his three-city tour. fox news religion contributor jonathan morris joins us now. so good to see you, father jonathan. i want to talk about this first. as we just said, the pope touched on a potpourri of political issues including pro-life and encouraging congressional leaders to come together and do the work of the people, climate change. talk to me about how you think this will impact the dialogue on these issues as well as the direction these issues will take in the future. >> i think the message that pope francis left mostly with his actions, mostly with his actions, the way in which he treated people was do what you already know you should do. get back to basics. love people. lead with mercy, compassion. start with forgiveness. start with where we all are as a human community. then let's build up.

2002. good to see you. >> great seeing you. >> she says don't hold imup as a hero. put handcuffs on him and throw him in the pokey. why is that? >> for the simple reason he doesn't represent the people of iran. he represents a regime that under his watch, rouhani, have been 2,000 executions, many from public hanging. people have been jailed eed ove past few years. women are badly suppressed. there was an acid attack in a concentrated effort. about 25 women were attacked and no one was held accountable. religious minorities are held in jail, journalists, bloggers. iran is the biggest prison for jormists. >> what do you expect the u.n. to say about all this? >> i think the u.n. has the very similar general assembly has condemned the iran regime and rights violated last december. so he shouldn't be invited here to represent the people of iran

as she correctly said. >> but he is the president. >> well, he was president because the very system that is in place in iran is a theocracy that is not based on the word of the people. there's a council, a guardian council, that selects people who can actually run. and these are basically hand-picked people by the supreme leader allowing their network to vote for one or the other. this is not free elections. he does not represent the people of iran. >> we've seen dictators of course come to the u.n. before. we just saw a video of the prime minister of iran and john kerry. the nuclear agreement will come up. everyone talks about preventing them having a bomb but what about funding for terrorism? i want to play a clip about iran funding terrorism. >> the billions of dollars of money that pours into the regime's coffers as a result of this agreement will not be used

to improve the conditions of the iranian people but on the very terrorist objectives. >> she says the money will go to terrorism. john kerry says they've got a u.n. resolution that will prevent that. do you believe it? >> well, looking at the past history of what iran has been doing with the money, i think the history is more reliable. first of all, in terms of the economy, it's actually run by the revolutionary guard. so whoever is claiming that the money is going to improve the economy, remember, 50% of the gdp of iran is run by the revolutionary guard and they're basically tax exempt. the money is actually -- that's how they're funding the groups in lebanon, funding keeping assad in power, the militias in iraq and a whole host of terrorist groups around the world. >> do you think this agreement will stop that? >> it won't. to the contrary, i think because they may face some kind of limitations in nuclear area,
9:48 am
iran is likely to step up its efforts on the terrorism area and also the suppression domestically. >> what about the u.n. resolution? kerry says that will be prevented. but iran the first eight years violated six u.n. council resolution whz it came to enriching uranium. >> well, they didn't do anything unless you have actual mechanism to monitor and to catch them. there's no monitoring system. there's no system to actually watch them where the money goes. there has to be a u.n. system to mon monitor that. otherwise, the money will definitely go to fund terrorism. >> finally, tomorrow rouhani will speak. do you expect a protest against him outside? >> you know, there's thousands of people expected to appear right across from the u.n. pretty much around the time that rouhani is speaking saying that you say no to rouhani and yes to democracy in iran, saying this is time for regime change in iran by the iranian people, not
