studios on avenue of the americas where it is a rainy morning in new york city. actually large portions of the country seeing heavy rain in spots overnight. and good morning to you. you're watching "fox & friends first." i'm heather childers. >> thank you for waking up early with us. it is the eve of 9/11 and we start with a fox news alert. new terror threats from al qaeda on the eve of the 14th anniversary of 9/11. >> the terror group now urging lone wolf attacks on american business leaders. kristen fisher is live for us in washington with the new hit list. good morning. >> good morning. this hit list actually comes from a very well known and well distributed online magazine published in english by al qaeda. it is best known for an article called how to make a bomb in the kitchen of your mom and now it is calling for lone wolfs to assassinate america's most prominent business men. it is no coincidence this came out just two days before the 14th anniversary of 9/11.

not to be outdone, isis has now published its own magazine on the very same day inside photographs of two kidnapped prisoners. one from norway and one from china. they're being offered for sale online and the advertisement adds this is a limited time offer. just a sign of how twisteds they captors are. their goal is the same, to inspire terror around the world, especially here in the u.s. >> both of them are very slick. they have very powerful messaging. this is where the names of the executives appear. so we can't discount it. most of these gentlemen have security. and it is the world in which we live. >> this is actually the second time that bill gates has been targeted by al qaeda. in fact, al qaeda has said that if he withdrew most of his money from any u.s. bank, he would be removed from the hit list.

scary scutuff on the eve of 9/1 >> absolutely. always in the back of our mind. thank you very much. brand-new details about the terrifying british air ways plane fire. that plane was speeding up for takeoff when the plane caught fire. passengers on board scrambling to slide down the emergency chutes. smoke was pouring from the plane. >> i was one of the first people off. and jumped down the slide and looked up and the flames seems to be twice the height of the aircraft. >> 27 people had to be treated for minor injuries, twice as many as initially reported. the cause of the fire still under investigation. drivers afraid to hit the road. police in arizona now calling a series of shootings on an arizona highway an act of domestic terrorism. at least 10 vehicles targeted in the last 11 days. the most recent, this white pickup truck here with the window shattered.

believe it was intentional. >> dennis was cut down in an instant, doing what he loved. what he believed in. what he believed in most, helping other people. >> police chased the 22-year-old us is foe suspect to a neighborhood four miles away. the mayor called the 35-year-old rodeman a hero twiceover. a seven-year veteran of the lansing fire department and u.s. marine corvetps vet. he served in fallujah, iraq. he was also a newlywed, married for two months and expecting his first child. >> i think it probably would have been easier to accept if it was, you know, at a fire, or a rescue of some sort. it is hard to put into words, you know. i don't even think this is going to set in for all of us for a long time. >> the suspect's name has not been released.

prosecutors are expected to file charges later today. heather? >> live for us, thank you, will. now to extreme weather. heavy rain washing homes away and causing widespread flooding in japan overnight. helicopters are working to pluck people from their rooftops after a river north of tokyo overflowed its banks. more than 90,000 people forced to leave their homes. at least one person reported missing, 12 others injured. the united states opening up its doors to thousands of more refugees. the crisis is growing over in europe and the administration is reportedly planning to take 5,000 more refugees next year. that's going to raise the number from 70,000 to 75,000. now, aid groups are demanding much more than that, urging the u.s. to take a whopping 65,000 syrian refugees next year. house republicans aren't giving up just yet on killing the iran nuclear deal. following a big rally in front

they were sold in stores and served in restaurants across several states. at least 30 states are now reporting cases of salmonella. the majority in california where the first person died. another fan is injured at a major league baseball game, this time by a foul ball at fenway park during last night's red sox and blue jays game. the fan did return to the stands with what appeared to be an ice pack on his left shoulder. this is just the latest in the series of crowd accidents this season at fenway. in june, a woman was hit by a piece of a broken bat. critics are calling on the league for more serena williams roberta vinci in the us open semifinals. williams who beat venus on tuesday has never lost to vinci in four previous matches. if she wins tonight, serena will play for the calendar year grand slam on saturday. >> wonderful.

a love triangle may have led to the murder of a young dentist. in texas, we have been telling you about, kendra hatcher, there is her picture, she was gunned down in the parking garage of her apartment complex in dallas last week. police are now questioning her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend. court documents reveal the unidentified woman tracked hatcher with an iphone, crystal cortez, the getaway driver, told police the woman offered her $500 $500. remember when donald trump said this about illegal immigrants. >> when mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. they're bringing drugs, they're

bringing crime. >> it turns out he was right. the chief of the border patrol agent union says only 40% of the u.s. border -- mexico border is under control. brandon judd told congress one out of every five immigrants caught has a criminal record. judd said more agents with better training are needed to secure the border. well, are you headed to an fsu florida state football game this weekend? you may need to go armed. fans are now allowed to bring firearms to the games. they have to have a concealed weapons permit and have to leave those guns locked up in their cars. the change comes one day after the school was actually sued over a policy to ban guns there on the campus. one consumer group now fighting back against airlines trying to steal their leg room. lawrence simonetti here to explain. >> if you're sick of getting squeezed when flying, a consumer group wants to help.

flyer rights.org has 30,000 folks to sign a petition asking congress to set a legal minimum airplane seat size among other things. in trying those protections in a passenger bill of rights. new york city is getting less salty. the city board of health requiring big chain restaurants to put salt shaker symbols on their menus so diners know which dishes come with more than 2300 milligrams of sodium. those changes take effect september 1st. toys "r" us says it will ship you an item for free as long as you spend $19. the free shipping threshold was brought down from $49 and you don't have to sign up for special membership to get it. mcdonald's will transition back to butter from margarine, use the original english muffin. and a fresh cracked egg at the center of it all which will now come from a caged free hen.
