tv   Outnumbered  FOX News  August 11, 2015 9:00am-10:01am PDT

9:00 am
since the death of michael brown. the city has seen a lot of trouble with things remaining uneasy over the past few days to say the least. this is "outnumbered." i am harris faulkner. here is andrea tantaros, sandra smith, host of kennedy, kennedy herself and the oneluckyguy bernard mcguirk. he is outnumbered. >> thank you. it is an honor to be here. to foul follow a man like general jack keane, a man with so much wisdom. >> you have wisdom. don't undersell yourself. >> it is wisdom week here. >> you are generally a pain in the tush so all generals here. >> we have a lot of news. >> let's do it up. >> police have arrested dozen of
9:01 am
people over the past few days that have turned violent inside the this protest that were peaceful for the most of the time. demonstrators blocked an interstate just as the evening rush hour in st. louis started. will car is live in ferguson covering the latest. will? >> reporter: there is still a heavy police presence throughout ferguson today. we are still in the state of emergency after protesters clashed with the authorities for the last two nights. there were tense moments happening after 10 p.m. last night when some protesters started throwing rocks and frozen water bottles and chunks of asphalt. 23 people were arrested. listen to one protester explain why she was in the street last night. >> why are you out here? why are we back with the unrest?
9:02 am
>> we want to see the change. we want police and court reform. >> reporter: earlier in the day, 60 people were arrested for protesting on i-70 during rush hour. they blocked cars with barricades. there were a large number of protesters arrested for swarming the court house yesterday. michael brown's father took to facebook and issued a statement, i am quoting, our marches were done peacefully so be careful, mindful and protect yourselves from those who would like to see this be unsuccessful. he learned tyrone harris is now facing ten charges. he is in critical condition at a local hospital. good news is no shots fired or looters out there or injuries last night. residents hope that will continue into tonight. harris, all they can do now is
9:03 am
hang in there. >> this is tough for the businesses and schools. we hope it stays peaceful so people can go on with their lives. and donald trump is not backing down. refusing to rule out a third party run if he fails to cinch the republican nomination. in an interview on fox and friends the gop frontrunner refuting the report from abc saying he is ready to take the pledge not to run as an independent candidate. >> we will keep the door open. that was a false report but out by abc. i want to run as a republican but keep the door open in case i am not treated fairly. >> the longer donald trump refuses to sign the pledge does it hurt his support among the republic republic republicans. i think it might. what do you think? >> he is being smart. he is not being one of the
9:04 am
stupid people he talks about. there are 15 states that that can bar him from participating in the primary and they can do it arbitrarily and that is how he is seeing it unfairly. he will be in the primaries. that is why is broke the art of the deal. >> you have to admit, a third party run would guarantee a clinton victory. >> absolutely right. >> everybody in the base knows that and that thought makes we want to puke. >> i don't think he would do it. >> you think he would do it, kennedy? >> i absolutely do. i think there is a reason he is not taking the pledge. he doesn't want to just appeal to republican voters. we want to appeal to a bigger vote including independent voters that actually make up a much larger piece of the demographic voting pie. >> maybe voters like him even. he used to be a democrat.
9:05 am
whatever it took to get him to jump ship and join the other party he might be speaking trect directly to those people and they are not necessarily identifying as independents. >> whether or not he signs the pledge, as a conservative what bugs me, is we are sitting around talking about pledges and we were talking about a pipeline. the republican party can't build a party around a pledge and a pipeline. it is a profound distraction from what the party stands for. >> i want to get your tick, andrea. i am sure donald trump and his team are looking at the recent polling. in a recent nbc poll they asked a direct question: if donald trump doesn't win the republican nomination and runs as an independent candidate whom would you vote for? 54% said they would stick with trump and vote for him as an apt candidate. does that tell you anything?
9:06 am
does that change your mind? >> there is no question. take the remarks, anything donald trump has ever said, bernie, off the table. he is tapping on frustration from a base who wants to fight, talk about the issues and is sick and tired of loosing and sick and tired of the establishment. you still see him strong. this is why the whole pledge debate is stupid. it distracts from the main issues. remember when rick challenged hillary clinton to sign a pledge? that didn't work out well. enough with the pledges. >> he is not bringing up the pledge. it is other people bringing it up. he is saying i am not making the pledge and let's move on. he said also only if he is not treated fairly. >> he is talking about other districting things. can we get back to the issues. >> i am on the trump train at the moment. i am not happy with some of thetthe
9:07 am
things he said but he is smart. >> i am sure he is about people like you. i know a lot of rational, passionate people who are seeing something in him they have never seen in any mainstream candidate so what could it take to knock you off the train. >> probably a sex tape? >> i don't think he's getting off the train we are a nation od we are not going to be fighting wars for people that hate us, allowing people in here illegally and i am all for illegal -- legal immigration. >> this question is so important for other candidates to be asking. if you are going up against a guy like donald trump you might want to know what it takes to get voters on your side. >> he said we will attack isis, the oil fields and build a wall of fire and take the oil for
9:08 am
ourselves. it is that type of blunt talk, put america first, people like >> so far he said you have to cut them off with the oil surprise but didn't say how. >> he said he would put troops on the ground, circle the oil, and take the oil for this country. rick perry reportedly dealing with big money problems. according to cbs news perry's team stopped paying all of his staffers including those in his austin head quarters after his campaign admitteded that quote money is extremely tight. moving forward he said the only expenses are for travel. this campaign releasing a statement saying in part quote tough decisions have to be made in respect to monetary and time related resources.
9:09 am
he will continue to have a presence in iowa, new hampshire and south carolina. a super pac supporting perry brushing off the concerns sending out this tweet. we have plenty of money and the super back is not going to let rick perry down. in the 2nd quarter, which is april-june, his campaign raised just $1.14 million compared with bush in the same time period raised over $11 million. >> you don't have to compare that to anybody. that is poor on its own. and probably the most troubling and telling thing that jeff miller, the perry campaign manager said, was to his employees on friday was you can begin to look for other jobs. i greenlight the effort for you to go out and find other employment. that means they fully anticipate, in my estimation, that the pay checks are part of the things outside of the travelling expenses that will drive up. >> is this the beginning of the
9:10 am
end for rick perry's campaign? >> grab the fork and stick it in. it is done. i have been on campaigns where the checks stop flowing and they tell you to look for other jobs and that means he is finished. he didn't build a compelling case last time around. i think it was naive this time around. i like him personally, i think a lot of people do. he has a respectable record in texas with what he did with the economy. but he could not do it last time around. this time around he wasn't strong in debates. but follow the money. when the money runs out you be -- you know it is over. >> if you are a donor you have to dig him out of the hole before you see any benefit. >> this is not a campaign that believes in itsse itself and noa
9:11 am
candidate that believes he will make to the primary. you can read between the lines when they are saying find jobs elsewhere it is absolutely done. >> the only call in '07 mccain had the same problem. he stopped paying his people and ran out of money and ended up bogue the nominee. having said that about rick, flew a c-130 in the air force so he is no dummy. >> everybody else employeiempli this isn't the case. sfwl >> where do the people go that
9:12 am
support him? >> they go to the governors. walker or kasich? >> it isn't over yet. >> the moderate governors. >> this is like survivor. people are going to be voted off the island and this may be the 1st. he didn't have immunity. just $14 million for the entire election cycle. all right. >> he is a smart guy. flew a c-130 and did a good job in texas. >> people of that state love him. >> a possible setback for the
9:13 am
obama's administration plan to close gitmo. where the detainees will not be going with the prison is shutdown and whether they should be brought to the united states at all. plus this: >> every politician who is involved in this will be held accountable. they will have blood on their hands. >> veterans launching a new campaign to stop the nuclear deal with iran. the impact this could have and why this makes the president's sales job a lot harder. and right here after the show catch more from the coach on the web by logging on to our website and tweet us comments and what you want to talk about. we are here and listening.
9:14 am
why do so many people choose aleve?
9:15 am
it's the brand more doctors recommend for minor arthritis pain. plus, just two aleve can last all day. you'd need 6 tylenol arthritis to do that. aleve. all day strong. thankshow may i help you?s list. i heard i could call angie's list if i needed work done around my house at a fair price. you heard right, just tell us what you need done and we'll find a top rated provider to take care of it. so i could get a faulty light switch fixed? yup! or have a guy refinish my floors? absolutely! or send someone out to groom my pookie? pookie's what you call your? my dog. yes, we can do that. real help from real people. come see what the new angie's list can do for you.

when you're living with diabetes, steady is exciting. only glucerna has carbsteady, clinically proven to help minimize blood sugar spikes. so you stay steady ahead.
9:17 am
you are watching "outnumbered" and we are glad you are. a possible setback for the obama administration that is trying to keep the promise to close
9:18 am
guantanamo bay in cuba. some of the 116 detainees left would have to be brought to the united states for trial or indefini indefinite sentencing. a top secure prison in illinois was being considered but it is off the list. there is a facility in charleston, south carolina that could be an option. bernie, there is never a friend to take your detainee from gitmo. what happened to the countries that were going to help us out? >> you cannot trust anybody. you don't have friends. listen, the motivation for closing this place because we are worried about what people think about us. forget about what people think. the hell with them. if we have to close it, you can put them on alcatraz and the rocks. we could find a spot.
9:19 am
but the recidivism rate is so high. you cannot let them go into the other countries because they will find their way back to the battlefield. i don't understand why it is a high priority. >> the people you say would be holding support of this, maybe, you are also considering democrats where the president made a promise. this is part of his legacy, isn't it? >> that is one of the first promises he made when he ascended to the office of the presidency; he was going to close guantanamo bay. it has proved almost impossible. there is a new block aid every time they turn around. close it down, bring the people -- >> where. >> that prison in illinois doesn't want them. >> i get it. people don't want perceived terrorist in their backyard.
9:20 am
i understand that but we have terrorist in the country already. >> i can tell you that because when they were building the prison and they were getting funding for the prison one of the things that eric holder promised would not happen would be the detainees would go from gitmo and that is how they were able to put the deal together. >> and i will tell you why. congressional democrats put a block to it. when president obama said i am going to close gitmo and move the prisoners to your backyard, in federal prison, it was the congressional democrats with the largest mega phones that stood up and said no way, not in my backyard because their voters were not having it. they didn't want to go home to their districts and defend that decision. what happened? they decided to put a block on federal monies that would transfer the detainees to places like illinois where it was a huge controversy. they said no-go. it is a very controversial
9:21 am
issue. >> so republican chairman -- >> republican chairman of the armed service committee, senator john mccain, is said to have given tentive support to something that could be cobbled together. what would that look like? >> i have no idea. my fear is they will say don't keep them in the united states. let's send them to friends in qutar >> yemen is a great place. it is stable. >> you are being facetious. >> of course. >> what happens to the president's legacy if he doesn't get this done >> >> i don't think much. i think it will be glossed over. and who cares if they are in your backyard? they would not escape. >> remember the two guys in upstate new york? >> two guys out of hundreds of
9:22 am
thousands of people in the community. >> the fear is if given to another country, this administration says we can trust they will keep a close eye on them. that would be the worst case scenario. the best case scenario is the president says we will keep gitmo open or says nothing and leaves it open >> i think he is going to wait it out like he is with isis until he leaves. >> you will have to guarantee any facility that president obama choses in this country is safer than guantanamo bay? >> i have one. i have like somewhere in i don't know if there is a supermax facility in texas but i know if you try people and find they are guilty of treason and murder you can put them to death and that is a lot less expensive than $900,000 a year. >> the gop wants gitmo open. but remember what the president has done. he has released some of the most high level offenders. that is why the bowe bergdahl deal was a big deal.
9:23 am
he let five high level terrorist go so he can say all of the bad ones are gone. the ones left are low level offenders and let's put them in prison across the united states or the naval facilities. he did this to get rid of the really bad guys so he can say the rest are not big deal, don't sweat it. >> we know they have been talking to friends on the outside. they have been surveilling these guys. >> we don't know how many they are talking about sending. a couple dozen? >> in a state correctional facility and put them out in the population and see what happens. people get jeffrey domered. >> the worry is maybe they have been in custody for so long they are convincing and radicalize the prison converts. >> put a bracelet on them, a homing device, release them and
9:24 am
the moment we do drone them. >> or follow them to the nest of wherever they are going and drop it. >> there is a naval facility in south carolina that is on this list. we need to see what else is on the list to see what the facilities would look like. >> lots of questions. >> put them in rickers island. it is disgusting. >> and wrap it in bacon. a group of iraq war veterans is taking on president obama in a new national ad campaign asking congress to oppose his recent iran nuclear deal. this as new poll shows democrats are unsure or flat out rejecting the nuclear deal. did the president's sales job just get harder? and a new poll showing voters wouldn't vote for obama on a third term and what this means
9:25 am
for hillary clinton who spot supports many of hus policies and has been accused of running for his third term? stay close.

9:29 am
>> i was blown up by an iranian bomb it cut me in the half through the temple and down my job. it took my legs off and total devastation. that day is imprinted in my brain forever. >> that is a clip from a new campaign featuring u.s. veterans who oppose the nuclear deal with iran. it is created by the group vets against the agreement and will run in states with members of congress who are undecided on the deal.
9:30 am
lawmakers are expected to vote on it. the iraq vet and former intelligence advisor to patreus spoke to fox and friends. >> our veterans are trained to prevent wars and win wars as well. this deal just gives the enemy going back 35 years more money, more arms. >> all of this comes as even democrats appear to be having second thoughts according to a new university poll. only 41% of democrats think they should approve the deal and 45% is not sure. bernie, the president said republicans disagreeing with the deal are hardliners. does that make the democrats as well? >> i think he counted the votes and made the decision on what is
9:31 am
best for him politically at home and becoming sena atate minorit leader. the president said this is a choice between diplomacy and war and we should not make the decision based on war. i have not read the deal and don't know enough about it. it should be assessed in a sober man not emotionally. he was blown up by shiite militia that was aligned with the government we helped install. that is how sick and crazy things are over there. >> it is sick, crazy and convoluted. who knows what will happen in the middle east. it is interesting you have a group of people deeply invested, emotionally or otherwise, who know oppose the deal. >> i spoke with a veteran telling stories and a lot of
9:32 am
weapons were used to kill the guys and blow up the guys were from iran. iran gave refuge to the people we were fighting and released them over the border to fight our men and women. these soldiers feel passionate about this. iran is an enemy and responsible for u.s. deaths. but a great point you bring up kennedy, there is a lot of ethnic hatred and tribal wars. and it is why i say we make the case and figure whut what to to. >> schumer doesn't want to be part of the deal not because of the nuclear aspect but the non-nuclear aspect and what happens when the sanctions are lifted and you have the tens of billions flowing in the iran. the point this veteran was making is where is noney going? >> or the ballistic missile
9:33 am
system they will get over the years. that puts all of europe, particularly israel, even more so as a target. you know what is a companion to the story? the federal lawsuit who were hit in israel and terror attacks by ir iran-backed terrorist have filled in the last few days. this deal puts the money out. the $150 billion and where you said some of that will be unfrozen oil assets and instead of going to the victims of iran's terrorist hits what these victims are saying is we are not going to get to see the settlements out. we asked on the couch yesterday what is it going to take to alert the american people who will waken them to some of things in the deal whether they like it or not which side they will fall on. this sort of ad campaign wakes people up. they will become more educated about this. >> what happens if congress isn't able to override the veto? what happens then?
9:34 am
you have people like charles schumer and steve israel and congressional democrats -- >> general dempsey answered hat and put a number to it saying iran was directly responsible for the deaths of at least 500 american service members during the iraq war. he said specifically at least some of the cash of this hundred plus billion in frozen assets is going to be used to fund violence in places like iraq, syria, yemen and lebanon. he was clear on the freed up cash and the threat it poses to countries >> you said it wasn't even just that money but it will allow them to sell their oil which is going to add influx of millions. >> that is a done deal. >> if they do override the veto, what happens then?
9:35 am
what happens if congress says no and puts the deal off. what happens to that money? >> i don't know. >> people are told there is only one option. >> it is the p-plus-5 counties. iran does business with the rest of the world. the oil flows. this is a done deal whether or not we lift our sanctions. >> aren't we seeing reverb from the potential of this oil coming out? i was reading they are putting brakes on the oil releases for fear of flooding the market. it will hurt us eventually. >> we are not developing anything back here at home. not nuclear energy or other alternative forces. letting the private sector do it. and there has been potential jobs lost because of it. >> clearly we need nuclear powered flying cars. president obama said recently if he could run for a third time he could win. that put to a test and what it
9:36 am
could mean for hillary clinton and the democrats in 2016. stay right here.

welcome back to "outnumbered." something president obama said recently is now being put to the test. watch: >> i actually think i am a pretty good president. i think i ran i could win. but i can't. >> if that actually happened it looks like mr. obama may not do so well after all. a new poll is finding 26% of voters would be willing to give him four more years and 68% said they would vote for half. nearly half of democrats say the same. that is raising questions about hillary clinton's chances in 2016 considering she supports many of her former boss' policy
9:41 am
and some claim she is running for a third obama term. andrea, going to you on this one dpirs first. >> when the president said he can't run, but would win, but we can't. he really couldn't win and that poll reflects that. hillary clinton has got to endorse a third term of obama. i really do think there is no way as secretary of state to scoot around this. in a general, she will triangulate but she can not escape it. she is like the old broken record and we know the songs and no one wants to get off their chairs and get on the floor and dance to hillary clinton's tune. it is a huge problem and most democrats -- >> you are laughing at me.
9:42 am
>> there was one area i was seeing if she would distance herself from the president and that is the keystone pipeline. >> that and trade. she is creating the ground swell when obama opposed her eight years ago. it has to give her the willies and vapors. what a toxic combination. she can barely shove 5,000 on to an island for her campaign relaunch. i don't know if we will be talking about the president's third term via hillary clinton because bernie sanders starts making headway in places other than new hampshire she may have a problem. >> you have a nut case like bernie sanders who is posing a threat to her. where is the cries that bernie sanders, joe biden, and even
