there's only one missing aircraft in the world and that's malaysia 370. this is probably from that aircraft, but they haven't made that final determination next. as far as where it's found, on the island of reunion, off the coast of africa. that's about 1300 miles away from where it disappeared from kuala lumpur. but the current of the ocean goes counterclockwise, so this is consistent on where they think this wreckage should be. it's going to provide limited use in tracing it back, but nevertheless, this is an important piece of evidence. >> we've had sources inside of boeing where they were frantically looking at these pieces of this and comparing it against the seats and they confirmed this is a 777 but until they get to the aircraft and the individual markings, they can't make that

determination. >> they found some of the markings on this piece of debris. it will take engineers some time to figure out if it came from that. it does not appear to be terribly mangled which will tell you something about the way the aircraft entered the water. this will not change the actual search area. remember, the search has been ongoing for the past year and a half. they really haven't let up. they continue to search the indian ocean for the actual aircraft but this is an important find. >> boeing has only lost five 777s since it was introduced in 1995. they know where four of the sites, were and this particular flight is the only one lost over water. if that is part of a 777, that's it definitely -- >> and 270 passengers along with

after nearly three hours. about two months ago you may recall there was a nearby broken pipeline that spilled 21,000 gallons of crude oil into the ocean. well, 16 gop presidential candidate, we've got good news four. the former virginia governor jim gilmore filing paperwork to make him the 17th person for the nomination. gilmore was governor from 1998 to 2002 and considered a prominent figure in the aftermath of 9/11. he, we understand, may be making an official announcement next week. and this man went above and beyond the call of duty. a police officer bathes a baby who was choking on a coin. and the whole thing caught on his body camera. the officer patrick ray jumping into action to help 22-month-old when she stopped breath able to airway and save her life.

family's house, and after that, what happened? >> well, exactly what you said. i introduced muced him to the dp and welcomed him there. and copied his driver's license. then we went in a test drive in a cadillac at first. came straight back to the dealership. and then we went on a second test drive. and he said that was the car he was actually more interested in for his family which was the $75,000 conversion van. and we got to his house, i showed his whole family the car and everything. and as soon as he left his house, we hopped on the freeway and started heading back towards the dealership. and i'm like, why are we going on the freeway? he looked over at me and told me this was a robbery. i kind of like shrugged him off at first because i thought he was just joking at me. then when he seen like i kind of thought i was joking. he like grabbed me by my shirt

right here. and pushed me into the window and pulled me back and then ripped my whole shirt down. >> he wasn't joking? >> at that point, i knew he wasn't joking around. i started to get really startled. right when he had grabbed me, the car started swerving and he had was doing like 90 miles per hour on the freeway and he actually crashed into the car next to us. that car swerved out and stopped. that kind of stopped traffic on the freeway. and he just kept going. and i was just like holding on to my life basically. and sii thought about trying to save myself at that point but i didn't want to cause us to crash and get like into a really bad accident so -- >> how did you get out? how are you here today talking about this? this could have ended differently. how did you escape that car? >> well, like i said, i was startled, so, i started just thinking about what i can do.

he got off the freeway right after that crash into the car and kept going and got off the freeway. then he looked over, and he could tell i was being like really nervous or whatever. he said that like i was acting really nervous and he wasn't going to be able to let me go. i was just waiting until he was going to come to a stop so i could hop out. but he kept running like red lights. he eventually came to a stop. i knew that was a chance right there. i really quickly opened the door and hopped out and ran to the corner and i called my boss paul rogers. >> and of course, because you had photocopied his i.d., they knew how the guy was. going forward, are you going to, christopher, every time you take somebody on a test drive, are you going to think to yourself, i wonder how this is going to end? >> well, i was actually at work

let's go ahead and talk about the weather maps because we have extreme heat that continues across the plains. we're seeing the temperatures in the triple digits, also into the 90s, widespread across the plains. and across the eastern u.s. and now the pacific northwest is also heating up. we're going to see the temperatures in the 90s and 100s across parts of that region. otherwise as it moves towards the eastern u.s., we are seeing threats for forms in the gulf coast to the northeast. with the storms behind it, you're not only getting a cooldown, but the humidity will be lower. so it's going to feel a lot nicer in parts of the midwest and eventually the northeast. back to you, guys. >> maria, if you don't mind, could you bring one of those pieces of red velvet in for me? >> sounds good. >> thank you very much. all right. meanwhile, straight ahead, changing gears, the big game hunting dentist getting death threats around the planet for

sick as a dog, no joke. pet owners on edge this morning because of the dog flu. it's rearing its ugly head again. >> joinings from chicago, wfld recorder. welcome this morning. this is awful for pups out there. what do we know? >> reporter: i've got a dog here that had the influenza in march. this dog was in the hospital five days after he was boarded and got it. it's contagious. here at this petsmart, they had one case confirmed. here the in chicago, last spring there was about 1,000. pet owners lost their beloved pets. this is the kind of thing that can spread fast. this is what you need to be aware of.

veteran suicides a year. by one count, 22 veterans kill themselves every day. 20% of the 2 million or so iraq or afghanistan veterans have ptsd. 7% have brain injury and post-traumatic syndrome. this is not a joking matter especially for a doctor that takes oath and says do no harm. the doctor's judgment has to be judged against the body of his work. is he a good psychiatrist? has he been passionate to veterans? has he made an obvious mistake? in the past, they've been slow and act against people of fraud and misconductall crimes.
