>> to the weather now. flooding fears up and down the east coast in eaton, north carolina. this is a golf course. looks more like a lake after rain pounded the area. here in virginia you can see the truck struggling to move in the raging flood waters there. several roads in that state were closed. the east coast could be in for a 1-2 punch. tropical storm joaquin some in the atlantic. >> we have a lot going on weather wise across the eastern half of the nation. we are tracking a lot of tropical moisture impacting the area in the atlantic and in the gulf of mexico. that is leading to flooding concerns and the flooding that is going on over parts of virginia and north carolina. the biggest concern will be across parts of new england. we have a cold front moving eastward and interacting with all of that tropical moisture

and producing heavy rainfall rates. you can see the rain is coming down across parts of connecticut up to massachusetts and further north in to vermont. we will be looking at flooding concerns with flash flood watchies in effect. we are talking about specific rainfall totals because of all of the storms we are watching here over the next several days across the eastern u.s. with some models producing up to a foot of a rain. for now joaquin maximum winds at 47 miles per hour expected to make a northward turn. the big question becomes, before do we come up as we head into late this weekend and early next week. we will watch out for a possible u.s. land fall but we will keep you updated.

but some of the computer models have been hinting towards that. we have to continue to track this storm very, very carefully. i want to tell you where the storm is moving right now it is moving toward the bahamas. it doesn't hint towards impacting the parts of the northeast. it has turned northward and we are talking about big concerns over the northeast and mid atlantic. we already saw heavy amounts of rain. yesterday we are expecting more rain coming up this weekend with a lot of moisture in the tropics regardless of whether the storm makes land fall or not. the front right now is moving eastward across parts of the u.s. producing rain. potentially 4-6 inches of rainfall out there. here's the forecast for tropical joaquin. turning northward over the past two-days or so.
