the dow is down. and last week, of course, was a volatile week. they got bigger as the week went on and plunged 530 points. and what is going on today? >> it is one of the biggest rallies. and what was going on was a lot of selling momentum. and china was bad. and i think a lot of people are leaning on the side of it. and it could be a air panic and all of that in the morning and seems like the market got too it stretched on the side.

strong as the stock market might reflect. and what do you think of the real strength of the u.s. economy? >> we feel like it is some what fragile and the economy is on a relative basis doing better than any other market in the country it is only two percent growth. it seems like you can't rely entirey on that momentum and we overrely on china as a source of too much growth. >> the fall guy. >> and also before the hero. and their growth was going to save everybody. neither one of those things are quite true and you had a market that raced ahead of the economy for 5 or 6 years. and stock market that had front that activity has struggled. >> and talk to us about the

federal reserve. you can see the stock market go up as the fed is involved and continuing to intervene in the market in simple terms. what about the royal of the fed moving forward and why does it matter? >> a definite close call with the fed. the federal reserve is looking for the opportunity to get short term interest rate from 0. the fed recognizes the benefit is not that great. and when they move to do that. the markets have a tantrum. >> and the viewer wrote. investors are starting a temper tantrum because of worry of the rates. >> it is in part. the fed is doing that the same time the rest of the world is doing opposite. they are trying to stimulate

with free money in europe and china and elsewhere. that is tension. >> is that controlling our fate for the next 6 or 12 months. >> the fed is reacting more to the information as it comes in with the market and economy than driving them. if they move in the next month or so. and the fed we'll raise rates, i don't think that would be received well. the market wants to see a federal reserve that is with the conditions. >> and actual conditions makes you money. and if they don't move that would be a sign about approximate the economy. >> you can't handle a quarter of a percent. >> and good point.

john, when we talk about train safety and railroad safety in the past we talked about the cars and the rails. and now there is a new security threat out there. how would you assess the preventive measures in the united states against this kind of an attack like we saw in france? >> i think we have seen a couple of different attacks in trains one in canada that could have been a serious attack. on board, it is it a soft spot and vulnerability for the railroad industry and we talk about approximate passengers, mot of these system, they can get a ticket and be on the train. but unlike the airline system you have toe wait. there is no protection for the

trains. and the railroad industry has to be proactive and need to hit it head-on. >> we know what it is like trying to board an airliner. tsa screeners are thorough and invasive. can you do that it on trains? >> unfortunately, jon, these are different times and everybody realizes that. if you are going to be carrying people on public transportation, you have an obligation to protect them and comes with the territory and times have changed. i hate to see it get to that point, there has to be something that we need to approach. and we need to make the presencedom napt in the rail stations and on the train. you can't put any of this on the employees that have a large amount of things to be concerned
