insensitivity at the ivy league school. the march of resilience as the demonstration was called arose after yale intercultural affairs committee warned students not to wear quote racially insensitive halloween costumes. unquote. a yale administrator, erica kristakis who oversees a residence hall as an associate master objected to that memo saying it interrupted freedom of expression, her husband, also a yale employee then had to defend her from an onslaught of criticism. >> by sending out that email, that goes against your position as master. do you understand that? >> no i don't agree with that. >> then what the [ bleep ] did you accept the position? why the [ bleep ] hired you? >> i have a different vision than you. >> if that's what you think is being a master, you should step down. it's not about being an intellectual.

do you understand that? it's about creating a home here. you are not doing that! >> now, we have seen the rise of intolerance on american campuses for years. recently the president of the university of louisville had to apologize for this picture. he and his friends dressed in festive mexican garb for halloween. the picture was called racist by some on the louisville campus. so the next time gi into a mexican restaurant and somebody is wearing a sombrero i can cry racism? that's how absurd the whole thing has become. rush limbaugh made an interesting point on his radio program saying for years american college students have been taught that their country is racismist, a terrible place and now the students are acting out. the nutty college professors have reaped what they have sown. they are no doubt encouraged by groups like black lives matter and other radical concerns. the same thing happened during the vietnam war. when i was a senior at marist college i was walking to class

one day and was blocked by a radical student who told me no one would be going to class. ordinarily that would have been a big bonus for me. but because this guy was intruding on my freedom to make a decision it did not end well for him. i attended the history class, dr. peter o'keefe was glad to see me. there comes a point when freedom of speech, expression, movement and thought must be defended. we have reached that point now. get it yale? get it university of missouri? and that's the memo. now for the top story tonight. reaction joining us from washington charles krauthammer. you were a student during the vietnam era as i was, do you see parallels? >> you know what they say about the '60s? if you remember them you weren't there. but you got to remember that i went to college in canada. where the situation was radically different. but let's talk about what's happening today. what you're seeing now and i agree with you entirely. there's a kind of poetic

justice. universities the professors the administrators have for years now, decades, been feeding their students historical ignorance. political radicalism intolerance, and a sense of entitlement and victimization. and now it's all being thrown back in their faces. and as well the same as part of that package, for which the parents pay $30,000, $40,000 sometimes, is an idea of infant infantilizanion. this is my home you have to make me comfortable. i can't be upset about anything. if i'm upset i'm a victim of microaggression. now we get the spectacle of the dean the president, resigning as an act of supreme cowardice in the face of bullying, by students who have been soaked and seeped in this sense of

entitlement and victimization. what exactly is the crime he committed? why did he abjectly leave the scene, remember in the '60s, that same collapse of authorities, that same walking away hiding under their desks, happened at college after college. in the face of demonstrations. >> but it's different today. here's the difference. the sds, students for a democratic society, were the movers of intimidating the faculty back then. it was an organized movement and they were pretty vicious. now it's worse and here's why, if you're a minority student of any stripe at all, or in you're gay, or if you're a woman, or if you are any other type of human being other than a white male whenever life goes against you, on the college campus you can cry -- racism sexism whatever. whenever there's something you don't like all right and you alluded to that.

once it's the university's fault. if i'm flunking out, it's the university's fault. if i don't like my lunch, it's the university's fault. you give the white kid better food or whatever it may be. so that you have absolute anarchy. and fascism on these campuses. because if you go up against it then you're a target. you become a target. so everybody is scared. i think it goes simple identity groups. even white kids are marinaded in this culture that they themselves are, or their culture that they represent, is secretly or subtly or unconsciously racist and they join in the self-flajleation that what happened with the university administrators in missouri. and in yale you've got this preposterous memo that was sent out about wearing costumes -- >> i thought it was a national lampoon thing, that's how ridiculous the memo was. >> it said if you wear a

his strength. it is going to be about economics. it is going to be very different debate from the cnbc. they're going to try to make it substantive and this is where he's strong. so he may not be able to be theatrical which is what the primary race has been all about until now, the most theatrical showman leads. but i think if he can make a strong case for himself and come off just confident, somebody you can trust with the country, that would be a plus. he needs to stop the spiral downwards. >> do you -- if you're advising governor bush do you say, in addition to putting forth your economic vision -- all right -- do you denigrate any of the other candidates for their programs? >> historically speaking denigrating other candidates doesn't help. it usually hurts both candidates. >> trump has gotten away with it this year.

>> but trump is -- trump is a reality star playing a totally different game. nobody vets his statements. nobody cares if they are contradictory. nobody actually looks at the policies. he floats in a different stratosphere. i think that will change as we approach the actual voting. if you take him out of the equation i think other candidates are judged to some extent on their programs. the trump effect is that it's been largely about theater, personality and performance. but i think we're going to have a turn. eventually you got to talk about what are you going to do -- >> trump had a "wall street journal" article this week on his economic plan particularly china and the devaluation of their currency and what he would do. i think he himself understands what you're saying and is trying to turn it into substance. but let's face it two hours of watching people tell you about macro economics, people are going to just fall off the couch. you got to have some kind of

four now. we've got carson and i don't know if they're going to give carson any questions about the stuff that's happened this week about his narrative and his biography. we've largely put that in perspective here on "the gaktfactor" that it's really small ball. do you agree? >> i agree entirely. the west point story is a. non-story. it is really overblown. >> all of them -- all of them if you go back and you look they might have been said or written imprecisely, but there's no scandal here. i wonder if they'll even nudge him a little bit on that. >> i think the nudge is going to trump if it comes from anybody. >> trump opens himself up because carson's going to be ready to hit him right back. >> that's the question with trump, does he have the discipline to do what is best for his candidacy or is he going to react viscerally. this is the guy who's nipping at his heels. this is a guy who could turn trump into a loser. loser is the worst thing that
