't think race had anything to do with it do you? >> i have no idea because all we saw was a couple seconds of the clip and somebody else's opinion as to what happened. who knows. this is why you investigate. doesn't look like it was racially motivated. who knows. >> so the pundits who are calling race -- >> premature. >> there are a lot of other factors out there. people were going on twitter to say more and more people come

by. there is video out there on other networks of all the things happening in the lead up to this moment.remember this looks terrible. it was one snapshot in time and many things were happening before and after. there were reports the officers were telling people to lay down and as soon as they turned they were jumping up and rumpnning away. when you take one moment in time without everything that came before it -- it's difficult to judge. >> even that i saw this online. shocking video. didn't shock me at all. i'm thinking okay the cops are breaking up a party. these guys are great. >> a young girl in a bathing suit. i disagree with you. >> if you watch this tape -- >> you're really something today. >> hold on a second. two kids or three kids came up to him and they ran. two other kochs joined this cop and this guy pull as weapon. now i'm one of the biggest if not the biggest defenders of law enforcement in -- i don't know -- in the building anywhere i cannot for the life

position. it is not the law. therefore this ridiculousness by this reverend makes no sense. he wants to focus on an object and not about the individual choosing to use it in a way that is illegal. >> baltimore in seven full days in baltimore now at the number of homicides in baltimore is on pace to exceed last month which was a 40 year high in the number of homicides in baltimore. as we point the finger at cops places get more violent. >> yeah i agree. there's a horrible epidemic going on right now. at the same time you can't say that the nra's job number one is not to sell as many guns as possible. it is their job. they're gun manufacturers. >> but selling more guns doesn't necessarily mean crime goes up. in fact the numbers prove that when more guns are in the hands of americans crimes go down. >> i can show you other studies that disprove what you said but.
