china. so i would look at this visit in that broad historical scope. the second thing that is interesting to me is that president obama has met with the chinese leadership more than any other president in american history. five times in three years. so, today's announcement really, i think, should be seen as yet another step in a pretty rapid and accelerating relationship with china. >> what is in it for china to cooperate here? >> everything. i mean, look. just -- let's tak world financial market. and whether -- they're linked. china's integration into the u.s. economy. remember, they've -- their direct investment in the united states over the last eight years has increased ten-fold. so, we're an important market for them. their stability is tied to ours,

and the last thing that either one of us needs is a conflict either in the south china sea or in any area where china has a presence. >> the two nations as partners, if the two were to partner, that would give us a lot of leverage over places like, well, russia, for instance. >> in russia, north korea. look, north korea, we talk about iran. north korea is the iranian nightmare realized in the sense that it's an isolated, irresponsible regime, with a nuclear weapon. so, china and the united states have a lot another stake in maintaining a peaceful korean peninsula, and we rely on them to hold the north korean regime in check. and climbed change. we are the two biggest economies in the world. the ozone is not going to last if we keep pumping carbon into the atmosphere. so, cooperation on that issue is absolutely essential.
