it like it politically is, correct or not. >> our law enforcement people on the frontlines protecting us. thank you for responding. it was great to see you today. hope you have a wonderful tuesday. "fox and friends" starts right now. bye guys. good morning to you. today is tuesday, december 8th. i'm elisabeth hasselbeck. a fox news alert. a shocking new clue in the terror attack investigation. the two radical islamistst dbts erase all of their tracks. wait until you see what they found when they follow the money. republicans and democrats, donald trump's passionate call to keep all muslims emigrating to the united states until they figure things out. >> they don't want our system. they have no sense of reason or respect for human life. >> but is his plan resonating with voters?
3:01 am
more than his opponents might think. we'll ask you. and they're being called a disgrace, christian football players praying in public. it might inspire isis attacks? we'll try to figure that out. mornings are better with friends. let's get right to it. this is a fox news alert. as you just heard, a fox news exclusive as well. new evidence in san bernardino raising the question, how deep did the terror plot go? turns out, somebody deposited $28,000 into the killer couple's california account just two weeks before the massacre. who was that? >> good question, steve. >> america is asking. will carr is live in california with the latest on this. good morning to you, will. >> reporter: good morning guys.
3:02 am
authorities coming out yesterday and saying that syed farook and tashfeen malik had been radicalized for some time and they had planned to do more damage. inside of center, left several ied pipe bombs attached to remote control cars. they were supposed to go off when first responders got to the scene. unclear why that didn't happen. that's a trademark of terrorists overseas. federal authorities are following the money trail. we've been told that the guns, the thousands of rounds of ammunition, the ieds and the material for ieds found inside the apartment in redlands, california, could have cost more than $30,000. two weeks after the shooting, farook had $28,500 deposited into his bank account. there were three transfers of $5,000 that apparently went to his mom and we've learned that he withdraw $10,000 that may have gone to enrique marquez,
3:03 am
the man who authorities say legally purchased those ar-15s used in the shooting. authorities also say according to the new york post that his father has been added to the terror watch list. at the same time, the fbi has said they found raw materials that could have made up to 19 pipe bombs in the apartment behind me. we've also confirmed as mentioned yesterday, that both malik and farook went to a gun range for target pra days leading up to the shooting. take a listen to one of the employees at the gun range. >> they were sitting ducks. this man and his wife planned this. this is a free country. unfortunately, people with free access to this country can also cause it harm. >> reporter: and we've learned that inside of the exact same room where 14 people were killed and 21 injured, last year they had an active shooter drifl. it's unclear if farook took part
3:04 am
in that. if he did, he might have known what they were going to do in that situation. >> will carr, thank you very much. in addition to the $28,000 what they're looking at is apparently there was a $10,000 withdrawal and the question is whether or not they used to that reimburse the neighbor who bought the rifle. >> on top of that, people thought right away, saudi arabia. looks like it's more like pakistan. this red mosque over there, this woman went to that school, used her elite status, not a person without options. she could have done anything from an elite family who is wealthy with a pharmaceutical degree that she ended up with. she chose this lifestyle. these people are like, they don't have options. she had the world at her -- could have been her oyster. >> millions of dollars that we give to pakistan right now to end the war on terror. eyes are on that money. >> to help bin laden and fuel the taliban. >> people are wondering what do we do now?
3:05 am
on our own soil as evidenced in san bernardino. donald trump, yesterday in south carolina laid out a plan, doubled down later in the night to say we're not going to let in any muslims at all. match this. >> these are people who only believe in jihad. they don't want our system. they don't want our system. and have no sense of reason or respect for human life. we karnt live like this. it's going to get worse and worse. you're going to have more world trade centers. it's going to get worse and worse, folks. we can be politically correct or we can be stupid, but it's going to get worse and worse. they're recruiting by the thousands. they're leaving our country. and then when they come back, we take them back. oh, come on back. where were you? i was fighting for isis. oh, come on back, go home, enjoy yourself. when they leave our country and go to fight for isis or any of the other groups, they never come back, they never can come
3:06 am
back. they never come back. they can never ever, ever, ever come back. it's over. >> okay. so there he's calling for a total and complete shutdown of muslims entering the united states until our nation's leaders can figure out what to do about the problem. this comes on the heels of three weeks after 140 people were murdered in paris and a week after 14 people were murdered in california. this is not completely different than what he's called for in the past, which was essentially an immigration hold. and when you look across the board, republicans and democrats as well, said oh, you really can't do this. take a look at some of the tweets. first up, marco rubio, he said, i disagree with donald trump's latest proposal. in the habit of making offensive and outlandish statements will not bring americans together. >> jeb bush adding to the mix. donald trump is unhinged. his policy proposals are not
3:07 am
serious. >> believe it or not, hillary clinton also has a problem with donald trump saying this is reap rehence i believe. donald trump, you don't get it. this makes us less safe. looking at muslims coming in our country with a different analysis as opposed to italians and norwegian ans, i think in many ways they say makes more sense because, especially coming from a war torn nation, you should have a different look. >> it's interesting. unprecedentsed that religion would be a defining moment for someone to enter or not into this country. that's what i think so many people have an issue with. we're in a tough situation now. what do you think about donald trump's plan to not let many muslims in. i don't think many are agreeing with him this morning. >> ted cruz said that's not my policy but he introduced legislation to put in place a three-year moratorium on refugees coming from countries where isis and al qaeda is a big problem.
3:08 am
while he's saying that's not my policy. this morning as you wake up, for the most part when you turn on the television, everybody hates this idea, i suspect, except the people who feel there is a problem in this country. i mean, this move is completely donald trumpian. it's politically incorrect. the media is trying to figure out how to respond. the more heat he takes, the more his fans love it. >> why don't we fix the actual system in place and have a leader in place that makes us feel safe about terrorists so we didn't have to go to the extremes and say, you, you believe this, you're not coming into our country. >> elisabeth, that's a great point. i think people saw the speech sunday and they said wait a second, who has our back? he spent most of the speech saying what we're not going to do to fight them and what we shouldn't do when they're here.
3:09 am
we say wait a second, they killed 14 people, wounded 21, they weren't even on the radar it doesn't seem. we're wondering who is worrying about us. when donald trump comes out with something that seems extreme, people say i can think he's looking out for you. maybe he's going too far, even dick cheney said that's not our policy. now i would add this to it. a lot of people say when donald trump goes down to the polls, that's when he comes out with something extreme and lose to go the monmouth poll to ted cruz for the first time ever. >> i think it's cnn came out with a poll showing donald trump is up. i read one blogger who said anybody who thinks this is going to hurt donald trump in the polls has been asleep for the last five months. it will be interesting -- keep in mind, donald trump said complete pause on it until they figure out how to fix it. >> his son, donald trump, jr.,
3:10 am
is going to join us later on in the program. we'll talk to him about this. >> i'm sure everybody is talking about it. meanwhile, at the air force academy in colorado springs, it's common before or after a football game for the team to take a knee, hold hands. a fellow by the name of michael weinstein, the president of military religious freedom foundation has put out some words regarding this that are so extraordinary, we wanted to share with you his feelings about those players taking a knee and praying. >> about the prayer, he said it's a put rid example of fundamentalist christian supremacy and exceptionalism and it has to stop. that's their uniform of the day. they're members of the military and under different rules than their civilian counterparts. the air force announced this week they will formally investigate the situation. their statement said the united

the president urging americans not to succumb to islam phobia in the wake of the massacre in california carried out by islamic extremists. it turns out muslims hate crimes, not as big an issue as we're led to believe. a lebanese american and co-chairman of the middle east coalition for democracy is here to explain. first off, were you surprised the president included that in his speech? >> right. brian, he always is trying to find victimless status for various groups. in this case, muslim americans.

we're welcoming country, at least coming to the united states for years. relatively incident-free. they've excelled in all fields of endeavor from medicine, law, sports, business, entertainment and america has been a great environment for people in the middle east and that continues to this day. >> we have the rise of isis, we have al qaeda, bin laden targeted us in 2001. we weren't bombing him. in 2014, look at how the breakdown goes when it comes it hate crimes. 59% of the hate crimes, anti-semitic. 14% anti-islamic. important. look at the difference. 14% anti-islamic. 6% anti-catholic and 2. -- 2.5% anti-protestant. if you see those stats, why is the president including it in his speech? >> that's a great question to ask. you know, they've been creating,

as i said, this victimless status for muslims for -- in conjunction with american islamic reels and other muslims groups like student associations, the islamic circle of north america. trying to divert attention from what's going on. it's not been happening. islam phobia is really nothing but a myth. you don't see the press calling for inquiries or the fbi calling for inquiries into isn't semitic crimes, yet cair has been outspoken and driven that point and succeeded. there's a lot of diversity in the muslim community. some say islam phobia is racist. islam is not a race, it's a religion. muslims come to this country from over 50 countries, from west africa all the way from the middle east and into east asia.

4:34 am
important. he's more concerned about the safety of americans than offending people around the world. i mean, he is sick of watching everyone else take precedent from our own government, as opposed to american citizens who are here, who are doing a great job, working hard to support their families and live. he's concerned about their safety. and that should take precedent over anything. >> sure. and he's, you know, from what he said yesterday, it's not like it would be a permanent thing. >> no. >> until they can figure it out. tell the story when i was just walking in with you a second ago, tell the story about we sent a taxi over to pick him up and what did the driver tell you. >> the driver yousent, not someone i've ever met before, just wanted to introduce myself, mr. trump and i'm a muslim. i'm thinking oh, boy this is going to be interesting. he said honestly i'm so for everything that your father's saying because i went back two years ago to my country and my brother-in-law who came with us on vacation was kidnapped, held for ransom. i don't want to see that here. it was amazing to see. because i thought i was going to get a lecture. and i understand that. because again, it's a sensitive issue. no one's going to disavow that.
4:35 am
he said that to me and that was just such an incredible statement. because it's true. he'd looking to protect americans first and foremost. not be a government that's more interested in helping everyone else around the world at the expense of our citizens. and you know, that's his plan. and that's what he's going to do. and he's never going to back down from that. >> he does not back down. >> he doubles down, he trip ams down. guess what? every time he's done it he's been right. >> was there ever a moment you were fighting for something and you thought you know, i might have a chance and then you walked in and he just said no? >> every once in awhile. our sort of big bet in the household is a dollar with your name on it. like a signed dollar. that's the big win, if you have a stack of those you've done well. but in the business he's been so great about giving us, you know, the autonomy that we want to run the business and now what he's doing on the campaign trail is even more so. and i think it's a great testament to us, you know, in that he believes in us. that he's doing what he's doing now as opposed to perhaps in 2012 when we were younger and not quite ready to take that over. again he feels such a level of responsibility to his company, to all of the tens of thousands of people that he employs, he
4:36 am
wouldn't just walk away from that in the past. now he's probably a little bit more secure in that. >> how do you explain the big crowds he gets everywhere? what is it he has tapped into? >> because the message is just resonating with people. i can't tell you, we live in new york city. it's a very liberal place. i can't tell you how many dozens of people who come up to me in a restaurant, sitting there with my wife, minding my own business, i want to talk to you about your father. and i've never voted for a republican once in my life and i'm going to say oh, boy, here we go again, much like the driver story. and they say i'm voting for your father. not necessarily because i believe everything he says is right but because i'm just glad someone is finally saying something. someone is saying something they believe in. it's not scrubbed by 200,000 political operatives looking to possibly not offend the 0.002% of the population that's out there. and they're saying, i don't even believe in politics but i'm just refreshed that someone's finally willing to say something. it's not a party line. listen he's getting it from both sides.
4:37 am
he's just going with his own gut, and his own thoughts. and i think it's right. >> well i just thought it was interesting yesterday because chris christie as well, dontd trump showing his lack of experience. and then your dad went off chris christie for about 20 minutes on the george washington bridge, but he goes they had dinner together before the last debate. has that been tough? >> listen it's interesting. people are going to take their political positions. there's a lot of people in the race that probably should worry more about what's going on in their home states than perhaps using that as the platform to jump into the presidency. i think he's different. with my father, it's interesting in talking about the media, we can have thousands and tens of thousands of successors, because he's a great businessman. he's done incredible stuff but people want to talk about whoa, 15 years ago -- there's going to be -- that's the world. that's business. but they won't even talk about the incredible successes that the we've had. and there's many and there continue to be. it's frustrating as a passionate guy. as someone who is his son. as someone who works really hard within the business and seen just the work that he's put into
4:38 am
that over generations. >> bush 43 talked about watching his dad lose to bill clinton and how painful that was for him to see. because he was on the outside fighting like hell. he said it was a lot easier to run yourself than to watch your dad run. can you relate to that? >> you know, i can to an extent. listen it's not like we've been wall flowers. he's certainly been out there for quite some time, so we're used to the attention. this is a little bit different because you see the manipulation. the way so much of the media tries to take, you know, a four paragraph explanation of something and cut out this sentence and splice it with this sentence and all of a sudden you have a very different thing than what was intended to be said. i see some of that. it's certainly frustrating on that. sometimes i can't watch the news. at the same time, sometimes when i have a rough day at work, come back home, and he's dominating every channel. i can't get away. >> big brother is watching you at all times. regardless. >> will he call you and see how's this running for you? i'm going to try this out today. >> we definitely speak. but you know him, as well. you're just from all the calls. he's his own guy. you can give him advice.

the u.s. department of homeland security announcing an overhaul to its terror alert system. >> i believe that we need to do a better job of informing the public at large of what we are seeing removing some of the mystery about the global terrorist threat and what we are doing about it and what we're asking the public to do. >> what happened? did the federal government finally realize people are sick of being in the dark all the time? peter johnson jr. predicted this. >> while americans are on edge, especially here in new york, and when you see it with all our friends and family in new york and washington, and los angeles, and in the heartland, and in the south, everywhere, people are saying, what is the government telling us? the government is not telling us anything. >> fox news legal analyst peter johnson jr. first looked into the terror alert system weeks
5:46 am
ago and discovered they never use it. he joins us this morning from l.a. peter? >> yeah, for the government, ignorance has been bliss and so now jeh johnson says we're going to do it differently. they got a color coded system and it got a lot of democrats upset in the past. there's too much information. you're upsetting too many people. what does orange mean? what does red mean? they said we'll start something else. we'll set up a twitter feed. we'll set up a facebook page. we'll set up a win page. and we're going to provide information when something is either elevated, as a threat, or imminent as a threat. but you know, steve, they didn't send out one tweet, post one thing on the facebook, or send out one alert. not before the attack that we had in san bernardino. not before paris. not before anything. so now they're saying, well we need to have some better advisory system. that's fine. and we need that in america, because a lack of understanding and education causes fear and causes panic and it causes silly
5:47 am
behavior and silly statements. especially by elected leaders and people running for the presidency. i think we need an advisory system. but more importantly we need education. >> sure. >> two things. they say see something, say something. hear something, say something. what are we hearing? what are people saying? who do we report it to? let's get numbers of the fbi up. we'll be doing that in the next couple days. sh they can call, how they exactly anonymously report what they believe to be terrorism in their own communities. >> right. >> at the same time we need education in terms of our children. we know the average age of isis recruits is 26. 86% of them are men. most of them are american citizens or permanent residents. and they range in age from 15 years old, to a 47-year-old veteran. but we also know that the numbers of people going to syria
5:48 am
to fight with isis are down. because the isis folks have said, stay in america, and do harm here. so, advisory system gets better. we need to know what to do when we say see something, say something. >> right. >> and then we need to educate our children as to really what's going on with this issue at this point. >> that's very helpful, peter. because there was a neighbor to farook who was wondering what was going on in the neighborhood. she saw comings and going, she wanted to call somebody but she didn't want to be thought of as a racist. >> absolutely, political correctness is something that we have to explain to people what politically correct means. politically correct means, sustaining the united states of america. we do want to discriminate. we don't want to put miss limbs in camps. we don't want to go back to japanese internment that some
5:49 am
folks have talked about. we want a free america that respects all people. but at the same time, how do we report something when we see something? and how do communities speak up? that's the best terror advisory going forward and we need it. >> because ultimately we just want to be safe. peter johnson joining us from the l.a. bureau. thank you. >> good to see you. >> good to see you. >> coming up on this tuesday, how about having some horse power roll out from underneath the christmas tree? the exclusive "fox & friends" details to get these $170 remote control toys for $30. hey mcmellin' you gellin'? i'm gellin' and zinfandellin'. and so is my new bride, helen mcmellin' i'm so happy my eyes are wellin' dr. scholl's massaging gel insoles are so soft they make your feet feel outrageously comfortable. i'm gellin you're so not gellin' dr. scholl's
