back of the book segment tonight, let's go to charleston, south carolina grieving this evening. very nice town victimized by a domestic terrorists. geraldo is on the scene. what is the headline down there tonight? >> i would make the headline racist judas uncull
8:48 pm
indicates inculcates himself with faith pretending to care about their prayer, entering their church only to cut them down. you know bill, first it reminded me of the four little girls in 1963 in birmingham, alabama, who were blown to smithereens. but i think that this may sound curious to some of our viewers right now. but what it reminds me of now, thinking about it is charles manson. remember, charles manson also directed the massacre of about the same number of people because he wanted ignite a race war helter skelter and all the rest of that. i think that this racist this racist, this psychopath this sociopath this mass killer is like a man son in that sense. apprehended up in north carolina. it is the kind of crime that
8:49 pm
is unfortunately relatively common in the great span of american history. i lamented the one difference between here and baltimore, bill. here and charleston, south carolina. everybody white and black is on the same page. mourning together and grief stricken together. they will get through this together. >> this kind of thing happens all over the world. many times we don't hear about it places like china and russia you don't have a free media to report on it. this has happened in australia. it's happened in norway. it's a bunch of malarky to say this is an american problem. it isn't. what is an american problem though is a continuing division along racial lines which we had not made any progress on in the last 10 or 15 years. in fact, i think we are sliding back. >> i believe that the unresolved race divide in this country is the biggest
8:50 pm
domestic issue we have. and i lament that the president of the united states has not made it more of his mission to heal the divide. more of his mission to heal the divide. but this particular community, as lovely as it is is also a place that has a very troubled racial history. as you remember bill this is the scene in the 1820s of a slave revolt where the captured slaves were executed i think it was 37 of them on that same sacred ground where the mother emanuel ame church stands today. you have this history of church black church violence and then you have this this horrible horrible massacre and as he is shooting as survivor recounted to a relative as he is shooting and say i am doing this because you are raping our women and taking control of our country. this is you know to call him
8:51 pm
sick belittles the savagery the manipulation the psychotic nature of this horrible crime, bill. >> when you heard the representative say that this kid was ignited by fox news which he did, and it's a tragedy that he said that without knowing any of the facts, we don't know what this kid -- we know he's a racist. he was wearing apartheid stuff on his clothing. we know his father must have known that the kid was a racist and then he gives the kid a gun. i mean you know that's inexapplicable. when you hear people piloting the situation like representative rutherford did to punish people with whom he disagrees that's a sad fact and that also widens the racial divide in this country. >> reporter: first, let me
8:52 pm
comment on your labelling this a terrorist act. i totally agree with that characterization. this perpetrator is as much as a terrorist as the hood wearing kkk. he's a terrorist. i grant you that. as to the elected official who made that really a thoughtless comment about fox news, doesn't he see he generalizes in the same way people who smear him or what he represents his ideology his race indeed that he's being as intellectually dishonest as the people who attack him? i lament that. i saw it so often in baltimore. what the hell is that about? is that a thoughtful statement? is that to accuse a news organization made up of people with all different beliefs all different walks of life of that kind of hateful incitement to mass murder in a church? shame on him.
8:53 pm
>> it is shame on him. the only thing he's distraught because his friend was killed and i gave him an out. i gave him an out to come on and i probably should not have said that but i was distraught about the senator's death. that's why i put him on taxpayer. he doubled down on it. the haters all right, he's doing the same thing. he's doing exactly the same thing that the people that hate blacks are doing. last word. >> reporter: i lament every time either me personally or this fine news organization becomes the news and in this case so grossly unfairly. let's keep our eye on the story, a racist sociopath styling himself in the manner of the skin heads and kkk has perpetrate ad terrible crime against the most innocent nine people you can imagine. >> geraldo, factor tip of the day, how to confront this is good,
8:54 pm

sociopath spipt >> tip of the daikon fronting evil in a moment. bill enjoyed your talking points about author error of the national debt but you did not mention that under president obama the debt has risen almost as much as under all the other presidents combined. true. but the president's people say that's because mr. obama headed off a depression with all the stimulus spending he had to do it. not worth debating because all of that sim possible to prove one way or another. the key point is if america does not stop adding debt the economy will collapse. rick worcester, massachusetts. o'reilly after the crash in 2008 you apologized to us for not watching the economy closer. you've done that with the talking points. i appreciate you tracking that. we're proud of our record looking out for the folks by reporting the truth even if it upsets the establishment.

happiest. will be seeing you and miller at the hard rock hotel next move to. glad you're coming. tickets going fast. tickets are a great father's day gift. and finally tonight the factor tip of the day. confronting evil. in my life i've seen it up close and it's always one settling just like what happened today out of charleston. evil comes in many forms. the internet, the latest carrier and that's why i issue so many warnings about the net. individual evil like the man in charleston can be kept well hidden. all much us know folks we thought were good folks that turn out to be destructive. when you see evil be very cautious but don't run away. if you can alert the authorities, the cops whatever is in context, but, again, involved. don't look the other way. as edmond burke said the only
8:59 pm
thing for triumph of evil is for good men and women to do nothing. that's what happened in germany. that's what happened in japan. and could it happen in america. and that's the factor tip of the day. that is it for us tonight. please check out the fox news website and spout off. plenty of talk about tonight. o'reilly @foxnews.com. name a town if you wish to opine. word of the day, do not be a jackanapes when writing to the factor. again thanks for watching the factor. friday's factor has a "special report" on the gun situation in america. so it's friday. everybody is out. put your little recorder on there because this is going to be hot. also we'll talk about pope francis and the global warming

controversy. big show. the factor on friday. i am bill o'reilly. please always remember that the spin stops here. because we are definitely looking out for you. breaking tonight a mass murderer suspect in custody and back in south carolina after being captured 300 miles away and now a search for answers are under way following a devastating attack at a historical church that left nine people dead. welcome to "the kelly file." i'm megyn kelly. it was just about this time last night when a 21-year-old man opened fire inside the emanu ale african e african episcopal church. a group was there to study the
