right now following chattanooga to honor the fallen the five service members that were killed there and everyone is looking to the president to see why have they not lowered the flag to half staff. he's said to speak today in pittsburgh at the va convention there and the white house can't explain why the flags weren't lowered to half staff. this is josh earnest say he has no idea why? >> following newtown following the boston bombing, the massacre at ft. hood the president ordered flags half staff, there's questions that the white house hasn't done the same following the chattanooga shootings. >> i don't have more information about the status of the flag over the white house. >> look for him to do it today in from front of the vfw as well as talk about predatory lending. five days ft. hood, the flags were put down five days and four days after the naval ship yard

recorded by any republican candidate this year in this poll right now. it's a six fold increase before he even announced in may. the poll indicates he's doing far better among those who are not college graduates and seemingly the same between women and men. >> he's resonating people who are not billionaires. we don't know if there's any backlash to the john mccain comments because there was somewhat of a dip on sunday after those comments were made on saturday -- >> about mccain. >> about mccain, and you wonder if he's going to pay the price at the polls because he did not pay the price after his illegal immigration comments. >> i believe there's going to be a new fox poll out this week. you'll see. meanwhile, mr. trump was on with bill owe'reilly last night as we told you he would be he did say he respected john mccain but mr. o'reilly --

tragedy. that little girl who was trapped in that car, she's alive and well this morning thanks to a quick-thinking and unrelenting hero. this unbelievable video showing sarah oropeza frankically doing everything she could do to get that baby out. she's a store manager and mother of two and she was alerted by a teenage employee that works for her that the little girl was locked in the sweltering car in the parking lot with all of the windows dropped up. they called 911 and they grabbed whatever they could to break that car window. she finally broke that window to save the two-year-old girl who was literally baking in the scorching sun in nearly 100 degree temperatures. >> she was crying and she was drenched in sweat. her shoes were wet. she was so drenched and wet. i started crying.

as flash flooding hits the texas panhandle. severe storms rattling just about every nerve there. >> you got a down pour catching everyone off guard here. here in am really ribl -- amarillo, cars were submerged. >> maria is outside tracking the weather. >> it's going to be another hot one there. we could have some isolated storms in the northeast. i want to share with you the high temperatures across the country because it will be another scorcher across parts of the south and across the east coast. in new york city, you are going to climb into the 90s. 90s as well in raleigh and atlanta and dallas and delrio, they are also going to get up to 100 degrees. you start to see the heat index values climbing into triple digits. that's exactly what we're expecting later on this afternoon from texas into parts of the carolinas.

we have some heat advisories in effect excessive heat warning out there. as far as severe weather goes, we have the threat in place across the northeast mid atlantic and also in the plains. it's a relatively small risk for severe weather. just with have a way to get some warnings today. we could be looking at damaging winds and large hail from these storms. a couple of headlines to bring you. climate change is to blame for isis? at least that's according to democratic presidential candidate martin o'malley, the former governor of maryland says the terror group was created by global warming. >> one of the things was the effect of climate change and the drought. >> of course, it's drought, right now, not crazy guys who want to take over the world and
