1:00 am
@foxnews.com. we're back home in washington next sunday as you know at 11:00 and 5:00 eastern. we'll see you then with the latest buzz. fox urgent the sun is setting on another day of one of the highest profile prisoner hunts in upstate new york new hampshire, several states on alert for days now as a growing police and federal agent force is now searching for two vicious killers. and word they may have gotten very far south, even possibly as far south as the border mexico. new york governor andrew cuomo saying in a situation like this investigators must leave, well no stone unturned. >> you follow up every tip, every lead. you are as conscientious as you can be on every lead because you never know which one is going to be the one.
1:01 am
we don't know if they are still in the immediate area or if they are in mexico by now. >> well we do know they had a lot of help. new details we're learning about the woman at the center of it all. a district attorney saying the prisoner worker she is accused of helping the men escape backed out of the original plan to drive the convicted killers seven hours away. she's now facing multiple charges. no word on where they all had planned to go as hundreds now spend a ninth day searching for those inmates. peter doocy is live outside of the prisoner. how confident are authorities now that authorities are getting close to these guys? >> reporter: harris there's no indication that these fugitive murderers made it anywhere else further outside of the 13-square mile search area. until there is we are told that the search will continue fully
1:02 am
here. now, today the search area did expand. it shifted slightly east but not by very much even though officials appear to be doing some guessing now. today the u.s. marshals were going door to door looking for any sign of richard matt or david sweat and asking if they wanted any structures on their property searched. road blocks are still in place near the prison. officers seem slightly more relaxed than yesterday. in fact one road route 374, is going to reopen tomorrow night. so are schools. they are going to reopen for the first time in several days as the search effort that is costing more than $1 million per day in equipment and manpower and overtime continues. many officers that we've seen look committed but exhausted. it's been more than a week now with no confirmed sighting of
1:03 am
either man. >> so now this woman accused of possibly being accused of the help that they may have gotten what more have you learned? >> reporter: we're learning a lot. it turns out that these two men who very meticulously planned every step from their jail cell to a manhole cover down the street thought their alleged accomplice joyce mitchell was going to pick them up at midnight and then take them seven hours away from here in her jeep. that plan did not pan out and she's being very candid in her role. they think she's being candid because she might feel bad about what she did. >> i understand [ inaudible ] and having a relationship between guards and inmates and employees and inmates is
1:04 am
important. but there's a line and when the line is stepped over then action has to be taken. >> reporter: as for any potential involvement by joyce mitchell's husband, it doesn't sound like there was any. we're told that his name is not coming up in her debriefing. joyce mitchell the alleged accomplice is due back in court here in upstate new york tomorrow morning. harris? >> if any new updates happen we'll keep you close and bring you back. thank you very much. new information now about the suspect who shot up the dallas police headquarters. [ gunfire ] that shooter now identified as james boulware had a history of erratic behavior including attacking his own mother. he fired into police headquarters and led officer ons a chase that ended up in a parking lot miles away. a sniper shot him through the
1:05 am
windshield killing him. his van, which contained explosives went up in flames as s.w.a.t. teams detonated those bombs. investigators say he blamed police for losing custody of his son. fox news is america's election headquarter its. jeb bush ending what little doubt there was about his 2016 presidential run. we know he's set to officially kick off his presidential campaign tomorrow in miami and now three minutes on tape called "making a difference." it tells the stories of several people from florida who were touched by jeb bush's time in office. here's a little bit of it. >> this is what leadership is about. it's not just about yapping about things. there's a lot of people talking and they are pretty good at it. we need to start fixing things. i said i was going to do these things and i did them and the result is florida is a lot
1:06 am
better off. >> the bush campaign says he'll focus on people over politics and answer questions. some of them are expected to be about his views, those that include his father and brother who were both former presidents. >> jeb bush is going to focus on the same thing that was in the campaign video released today. it's all about his executive experience and the things that he was able to accomplish as the governor of florida. >> my core belief is that the vulnerable should be in the front of the line not the back. as governor i had a chance to act on that core belief. >> jeb bush will head to the early caucus in primary states new hampshire on tuesday, iowa on wednesday and south carolina on thursday. along the way, he needs to do two things. he needs to set himself apart from his family's famous last name and win over the conservative wing of the gop. today, on another sunday show the 2012 republican nominee,
1:07 am
mitt romney he defended jeb bush's conservative record. listen. >> he has a very strong record. he doesn't have to speak his way into conservativism. he has lived conservativism and i think that will hold him in good step. >> once jeb bush enters the race there will be 11 gop candidates and that doesn't even include governor scott walker and chris christie who still haven't officially said if they are running. >> now, we go from this prelaunch video from jeb bush to a relaunch live from hillary clinton. and i understand some questions about foreign policy. what is she talking about in iowa? >> well she didn't talk a lot about it yesterday at her first big campaign rally in new york city but she did talk about it a little bit today. she talked about isis during a radio interview and finally weighed in on the trade deal
1:08 am
that is dividing democrats. at a campaign stop in iowa hillary clinton sided with the house democrats who killed the president's plan to fast track that trade deal through congress. >> the president should listen to and work with his allies in congress starting with nancy pelosi who have expressed their concerns about the impact that a weak agreement would have on our workers to make sure we get the best strongest deal possible and if we don't get it there should be no deal. >> tomorrow clinton will be in new hampshire and then south carolina on wednesday. all of those early primary states was a first primary still over seven months away. harris? >> i notice. that's a way to get your name in the headlines, take a shot at the president. i wonder what that will roll out to be in full this week.
1:09 am
kirstin, always good to see you. >> thank you. jeb bush will sit down with our own sean hannity on tuesday night at 10:00 p.m. eastern on fox news. word that isis is retreating at least partially in syria. kurdish forces backed by u.s.-coalition air strikes are gaining ground in the town north of raqqa, which is the so-called isis territory. thousands of people caught up in that fight, as you know trying to especially scape to turkey. but we've learned that there's a border fence keeping them from reaching the other side to safety. more on what our military is doing later in this hour. for now, here's conor powell with the humanitarian disaster unfolding in syria. conor? >> reporter: pro-american
1:10 am
kurdish fighters continue to make gains towards isis. it's a rare sign of progress in the fight against the insurgents. kurdish militias are regaining control of the strategic town that would cut off a key smuggling route to turkey used to move weapons and fighters. in recent days thousands of syrian refugees have fled the area trying to escape the violence only to be rounded up by isis fighters as turkish troops stood by watching. some were able to cross safely over into turkey while others cut barbed wire fences. still a member of nato and a u.s. ally turkey views the
1:11 am
kurds more of an enemy than isis. this is just one of the many complicating factors in trying to end the more than four-year war in syria. harris? >> conor, thank you. the pentagon confirming that u.s. forces conducted an air strike inside libya. top officials are not giving many details but they targeted a second-tier al qaeda operative somewhere inside syria. whomever they hit was responsible for an assault on a gas plant. and this is the first u.s. strike that we know about in libya this year. right now, the pentagon is also keeping a close eye on russia with this development. negotiations are under way to store some of our military's biggest weapons in a place where vladimir putin might take a little bit of note. and severe flooding led to tragedy and chaos.
1:12 am
zoo animals on the loose, roaming the swampy streets. rescue crews telling people to stay inside because these animals, well they've never seen boundaries that have humans in them. yes, we are twins. when i went on to ancestry i just put in the name of my parents and my grandparents and i was getting all these leaves and i was going back generation after generation. you start to see documents and you see signatures of people that you've never met. i mean you don't know these people but you feel like you do. you get connected to them. i wish that i could get in a time machine and go back 100 years, 200 years and just meet these people. being on ancestry, it just made me feel like i belong somewhere. discover your story. start searching for free now at ancestry.com

1:14 am
1:15 am
the pentagon is considering a big change in eastern europe against an increasingly aggressive russia which, as you know is actively engaged in conflict with its neighbor ukraine. nato may move troops and heavy equipment like tanks to eastern europe and we should note our military is already reportedly shifting many more resources to the fight against isis. the u.s. is sending more trips into iraq at a time when the president admitted last week we do not have a complete strategy to defeat that terrorist army. elizabeth prann has that story
1:16 am
from washington. elizabeth? >> hi harris. they are doing a little flexing in eastern europe. 450 troops are being sent to train iraqi forces. this means troops will be in iraq and a number more than what president obama previously authorized. there's an uptick in awareness from the pentagon to deter possible russian aggression in europe. military officials are looking to send infantry weapons and supplies for as many as 5,000 american troops in eastern european countries. the secretary of defense needs to make that call and so far a decision has not been made. and there are 17 nato nations coordinating a response to a potential world crisis. and this includes an increase in manpower from last year's drills. general stanley mcchrystal says
1:17 am
the military should be in those areas, even limited forces he says is a good step. >> if you think that russia is pursing a lot of traditional russian national objectives and then putin also has ideas of being probably outsized in his influence, putting military forces in those countries is a good step. >> general mcchrystal went on to elaborate about the u.s. involvement in iraq saying that there needs to be a clear objective and a credible coalition that works together. harris, back to you. >> elizabeth thank you. we've been watching a situation at a zoo which houses the most dangerous animals on the planet in the former soviet republic of georgia and the problem is intense flooding following heavy rain and wind. at least 12 people have died from high water and mudslides in and around the capital city of tbilisi. the zoo is so heavily damaged that wild animals were able to
1:18 am
get out of it. tigers lions, bears and wolves. it's not clear how many of those other animals remain at large. helicopters have been circling the city all day long warning people to stay inside. you wouldn't have to tell me twice, by the way. a nine-story apartment building has collapsed and four people are dead and others are trapped. let's take a look. this is southwest china. much of the rescue operation captured on video. one woman was stuck five stories up tied a safety rope around her waist and inched her way along the edge of a broken window toward wherever she would get to to wait for firefighters. look at that. actually other survivors pulled her to safety. this was all caught on video. nearby residential buildings were evacuated as a precaution and investigation to see why that building fell. >> a big capture in the war on illegal drugs and there's also a video of that. it's of our u.s. coast guard at
1:19 am
work. and the amusement park mishap that left some coaster riders at coney island, well, without a ride.
1:20 am
1:21 am
1:22 am
the u.s. coast guard hit the high seas and seized large white bags carrying marijuana and cocaine following two drug busts in colombia and panama. the combined value was $14 million. smugglers could not outrun our coast guard. >> your will to catch them has to be greater than their will to get away. it can get extraordinary dangerous because you're chasing
1:23 am
someone anywhere from 20 to 40 miles per hour. >> it's believed that they were shipping the cocaine and marijuana from central america to here the united states. accidental gunfire erupted at the famous waldorf astoria hotel. a guest was carrying a gun when it accidently went off. it hit a woman in the head but her injuries are not life threatening. the gun owner was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and assault. some 24 people were aboard the famous cyclone roller coaster at coney island when it halted and they were forced to climb down a ladder. no one was hurt. this has happened twice already this season. the roller coaster has broken down like you see right there. it first went into operation in
1:24 am
1927 and we've read that it has a shaky history. even so it's been a popular attraction for coney island ever since. speaking of popular, i saw it friday night, "jurassic world." it is big and ruling the box office this weekend. wow. universal's dyno thriller stomped the competition earning more than half a billion dollars. matt are you laughing? you are. "jurassic world" is the fourth film the dyno-size films. by the way, chris pratt was really good on screen. but that's just my opinion. and now back to the news. jeb bush is set to officially enter the presidential race tomorrow.
1:25 am

1:29 am
i'm harris faulkner. jeb bush is set to announce his 2016 presidential plans tomorrow all indications are that he'll enter the race telling fox news earlier this week -- or last week i should say -- that he is quote, ready for the long haul. the governor releasing that video that we showed you at the top of the hour before his announcement many miami calling for new leadership with conservative principles. jeb bush will go on the road we're told visiting several primary states. look at that smile. former republican congressman for new york pat goodell and fox news contributor, doug
1:30 am
schoen former pollster for bill clinton and fox contributor. good to see you guys. >> good to see you. >> jeb bush. what are your first thoughts? >> that jeb bush has had a very troubled first six months. >> really? >> yes. he can't anticipate and handle obvious questions like do you support -- >> wait a minute. he's not an official candidate. >> it doesn't matter harris. >> what? the facts matter. >> it means nothing to the voter whether you're an announced candidate or not. he's been on every show giving speeches all over the country and he's not done well. i know there are all of these stories that have come out about mayhem behind the scenes inside his campaign. they are not the reason he's a weak candidate. he is the reason he's the weak candidate. and they called him today, pat, the dynasty candidates hillary and jeb, and here we go with hillary. she's not a great candidate either. >> no. she had a -- we'll get to that.
1:31 am
>> yeah we'll talk to that later. how about jeb on jeb, which is what our production team called it. let's watch this and then i'll get your response. let's watch. >> well jeb is different than george and jeb is who he is. my life story is different. and i got to do that when i ran as governor and got to share my passion for service when i was governor. in telling that story, it's going to be part of this. it's something that took a little getting used to me personally to be able to show my heart because i'm kind of introverted. >> does he need to do that? >> i don't think people know who he is. i think -- >> you don't think people know who jeb bush is? >> he's a bush. he hasn't been in public office for a long time. >> he was governor of the state of florida. >> he's been out for seven years. >> and then in this game it's a lifetime. and, you know i think he has one thing going for him. he seems very comfortable with himself. and in that sense, presidential.
1:32 am
i think he's got a lot of other problems. he's very lucky he's going to follow hillary. he's been set up now for a contrast and we'll see how that goes. >> hillary, my goodness she's already had two relaunches. but apparently we'll talk about her later. >> she'll have another launch before it gets going. even though they have had problems i think the dangers here is that by "the new york times" front page of "new york times," the new campaign manager was described as a guy to attack the other guy. i'm thinking you don't want that. believe me. that's not what you want for your campaign. so he'll have a big opportunity. >> i want to go to doug now. doug you have this prelaunch video. what's the purpose of doing that? >> the prelaunch video is set to do two things set the stage for the announcement and, two, as pat and john were suggesting change the conversation away
1:33 am
from the only subject that people have really been talking about, which are the problems of jeb bush which is being the candidate of money and not message, the candidate of internal disorganization and the candidate of bad polls. this is to try to talk about the future which is what jeb bush has to do if he's going to succeed. >> you know what is interesting, some people who say part of that statement that doug schoen just made could be said about hillary clinton. >> they are both the other side of the same coin. they are dynasty candidates who, on their own, i don't think they are good political candidates. obviously bill clinton was a very good candidate. hillary can't measure up to him. she's adequate reading a speech. she can't answer a question in a speech. that thing was a disaster yesterday. >> we'll talk about her. i want to concentrate on what is coming up with jeb bush which is interesting. because it's almost impossible
1:34 am
to talk about one campaign without the other because they are bumping into each other right now with her relaunch this weekend and then -- >> they've asked for it. they've asked for it. but as i said again, jeb bush will have an opportunity to go out and position himself against -- >> what would you tell him to do? >> i would tell him to have -- first of all, i think he's got to have a strong message and really challenge where he's trying to go. i think he's got to say, here i am who i am and i'm different from my family. >> it's too late. it's not going to happen. >> why is it too late? >> because he could have done it a little bit when the first thing came up with going into iraq he should have known that was coming and said look i love my brother. i'm not dumping on my brother but i would have never have done it. >> does that cause problems behind the scenes? >> i think the staff probably already anticipated it and he didn't take theed a advice of what to do. >> i'd like to ask this question
1:35 am
for doug. is doug announcing tomorrow because hillary announced yesterday? >> very good questions but i don't think so. i think he's announcing because the next round of polls are critical for getting into the debate and i think he is really scared to death that if he's in the middle of the pact come the end of this month, the beginning of july he's going to go into that series of debates as a less than front-runner with scott walker and marco rubio looking a lot better as 16 17 candidates emerge. he's got to move away from the super pact race. >> i want to talk about governor scott walker of wisconsin for a second. we learned this weekend as well that he's planning an announcement on july 13th. >> well it's the same thing. we now are a month and a half away from the first debate which is august 6th. in order to get in a debate you have to be in a top ten in five
1:36 am
of the average -- the average of five national polls. all right. so to guarantee you're in that top ten, if you wait a little bit and announce in july like scott walker is going to do you get the boost, you know and a little thing and go up a little bit and end that top ten. >> i have more news. donald trump is making an announcement on tuesday. we don't know what it is going to be but he's going to new hampshire on wednesday. >> he's going to announce that he's running after many times of -- let me tell you, with the trade bill that got voted down the republican leadership. he's going to royal this race. he may be unpopular in some circles but his message to republicans and others about trade with voters who do not understand why their leadership in congress is working so hard to help barack obama, the lawless president, have total power, he is going to be smart. he's going to royal this race. he's got other issues and i think -- >> can you see him in the
1:37 am
debate what he would do to the other nine? >> he's going to put the them. >> it will be a huge factor. >> doug your thoughts? >> yeah. the republican electorate harris as pat and john are suggesting are very very angry. they are looking for anti-systemic, anti-washington change. i agree. i don't think donald trump is going to be the republican nominee. he's certainly not going to be president. but he has the capacity to shake up a race that at this point needs energy and excitement on both sides. it's not just republicans. it's democrats, too. >> so the hillary clinton campaign didn't do it for you? >> no. i don't see anybody -- >> nobody that you wouldn't work on hillary clinton's campaign? >> we're not doing campaigns. we're working here.
1:38 am
>> doug has had that privilege so he can speak to it. i think that these campaigns at the moment all look like they are diskeblthconnected. we had a rmformer secretary of state yesterday in which she talked about foreign policy. now, with the entire world blowing up 3% of her speech was about foreign policy. 8% was about transgender. >> all right. we're going to talk more about hillary clinton. she's in iowa today. one day after essentially relaunching her campaign. by the way, on twitter there are questions about how you guys would grade the relaunch. i'll ask that on behalf of our viewers. she's talking to the media and asking some questions. what bill clinton is saying about her potential rivals also in the gop field. the political fox insiders are coming back. hit us up on our fox news media pages, facebook and twitter.
1:39 am
thanks for calling angie's list. how may i help you? i heard i could call angie's list if i needed work done around my house at a fair price. you heard right, just tell us what you need done and we'll find a top rated provider to take care of it. so i could get a faulty light switch fixed? yup! or have a guy refinish my floors? absolutely! or send someone out to groom my pookie? pookie's what you call your? my dog. yes, we can do that. real help from real people. come see what the new angie's list can do for you.
1:40 am
1:41 am
1:42 am
sdmo of. . all right. here we go. the former secretary of state stumping stumping in iowa after giving the campaign speech in new york city. john, pat on set with me and doug is somewhere fun. you're in phoenix, i guess. >> no i'm in los angeles. >> oh okay. cool. >> how did the insiders grade hillary's relaunch? >> i guess it was a ladies "c" at best. >> you gave her a "c." how did she do on the first one? >> i thought that was a c minus.
1:43 am
>> so the big question is can it turn that around? we've seen several polls which question the trustworthiness of this potential presidential candidate. okay? not potential but presidential candidate. but people behind the scenes with her campaign including the campaign manager, they see it differently. let's watch robby muke. okay. i'll tell you what he said. what he said was these polls don't exist. but what you can see from the screen is, they surely do. "the washington post"/abc news poll asks if she's honest and trustworthy. and 52% said no. and the cnn poll 26% said not trustworthy.
1:44 am
not at all, 42%. you add that up and that's -- >> 68%. >> -- of those who are not concerned about this but concerned. >> can i give you a piece of analysis on this? >> please. >> when hillary arrived here and was elected, there was tremendous sympathy for her. here we are 15 years later, hillary has no sympathy left for her. she's perpetrating these scandals the speaking fees not seeming to tell the truth about it. the sympathy on her base and that is why pat discovered erosion there. >> right. okay. i want to make this clear. 31%, doug of the democrats said that they are very concerned. >> here's the issue as i see it as a pollster.
1:45 am
about a third of the democratic electorate are worried about the allegations of impropriety or dishonesty. it's enough that that is it a point of concern. what she's going to do is trying to make it clear and she has doubts about the trade bill and about income and equality and martin o'malley a prospective candidate. the broader general electorate is much more concerned as the numbers in "the washington post" and abc poll suggests about integrity. but hillary, i think, did what she needed to do but if you asked the question you asked before the break, has she answered fully the concerns that people have? not by a long shot.
1:46 am
>>. >> she hasn't even touched them in my opinion. by the way, it goes to 41% when you ask democrats whether or not she and her husband were -- she was trading favors for money and it gets -- and by the way, the other analysis -- >> and that's among democratic votes? >> yes and the deeper you get in the worse you get. >> so how serious is it going to be? >> it's going to be a serious problem because she can't address it. watching her team today come out and not only did you have the campaign manager denying the reality, you had the -- on our network, karen finney was there and when asked about income inequality and her $250,000 speeches well she talked about her mother. and i'm going, this is great. and then you have the strategists who i've always found not to be lackluster. but he was talking about his analysis in texas and i'm
1:47 am
thinking the whole thing is a mess in that sense and what they are trying to do is say she's a fighter. well she wasn't fighting on the trade bill. she's hiding from it. she's deserting every belief that she ever has. she's so far left because she's afraid. >> let me tell you who is not fighting too. she did two interviews in iowa. you asked about it before the break. and in neither interview did the media ask her about these scandals. it's a deal that we all know. they make the deal do you want an interview with hillary in the first day in iowa? >> it can be like that. >> what do you think? >> however, i will say this. in reading through some of the questions and seeing some of the interviews those questions were exactly as john characterized them. they were not on point with some of the issues that we're talking about which seems to be resonating with voters. >> a year ago when the book came out, they made deals with women
1:48 am
reporters to give the first interviews and they said what do you eat for breakfast? >> i'm going to throw some of the social media comments to you. "harris, how could hillary present a more charismatic side? is that organic or can it be manufactured?" manufactured?" >> they are trying to manufacture it and her mother who has had quite a heroic and honorable life is to try to infuse hillary with empathy and passion and commitment. i'm not sure it's exactly what voters are looking for. voters want to know what you're doing in the future what's your program and how are you going to make my life better but hillary figured for the time being, for the official launch of the campaign this was the way to go. >> this is tough criticism from twitter. but i want to say it's from former poll takers.
1:49 am
lynn w. writes "at this point in history, the u.s. does not need an aloof grandmother of questionable character as president." that is really harsh. >> a lot of people feel that way. i think she is -- they are trying to devise what you see going on is everything you say and speak is manufactured what she did yesterday, the crowd that only women reporters covering her was huge and every other reporter that looked at the audience and said it was much smaller. you know and she's leaning back on this -- what i consider somewhat of a -- i'm a little offended by. in the end, her desperation is vote for me because i'm a woman. >> go quickly. >> i think the grandmother part could have been an asset. >> it's not real. >> right. it's not real. >> what are you talking about? >> the part that is not real is a questionable character. that is what is killing politics in america, is the leadership of both parties have bad chearks.
1:50 am
>> well the country -- >> the campaign manager does not think exists. >> doesn't acknowledge. >> that's very odd. we'll talk more after this. stay on.
1:51 am
1:52 am
1:53 am
and significant diversity. and they are no dummies. i mean it's interesting. and they believe what they believe. >> bill clinton on gop presidential hopefuls. the fox news political insiders are back. john and pat and doug on remote. john? >> well he never really says negative stuff about the republicans. i think he doesn't want to detract from hillary. he wants the focus on her. let me say, leaving that aside for a second we're witnessing the weakest presidency ever
1:54 am
