disturbing new details on what investigators are finding on the black boxes from that russian plane crash in egypt. good evening, everyone. i'm julie banderas. this is "the fox report." >> they are still in the phase of writing the transcripts, which will take time to finalize. a noise was heard in the last second of the recording. >> a noise just before the plane broke apart over egypt's sinai peninsula, killing all 224 people onboard. well, sources today telling fox news there is evidence that suggests that the damage is consistent with a, quote,

high-end explosive device. meanwhile, egypt's foreign minister accusing western governments of acting rashly in these early stages of the investigation, and not sharing intelligence with cairo. john hutti has more from our mideast newsroom. >> reporter: julie, the team oaf investigators said that, quote, all scenarios remain on the table as to what caused the russian airliner crash, but he stopped short of saying it was a bomb. the head of egypt's investigation committee said something may have exploded, but that it could have been, among other things, lithium batteries or a fuel tank. there is one very important clue, though, that he confirmed. >> a noise was heard in the last second of the recordings. a spectral analysis will be carried out by specialized labs in order to identify the nature of this noise. >> but both u.s. and british

intelligence officials maintain that all signs still point to a bomb. there have been reports about isis chatter after the crash. militants boasting about taking the plane down. isis's sinai branch claim responsibility this week, something egypt's president called, quote, propaganda. and egypt's foreign minister accused foreign governments of, he says, acting rashly in the wake of the crash and complain about intelligence not being shared with egyptian officials and investigators. all this as bad weather has hampered investigative efforts at the crash site the past few days. the debris was spread out over an eight-mile area, and egyptian officials say that's consistent with the plane disintegrating before pieces fell to the ground. and thousands of tourists, both russian and british, remain stranded at sharm el sheikh airport in egypt, while several hundred of those citizens have taken charter flights home, british officials say that it could take up to 10 days to get the rest back to the

uk. julie? >> john huddy, thank you. fox news is america's election headquarters. republican presidential candidate dr. ben carson speaking out about the media's reporting of his past and says that in the end, it will only make him stronger. >> my prediction is that all you guys trying to pile on is actually going to help me. because when i go out to these book signings and see these thousands of people, they say, don't let the media get you down. don't let them disturb you. please continue to fight for us. they understand that this is a witch hunt. >> garrett tenny has more tonight from washington. >> reporter: julie, we saw a different side of ben carson last night as he defended himself against what he's calling a witch hunt by the media. part of carson's appeal is his incredible personal story, rising from poverty in detroit to becoming a world renowned surgeon. now, the republican candidate is pushing back, after several news

outlets this week began questioning parts of his childhood narrative. >> but i think what it shows, and these kinds of things show, is that there is a desperation on behalf of some to try to find a way to tarnish me, because they have been looking through everything. >> this week, cnn said it founded no support for a story from carson's childhood, 50 years ago, that he once attempted to stab a cousin. last night the republican candidate called the investigation ridiculous. >> why would they remember that? i mean, i think that is, you know, as a scientist who does investigations, that is the most lame investigation i have ever seen. where you get people and you find people that -- random people in the neighborhood who knew me. well, you obviously must know about that specific incident. >> reporter: carson then defended himself over a story politico published, initially claiming he'd fabricated a story about being offered a scholarship to west point.

while the website later walked back on those claims, carson called the attack a bald-faced lie and evidence of a double standard. >> i do not remember this level of scrutiny for one president barack obama when he was running. his records are sealed. why are his records sealed? why are you guys not interested in why his records are sealed? why are you not interested in that? >> in the end, carson says he's not worried about these attacks hurting him in the polls and says that he knows what those in the media are trying to do. this morning, carson's campaign manager told us, you can expect to see a new ben carson at the debate this thursday on fox business network. >> a busy weekend on the campaign trail for republicans until only days until the next debate that will air on the fox business network. a new poll shows a virtual dead heat at the top. donald trump leads, but dr. ben carson is only three points back with the margin of error. marco rubio, ted cruz, and jeb

bush rounding out the top five. meanwhile, democratic candidates ben carson and hillary clinton campaigning today in south carolina. clinton addressed gun control with the state's legislative black caucus, saying it must be a voting issue. >> we need universal background checks for real. we need to close the gun show loophole. we need to close the online loophole, because people are buying guns and ammunition online. you have no idea who they are and we know some of the masked murderers, that's how they got what they used to kill people. >> kristen fisher is live in washington tonight. kristen, there's been a whole lot of talk about marco rubio's personal finances, but today his campaign is trying to set the record straight, right? >> reporter: yes, and just in time for the next debate. rubio's campaign just released his credit card statements from 2005 and 2006. so this is a republican party of florida american express card. well, it turns out he only spent about $65,000 on party business over two years.

that's far less than expected. now, he did make eight personal purchases on that same card for a total of $7,200, but rubio's campaign says he reimbursed all of those personal expenses. quote, these statements are more than ten years old and the only people who asked about them today are the liberal media and our political opponents. we are releasing them now because marco has nothing to hide. now, rubio will be on the main stage at next tuesday's debate, but chris christie and mike huckabee did not make the cut. they'll be in the earlier debate. but lindsey graham and george pataki for the first time are out of both debates because they did not get 1% of the vote in any of the four polls that were counted to qualify. julie? >> and what are the democratic candidates up to this weekend? >> martin o'malley is in iowa. bernie sanders and hillary clinton are in iowa. clinton spent the day talking about her new policies like cutting prison time for nonviolent offenders and reducing mandatory minimum sentences. and she wants to limit federal

two officers fired into the father's vehicle in the first place. now, here's what we do know. investigators say these two officers were moonlighting as marshals. they were driving marked cars and turned on their lights to get the boy's father to pull over. but he did not. will karr live from our west coast newsroom tonight. so will, what led authorities to arrest the two officers? >> reporter: good evening, julie. this morning, the colonel of the louisiana state police department emphatically told me that 6-year-old jeremy mardis should never have died. mardis, who his family members say is autistic, was shot five times in the head and chest. initially the officers in question say they were serving a warrant on mardis' father, chris few, and few led in his suv. but now investigators say they're not sure a warrant ever even existed. the officers, norris greenhouse and derrick stafford, said few tried to back into them with the car, so they fired, unloading 18

shots in total. authorities say few did not have any weapons in the car and they're still trying to figure out why the officers turned him over in the first place. both officers turned themselves over on friday and one key piece of evidence against them, video from at least one body camera. >> both of those individuals, derrick stafford, and norris greenhouse, both will be booked on one count of second-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder. as i told you, we took some of the body camera footage. let me tell you something, i'm not going to talk about it, but i'm going to tell you this. it is the most disturbing thing i've seen. and i will leave it at that. >> we're told that video will not be made public anytime in the near future, because right now, it is evidence. as for few, he's in a local hospital in serious condition, because he was shot twice. the funeral for his son, jeremy, will be held monday. >> it's just really hard to believe. >> what else do we know about

these officers and their histories, because they don't necessarily have clean slates. >> yeah, that's absolutely right. you mentioned at the top, they were moonlighting as marshals. well, in that area, that's something that can be common for law enforcement officers as a side job, to be doing that and be serving is warrants. now, that's what we believe they were doing. at the same time, we are learning more about their background. according to local news station katc, lieutenant stafford has five pending civil lawsuits against him right now. he was also indicted for aggravated rape in 2011. officer greenhouse has been named in several lawsuits as well. also, there were two other officers on the scene that day. neither have been cleared at this point. investigators say they will follow this case wherever it takes them. and again, the colonel of the louisiana state police told me this morning, he said that these two officers tarnished their badges when they shot and killed that 6-year-old boy last tuesday. jillian? >> so tragic. thank you so much, will carr. well, the dallas cowboys apparently standing behind defensive lineman greg hardy

after his graphic pictures of his bruised ex-girlfriend, surfaced online. we will not show you the pictures here, but the photos are reportedly from an alleged incident of domestic violence back in 2014. now, a judge originally convicted hardy, but the case was tossed out on appeal, when the ex-girlfriend didn't testify. prosecutors say the two reached a financial settlement. well, the incident was expunged from hardy's record this week. so in a statement, cowboy's owner jerry jones says, and i quote, we have given gregg a second chance. he is a member of our team and someone who is grateful for the opportunity he has been given to move forward with his life and his career. well, the nfl, of course, has faced intense criticism for its handing of domestic violence cases. the league originally has suspended hardy for ten games. an arbitrator later reduced that to four. well, crews working to

i'm julie banderas. this is "the fox report." it's the bottom of the hour. if you're just joining us, a noise captured on data recorders moments before a russian plane broke apart over egypt's sinai peninsula. investigators stopping short of saying the noise was the sound of a bomb going off. the evidence does suggest a high-end explosive did bring that plane down with 224 people onboard one week ago. and after nearly two years and more than 1,100 deaths, the ebola epidemic has been reduced to just a few cases in a village in guinea. that is where the deadliest ebola outbreak in history began. the prime minister scolding the population, demanding they cooperate with efforts to wipe out the virus. and the prosecutor in the osu parade crash investigation wants a judge to seal the defendant's

mental health records. she's accused of plowing into a crowd of spectators, killing four people, and injuring dozens of others. well, the prosecutor says her defense team appears to be trying to be prejudice and prejudice a potential jury pool by discussing her mental health. live from new york, it is presidential candidate donald trump. trump set to appear tonight on "saturday night live," and we already have this teaser picture. that's a good look for him. of course, "snl" has a long history of lampooning political candidates, but tonight will be unpress didnceden unprecedented, for sure. he is only the second presidential candidate to ever host a show while they were actively campaigning. the other was al sharpton back in 2003. trump's appearance tonight is also a controversial one. several latino groups are protesting, calling on the network to, quote, do away with hate and dump trump.

brian llenas is live from outside 30 rockefeller center in new york city. and you know what, "snl" is getting exactly what they wanted, a lot of attention and most likely a lot of viewers tonight, as they've been touting that the ratings are going to be "huge"! what's the atmosphere like out there tonight? >> reporter: that's right, julie. that's exactly right. right now there are about 200 protesters from about a dozen latino organizations. they have been out here. they started at trump tower and now they are outside of nbc headquarters here in rockefeller center. they have signs that say "enough trump," "i'm an immigrant" and "dump trump," and "how do you spell racist? "snl"." outside, some trump supporters right in front of the entrance to "snl" nbc studios dress rehearsal for nbc at literally about 8:00 p.m. latino activists say, quite honestly, they're upset with donald trump's comments likening mexican immigrants to rapists

and drug dealers. they're upset about immigration rhetoric where he's said he wants to deport all illegal immigrants. they believe that is hate speech and that he's scapegoating the entire latino community. >> when trump says that he considers mexicans criminals, rapists, murderers, drug dealers, i don't think he's joking. >> donald trump has a very big influence on the perception that people have about immigrants, about latino, and that's something that we will not put up with. >> reporter: hispanic activists believe that if trump had made disparaging comments about the gay or black community, he would not be hosting tonight. one liberal political action committee is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone out there in these "snl" audience tonight for shout "trump is a racist" during the live program. julie? >> that almost seems hard to

believe. $5,000. i would imagine pretty much anybody is going to do it for 5,000 bucks. but what is "snl" and donald trump saying about all of this? >> reporter: "snl" and nbc are really mum. they haven't said anything. in fact, the executive producer, laura michaels, hasn't have been met with any of the latino groups about their concerns. donald trump, on the other hand says, bring on the protests. it's only going to bring huge ratings for me. and he says, quite honestly, he never thought nbc would ever cave to these protests. >> no, you know what? and get the highest ratings ever. they won't cave. why would they cave? and by the way, did you rook at the new nevada poll? i'm leading with hispanics. i'm leading with hispanics. go check it out. >> reporter: as you can see here, the protests out here. critics say donald trump has the right to be on "snl." it's a freedom of speech thing, and really, that what's he's going to be here. all eyes will be on tonight. it will be interesting to see the ratings after tonight's episode, julie. >> it will definitely be. and i'm sure it's going to be very entertaining, as he is an
