fox news alert. new york law enforcement shifting their search for two convicted killers across the state. after unconfirmed sightings near the pennsylvania border, officials at a press conference saying 300 officers are combing the area after a witness spotted two men resembling david sweat and richard matt near a railroad line heading east. hello, everybody. welcome to america's news headquarters. state police also telling people be on high alert. as the manhunt focuses now on an area about 350 miles away from the maximum security prison that the two murderer escaped from more than two week as ago. david lee miller is live in amity, new york with more. >> reporter: the major in charge

thoroughly and we determine she was credible and it should be investigated. >> following the interview, authorities decided they were going to deploy about 300 local, state and federal law enforcement members into this area looking for the two fugitives. they set up a perimeter around the town of friendships. there are now check points in and out of town and they have also cleared a specific wooded area they say as the search tips continues. and as you mentioned, friendship is about 370 miles from the correctional facility from which they broke out 16 days ago. if you do the math they had to travel on average about 23 miles a day. not clear if they may have received some type of assistance assistance. >> david, thank you. the sounds of bells turning

on thursday or friday, about 80 miles east of where the press conference was held today and where this witness said she saw these two guys back on thursday or friday another witness reported seeing two men fitting the same description washingtoning along the railroad tracks. now, the police didn't company out to the public and say anything about that. well lo and behold just yesterday afternoon, right around 1:30to the public and say anything about that. well, lo and behold just yesterday afternoon, right around 1:30 another call came in. so that's where the credibility came from. >> we're looking at videotape of friendship along a railroad track. police are there because one of the witnesses says she saw two merge emerge along the railroad track. if i'm trying to get away, i'd probably try to jump a train. what about that? >> they probably have jumped a train. and that's probably i think how they were able to get so far. just as you indicated a few minutes ago, it's about 350 miles.
