back of the book segment tonight this quentin tarantino is not dying down he blamed american police officers in being murderers in generalkz terms. in the today's "the washington post" the.t(x article says nonsense indicates 8 5% of all police shootings are justified and they are rare as well. it seems mr. tarantino is in very bad place if facts mean anything. joining us now from los angeles paul bond the west coast business editor for the hollywood reporter. here in new york city senior editor at "intouch weekly." the police unions acrossuaañ the country are saying don't go to tarantino's movies.
5:50 pm
that's where this is coming from now. do you believe it's going to hurt his business? >> you know, i know you don't like cliches but it's been said so many times quentin tarantino is no stranger to controversy. there has been controversy that has followed him throughout so many of his movies the use of the n word was notl very popular with a the lot of people. spike lee was not happy with that he just did an interview about a month ago where he talked about gender and race implying that kathleen bigelow maybe won the oscar because she was a woman direct ago war movie. he is always involved in controversy and it never seems to effect him. >> this time it's different. you know it's different. >> this is different. getting more publicity for sure. >> americans are overwhelmingly supportive of the police. when you do what he did mr. bond four days after a new york city police officer, black man was murdered and he comes to new york city and he says that, that isn't something -- look, i forgot a lot of the stuff that kim just mentioned. i forgotñp it. all right? they don't -- they are not going to forget this. so i think that this may very well hurt him.
5:51 pm
>> well, and the difference here is it's an organized effort to hurt him. people want to hurt him. they want to strike back. he hates them, so they want to hit him back. this might be the biggest organized boycott effort in hollywood history. >> who do you think is behind it in the police unions and organizations are driving it publicly do you think there is somebody else behind it. >> no. i don't think there is anybody else behind it i think 7%7rq said really touched a nerve for cops. you know, he keeps trying to backtrack a little bit now saying that hey i wasn't talking about all cops. well dew. tell us the cops you are talking about and maybe do a little research and find out if the activists you are aligning yourself with are telling the truth. >> he is certainly not doing that. is he appearing on a couple of left wing shows that have been anti-cop and that's not going to do him any good if he wants to apologize or clarify his opinion. see, i know -- i don't know tarantino. and ifób think he is a pretty good director. i mean, his movies are
5:52 pm
absolutely provocative and stimulating. >> he has won oscars. >> as i said when this initially broke he lives in own. i don't think when quentin tarantino said that that he had any idea the repercussions of his words. do you believe that? >> you are right. because he is doing these interviews so it seems like he has to go back and maybe not backtrack because he is not apologizing he did put out these statements. is he cooking these interviews reaching out to more sympathizing audiences. >> that's not going to do any do you feel that others in hollywood live in the real world? >> you speak to them. i don't think they do. i don't think they have any idea how their word affect people. >> they're very rich they're very powerful.
5:53 pm
they're surround by the same people. it's people who chant about killing cops and, you know that all cops should be dead. he doesn't realize that people people are out in the mainstream. he thinks everybody agrees with him. and he probably was a little shell-shocked. >> it's amazing, the guy can be that successful and not understand the tempo of the country. >> do you think this is going to hurt his christmas movie release? >> it may affect it. 35% of republicans and 20% of democrats actually take the politics of the film maker in mind before they see the movie. >> do you believe it? >> it could, though a lot of his films make a lot of money overseas where boycotts here in the united states may not affect it. >> factor tip of the day, ohio saying no to legalized marijuana.

want to be an adult. >> try to be fair to all the candidates, but tough. patrick withholding his last name. bill, how dare you put the faces of convicted drug dealers on the screen when you do nothing about hillary clinton and eric holder running guns and backing drug cartels. >> you know you may want to chat with somebody that's looking out for you. >> charlie brown doesn't have a black girlfriend. big deal. fat albert never had a white girlfriend. stuart johnston charlie brown's love interest is a redhead. orange is the new red. >> those complaining about lack of social diversity must be suffering from peanuts envy. good one, karen. you can hardly call me a fan being a gay democrat.
5:58 pm
but i must give you kudos for the clever spot on fallon. you're a real pistol when it comes to nailing the truth. i was nervous to reading inging "killing reagan" because it captures the entire man, not just glorifying it. what a nice letter, amy. and thank you for reading my book. bill, my husband brought "killing reagan" on my cruise to bermuda and ignored my pleas to play bingo. that's not right, marlene. bingo on the ocean, you've got to have it. shame on him. factor tip of the day, ohio says no to pot. >> and it was by a landslide. yesterday's vote on legalization 64%, just 36% in favor. ohio joins florida and arkansas in the recent noes against legalized medical marijuana.
5:59 pm
now, i think it's a cultural thing. in the south and midwest, traditional values are held with more esteem. drug use is considered to be bad, generally speaking. hoo's the factor tip of the day. the more sobriety there is in any society, the stronger that society will be. period. congratulations. and that is it for us tonight. please check out the fox news factor web site. also please spout off about the factor from anywhere in the world. we. >> the word of the day. mordacious. good word. now, tomorrow night, 9:15, p.m. eastern time. we will have a town hall meeting about "killing reagan." you want to know anything about it don't like it love it whatever we'll be streaming,
