8:19 am
a status others cannot compete with that. >> he delayed his announcement and was able to raise this money and talked about why certain candidates do that. he announced later that hillary clinton for example -- you say this is uncharted territory and you have context on that. >> one of the words describing this fundraising hole is it is unprecedented and it literally is. he is taking a more aggressive approach to super pac fundraising and authority than mitt romney did which for the time was something that hasn't been done. we will have to see how useful this is for jeb bush. other candidates are saying they feel confidant despite the fundraising disadvantage.
8:20 am
they see jeb bush as flaw and showing if he can raise this much money it will scare people out of the race. this hasn't happened yet. >> elizabeth let me ask you about the mitt romney effect if i can coin that. there was a comment made by jeb bush over the last 24 hours that americans need to work longer hours. he said he was talking about americans moving from part time to full time and the democrats saying he is out of touch. but that brings up mitt romney, right? two close ties to corporations, big business, little out of touch with middle class, do you think jeb bush risks going in that direction? >> i think there is definitely a risk because democrats will always paint the republican nominee as someone who is out of touch especially if it is jeb bush he will face the problems romney had being from a wealthy family and connections.
8:21 am
but i don't think the statement about the part-time work will hurt them. it is not like the 47% comment mitt romney made. he is talking about the labor participation force being low and people giving up looking but want to get back and work more. >> rebecca you say it is still on video. so it is your hunch that perhaps it might continue to come up? >> exactly. and elizabeth is absolutely right that what he said is not what he meant. he meant people are not working the hours they want to be working, and their shifts are being cut but it is on video so democrats are able to splice it into attack ads and we are seeing them take the statement and use it against jeb bush as someone who doesn't understand the plight of workers. republicans are going to need to win over americans on the economy if they are going to win. i expect we will see this in democrat attack ads. >> we are seeing dollars and

8:28 am
what are the media to do? i mean they go after a guy like trump. they quote him because he is colorful. >> and she is going to use that. she is going to use all of the things she said about mexicans and her campaign ad. she is going to focus attention on donald trump as opposed to her. she doesn't want to talk about her e-mails. she told cnn she never got a subpoena subpoena. trey gowdy said his committee sent a subpoena about the 30,000 e-mails she destroyed. there was no follow-up to the questions and she is able to do it because the rest of us are talking about donald trump. >> is the media letting her get away with stone walling? >> no but she is a difficult
