party's in good hands as long as we listen to the grass roots. listen it that cause of conservatism. >> in some ways this announcement was no surprise. he had been hovering around 1% in the polls. his campaign has been so strapped for cash that it even stopped paying most of its you staffers. in other ways this did come as a surprise. perry is a gift the politician is lots of experience. he is the longest serving governor ever in texas. this is the second time for returning for president. a lot of the republicans rivals were taken aback when he made this announcement last night. >> i was very surprised. i didn't see it coming. i had no inkling it was happening. we had all heard the stories that he had been shutting down offices and cutting back staff. but it's a long way out. >> rick perry becoming the first major g.o.p. candidate to drop out of this race and then there were 16. he did it right before, just

nominated with soaring rhetoric and no record is not what we need to be doing either. we do not need to nominate a candidate who speaks louder than his record. my second warning is this. we cannot indulge nateist appeals that divide the nation further. the answer to our current divider and chief is not to elect a republican divider in chief. >> obviously a direct attack on donald trump. kind of a bitter way to go out. interesting though he used the word nativist. you are hearing a lot of people in the republican establishment throw that word around. the straightforward position is putting your country above other countries. i do think that's an appealing message. clearly it's resonated with donald trump supporters and i don't think there is racist overtone to nativist.

this cold air across the northern plains is going to make under the circumstances way across the northern part of the country and much of the south this week. this right here is the front behind it where we have a fall-like air mass. to the front of it it is still hot. it's still humid and we are still going to be seeing showers cut across the mid-atlantic, northeast and down across the southeast. southeast part is where we will see the heaviest of the rain throughout the day today. stretching down throughout parts of florida. take a look at the forward radar how this plays out throughout the rest of the day today. see this slowly sinking to the south. tampa, doesn't need much more rain. get quite a bit today. maybe localized flooding. by tomorrow, we are going to be looking at fall-like conditions down across much of the southeast. in fact into the 50's overnight into the south. take a look at today's high temperatures. all that green on the map that's pumpkin spice latte territory and tomorrow all of that green moves off towards the east. fall is coming, guys. >> it can't come soon enough. >> shamrock shake. >> stop that. >> happy medium with the the

like to clear up two misperceptions. they said it was hate speech there was prayer on that flier. prayer is for the benefit of someone, never against it was strongly worded. i will admit that in light of the undercoverred planned parenthood videos one of them you see a technician discussing how there was an aborted baby on the tray heart baiting. cut through the face to harvest the brain i think strong words are called for in a prayer. >> you think? thomas, i want to put up something on our screen something you read was the response of the company and i'm quoting. the copying of any material that advocates any form of racial or religious discrimination or the persecution of certain groups of people is, according to home depot prohibited by their internal policy is their position that opposing planned parenthood is a form of persecution and discrimination? >> >> that's exactly what they said. they called it hate speech. so they basically said a prayer, which called for the

conversion of planned parenthood and the enlightenment of people in the abortion industry was hate speech and they also called it graphic material that violated their policy. >> now, maria, you will notice that when the ceo of a fast food chicken outlet said that he was uncomfortable with changes to marriage, a massive boycott was organized against his company. do you think christians will take note of this that office depot is saying that anybody who opposes planned parenthood's sale of baby parts is a bigot? >> christians have taken note of this. and, i mean, it's been all over the media that's the second misconception i would like to clear up. in. so media they are calling me antiabortion, and that is not what i am. i am not antiabortion. i'm actually -- i'm pro-woman. i sidewalk counsel after. i am there when women leave after their abortion i you see so much pain and devastation that that's what i'm trying to prevent.

i have the luxury of being deeply more involved. >> is it about timing and priorities. maybe the woman waits a few extra years. prioritize, live in a smaller house. so you have the money for the housekeeper. >> i say this to young women all the time. we are talking about leaning in and having it all. however, there is a real cost to what that means. we are preparing ourselves professionally and financially for retirement and buying a house. nobody is telling to you start a nanny fund. and it costs anywhere between 50 to $60,000 to replace what a stay at home really costs. >> depending what city. >> it may go even higher. >> there is an opportunity cost for. ing to have it all why it's hard to say that yes, you can have it all. and the stay home parents is four times what it used to be 10 years ago. there is a cost. >> per the original article this is what this high powered washington executive did before going and deciding to be at home. she says. this i you feel strongly that women can have it all

aand his fiance mary join us this morning. >> hi. >> we any you are in the midst in the fight to try to got your dad back here to the united states. where do things stand right now? >> well, basically, security uscis have slammed the door on us and told us there is no way we can bring him back for 10 years. >> take us back to 2011 when he was here in the united states. wife was he here in the first place, mary? >> he came over for a visit, he and his wife. upon arrival, we immediately saw how bad her health was. we knew he had some health you. she declined very quickly while here in the united states. and when the 90 day visa came up, during that period we decided let's move ahead. let's get him a green card and let him stay with us. she became very ill. couldn't travel. so when the 90 day visa was up we notified immigration we were in this process. we had a number, an alien number for him.

and they said don't worry about it continue with the process. >> so don't worry about it continue, you are here with your ailing mother, everything should be fine, that 90 days then elapses. and then when he tried to return, to be with you, what did he find out. >> he he had overstayed his visa and we completed the paperwork. they insisted he went back to london to complete the final interview. i traveled back with him to london. and at that point they turned around and said to us you can't travel back. you are barred. >> 10 years violation. you have got to stay out of the country for 10 years. >> exactly. >> pause you were here at the time when your wife was dying. >> right. and then she passed away. they were together 70 years. he couldn't leave her side. he was devastated after she passed. we had letters from his physician here in the united states saying that he couldn't live on his own. he was a -- is a diabetic and he needed care.

the other 16 share the last 28%, it's really tough to get contributions. it's tough to get your message out there. i was with rick perry yesterday. i spoke right after he did. so i had a chance to visit with him. look, rick perry is a great governor. he did a terrific job in texas. is he a good person. i have known him since he was land commissioner and i was lt. governor of arkansas. that's 25 years ago. so we have been friends a long time weep went toe iraq and afghanistan together to visit national guard troops that were stationed there. i want to say something about being a candidate for president, tucker. the only thing harder than making the very tough decision to get in the race is the decision to get out of the race and people don't understand that i really felt for him yesterday, i could see the anguish and just the pain of having to make that decision. and very few of us are in the club of people who have

really destroyed his life. turned out he wasn't the one involved at all. he ended up suing and getting quite a bit of money from networks and the police department, the fbi. from that point on they hesitated to call anybody a suspect unless they had evidence that points to the person. now they call a person a person of interest. if i were killed tomorrow my wife would be a person of interest just because naturally you speak to the people who would be logical to speak to. but it doesn't mean a lot. and it doesn't mean a lot for another reason, which is now police think that there's more than one shooter. there's been some shootings with bullets and pellet guns or b.b. guns. they're thinking there's a copycat or somebody else doing the same thing. >> from your experience, i mean, what a sick, twisted thing to do. but do you think this is something that people are doing together and they're deciding to plan -- you know, conspiring together, or is this a copycat situation and we might even see more? >> i don't know, but i would tend to doubt it. if they were doing it together, they'd probably be sharing guns

or not using a pellet gun and a regular gun, but it's certainly possible. we have another problem now, which is now civilians are arming themselves and going out there and trying to catch the perp. now you've added another dimension the police have to worry about because they find somebody in the area with a gun and it turns out to be somebody who is looking for casings, you know, they've stopped people now, a group called bolt force or something like that, a civilian group. and they're basically going out there and trying to take the law into their own hands, which is very dangerous, because as much as i appreciate extra eyes, you know, when you run the risk that they end up shooting somebody. you know, police are trained in shoot/don't shoot scenarios and they make mistakes. you put a civilian out there and you could end up with an innocent person killed. >> this is different than the d.c. sniper shootings, of course. >> of course. >> brutal murders. what kind of prison sentence would these people be looking at? they don't have any -- the shootings are different. they're much, much different. >> certainly it appears they're

he's informed his team he would hike them to accept -- at least make preparations to accept at least 10,000 syrian refugees. the top priority when evaluating these kind of policy options is the safety and security of the united states and our citizens. >> international groups are calling for the u.s. to up that number from 10,000 to at least 65,000 syrian refugees by the end of next year. is allowing any refugees at all into this country in the best interests of america? joining us now, senator lindsey graham of south carolina, also a republican presidential hopeful as well as senate armed services committee chairman john mccain. welcome to you both. senator mccain, first you. it sounds like the overwhelming majority of these refugees, at least the ones fleeing syria, are men, probably a lot of them are combatants. that makes sense. why is it in the interest of americans to have them come here? >> well, we have always welcomed refugees under certain circumstances, but, tucker, you

raised the salient question here is you've got to know who these people are. they have to be screened. they have to be carefully examined before they would have any chance of entering the united states. if i were mr. mabaghdadi, i mig be sending a few of my recruits as grefugees to be able to come to the united states. so before we do anything, i want to be sure there is a process that makes sure that they are not going to be people that endanger the country. >> right. >> one other point, tucker? >> yes. >> this is the result of a failure of leadership. this is the result of a failure of a feckless foreign policy that has caused the greatest humanitarian crisis since the end of world war ii. i want the problem solved, and that means destroying isis. that means unseating bashar assad, and that means getting a foreign policy and a strategy that will defeat the cause of this problem. >> right. that makes absolute sense.

senator graham, the u.s. has let in more refugees than any other country over the past 100 years. you're an american whose kids go to school and it's not that good and you already pay too much taxes, how will allowing refugees in improve your life? why should you be in favor of that? >> well, we're americans. we've taken 2,000 syrian refugees. 230,000 people have been killed in syria. women are being gang-raped by the thousands. so i would like to think that america is a special place, that americans have welcomed people in the past who have been fleeing oppression. go read what's on the statute of liberty. i want to balance our against -- our national security against our security. go read what's on statue of liberty. i want to do one thing, destroy isil. president obama's plans to destroy i sell are not working. nobody on our side has a plan

either. if i'm president of the united states, we're going to send more ground troops into iraq, we're going get a regional army up and go into syria with it, about 8,000 or 10,000 of us, and we're going to destroy the caliphate and push assad out to stop this. the you c tucker, the worst is yet to come if we don't do this. >> when you read stories about law enforcement in, say, minneapolis having to deal with people joining isis, that's a result of our refugee resettlement policy. you don't worry about that happening again or to a greater degree? >> i worry a great deal. i worry enormously. has i said, i want to make sure that anybody who comes into this country from anywhere under any circumstances but particularly this group of refugees, i think we should have a debate and discussion in the congress, not an arbitrary decision by president obama, i'm not for letting -- leashing a flood of refugees in this country.
