washington. five people were injured in that blast. two were taken to the hospital. nearby residents have been evacuated due to possible hazardous materials. we'll follow that story throughout the morning this morning, a manhunt is under way in st. louis still after a gunman ambushes and tries to assassinate a police officer. we first brought you that story yesterday. the sergeant was sitting in his car, working a second job, a security job overnight, when four people pulled up to him. a gunman jumped out and opened fire. the officer was shot in the torso. a bullet prove vest -- proof vest likely saved his life. the car was found and police are questioning three people. and brand-new images emerging of drug king joaquin el chapo guzman escaping.

i said that's what i'm screaming about. she pointed down and said do you think he can be fixed? she told me i was basically his caregiver. so then we -- he was diagnosed with all kinds allergies. one of them happened to be human. then he was rediagnosed as an auto immune disease. >> robin, thank you for first of all rescuing this dog. we're all dog lovers. to look at the before and after, it's remarkable you wanted to save his life. tell us about the allergy. i know -- what was your reaction when the doctor says you're not going to believe what he's allergic to? >> i thought she was kidding. i worked with this vet for a long time. you know we kid back and forth. when she told me he was allergic to people -- we had been working with him three months.

bullet proof vest he was able to go home to his family yesterday morning. this isn't like a video game. you don't get to respond. this man has a family. something tragic could have happened to him yesterday. complete lack of humanity. >> we've seen crime statistics go up since we have had the different protests around the country. why total disregard for law enforcement officers like yourself doing to keep your communities safe? >> that's a conversation that's going on nationwide. i saw boston and florida where teenagers have ability to get guns. they get those guns and target not only our community but police officers for a total disrespect for what they represent. i'm challenging like other cities how we're able to control that. missouri has liberal gun laws. 16-year-olds and 17-year-olds easy for them to get guns.
