parenthood. should the government shut them down and defund the group and why are republicans incabpable f getting that daone? we are two days away from the republican debate that will air here on the fox news channel. and carl cameron has the latest. now we know who they are. >> it's been weeks of speculation and bare knuckle sk scrambling. there's no surprise for some candidates. donald trump has been leading the polls for a couple of weeks. jeb bush and scott walker, are the only other candidates who have been consistently in double digits. walker has slipped a bit in some recent polls. mike huckabee and ben carson have been steadily in the middle of the top ten. often even tied. usually just right over about halfway, six, seven points a piece. ted cruz, marco rubio, rand paul, and chris christie, have

been shifting around in the single digits. now we know the tenth slot. there's been a battle for this. it goes to john kasich. a lot of these candidates are virtually tied with one another given the polls' margins of error. kasich announced three weeks ago tonight. he shot from the back of the pack to the top ten. the debate of his home state of ohio. he could have a good cheering section. donald trump is not only leading national polls. he's ahead in new hampshire and south carolina. voters in those states have been paying more attention than the rest of the country, shep -- sean. >> step, sehep, sean. same thing. >> they have different sort of superstitions as well as practice strategies. bush aides say he has been

intensively looking at the homework. the other guy, donald trump folks, say he's pretty much going to wing it. for those taking part in the 5:00 p.m. debate on thursday, there could be several up sides. millions will watch. some of them might be referenced in the evening debate or reaired in primetime. for carly fiorina the only woman in the gop field, she's going to make news on her own. rick santorum and rick perry came up short in 2012. they have a lot to prove. you have bobby jindal and lindsey graham, they've been working hard and are capable of making news. face it, donald trump will not be in the 5:00 p.m. event they don't have to worry about getting overshadowed by him. >> carl cameron on the campaign trail. thanks carl. joining us now peter johnson jr., the co-host of out numbered

and michael cohen is with us. here are the numbers, latest four polls, 26% trump, 26% trump. 24% trump. 21% trump. that was the bloomberg poll i don't think bloomberg likes him. those are significant numbers. >> center stage is where he belongs. >> what about donald trump, he made comments on "fox and friends" about it's good to be a little nervous. he's not used to debating, he's not a politician. are we to interpret that that he's not preparing? >> absolutely not. donald trump has been preparing for this his whole life. he's an avid reader. he studies everything. he's not going in with the strategy that the other republicans are. they're coming in with scripted answers he'll be himself. being himself is what has given him the poll numbers. that's what people want to see. >> authenticity.

my prediction. everyone will watch because of trump. which trump will show up? the trump that has been attacking some of his republican opponents or a donald trump talking about substance, maybe being more presidential? here's how he attacked some of the candidates leading up to thursday's debate. >> they don't even like him. they're from south carolina, he's from south carolina. they don't like him. >> marco rubio. >> i think he's an overrated guy. i think that i have much better hair than he does. >> rick perry. he did a lousy job on the border. when he was governor, what a horrible job he did. worse than him is jeb bush. jeb bush is a disaster in so many different ways. >> carly fiorina. >> i don't know her i never met her. she looks very nice. but she got fired viciously. i don't mean like a little bit. business is my game. >> would that be smart in this debate andrea? >> i think it would be very foolish for donald trump to change who he is at this point because it's not believable. he's winning because he's

strategy in that environment. >> he has to be both. he has to show people who he is. he is a thoughtful guy that has a lot of ideas. and if you look at him in long forms, he's exposed a lot of those ideas. he does need to be presidential and talk about policies and programs. and a trump vision for america. >> what are the other candidates do? how do they deal with this? if you attack trump -- >> let me give you the answer. they sit there and listen because trump is presidential. he's presidential. he is the look. he is the intelligence. he has the thought process in terms of what's needed to make america great again. that's what you said, though. he is presidential. and what he's going to do is he's going to -- he appeals to middle america. he's going to show -- >> what if he goes after -- >> absolutely not. if they come after him, it's going to be lights out. it's totally fair game.

live from "america's news hq" i'm jackie ibanez a massive wildfire in northern california showing no signs of slowing down. it spread after jumping a highway. it's destroyed 50 buildings near clear lake and is threatening 7,000 more. the fire which is the largest in northern claf has burned 65,000 acres. the gun fire came from a road near camp shelby but not on military property. authorities are searching for two men who they say fired at soldierers from a red ford ranger which police found. the mississippi national guard said the training center is secure tonight. no service members were hurt. i'm jackie ibanez now back to "hannity." ♪

welcome back. we're two days away from the first republican presidential debate. one of the topics certain to take center stage is immigration. donald trump has made this a big issue and talking point on the campaign trail. here are some of the comments he's made since launching his presidential bid. >> when mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. they're not sending you. they're not sending you. they're sending people that have lots of problems. they're bringing drugs. they're bringing crime. they're rapists. al and some, i assume, are good people. i've been told by so many hispanics, mr. trump thank you you've done the right thing. i'm from a country. hispanics, i'm from such and such a country. we don't want illegals coming in. i love mexico. i tell everybody. and i love the mexican people. i've said it 100 times. nobody says it or reports it, that's the problem. i love the mexican people.

i love the spirit of the mexican people. there's a huge problem with the illegals coming through. in this section it's a problem. in some sections it's a massive problem. you have to create, you have to make the people that come in, they have to be legal. very simple. >> last night, c span voters first forum which donald trump did not attend some of the 2016 republican candidates were asked about their stance on immigration. let's take a look. >> the issue for us in this country today is what's happening all across our great land and that is the cost that illegal immigration is having on this state. and until we get that border secure, it's not going to stop. it's like a serious wound. you want to staunch the flow. and that's not what's happening. >> i don't think this administration is serious about border security or protecting working men and women. 35 million people have come into this country lislely and illegally. that can be a good or bad thing.

why so important? >> because it decides every other issue. listening to the candidates, i see why trump is dominating the polls. we've heard this for 30 years from politicians. americans keep telling pollsters we want less immigration. no imbrasimigration. do something. they always talk about securing the border when they need our vote. and then rick perry passed in state tuition for illegals and says you don't have a heart if you disagree. chris christie. marco rubio runs against ammidwesty. when he was running in florida, he spent three years pushing amnesty. jeb bush is calling it an act of love. when they want our votes it's the way they take. trump looks like he means it and could do something about it. the republican party, they act like dave brat never happened. he didn't take out eric cantor. you have all the elites aligned

seems in sincere to the other candidates. he's checking notes. he doesn't seem like he's got a belly full of fire. >> i don't feel he's engaged. i think a bush clinton ticket is just more of the same. >> i don't think that he deserves the criticism he's receiving. if you look at his record he has been conservative. he's not inspiring. >> he's a poster child for the establishment candidate. i'm tired of the establishment. >> here with analysis the man behind the focus group, pollster frank lunts. that was harsh. >> yeah. anyone, if you're labelled establishment, it's even worse than being labelled a moderate these days. they want something who they choose and they don't want to feel like the choice is foisted on them. the second aspect of jeb bush, they liked him as a person. but they do like him as a person. they're not convinced he's tough enough. that's what they're looking for. someone who will take it to hillary clinton in the fall.

hear and disregards the rest. it's about tone and trump being aggressive and a fighter. to them they equate that with conservatism. >> you know what's interesting? if you look at governor bush's record it was conservative as governor. the issues of immigration and common core cut so deep, plus coupled with his last name, obviously, those are the three issues he's struggling with in all of this. let me go. there was mixed reaction to senator ted cruz. he's been out spoken and bold and took on his own party and asked them to repeal obamacare. they abandoned him. let's go to that tape. >> i don't find anything favorable about him. what i find him is as a first term u.s. senator running for president. we went through that process eight years ago look at what we got. >> do you think ted cruz is the same guy as barack obama? >> no. no. >> i think -- >> constitutional conservative. he has a proven record that we

can vet and he is a wonderful communicator. we haven't had one of those since ronald reagan. >> he stood up in the floor of the senate and caused a government shutdown. we did not need that. >> he's one of the few senators that went to washington to fight obamacare. he's doing it. the rest surrendered. >> i like that he's so principled. i worry about him worth ing with democrats. >> i don't care. >> you don't care? >> it's not necessarily a big deal. >> he knows he's not well-liked in washington but he's willing to speak up. because of what they did they won more seats in 2014. >> i think that last -- she's right. because he took a stand, that's why people like him. >> that's why people like him. the challenge for ted cruz is not just to demonstrate he's smart. everyone knows it or he's conservative. every republican knows it. he has to demonstrate he can defeat hillary clinton be being principled focused and intense.
