>>er they are trained professionals standing by for that. we've got a huge show for you. we've got a big news at the top of the hour, a big tree smashes to the ground injuring eight kids just at pick up time. >> without warning this tree comes down, it happened outside pasadena park, witnesses heard it snap and saw the massive trunk come tumbling down. >> it was a lot of commotion. almost slow motion, actually, and by the grace of god nobody was under the column of that tree. because that was -- you cannot survive. >> six of the eight children injured in the freak accident were treated at then scene. two others are at the hospital in critical condition. all of them alert and able to talk. you drop your kids off at camp, you don't expect anything to happen, and you go about your

day. not in this case. >> joining us right now is the ceo michael shinklynn. it was pick up time yesterday about 5:00 pacific. what happened? >> well, so we had -- i was alerted that there was an accident at the museum. someone said a tree had fallen over. you don't think a massive 75-foot tree, but i went out to the front of the museum and witnessed this tree that had fallen. immediately, we put into place our emergency response team and just got people very focused on what we needed to do to get the kids accounted for and get the children safe. we were able to do a headcount. we realized that all the children had been accounted for. we removed them from the area to get them as far away as possible. one, they didn't have to see it

any longer and two knew they will be safe. there were two children on the ground at that point being administered to with first aid and i have to give credit to the city of pasadena first responders, they came so quickly and were able to come in and help those children out. you don't expect this to happen. but i'm proud of the kid space team, we pulled together to get the kids safe. >> and sometimes when things like this happen, you look at the tree, wow, you think this tree was dead, this tree did not look like it was dead. any idea why it happened? >> i'm not an arborist. the tree looked healthy to me. it was completely unexpected from my vantage point. i'm not a professional in that realm but i walk by it every day going to work, and the tree looked healthy so it was completely unexpected. >> based on that one lady's sound bite, it sounds like they were trapped under the branches,

not under the trunk, the physical trunk of that tree where it could have been a lot worse. how are the families reacting to these eight children that have been injured? >> well, you know, kid space community, you know, we have some wonderful folks that are involved in the program, and, you know, i think everybody was grateful that -- with our staff, we train for emergency procedures and of course no one ever expected something like this to happen, but the feedback that i received was very positive from the families, saying they appreciated that, you know, we were methodical in our approaches, putting the safety of the children first and it's heart-breaking, we're asking the community to rally around these kids who are still in the hospital and meet their needs and just do all we can to support them. today, at the museum, we will be opened. we will have some crisis counsellors available. any of the staff need to talk about it or any of the kids who

safely. a routine test drive turns into terror after a man kidnaps a salesman and takes him on a high-speed chase. the would-be car thief took a van out for a spin and he threatened the salesman and drove off. the salesman was able to jump out and call police. the driver totaled the van two towns over. it was easy to find. police tracked it with on star. the patriots likely to head to kort. the nfl says that brady ordered an assistant of his to destroy a cell phone less than 24 hours before his meeting with investigators in march. it had nearly 10,000 text messages, but the league had requested for its investigation on that matter. brady's agent says -- his name is done database don -- don yee.

go play. get out there and you'll have a good time. >> carli, for you personally, if you weren't the number one pick, the fact that kentucky was coming after you what is that like? do you have that in perspective? >> for me, it didn't matter if it was kentucky, if it was anywhere, any college, as long as i was able to get a free education. sports teaches you so much fundamentals and teaches you so much foundation for your life that without sports i don't know where i could have been at. >> are any of you concerned about at how much sports is costing level today? >> we've got many problems. football is the port i can talk about the most i've seen it up close. you've got to pay for helmets, shoulder pads, and insurance and now you got to pay to play as a young high school kid. if you are from a challenged economic background, you can't play football. >> you play sports. in soccer you are not guaranteed fame and fortune.

>> there's so many talented kids out there and in the soccer world it's more passionate talented kids don't come from a lot of money. it's just sad, and i think that, you know, it kind of needs to be changed. these kids that can't afford things need to be able to get the opportunities. >> i think it's significant. jen welter is a 14-year female football player that will now be assistant linebacker coach with the arizona cardinals this year. will a female coach get the respect for the first time ever of nfl players? >> i think so. i think she knows her stuff. the players will tell you if they think that coach can help them, they will give them their respect. >> let me give you my perspective from the locker room. we don't like coaches who don't know their stuff or haven't played the sport. because she's played the sport -- >> 14 years. >> she's already ahead of the

turning over emails. the state department says we might have something in there. as of now, nothing, and that is possibly why her campaign is reeling. hey, heather. she's inside with other headlines. it is a fox news alert, breaking news at this hour from overseas. there are reports that the leader of the afghan taliban, mula omar is dead. many of our viewers will recall this guy. he is the within-eyed terror leader in afghanistan who led the taliban and sheltered osama bin laden during the 9/11 attacks. he has been dead for some time, since 2013. that same paper reports that sources inside the afghan government have confirmed that news that omar died two years ago from tuberculosis. the afghan government is investigating those reports. we do not have it independently confirmed here in the united

states just yet, but we will bring you that information as we get it. also coming in at this time, the minnesota dentist now at the center of an international controversy for killing one of africa's most famous lions, walter palmer is his name and he's in hiding death threats pouring in after it was revealed he shot cecil the lion with a bow and arrow. cecil was a protected animal. the hunting guides are facing poaching charges and authorities in zimbabwe where this took place are searching for the
