>> we'll be back in an hour. jenna: "outnumbered" starts right now. andrea: this is fox news alert. new chilling details behind the couple in the chilling shooting rampage in san bernardino. investigators believe that the wife pledged allegiance to isis online. and the couple had a ability to launch more attacks. they also believe tashfeen mall look may have radicalized her husband before they turned an office christmas party into a massacre. i'm andrea tantaros. here with us today, host of "kennedy" on fox fox business network, kennedy. host of "after the bell," melissa francis.
9:01 am
editor of townhall.com, katie pavlich is back and "weekly standard" senior writer steve hayes is here. welcome to all of you. stunning details coming to light a short time ago. federal investigators believe that tashfeen malik swore allegiance to isis on facebook. as investigators say there is also a quote, very serious possibility that she may have served her husband's terror trainer and that they were being planning or i should say planning a second attack after opening fire on syed farook's office christmas party that killed 14 people and wounded 21 others. trace gallagher live in san bernardino with more. trace? reporter: the big headline, andrea, we know that fox news confirmed that tashfeen malik went on facebook using alias, and pledged her allegiance to abu bakr, the head of isis. also sometime before the attack
9:02 am
she tried to go back on facebook to delete that post. clearly the feds were able to recover it. they say there is no evidence that isis directed these attacks but certainly isis inspired the attacks. keep in mind that isis told all of its followers to attack their homeland, which is definition of directing people to attack. so that's where we have the problem with the definition here. what police are seeing overall is this drills tushing trend that clearly -- disturbing trend, terrorism is part of all this. the killers went online and viewed isis propaganda. we know they met with people both in this country and outside of this country who are being investigated by the fb it for terrorism and we also know the wife as you said, andrea, they're looking at her the one who radicalized syed farook and may have been the trainer. they think she is possibly the one who had bomb-making knowledge.
9:03 am
remember dozens of pipe bombs inside the house. they tried very hard to erase their electronic footprint. talking about smashing cell phones. smashing hard drives. using burner phones to make it much more difficult to detect. we can also report that the fbi pulled out of that house enough electronic data and devices to send to the fbi lab in quantico to try to see if they can recover as much as possible because they believe somewhere in those hard drives of those computers is information about how involved various terror organizations might have been in this plan. we talk about radicalizing the husband. we also learned that syed farook was also getting more religious over past year. he was attending mosque twice a day. he started growing his beard out fuller and memorized the koran. there was heated debate between
9:04 am
farook and coworker over islam. he asked him if he thought islam was a peaceful religion. they had this debate. one of those coworkers was killed inside the regional center. remember there were two hand guns and two assault rifles used. they were all bought legally a few years ago. the handguns were actually purchased by syed farook. the rifles, the assault rifles were purchased by another man. now that man is being sought by authorityies now because they're trying to find out one, why he purchased weapons and two, why i gave them to the couple. there was in the house an immense amount of firepower, thousands of rounds of ammunition. we're talking about at least a dozen people bombs. not only that but hundreds of tools that could be used to build more pipe bombs. the working theory has been with police that maybe the christmas party wasn't the original
9:05 am
attack. that was not the original target. in fact the possibility was they just got off track and they either were looking for a bigger attack somewhere else or they were looking to conduct a second attack later in the very same day. they were also following money trail which is very important. if you look at all of these weapons, you look at the gear they had, remember that the husband works as a county health worker. he was making $50,000 a year. the wife didn't have a job at all. all of this equipment, at least tallies upwards of $30,000. the question investigators have, is, where did they get the money? kind of all goes back to weaving this in to possibility with a connection of terror. andrea: trace, those are all good questions. can you talk about the news today that the female terrorist applied for a k-1 visa and was vetted by u.s. department of
9:06 am
homeland security and she was cleared? what do you know about that? was there any suspicion? clearly not at the time but after that? i mean how did that happen when at a time in this country we're debating whether or not the government is able to vet refugees? reporter: you're right, it's a temporary vetting. you have to look at the whole line of alignment here, andrea. she was born in pakistan. she went to saudi arabia. she lived in saudi arabia. she went back to pakistan where she met syed farook. they came to this country on the visa you talks about. that allows for 90 days. it gives the husband 90 days to bring his fiance over. in that time they had to be marid in order for her to stay in the country legally. during the vetting pros she came up clean. there was nothing in her background to indicate any red flags at all. that is very short vetting process. it could have been two or three years ago it was conducted.
9:07 am
there is unclear if there was any follow-up after that. it is our understanding once you clear the initial process there is no follow-up. you get married and that's that. as far as the feds missed something and whether she had a background that went deeper into terrorist ties, is very unclear at this time, andrea. >> trace, this is melissa. a lot of people wonder why we haven't seen her face yet in the photos they're showing? do we have a photograph of her? is it the fact that she kept her face covered for religion reasons? why haven't we seen any photos of her? reporter: combination of both. we haven't seen them either. we are told photos are out there that have not been released. part of the reason is she was devout and kept her face covered. part of the reason may be police have the photos and are not releases them. investigatory purchases,
9:08 am
whatever, you get my drift here. the bottom line they believe that you know they're releasing stuff, really in a pretty fast clip fashion to us as far as the investigation goes. and right now, if police have those photos they haven't released them because i have been scanning for two days now looking for a picture and asking our producers and so far they have got nothing. >> trace, it is kennedy. i have a quick question what authorities are telling residents in san bernardino county, orange county, inland empire, riverside county because a lot of people have to be pretty undone out there. are they reassuring people? what are they telling them to be vigilant for? otherwise, are people freaked out? >> yeah. i mean they're freaked out. people all over the country are freaked out by this you might imagine. here in san bernardino county, the county issued a statement yesterday saying that safety is their number one concern. that they want their public many employees to know that they are looking out for their safety. similar statements have been
9:09 am
issued by the governor of california, jerry broken who was out here at the news conference before he went on to paris saying, look, we are trying best as we can to make sure people in this state feel safe. the whole mantra of terrorism is to try and make people feel terrorized so they go outside of their normal process of doing things in day-to-day lives. so everybody, all, all county, and all state authorities at least here in california, are trying, we believe safetysay, is top component. we are posting more security in places we believe that it's warranted but, really, they're saying what the president is saying, and everybody else is saying is, you need to go about your daily lives because you can't let terrorists win, kennedy. andrea: trace, thank you so very much. steve, also to pivot on that point, the president isn't just
9:10 am
saying, stay calm. they're still hesitant to call this for what it is. i'm going through the list. you heard trace's reporting. 2500 rounds for assault rifles. 2,000 rounds for handguns. ieds, the list goes on and on and on. this is not someone upset with a coworker. why won't the fbi and the white house and law enforcement say what this is? >> i have no idea. but this is part of a long pattern. we saw this back with the christmas-day bomber in 2009. we saw it with the times square attempted bombing in 2010. we saw it with benghazi. we've seen it repeatedly the administration and top officials don't want to call it terrorism for whatever reason. the attorney general of the united states say today her greatest fear, quote, her greatest fear, going forward was a potential backlash against muslims here in the united states. now look, that is a reasonable concern. we should be concerned about it. i certainly hope we don't see one, but her greatest fear? i am worried about other cells
9:11 am
here in the united states. i'm worried about the potential these folks weren't working alone. that they may have been in contact with radicals. >> that was my question for trace. that's why it is so critical to get the digital information to quantity co, virginia, to figure out exactly how close and how big the circle was. with there other people, other families, other worshipers at the mosque he was going twice a day? what about the imam at mosque? what about family members? so far they have been pretty vague. hard to believe they were dealing with this amount of explosives, that kind of bomb-making know how and that is sort of intent with no one understanding it. andrea: katie, when you look at the evidence trace presented and that they are looking at those hard drives, you have to imagine that theory is correct. something maybe tipped them off. they were planning something much bigger than that. >> right. i mean there is talk of a second attack that was planned. interesting went into this
9:12 am
building and only took out the party they were at. one of the things frustrating to me in this whole investigation we still don't have a motive. we know this woman pledged her allegiance to isis. there are reports they were in touch with al qaeda online. we know what the motive is. the other thing is no one is talking about the fact this was attack on christmas party. preplanned attack on christmas party. i can tell you if this was reverse and it was an attack on mosque or some celebration of ramadan for some reason we would have a whole different conversation in the narrative in the media about this for some reason no one is talking about they planned this on day they would be celebrating christmas at the office. that is the day they decided to do the attack. >> i think it is interesting and worth noting, seems more and more she was driving force and pledged her allegiance and they met online. someone made a comment no matter what way terrorists get into this country or can radicalize
9:13 am
other people they're going to do it. what if that was her plan all along, find someone, come here, radicalize them, get married, settle them. what if this was very long-term plan for her? tells us any way terrorists get in to work they are going to. >> easier to get in on fiance visa than as refugee. who wants to go through the two-year process? >> i was talking to intelligence officials today talking about just that. i think we're likely learn to a, this had been her plan all along. not just radicalizer of him and somebody who planned to come here to commit this attack. i think we're likely to learn government may have missed communications between known radicals both here and abroad and these attackers in a way i think will be problematic. third, we will learn, i believe that she had established ties to jihadists in the region, perhaps in pakistan. >> i am fascinated by this female suicide bomber aspect in
9:14 am
paris. we're seeing now this woman -- andrea: rise of women we heard this morning from fbi. >> the question from me is, islamic radicalism there is a benefit to the men for giving, suicide bombings, benefit to them. what propaganda is sold to the women here in the united states or overseas? >> that's a good point. >> encouraging them saying i will put on that you side vest an go to the united states and what are they receiving for their acts? we're not hearing a whole lot of intelligence. andrea: the woman in paris, seemed very western, taking bathroom selfies. this was very different. not born in the united states of america. seemed more traditional as a muslim. they're radicalizing all different types, not just men anymore. troubling thing they're not calling this for what it is still, even though it is so obvious. new reports say neighbors of

♪ melissa: new questions whether being politically correct could have played a role in the san bernardino shooting massacre. we are learning that neighbors were reportedly suspicious of the couple, who they saw working late into the night in their redlands home garage and saw lots of packages arriving. no one called police for fear of being accused of racial profiling. presidential candidate carly fiorina sharing her thoughts on that with greta. >> this is the cost of people being shouted down because they express an opinion that the left-wing doesn't like. this is what happens. people stop talking. and we can not stop talking. we can't stop speaking the truth. and we can't stop saying something if we see something. but that's the cost. when people demonize a messenger because they don't like the message.
