9:00 am
and all of this fine friday this is "outnumbered." i am harris faulkner, jedediah bila, julie, and stacy dash and today's #oneluckyguy tucker carlson and he is out numbered. big day for you. >> and i am a hash tag. >> and you trend. >> you are welcome. >> and your hair! >> it is not real. you can touch and verify it. >> let's begin. a growing list of democratic leaders reportedly expressing new concerns about hillary clinton. the democratic frontrunner shifted her tone taking quote responsibility for the e-mail as secretary of state but "the new york times" interviewed 75 democratic leaders and is
9:01 am
reporting they have wide spread frustration at her handling of the e-mail scandal with some supporters saying she may have opened the door for joe biden to jump in. it was put this way quote they handled the e-mail situation atrocioussly certainly horrible. the campaign has been tone deaf and not seeing this as a more serious issue. she should have turned over the e-mail server at the start. but there is nothing they can do to kill the issue and are left playing defense. this is after a new survey is finding the first word that comes to mind when voters think of hillary is liar followed by dishonest and untrustworthy though strong leader is on the list as well. experienced republican political operatives say it is too early to write off hillary clinton as
9:02 am
one told politico was bill clinton perceived as being honest? no. likeability means a ton and if you are not likable and viewed as honest you have a problem. jedediah, why are you shaking your head? >> it is true. when you are likable you can get away with a lot of stuff. you can charm people. hillary clinton is not charming. she has come across arrogant and like she is doing us a favor and answer a few questions with. that doesn't work well with the press and voters. you see the numbers tightening up. if you look at jeb bush, marco rubio and donald trump, a tight race. this opened up the door for joe biden who is likable and will not need to be as strong on policy because he will charm a lot of people. >> maybe a charm offensive is
9:03 am
what she needs. if you friends are talk about this what do you have left? >> and she is a big supporter. she needs to change the narrative she is not trustworthy. she desperately needs to change the subject which she has been doing the last several days. i said for weeks she needs to get out from under the issue and finally quit joking and i was hoping she would say i screwed up. i am relieved she is trying to get her arms around this in a sensible way and not try to pretend it isn't a big deal because it is a big deal. >> if hillary clinton can get past this, let's say tucker, any thought about the case the fbi and justice department are waging, maybe everything works out. does she walk away unscathed?
9:04 am
>> you should look at him for the show. he tells the truth. >> you do, too. >> i am a big fan. hillary clinton will be the democratic nominee because there is no option. the sleeper story of the summer is revolt against the elite. the republican base is not the only one upset but the democrats are madder. nepitism, something who has been around too long and they have no choice. it is like soviet union. there is one product, you will like it and be quite. deep resentiment. they don't have anywhere else to go. >> stacy, you know what this was breaking news yesterday during "outnumbered." the fall out began before we got off the air and continued today. republicans blasting hillary clinton for language she used at
9:05 am
a campaign speech comparing some republicans to terrorist groups. >> extreme views about women? we expect that from some of the terrorist groups. we expect that from people who don't want to live in the modern world. but it is a little hard to take coming from republicans who want to be the president of the united states. >> the rnc demanded an apology and rer rivals are saying no. >> i will take care of women's health and women's health issues better than anybody and far better than hillary clinton who doesn't have a clue >> she is desperate and panicked. her views are radical. here is what is most offensive about it. they will not call terrorist terrorist but they call their political opponents terrorist. >> jeb bush tweeted this.
9:06 am
hillary clinton compares pro-life americans to terrorist. that stands for planned parenthood. her priorities are totally wrong. and scott walker saying hillary clinton has audacity. a spokesperson saying instead of manufacturing outrage by twisting her words republican candidates should stop pushing policies that would hurt women. we played the sound bite. >> this goes to show her behavior is not going to play in the 21st century. it is not. the difference between bill clinton and her is he was a womanizer and wasn't in quid pro quo with god knows who because of the e-mails she erased. we don't even know who she owes
9:07 am
favors to. she has blood on her hands. benghazi. so many different things between her and bill. sleeping with other women and putting us into national security trouble is a big difference. >> you look like your head is going to pop off. i want her to breathe. >> i don't know where to begin on that. let me address your statement. it is what i said earlier: she is trying to change the subject and this is how she is doing it. >> is this effective? >> it is for the base. >> she does realize she has to get a general election >> and planned parenthood polls much better than any political candidate on any other side of the aisle. it is very poplar among american voters. the reason i say this is she is doing what i suggested which is change the subject and get off the e-mails.
9:08 am
get the base excited again and explain to the base what it needs. >> can we put aside this and what she is saying literally. anyone who opposes abortion restriction, like if you are uncomfortable with sex selection or federal dollars going to sell baby parts, you are like isis? that is an extremist position. that is not in line with the public's viewing. she is far out on this. i don't like calling people extremist but on this specific topic she is an extremist. >> that is very different than calling someone a member of a terror group. that has such a visual in our minds. >> half the country is pro-life. i don't know who she thinks she is talking to. most of them would say partial birth abortion is not acceptable. take the non-sense language with
9:09 am
weeks of desperation aside. people don't want taxpayer dollars going to an organization that might be involved in profiting the harvesting of baby parts. those videos don't look too good for planned parenthood. no body is seeing what we are seeing. >> doctor or not, what you saw in the video it is repulsive. >> if you would not call what happened in benghazi an act of terror after it happened but call that with people who nay not agree with you politically how does that help you? >> my policy is you don't need to know. >> we will go from run frontrunner to the other. one of the big topics this week
9:10 am
has been donald trump's economic plan of lowering corporate taxes, ending the debt ceiling and raising the taxes on the rich. tucker, what are your thoughts? >> people are supporting the donald trump because they think the system is rigged and think a large amount of people got left behind with a few getting poor. he is making a serious argument that a lot of other republicans are ignoring and that is wages are stagnant and people are getting shafted by the economy. that is real. >> don't you think you have to be careful with the tax bargain? republicans have been saying for so long we don't want taxes raised on everybody. >> he is in a tricky position where he is catering to the
9:11 am
general election audience but the base -- >> he picked on hedge fund managers. who likes them he said. >> i will tell you. here is polling from 2014 from a pew poll 70% of gop voters oppose raising voters on the rich. >> did they ask about hedge fund managers? >> the question for me is where is the hypocrisy in the republican party? this frontrunner is saying what democrats have been slamming republicans for and republicans love him. >> that is exactly the point. he is a rich man saying they should tax the rich. that is why i love him. he is honest and telling the truth. he really does want to help america become great again. he wants to help the middle class. >> so the messenger makes the difference for you? >> yes. >> one of the things we watched
9:12 am
happen over time with the economic man, a lot like the illegal immigration plan, is people begin to talk about that and not donald trump as much. he is an effective communicator. the guys on the political aisle are trying to get them to talk about it and he cannot stop them. >> there is nothing you can find out about donald trump that could shock you. now we know he doesn't wear a rug. what are you going to attack him on? >> i am going to pull your hair. >> not good news for michele obama's lunch program. the results of two new surveys and why it maybe time for the rules to go. and a model speaking out saying she can not get work because agents and clients say she is too big and needs to get in shape. that is her. what is the deal with the fashion industry anyway? we will figure it out.
9:13 am
i am hungry. >> i am starving. >> i am starving. heart health's important... ...so you may... take an omega-3 supplement... ...but it's the ingredients inside that really matter for heart health. new bayer pro ultra omega-3 has two times the concentration of epa and dha as the leading omega-3 supplement. new bayer pro ultra omega-3.

learn more at purinabeyond.com. i've been volunteering at the international bird rescue for about 8 years. we see birds with all types of problems. when a bird gets oil on its feathers, it destroys their waterproofing. dawn is absolutely essential to the wash process, we use tons of it. i was surprised that they use something that i use at home, to wash the oil off the birds. it's a wonderful feeling to be able to say that i helped return this bird back to the wild. i love wildlife, how do you love wildlife?
9:17 am
program. one study after the healthy kids hunger act found a lot of kids taking required fruits and vegetables and throwing them in the trash and hundreds of schools are made layoffs to offset the extra cost of michele obama's lunch room plan. this stuff drives me insane. i used to work in schools. the idea they thought they were going to mandate that kid put vegetables and fruits on the plate and they can use it. >> pop tarts is never wasted. who put michelle obama in control of what my child eats? people resent the hell out of this. even if objectively there is good sense. you probably should get your
9:18 am
foods to eat good foods but michele obama shouldn't be involved. >> i lost my basic question card. who put her in charge of our food program? >> she did. >> that is so basic. how long have i been rattling brain around. who do you think should be responsible >> should it be the individual schools making the decision? you have government bureaucrats making decisions about nutrition and who is to say they know anything. >> who is preparing thees and responsible. i am responsible as the parent. it is my responsibility to make sure my child gets what he or she needs nutritionally. but the school are provide hot lunch and i can chose that for my kid or not. but the responsibility and accountability of my child's
9:19 am
health rest with me. my kids are in grade school. and our public school system in our jersey system didn't send home a note saying are you okay with the school program. >> as someone who ate only a brownie for lunch at school during the years i think it would be nice to give kids choices. it would be nice to tell kids they have the option of eating vegetables and fruit. you cannot shove it down somebody's throat is the problem. if it is getting thrown out and kids are not responding because they think green beans are disgusting and tossing it into the garbage you will not force anyone but it is nice to give people the option. >> because she is nice that gave her the power. >> that is why you should have the conversation with your child. it should be between the parent and child. you know your child, you know what they will eat and what they will throw away. figure out on in between.
9:20 am
how will you get them to eat healthy sometimes it is bribery. it always works. >> in the game of debate musical chairs she could miss out again despite the search in the polls. carly fiorina may not be on the center stage again at the next one and why she said the rules are rigged and should be changed. and a best-selling book causing controversy at one of america's elite university and some students refusing to read the book saying graphic sexual content goes against their beliefs. should they be allow to skip the assignment? we will debate that next.

9:25 am
presidential debate is coming up and cnn's criteria includes older polling going back to july when the chief was barely registering. it negates much of the momentum carly fiorina picked up after the debate and wants the rnc to help intervene in this and change the rules. here she is on fox earlier. >> it is frustrating cnn is putting their thumb on the scale and i am comfortablely within the top five in every poll that has been taken since the debate and there have been many. and we have state wide primaries not national. it is frustrating a media company through the rules would determine who the republican voters get to see on the debate stage. >> it is interesting. we had senator lindsey graham on
9:26 am
here just before the debate and he made the same points partly. part of what changed is she ended up being talked about in the second debate. >> and in the world of politics so much changes overnight. the notion of using polling that is so far back doesn't do justice to the candidates. she did a lot in the interim to talk to the audience. i thought she did a fantastic job. everyone was left still talking about carly fiorina. i think she did a really good job of talking to the audience and engaging the audience. i would love to see her there. >> do they break the rules to get her there? >> i don't know. i am not going to tell them how to run their network. i think the rules to begin with moving forward should be looked at. you are not going to get the candidates the opportunity to change the dynamics and politics
9:27 am
is all about change. >> one way she skipped on to the big change is when you looked at google and what was being looked for was her name. we will break in with breaking news. this is actually outside of the television station where a reporter and paragrapher were gunned down. watch. >> the courage and determination they showed is truly, truly extraordinary. a lot of the staff was crying and it is a very, very sad time. they lost two colleagues more importantly they lost two friends. we had a conversation with chris who is with us today and words can't describe it. i want everybody here to
9:28 am
understand that we are there for them today, tomorrow and any time in the future. i would say the resources of the commonwealth of virginia will be there for them. he did. and we just had another long conversation. he is going to do watt he told me that alison would have wanted him to do. fight to make the community safer. be a vocal advocate for universal background checks. this is one of the main reasons i ran for governor and talked about it. he wants to be involved in those efforts because she said that is what ally -- alison would want.
9:29 am
we can work together and make the community safer. communities safer. if we can save one life we need to do that. that will be his passion. my job as governor is to keep our community safe. you drop off a above the one at school or work you want to know you have done everything you can to keep those communities safe. 89 individuals and they are lost to gun violence. there are too many guns in america and clearly too many guns in the wrong hands. we are going to do what we can. >> what would you say? >> i will introduce legislation as i did this session, i will introduce legislation again. background checks, i am a gun owner. i own three guns, i have gone through the process of
9:30 am
background checks, you have your license over. it takes two or tweet minutes to find out if there is an issue of mental illness, an issue of violence, domestic abuse, stalking, basic issues of an individual who should not shown big firearms. that is a common-sense, vast majority of americans support. >> talk about gun-control. >> virginia governor mcauliffe is outside the station where the reporter and photographer who were shot on a live seen earlier this week and talking about the next employee who eventually died of a self-inflicted wound to carry out this horrible rule seen shooting three people, one of them survived, vicki gardner is hospitalized but progressively doing better and expected to recover. the governor is talking about gun-control. you heard him briefly mention mental illness.
9:31 am
tucker carlson made a true statement that this guy had a background check. we wanted to bring that to you live. let's bring it out to the couch and talk about politics as we were before with carly fiorina moving up in the polls. and concerned that she is not going to be on the prime-time debate stage. >> understand her frustration. i don't believe they're willing to debate cnn. i am not sure it is so bad for her to the outside. is it bad in this populist moment to be an outsider? probably not. >> use doing pretty well. >> amazingly well on the strength of her own virtues and the fact is she is articulate, she was on stage the first time, we are talking about her now. i get why she is upset. i would be too but in the long run this is not a bad thing for her. >> i haven't done this, i wonder with your background in
9:32 am
politics, can you play this, there are some big fish on that stage. >> before the last debate, someone like chris christie was going to be overshadowed by donald trump been a fierce debate, he would have been better off being in the second debate. carly fiorina approved my point. essentials be that she would not have been to tucker at point on the debate stage had she been in the debate that she absolutely deserves to be at the table. she has taken off, captured the imagination of a lot of people in the republican party since the first debate. if cnn takes polls that predate the first debate, what is the point? you need to reward people for rising in the polls, she is not being rewarded. the next debate she needs to be 18 points in order to make it to the table.
9:33 am
she leads in every poll. >> i wonder if it matters because when you have 17 people imagine a debate with 17 people. you need to figure out a way to separate it out. if you want to see your candidate, does it matter what stage they are on? >> no, but i do believe she is a strong republican candidate. she is not woman. she is a businesswoman. she is real competition for hillary. that is something i think cnn is looking at and i think she really needs to be just because of those reasons. she is our woman. they have their woman, she is our woman. let them go head to head, let them talk about women's issues. let two women do that. for us not to do that is a disgrace. not fair to the american people and not fair to her because she deserves it. >> i do think it is important for her to be on the stage.
9:34 am
for name recognition and also because of the way it is perceived. it she is not on the stage she is not perceived as being electable, in the top tier. >> fair to everybody else on the stage the earlier debate stage too? >> in her case because i have watched her so closely and i wasn't acute supporter of her before and have become one she has made big gains, she has earned her right to be there. >> i want to respect the rules but what i am trying to say is there something wrong with the rules if they keep her off the stage? >> i agree with that. we will move on. lately we have seen advertising campaigns embracing women with real body's record than the usual model types. but folks, not so much. in its september issue not a single plus sized model is featured except in one page ad. our culture is it changing when it comes to women's bodies? this model has an opinion on
9:35 am
that. industry people telling her she is too big to get work. oh my goodness gracious. she needs to get in shape. really? we will work it out. did you know that good nutrition is critical for brain health? brain food, hmmm. ensure has b vitamins that help support brain health - now that's smart nutrition. ensure's complete balanced nutrition has 26 vitamins and minerals and 9 grams of protein. ensure. take life in.

9:40 am
issue. she has and struggling to get work, people in the industry tell her she is too big. she needs to, quote, get in shape. she weighs 120 pounds. i am not much of the feminist but this makes me feel like one. all these women's magazines stop feminist nonsense, they towed the party line but they -- run by women and they do more than anything to push these absurd anorexic standards. what is going on? >> women are tough on women not only in fashion but in life. they are responding to us. we are the market for this. they are giving us what we are depending. we are buying these magazines, these clothes based on the types of bodies we see in those clothes. we dictate this market in large part. i did some work in the day, if i
9:41 am
had a dollar for every time i was told my butt was too big ridge i would be rich. that is part of the problem. they're looking to sell magazines and closes and if we don't like it we would be turning away, they would be losing money. if the dynamic would change, it is up to us. >> i see a lot of magazines and they are garbage top to bottom. stupid. left wing. i am totally against it. i bark about it. my girls are smart and not superliberal but they read this stuff. >> you are "outnumbered" in your own household. >> i respect women. i don't know why you would read something dumb. >> part of it is aspirational. i have to let matt every swimsuit that comes along i by the issue that shows the ones that make you look right in the right places and as i have gotten older i earmarked them. i know i will never look just right in all the right places
9:42 am
especially as i get older but is aspirational. i should never put it up in polka dots. every year i try it anyway on the beach. it looks good in the magazine. >> we will get a camera. rogan the middle of this in los angeles, these magazines are not good for girls, are they? >> it has been going on since magazines began. since the 40s. women have to have a certain weight, a certain type of body and that is how it is for fashion and i'd buy the magazines, i buy them for fashion, i don't buy them for the body weight. women have to have a certain type of body to be a super model. this is what is required. >> high jump up and down and have and puff about this. love flip side is some people say we need affirmative action for models. i can't play tennis, i don't have a spot at wimbledon. there are rules.
9:43 am
i think the rules are ridiculous that they exist. should there be a special place where models are forced on the industry keep you >> that woman is plus? this is the body of applause sized woman? i do think your second point is right. this didn't sell, this wouldn't be in the magazine. >> this is clearly not good -- feminists never say anything about it. >> what is disconcerting to me is young girls look at this, they see photoshop, not reality and girls serving, thinking the way the people in magazines are what reality is and it is not. >> it is not only about the bodies but the fashion. let's not forget that. there are lots of great fashion designers. it is an art form. some people, too expensive. you have a lot of girls.
9:44 am
>> an excellent point. those are the conversations we have with our daughters. my girls know i shouldn't be in polka dotss on the beach. >> i don't know what that means. >> polka dots on the beach, they know it is wrong. >> she is wrong, porking and raunchy music videos made her popular among teams that parents raked miley cyrus as the single worst role model in the world for their children. do celebrities have to be will models in the first place? that is a conversation, don't miss it, up next.

my psoriatic arthritis i'm caused joint pain.o golfer. just like my moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis. and i was worried about joint damage. my doctor said joint pain from ra can be a sign of existing joint damage that could only get worse. he prescribed enbrel to help relieve pain and help stop further damage. enbrel may lower your ability to fight infections. serious, sometimes fatal, events including infections, tuberculosis, lymphoma, other cancers, nervous system and blood disorders and allergic reactions have occurred. tell your doctor if you've been someplace where fungal infections are common,

is the number one celebrity parents hope their kids don't grow to be likely desk which female celebrity they hate most, 70% of parents say miley cyrus followed by mickey manage and kim kardashian. if you are apparent on the fence about miley cyrus here is what she chose to wear for an appearance on jimmy kimmel's show this week. there it is. when it comes to mail celebrities parents dislike kanye west the most followed by justin bieber and one direction st. mel leak. parents do however like kate middleton and and she ran. this survey was done -- should celebrities really be expected to be will models for kids? yes, they should. i believe they should. they have a big format, children look up to us, we should
9:50 am
absolutely be expected to be wall models and we should have some kind of moral compass that we follow. this one obviously does not, miley cyrus. my daughter is not allowed to watch her. >> every generation has a miley cyrus. when i was a kid it was madonna and she was in the wedding dress and on stage and my mom was like oh but i loved it. >> anything has gotten as bad as it is. >> society is getting crazy, celebrities feel they have to keep up with fat. >> it is the media blitz networks have to say enough, stop, this has to stop. >> what do these people have in common? they were child stars. it is a horrifying cesspool of filth and it is dumb. i mean that with sincerity. it is probably not a good idea
9:51 am
to put your kids in showbiz is when they are 8. sometimes it works but mostly it doesn't. >> i disagree, i don't think it is incumbent on celebrity role models. they are there to make money for themselves. if we buy tickets to their movies that is our mistake. you don't like miley cyrus? it is not for anybody to be a role model, your kids i lame enough to think miley cyrus is a role model? i am blaming of the parents. >> your kids are lame enough to think? 8-year-olds? >> a little bit of a celebrity, i take on the role of role model, i take that on with pride. i think it is a good one. everyone should. you should want to make the world a better place rather than not give a crap about it. >> feel like they are sacrificing their art and craft by taking on that responsibility. i don't know her personally, maybe she feels this is who i
9:52 am
am. >> maybe they feel -- >> maybe someone would feel i can't be me if i am not doing this so i am not here to be a role model. i am here to be me and make money and have a great time. i am not sure. >> there is something to that and it is marketability. at the end of the day. >> you can be marketable and still have morals but there are people who maybe are called upon to do that, not everybody has that calling in their heart. some people just want to be there to be marketable, to do their trade and they are happy doing it. let's not gloss over what made kim kardashian who she is, a sex tape. now she is the mom and that the things and she has gone on but some people have more of a journey. >> there was somebody in leadership and management, these people all have managers who cared aid little bit and they don't care at all. >> they work for free too. >> a tiny bit of responsibility.
9:53 am
>> not that no one should be accountable. >> is there anybody worse than people himself as crack? >> to be role models but when they don't. >> up to the parents to make sure their kids don't do that. >> we will move on to politics. forget about his immigration policy or his plan to take down the islamic state, donald trump finally silencing all those who question is your hair real? helped him connect with more of voters? we will debate and we will pull on tucker carlson's hair. art he. ...so you may... take an omega-3 supplement... ...but it's the ingredients inside that really matter for heart health. new bayer pro ultra omega-3 has two times the concentration

we don't want to miss it a too much because they do use hair spray. >> it is. >> say it please. >> yes i believe it is. >> i think that that is the genuine issue with people, they love that nature. can you been in to me please? >> i have makeup. >> you have a lot of hair. >> i can see. >> you can't because there is no seem. it is legitimate. >> a great head of hair. what do you think of this? >> that is a man running to the leader of the free world. i think he is brilliant because we are all talking about it. it may not be seemly if you want the president but we are all talking about it. i would want to know more about. >> you want to give him nukes after that? get done in the mud with vladimir putin.
9:59 am
>> you are not the first to notice. >> when hillary clinton talks about her hair there are women who argue that lowers the conversation for women. what are your thoughts about candidates and their hair? >> there has to be time for fun. this get serious and we are dealing with serious issues, the economy, terrorism. everyone wants to have not laugh sometimes. this guy knows when to interject that. i would have gone for a bigger tug. you got to test that out. our politicians to be real people that have a sense of humor, don't be afraid to laugh. >> you have of wes? >> a sense of humor and willing to do that, willing to let someone pull on his hair. >> she is enjoying himself and the rest are undergoing a kind of -- >> she is known for his hair. this is something he is known for. >> the products company when he said i use hair spray, die
