>> clayton, first, good morning. there has to be atmosphere of safety the for parishioners. when they don't feel safe and that being in mind, we have to keep in mind that everybody who has a concealed weapon permit or a gun the doesn't know how to use it in certain scenarios. the key is having people know how to handle situations. it welcomes a safer place for people wanting to defend for themselves. >> why did you select these specific ten members? >> we have not selected the ten as of yet. we're in the process. we're in talks with local law enforcement on the best ways to do it. it's a lot of questions to be

search and rescue teams saying the weather is very bad in the mountainous area where the plane was last heard from. an 18-day manhunt comes to an end over night in california after official say the suspect has been shot and killed. two deputies attempted to stop 34-year-old benjamin ashley when they spotted him on a roadway. he pulled out a gun and that's when the deputies opened fire, killing him. ashley was suspected was killing a retire dentist, taking three men hostage and shooting two deputies. he will be officially identified tomorrow. and cruise ship, workers feared dead after falling overboard off the coast of canada. the search was just called off. rescuers saying there is little hope he could still be found alive in the water. the cruiseline did not give details how the worker ended up

hillary clinton could very well get a pass on using a private email server during her time as secretary of state, but a highly decorated marine veteran could be forced out over an email. jason bresler faces a honorable discharge for sending an email

warning warning. one of the slain marines's father filed a lawsuit. he and his attorney, michael bowey join us now. >> please explain exactly what happened. jason bresler, a hero, finds out while he's back stateside that a really bad guy is threatening american troops. he has a file on his laptop about that guy with some background information and he sends it off. then what happens. >> well, he gets a request, he request of marines who are concerned about this police chief but don't know everything they need to know about him, if he could please send whatever information they have immediately. he does it. he does it spontaneously because he knows about this person from his deployment two years previously. this person poses an imminent threat to marine personnel

there. he sends that email. that warning is then ignored. two weeks later, one of the people in that police chief's entourage takes a rifle and declares jihad and murders three marines in the gymnasium. when he sent it, he immediately reported it to his co. his co looked at the situation, ncis looked at the situation and both decided nothing further needed to be done. what he did was appropriate. a year goes by. the family goes to the congressman peter king. he's as voe indicating on their behalf. they have a connection to major bresler. he's reached out to by congressman king.

a story reveals that he's talking to his congressman. that was august 25th. that story gets the attention of marine commandant amos who sends it to marines concerned about the emails. it is the most obvious case of retaliation tor a protected communication that i've ever seen. >> greg, major bresler was trying to take action to save your son. >> he's in really big trouble now. >> is it hard to see this person who was doing his best to protect the marines like your son -- >> very much so. >> being dragged through the mud? >> it's awful. it's heart wrenching to me that he's doing -- they are doing this to this young man. he stepped up to the plate and tried to save my son's life.

he did what he was supposed to do as a marine and protect his fellow marines. because he did that, he's being prosecuted and thrown out of the marine corps for doing the right thing. >> is it harder for you that that's all happening and he is taking these charges very seriously but the secretary of state hillary clinton is being aus cardioed and now they know she had top secret information on her computer, and she's making jokes about it in iowa. she's laughing about files being deleted, top secret files. >> she's getting a pass, really. it's wrong. it's straight out wrong. on every single level it's wrong and something has to be done about that. secretary of the navy needs to be in contact with this case and it has to be brought forward and things need to be changed. this young man had a great career. he was a firefighter in new york city. he's being prosecuted for no

>> interestingly, people are talking and mingling with the candidates. they want to know where they stand on the issues. and back in washington, you know, donald trump has been slamming washington. but now six in ten republicans according to the new polls say in early states like iowa and new hampshire, that donald trump can't win in those states. because, and that's because of this week's politico caucus. which is a bipartisan survey of top operatives and strategists. all the washington insiders saying he can't win in the early states. >> and he needs to lay out some sort of policy. here's what trump has to say about policy. >> when i do a deal, i don't say here's 14 points. i go out and do it. i don't sit down and talk about 14 points but i know the press wants it. i don't think the people care. i think they trust me. i think they know i'm going to make good deals for them. >> so is it about trusting the people you want to give your support to and trust they will surround themselves with good people to put their plans in order?

each mason jar. and people line up with their corn and come and drop it in the corresponding jar with the candidate they like. you have the republicans on the left and the democrats on the right. here is hillary clinton's jar. here is donald trump's jar. donald trump is beating her, but if you look at the jars, you can see it looks like clinton is winning. that's not the case. once these fill up, they start them over. trump is ahead with 23%. clinton 17%. sanders 13. fiorina 6%. and these were the results as of 8:20 last night. total, 17,000 voters. what's great about this. it's totally transparent. you don't have to have an idea i.d. you don't have to be 18. you can get in line as many times as you want and vote over and over again. there might not be a kernel of truth to all of this. and yes, it might be highly flawed and very corny, but it's good clean fun here at the iowa state fair. back to you, peter. >> that's the cutest report i've

a new survey says roughly six in ten insiders say trump simply can't win in iowa and new hampshire. joining us to react is fox news contributor and editor of the national review. rich, nice to see you this morning. >> how you doing? >> so specifically we're talking about this politico caucus where they intervieweded in the early voting states. they simply say he doesn't have the o and he can't push the ball over the goal line in early voting states. what do you think about that? >> pretty much all the insiders believe this. we should take it with a grain of salt. none of the insiders would have predicted this dump surge to begin with. but they believe he'll be, and i

believe he'll be worn down over time by his greatest vulnerabilities. look at iowa. look at the guys who won iowa the last two times around. rick santorum, mike huckabee, really deeply religious social conservatives who are good fit for that state. you don't see trump lining up so much that way in iowa. >> we've seen a lot of people on social media and the facebook page responding while they think he has a lot to say, they want to hear more specifics. when strategists conclude he can't win, what are they pointing to specifically? is it perhaps a lack of organization in the early voting states? on the ground, retail politics door to door? >> right. both iowa and new hampshire, voters want to meet you and touch you and see you. often multiple times. does trump have the patience to do that? >> we saw santorum. >> right. santorum got in triz truck and met with people at the pizza

restaurants. maybe a handful. half a dozen at a time. will trump do that? it seems unlikely. he's the only candidate in the whole process that has captured people's imaginations. he's hugely entertaining. it's hard to compete with free helicopters rides for the kids at the iowa state fair. so at the moment, that really has him at the top. and and he has an intense fan base. i tlaugt the fox poll was interesting on this. trump is still at the top. you ask people who won the debate. he did the worst on that measure. people thought he did the worst but he has the most -- most republicans did. but he has an intense following that hasn't been shaken yet. >> and you took that to point in the latest column. you call it the phenomenal incoherence of donald trump. what he was saying during the debate brought vehemence, and he brought a lot of energy.

and you said there weren't a lot of specifics and he seems to contradict himself in the same sentences. >> once you get past the fact that he's entertaining and past the fact that he speaks with such amazing forcefulness and listen to what he's saying, it doesn't make sense. look at his signature issue of immigration. when he tried to say more specifically what he believes, he seems to think, we're going to deport every illegal immigrant. 11 million, 12 million people, and instantly bring them back to the country to continue to do the jobs they're doing now. that doesn't make sense. if you're going to deport them, they should stay deported. if you're going to legalize them, you don't need to deport them first. no one pays much attention now. no one cares because he's a lightning rod and he's fun. over time if he continues to be inconsistent and incoherent, you have to believe it will hurt him. >> viewers saying that would

there. onto other stories making headlines. two military parachuters hurt after a midair collision and one tr the army's golden knights slamming into each other at the air and water show. spectators were first unaware of what went wrong. >> one guy was coming in really, really fast. then he lanted and went straight down. >> he hit the beach hard, fracturing a leg. he is in serious condition with a head injury. and a man armed with a machete is on the loose after robbing a massachusetts bank. you can see him holding up a large knife in the surveillance photos. police say he walked into the bank and told the teller he had a bomb in a bag. he took off and left the bag behind. instead of a bomb, police found a deflated soccer ball.

and flights are finally getting back on schedule after a computer glitch delayed hundreds of planes up and down the east coast. the problem at an air traffic control center in virginia, halted service to the busiest airports, including flights from new york and washington, d.c. a flight map from the type of the incident shows how planes were forced to ply around the affected areas. the faa blames an automation problem. and a life or death situation and it's all caught on dash cam video. a state trooper rushes to revive a truck driver after a crash. >> come on! come on! ohio state trooper and the trucker he saved, jonathan, reunited on our air. the officer describing a tense rescue. >> i was able to step up in the truck with him.

this is about $2.9 billion. he says i have $10 billion. he says he has 10 billion. a billion he will spend. i think at the end of the day, it's questionable if in fact he will put that much money into this. right now he's not really being forced to spend anything. he has not had to spend any of his own money. first of all, in terms of promotions, everybody wants to hear what he has to say. he's getting free publicity. he hasn't had to put his own money at stake so far. >> he sl have to, at some point. to get these offices set up in the early voting states. iowa, south carolina, new hampshire. the realers gets out and knocking on the doors. we've seen what money can do in a campaign. it doesn't mean you're going to win the presidency. >> that's right. that's what happened with romney. he keeps saying i told lobbyists. no, i don't want your money. they don't want to ask for favors. they're going to ask for favors

later. at the end of the day, it may not matter. money and politics has always been there. it's not always the answer in terms of getting elected. people frankly want substance. the first debate is under wraps. for the next several debates, the people want real solutions. which is why now trump is suggesting he's going to come out with specifics on immigration plan. he's going to come out with specifics on a tax plan. he better. that's what the american people will want. otherwise, i don't think his numbers will stay elevated. >> you're right about that. we saw that on facebook this morning from the viewers. they were saying they like that he's willing to stand up to the establishment, but they want to hear specifics. you have a big show lined up this morning. you have governor bobby jindal on. you have carly fiorina on there. and in a lot of ways because of the fox debate last week, and those numbers and shifting poll numbers now for the likes of carly fiorina.

>> she's doing incredibly well. she's articulating her story and what she can bring to the table very well. and i think that's why it's resonating. she also has a story that we can all sort of relate to. she started her career as a secretary. and so she was sick. she had cancer. all of these things. she's getting more personal. she's also coming out with solutions. she's talking about specifics in terms of regulation. in terms of fax reform, about what she would like to see. that's one of the reasons her numbers have gone up. people would like specifics. i'm interested in hearing her solution to obamacare. okay. then what is the solution? we need the alternative details so people can understand what, in fact, may come out of some of these changes. >> and she very articulately went after hillary clinton's e-mail scandal when as the head of a tech company, she was understanding and talking about servers and why it didn't make sense. >> she really can. she said hillary clinton, she's
