both clinton and sanders have about $30 million in the bank. but what is clear is that every day he waits it will get harder for him to win if he runs. >> this is a horribly hard slog against -- it would be an wrup uplittle battle for him. i think he has less reason to get in now than he did a week ago, which doesn't neen he isn't going to do it. >> many in washington is waiting to see how hillary clinton performs thursday before the ben causey committee. she says they she will do the best to answer the questions. >> i really don't know what to expect. i have already testified about benghazi. i testified to the best of my ability before the senate and the house. i don't know that i have very much to add. this is after all the eighth investigation. >> so clinton is clearly very well versed on benghazi. but it appears as though this time around she's not taking any

chances. her campaign schedule is completely clear until this hearing on thursday, leaving her ample time to prepare for whatever questions come her way. >> and the biden wait continues. thank you. a fox news alert. secretary of state john kerry is ready for a new round of mediation for the middle east. kerry is hoping to ease tensions between israelis and palestinians. he'll meet with israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu and palestinian leader mahmoud abbas. 30 jewish worshippers were dismissed. conor powell is live in jerusalem with the latest. conor? >> reporter: kerry will meet with netanyahu early this week in germany, then will travel to the region to meet with abbas and the king of jordan. it's not clear where those
9:06 am
meetings actually take place. but he is expected to spend most of the week in the region. what exactly the secretary of state is expecting to accomplish by easing tensions here is not clear what all he can contribute to sort of reducing the tensions here. after several weeks of escalating violence with more than 20 stabbing attacks on israelis, things have calmed down a bit in the last 24 hours or so. but clashes between palestinians and israeli soldiers continue in the west bank. known to muslims as -- jews as the temple pount. in an effort to stop the stabbings, israel has introduced security measures around jerusalem, erecting checkpoints in the primarily palestinian neighborhoods of east jerusalem and large concrete walls between arab and israeli neighborhoods, going up in the last 24 hours or so.
9:07 am
meanwhile, israeli soldiers forcefully removed dozen of jewish worships earlier today. a biblical site torched by arabs a few days ago. jewish worshippers went there to pray but did not coordinate their security so the military forcibly removed them. a sign of really just how tense everything is between all different sides. you have a lot of tension here that hasn't fully gone away just yet. >> that's for sure. a holy conundrum. conor powell, thank you so much. back to the benghazi investigation, committee chairman republican congressman tray gowdy has been under fire. they argue the investigation is unfairly targeting hillary clinton. congressman gowdy says he's trying to get to the facts of the attack. there's a lot of anticipation as mrs. clinton is set to testify

this week. garrett tenny has the latest. >> in the benghazi attacks this morning on cbs's "face the nation" trey gowdy reiterated what he said before that hillary clinton is an important witness to talk to but she's just one part of their investigation. >> while violence was going up in libya, why was our security profile stay going down? in the past sheshgs has said, i had people in processes and in place to handle that. you also have people to handle drivel bruced by sydney blumenthal but that made it to your inbox. i want to know why certain things made it to the inbox but the pleadings of our ambassador that you put in place for more security never bothered to make it to your inbox. i think that's a fair question.

>> leading up to her appearance, hillary clinton and her campaign are attacking the credibility of the benghazi committee calling it nothing more than a political attack job designed to hurt her in the polls. >> i think it's a sad day for all of us because we made a commitment to the families. the families came in with tears in their eyes literally and said, please do not make this a political football. that's exactly what's happened. >> it's not clear if we'll actually hear anything new from hillary clinton in her testimony thursday. that appearance certainly could end up being the most important day of her presidential campaign. >> garrett, we'll wait for that on thursday. thank you. a fox news alert. the u.s. military reporting that a top al qaeda commander has been killed after u.s.-led air strikes in syria. elle nasr was the highest ranking neb of khorazan group.

another fox news alert. the first phase of the iranian nuclear deal taking effect today. president obama is set to sign that order that will issue waivers on sanctions against iran but they will only take effect if tehran lives up to its obligations under the agreement. this all comes as iranian scientists are supposed to thousands of centrifuges in storage, shift 12 tons of nuclear material out of the country and begin the dismantling of some of its nuclear program. will they actually follow through? former u.s. ambassador to the united nations john bolton is joining us, a fox news contributor. ambassador, do you think tehran will do what they're supposed to do? >> i have been predicting that iran would be ms. goody two shoes rigorously complying with the deal to meet its obligations and get the sanctions lifted.
9:11 am
i think beginning with adoption day a lot of these things are just a minute et of staging adod by the parties for political appearance sake. ironically, though, what iran has been doing in connection with the recent missile test, given statements that it's making that it actually wants the sanctions lifted possibly by the end of this year rather than playing out over an extended period, iran is actually behaving pretty brazenly. i think the reason for that is it sees the momentum, especially in european businesses, to get into the iranian market. and it thinks if it can get a clean bill of health from the iaea, which it should be able to do because there's not going to be any information for the iaea to contemplate, that iran may well think it again has the upper hand to get the assets unfrozen, get the sanctions lifted much quicker than washington previously thought. >> well, how could this happen? one of your own successors, u.s.
9:12 am
ambassador samantha power said the ballistic missile test violates the agreement in the security council. >> it doesn't violate the geneva agreement. it violates an earlier 1929 resolution that will be modified substantially when the geneva deal goes into effect. the iranians know what they've been dealing with. they've bulldozed the united states in years of negotiations as was perfectly predictable from their past behavior they're simply now rene negotiating the vienna deal whaxt they're using is the economic leverage that europeans see about getting into trade and investment contracts with iran. the sooner they can get in and make those contracts effective, the sooner their profits will begin. iran is teeing that up for them. >> you talk about iranian behavior. a "washington post" editorial today scathing dealing with the jason rezaian, a reporter still being held in iran, this is what "the washington post" says today. president obama afraid of owning

a foreign policy fiasco the way george w. bush, doing and saying little about politics. red line in syria, for example, have ended badly so obama disengages. he's been reluctant to take on russian aggression in ukraine or china expansionist and is vague about syria. they say the silence and ambiguity about america's position create more chaos and create the need for the intervention obama dreads. is this fair? he's keeping us out of a war. >> i wish it were only trying not to do what he thinks george w. bush would have done that's motivating obama. i think there's something much more profound here. i think he believes america has had too much involvement, too much influence in the middle east over the years. that's what underlay his idea that he and the united states would peer owe wet away from the middle east toward asia. i think obama believes the less american influence there is the
9:14 am
greater iran's influence the greater russia's influence, china, you name it, the more peaceful and stable the region will be. i think that's exactly backwards. but i think obama's pursuing a clear strategy here of reducing american involvement in the region. i think we'll all pay for that dearly in the years to come. >> and we'll see if iran eventually lives up to that agreement. ambassador, always good to see you. thank you. >> thank you. donald trump making his case for why he should be president. >> i don't want to say i want to be unpredictable because we need unpredictability. everything is so productable with our country. >> the gop front-runner sits down for an exclusive interview on fox news sunday. where he stands in the race right now. and a real-life monster disrupts the zombie convention. a tragedy in florida. we'll tell you about that coming up. >> four or five shots at the same time. pop pop pop pop pop. and the guy fall right there. right there in front of me. right here and the body is right

getting back to politics now, donald trump and jeb bush in a war of words as they battle for the gop nomination. trump sitting down exclusively with chris wallace on fox news sunday, the current front-runner making his case for why he should get the country's top job. >> i would be very, very strong on the debt limit and i would be asking for a very big pound of flesh if i were the republicans. and the problem with the republicans, they have two sides, the smaller side is very strong and the other side is always agreeing. you can't do that. >> meanwhile, another big name could soon be joining the fray. vice president joe biden reportedly telling top democrats that he is likely to jump into the race at some point over the next month. joining us now to discuss all of this is executive editor of the daily caller vince call anays.
9:22 am
vince, good to see you. >> thank you. >> we'll start with trump. how far with trump's policy on debt limits fly with the republican base? >> well, i thought that trump's appearance this morning with fox news sunday had a lot of something for everybody. this issue of the debt limit is going to be very appealing to conservatives who thought they could use the debt limit as leverage to get the policy prescription that's at the want. of course, republicans have been e ex-core yaited by democrats who say using the debt limit as leverage in any battle is political suicide and in many ways tant amount to holding the country ransom. but this is music to the ears to some strong conservatives who believe using any tool available to congress to get the policy prescriptions you want is a good thing. donald trump is definitely playing to a conservative base with that answer. >> chris wallace also asked donald trump about eminent domain. let's take a listen. >> do you support taking private
9:23 am
property for private -- >> if somebody has a property in the middle of a 7,000 job factory, as an example, that's going to move into the town but they need this one corner of this property and it's going to provide 7,000 jobs in a community that's dying of which we have many in this country, i am for that. >> how will mr. trump's answer be received, considering he is a major real estate developer? >> right. this is the opposite. this is not going to make a bunch of conservatives happy. in general, this is seen as a mortal sin of big government, where the government actually facilitates the seizure of private property to give it to another private property owner through whom by the way they think they'll generate more tax revenue usually. in this case, you have donald trump saying something that a lot of conservatives are going, wait a second, that is not how the government is supposed to operate. >> chris gave donald trump a chance too clarify his 9/11
9:24 am
comments. let's listen to that. >> i believe that if i were running things i doubt those families would have -- i doubt those people would have been in the country. so there is a good chance that those people would not have been in our country. with that being said, i'm not blaming xbrornlg of george bush, but i don't want jeb bush to say, my brother kept us safe, because september 11th was one of the worst days in the history of this country. >> so did trump give chris wallace a better answer contextually? >> i don't know if he's even really clarified his position at this point. he claims that george w. bush was president on 9/11 and therefore the attacks happened on his watch. but he's saying i'm not blaming him. so i don't think donald trump has really nailed down what his real answer is on this. he's sort of just floating it out there and hoping people take it however they feel like they want to. >> let's talk about vice president biden, that he may get into the race sometime soon. i want to talk about how a run by the vp would affect the race
9:25 am
and also consider this. hillary has a strong head-start. she crushed it at the first democratic debate but most all accounts. so what is the most effective strategy for vice president biden to play catch-up? >> well, at this point, it's unclear. the most effective strategy i think would have been to get into the race several weeks ago. we have now joe biden sitting on the side lines undecided. you have to ask the question why. why is he not rulie inroeg him outself? what does he know that we don't? this man is vice president of the united states. there are four concurrent investigations into hillary clinton right now that we know of. one of those is being conducted by the fbi, the president said earlier this week that he thought that there was no national security risk inside of that information suggesting he knows the details of that investigation. by the way, the fbi reports to him ultimately. joe biden is in those conversations. what does he know? is there something disqualifying in there? >> to your point, apparently the
