5:00 pm
we were in "the line of fire" and he didn't like the way washington worked and i'll say this about the nbc thing. >> we're running out of time. can't have it. >> all right. good-bye. hi. i'm eric bowling in for bill o'reilly, for the an o'reilly factor election 2016. those on top of the gop polls don't have what it takes to be president. >> my great concern is that we are on the verge, perhaps, of picking someone who cannot do this job. i've watched to see people say that we should dismantle medicare and medicaid and leave our senior citizens out in the cold. i've heard them talk about deporting 10 or 11 million
5:01 pm
people out of this country, splitting families and i've heard about tax schemes that don't add up and put kids in a deeper hole than where we are today. we need somebody who can lead? donald trump took that as an attack on his own candacy and responded about thoughts about his own, about governor kasich. >> he was very unsuccessful and every commentator, even the haters and losers that i read all of the time they said that he was put down so strongly that for the rest of the debate he was just sort of limping along. he hit me at the beginning of the debate. i hit him much harder than he ever thought possible including the fact that he worked for lehman brotherses who took down the world. this guy was working for lehman brotherses when it collapsed. >> joining us from los angeles is john kasich himself. governor, you stand by that statement that republicans are on the verge of nominating someone incapable of being an effective president. >> well, look, eric. the problem is i'm worried about my party and being able to win the white house and also having good policy.
5:02 pm
when you say that you may do away with medicare or medicaid or make it an option, that is just a ridiculous kind of proposal. it won't work, and i just looked at the tax scheme of the person that just was speaking, and i found out that even under a model that requires dynamic scoring he's $10 trillion in the hole. i'm not going to add 10 trillion to my 16-year-old's bill, and then to say we're going to ship 10 million or 11 million people out of this country, leaving families divided, that's not -- first of all, it's not good policy and it's not how we're going to win. i have a plan -- >> it's resonating with the voters. you're seeing the poll numbers and everyone says it will be the summer of trump and the fall of trump and it's not happening yet. >> everything is not about polls. it's about leading this country. i have a program that will create jobs, that will cut taxes, that will provide common sense regulations and shift power, money and influence back to people and eric, look, there
5:03 pm
is another issue here. that is the issue of rebuilding neighborhoods and strengthening our families, and if we don't have a leader that can articulate all of that and show people that really understands their problems then i think it's hard for us to win, and i want conservatism to prevail, but wild schemes do not get it done. you know what i hear from people? thank goodness somebody stood up and they're providing leadership on the stage. >> well, you know, you stood up, governor and donald trump went right at you. he hit you hard and frankly, after that no one else on that stage was willing to take the shot at trump. in fact, huckabee said he was wearing a trump tie. >> well, first of all, i kept at it and secondly, let me just give you an example. he said i was on the board of lehman brothers. that's wrong. i wasn't on the board of lehman brothers. i ran a two-man office in columbus, ohio. if i bankrupted lehman brothers from a two-man office i should be pope, not president. i signed a deal with ford in 2011 -- >> listen to this.
5:04 pm
>> okay. go ahead. >> i signed a deal in 2011 to bring jobs back from mexico. he's trying to take credit for it. look, my fight's not with donald. he can do what he wants to do. i just want us to have a solid program to lift america, to make sure people who live in the shadows are not left behind and we can renew the spirit of this country through our families and neighborhoods. that's what i want to see happen. >> i wanted to hear that from you and the other candidates at the cnbc debate. they promised us we would hear about the money, the economy, and the jobs and we didn't hear any of that. we heard fantasy football and how's your comic book character, and you say that you were appreciative of the cnbc moderators and how they handled the debate. how can you be appreciative and the rest of them had a horrible time with them? >> look, i've always been a republican that's willing to step on toes. for me in the debate i got to speak more than i was able to in the second debate and frankly, i
5:05 pm
thought the first debate was good. they didn't ask me any questions that were beneath me or i felt were below the belt. let me tell you this, i told sean hannity and i'll tell you, i rather come on with you and spend 15 minutes with you asking me any tough question you want to and people can find out who i am. harry truman could not be elected president on a 30-second response. >> what's your biggest weakness? which other candidate is crazy. one about the import/export banks, student loans and marijuana. those aren't tough questions. how do you explain to the voters and the gop that we're against everything obamacare and yet you took money from obamacare and how do you handle the obamacare subsidy in ohio. how do where you answer that? >> first of all, medicare is a program for the poor, okay? and i took the growth of it from 10% to 2.5% and we didn't cut one benefit nor did we take anybody off the roles and what we learned from that is health
5:06 pm
care reform which is about providing quantity, not quality health care, and i have a plan to replace it so that people don't lose health insurance. you can't just say you're going to get rid of obamacare without having a viable alternative so that we can begin to reduce the cost of health care, but make sure that people don't lose their health coverage. >> i interview a lot of candidates and i talk to a lot of people and the perception is that kasich, we love him, but he's more of an establishment candidate. how are you going to find and get the voter that's anti-establishment and they're flocking to the anti-establishment right now. >>er i eric, i'm both an inside outside player and i've been a reformer, and i'm stepping on republican toes right now and people are, like, why is he saying this? when you balance the federal budget you step on a lot of toes and i know how to get the country moving and shift the power back so people can raise up and begin to solve things in their neighborhoods. that's what i want, and eric, in order to do it it takes reform,
5:07 pm
but you need to know how to do it. you just can't make promises that will not come true. it will create more cynicism in the minds of the voters and i'll tell you what i'm afraid of. with plans that don't add up, hillary clinton would be president and to me that is not good for america and i'm doing this because i want us to win. >> governor, thank you very much for joining us tonight. the republicans are taking major action with nbc over what they said was an unfair debate this week. we'll tell you all about that coming up next. nexium 24hr is the new #1 selling frequent heartburn brand in america. i hope you like it spicy! get complete protection with the purple pill. the new leader in frequent heartburn. that's nexium level protection.

>> i've asked my staff to reach out to all of the staffs of all of the other candidates, and let's talk about a different type of tomorrow at, perhaps something where you have two, three, four, five minutes to talk about your policies, about your tax approximately spolicie questioned about them. >> in response the republican national committee took major action announcing it was suspending its relationship with nbc news for its scheduled february 25th debate in houston. nbc replied by saying it expected to resolve the matter in further discussions with the rnc. joining us now with reaction here in new york is jessica tarlove, democratic strat just and co-host of fox news outnumbered and andrea, what do you make of the announcement? would it lead to a change in the structure? >> i thought reince priebus would fix this when he came into office. he would renegotiate the contracts because the last time
5:12 pm
in 2012 it was a debacle and eric, what did they expect? it's nbc, cnbc, you know what you're going to get with them, and look, i don't think it's a good stance for the gop to be whining. the party is so bogged down with this message right now of they were mean to us. i don't think it's a winning message. i don't. i think they do have to do something to fix this because it is a disaster, but i will say this, eric. the candidates did benefit the other night. they benefited because they were able to shine with those questions. ted cruz never looked better. >> same with rubio. >> they had a viable energy and they united the party. >> the ones that can think on their feet quickly, they did shine and took shots at the media. >> erica, i look at the dnc debate schedule and i see cnn, cbs and pbs, you know what's missing from the dnc? the debates. >> fox. >> yes. >> on the left, the democrats won't come to fox to do a deb e
5:13 pm
debate. >> we put ridiculous limits on how many we'll have in the first place and debbie wasserman schulz have ruled from above even if it's just hillary and bernie talking all night. so i think that we should have more debates. i think we should have a fox debate. mostly i wish journalists would not have a bias when asking questions and we could stick to the appropriate topics. >> and you say the republicans shouldn't complain, don't whine, i think you said, but think about it, there were some -- i think the media research center did a study, of the 43 unique questions, two-thirds of them were either negative or having them attack at one of the candidates. i'm a candidate, i'm not sure i want that. >> candidates whining isn't a good stance. the candidates themselves should be on the offense and not the defense. let their surrogates whine and let them complain. cnbc was exposed and they looked nasty and unprepared and candidates should be focusing on their message and not poor little me. look, if you can't handle those questions, some of the
5:14 pm
candidates did, others did not do well, then they shouldn't be in office. reagan had tremendous media bias. tremendous. he didn't complain. he really just kicked their butts and that's what i think the republicans need to do. the rnc should have fixed this a long time ago. there was no excuse, eric. it is unforgivable that they let this happen. >> before you answer that i want to do something else. i want to look at jeb bush. jeb bush apparently is having a great time on the candidacy. >> you told donors today on a conference call that you said you'll get better at this. what will you do to get better at this? >> look, we have eight more debates and i'll have to do what other candidates do which is rudely interrupt, not answer the questions that are asked and hopefully the debate moderators will hopefully ask more substantive questions, as well. it's going fine. >> are you having any fun? >> oh, yeah. you saw it. i'm having lots of fun. >> was that snarkiness?
5:15 pm
>> we have a sense of humor at this point. i know he has a good fantasy football team. >> jeb bush is polling at 6%. it's not good and he was supposed to be the establishment darling and now we're looking at marco rubio and they're saying rubio and cruz took it that night and jeb bush says they need to get better at this and says i have cooler things to do than this. is this dead candidate walking? >> i think he'll have a lot of free time to do all of those very cool things. having fun, i've seen people have more fun at a colonoscopy. i don't think he's having fun at all, and it's probably realistic that he's not having fun because eric, he has this much money and over $100 million war chest and he still can't go up in the polls and he's not prepared and it's not just bad timing that people don't want another bush, he's just not a great candidate. >> we have some news, bush's chief operating officer christine chacon, i believe is her name, she resigned.
5:16 pm
it's her fault. >> tough changes. >> they're always going to blame someone until they finally blame the candidate. >> chief operating officer? that's where you'll go? >> i'm not sure. campaign manager, and i think it's him in the end that will have to fold and even for the sake of unity at the party and he's picking up a lot of money to have a chance at beating hillary clinton come next november. >> when the staff becomes the story it's rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic. you called it. that campaign is in hospice. they're going to have to pull the plug, i hate to say it. >> when you're not having fun it shows. >> peggy noonan said in the wall street journal, not ready for prime time. are the establishment hacks going to stop chilling for him now? >> okay. all right. thank you, angie. >> thank you very much. next on the rundown, the fbi director says the crime rate is up in part because under siege. well, that doesn't stop hillary clinton from calling for more police reforms and ed henry will

in the unresolved, police under siege. police have been under intense scrutiny for much of the obama years after groups like black lives matter and other far left operations have staged a series of anti-cop demonstrations alleging their cops unfairly brutalized minorities. the republican candidates have been clear that they stand with the police. >> no. the fbi director, the president's appointed fbi director has said this week that because of a lack of support from politicians like the president of the united states, that police officers are afraid to get out of their cars, that they're afraid to enforce law and he says the president's appointee, that crime is going
5:21 pm
up because of this. this president has failed and when i'm in the oval office police officers will know that they will have the support of the president of the united states. >> hillary clinton weighed in on the topic today and calleded for a number of policing reforms. >> now, my friends, i am going to get to some very important points that actually prove that black lives do matter and we have to take action together! >> african-american men are far more likely to be stopped and searched by police, charged with crimes and sentenced to longer prison terms than white men convicted of the same offenses. >> joining us now from washington, ed henry who covers the hillary campaign for fox news. so, ed, does hillary see criticizing cop says as a winning political issue? >> i'm sure she would reject the idea she's criticizing cops. she's supporting the black lives matter movement, of course, and they've been in a pitch battle
5:22 pm
with police. so people are going to choose sides there and they're going to perceive that maybe she's not defending law enforcement enough and she'll certainly say she's not picking on police, and what i think she's doing very clearly politically is she's trying to create an insurance policy here. you have super tuesday on march 1st. she was talking today in georgia and one of the states where voters will go to the polls on march 1st and that's one of the first big states where there will be african-american voters turning out in large numbers unlike iowa and new hampshire, and bernie sanders doesn't do very well right now at least in the polls with african-american voters. >> so -- so, so shore up the african-american vote by criticizing police and saying we need more police reforms? >> well, the part that you're saying, though, she in her remarks did not criticize the police. now, her critics might perceive that, but she's certainly standing up for the black lives matter movement. she keeps saying it again and
5:23 pm
again, and ironically today at one of her events in georgia she was interrupted by black lives matter protesters who felt that what she was saying was not good enough and they want her to go each further and there is clear tension and no doubt about it. >> bill de blasio came out and endorsed hillary clinton. is this is a good thing where the mayor has had a contentious relationship with the nypd? does she want to have bill de blasio hitching his wagon to her? >> because of that tension that's something the clinton camp wants to avoid. on the other hand, they were concerned that de blasio and other progressive leaders could potentially go with bernie sanders. it was unlikely de blasio would because remember, he ran her senate campaign way back in 2000 in new york and while there was perceived to be some tension recently with herri dragging ou this endorsement. nobody believed he would go with bernie sanders with his position
5:24 pm
with the police and his position on tax, for example, some of that has blown up in his face and that's why he's struggled in the polls in new york and an endorsement that might have mattered more in a different time in a dint race, the new york mayor endorsement probably doesn't matter that much. >> we've had another release of hillary clinton's emails. anything significant? >> what is significant is there are 300 more emails that have classified information. remember at the beginning of this hillary clinton said in march on. >> 300 more? 300 more? >> 300 more on top of the hundreds that we've seen in previous document dumps. the state department, we should be fair, are saying these are being classified after the fact in which she either sent or received these emails they're not classified and critics say that's nonsense and she should have known in realtime that this was sensitive information and when she said in march there is no classified information she didn't know that. >> what's worse, ed? that she lied about it knowing
5:25 pm
it was classified information or she didn't know? how out there can you be that you wouldn't know some of this stuff is classified? >> you know what's interesting behind the scenes is she continues to say that the media doesn't care about this and voters don't care about it and it's just the press, and i was in new hampshire with her on tuesday and at an event a voter came up and interrupted one of her events and asked her a question and said benghazi deleted emails. ho how can you eliminate corruption. it shows voters care. >> i love the pocket hanke, too. by the way. >> thank you very much. plenty more as the factor moves along. direct directly ahead, immigrants are coming to america to get welfare. we'll tell you about that coming up next opinion plaque psoriasis... ...isn't it time to let the... ...real you shine... ...through? introducing otezla, apremilast.

5:30 pm
and i would go further than the executive orders than president obama has signed when i'm president. >> that's all very interesting given the associated press reported this week that it obtained homeland security documents that showed immigrants are coming to america because they believe they will be able to stay in america and receive welfare. so is hillary pushing immigration reform to help hard workers and is it part of the democrats more aggressive agenda to gain voters. democratic strategist denise fuentes and mercedes slat. what's hillary's immigration plan all about? what's the bottom line and what is she going after? >> let me tell you, eric. it's about politics. pure politics. in 2003 she was on a radio interview and she adamantly opposed illegal immigration and now when she's running for president she knows the fact that obama won 71% of the hispanic vote and she's decided
5:31 pm
let me flip-flop here a bit and make it clear that my message is that i will take the unilateral action that president obama did that the majority of the voters disagreed with and guess what? i'll take it a step further and it is very clear that this is pure politics to gain the hispanic voter. >> do you agree that it is just political or an act of love? >> think it's a combination of both and you would like to caution viewers that none of the immigrants are eligible to vote. i think it's trying to fix a problem that's been broken for a long time. i think that latinos know the law. they're not ignorant. they're latinos, but they're not ignorant. they're not stupid. let's make a big distinction. if you come to this country undo you meaned they're aware that if you make a case for asylum and refugee status you will be listened, you will have a claim and they're aware that the courts have established that it is in no one's best interest to
5:32 pm
hold women and children for a long time and it's expensive and not effective. >> it's also very expensive when there's two or three or 400,000 people coming across the border illegally and then we have to pick up the health care for them and we have to pick up food stamps for them. go ahead, mersd cedes. >> they're also aware and primarily for central america which is a different policy than the mexican is they do have a legal right to the beportation hearings and there is a backlog. the mere fact that they know that they can stay here and wait and don't have to go through the legal process and the fact that our government and this administration is sending them mixed messages that even the central american president who has come out ask said you know what, president obama? your policy is ambiguous. >> stay with me for a second. think about this. in order for a republican to win the presidency you have to nail down 30% of the hispanic vote. >> even higher than that. >> say 40%. how is a republican ever going
5:33 pm
to win if you have hillary clinton demonizing the stance and immigration and basically telling them if you vote republican you will never have anyone that you want over here able to vote and you'll never have your say in america. >> here's the deal. i think that you'll find republicans like us, governor jeb bush, like a senator, marco rubio that are able to have this conversation about immigration in a way that we can view it from a humane approach, from the fact that, look, we want an immigration system that works. we want the illegal immigrants to come to this country apply legally through our system and not through the chaos that is illegal immigration and the border is secured,as well. you have to talk about it in a way that look, there is a process and there are laws we need to follow. >> janice, think about this, you have hillary clinton on one side and then on the other side you have ted cruz. you have jeb bush who married a
5:34 pm
hispanic and marco rubio. you have a choice of hispanic either blood or heritage or marriage on the right. >> no. shame on marco rubio because he did nothing while he was actually in the senate to help immigration or to further the cause on the senate side. i don't think so. i think to mercy's point, i think what's important here is she mentioned the central american countries that are at stake, where they're coming from. they're not coming from nicaragua, and they're coming north and they're coming from honduras and el salvador. we need to engage with those governments and work forward in collaboration so that we can help the economy and make them more stable so they're not getting killed, raped and extorted. >> the governments of the countries that you're pointing out are actually helping, they're actually suggesting people leave their countries and emigrate to the united states. you can get free stuff. >> we don't have any evidence of
5:35 pm
that, but my point is still valid, even if that were true, we need to pay attention to what's going on in our own do you engage a government that says go ahead. go north and go to america and get this stuff. i have to leave it right there. i know, it's a heated debate and i apologize. thank you very much. up ahead, gop candidates, donald trump, chris christie, ben carson and marco rubio all entered the no-spin zone this week and we'll show you what they had to say up next.

thanks for staying with us for this election 2016 factor special. i'm eric bolling in for bill o'reilly. the gop debates always shake up the dynamics of the election and this week was no different. donald trump, chris christie, ben carson and marco rubio all joined the factor to assess the situation. check it out. >> do you believe that before the debate started the cnbc crew sits in a room and says let's get these guys? >> i probably do think that, bill, but i really don't care. i mean, whatever it is it is. you go up there. you do your job. they came at me a little bit strong. they came at a couple of others
5:40 pm
stronger, in some cases much stronger than shea should have, but i was fine with it. i actually liked my answers when they came at me. >> i want to play you a sound bite they thought was a very interesting part of the debate right now. roll tape. >> the leading republican candidate when you look at the average of national polls right now is donald trump. when you look at him do you see someone with the moral authority to unite the country? [ boog ing. >> the last thing i need is to give him more time. i love donald trump, he is a good man. i'm wearing a trump tie tonight. get over that one. >> such a nasty question, but thank you, governor. >> they cut away to the wrong governor. >> it was a nasty question. i don't know what that mean, moral authority. i don't know what that means at all, it wasn't clarified. what do you think he was trying to do there? >> he didn't have to bring it up and he goes to another person and goes to another person on moral authority.
5:41 pm
