authorities coming out yesterday and saying that syed farook and tashfeen malik had been radicalized for some time and they had planned to do more damage. inside of center, left several ied pipe bombs attached to remote control cars. they were supposed to go off when first responders got to the scene. unclear why that didn't happen. that's a trademark of terrorists overseas. federal authorities are following the money trail. we've been told that the guns, the thousands of rounds of ammunition, the ieds and the material for ieds found inside the apartment in redlands, california, could have cost more than $30,000. two weeks after the shooting, farook had $28,500 deposited into his bank account. there were three transfers of $5,000 that apparently went to his mom and we've learned that he withdraw $10,000 that may have gone to enrique marquez,

the man who authorities say legally purchased those ar-15s used in the shooting. authorities also say according to the new york post that his father has been added to the terror watch list. at the same time, the fbi has said they found raw materials that could have made up to 19 pipe bombs in the apartment behind me. we've also confirmed as mentioned yesterday, that both malik and farook went to a gun range for target pra days leading up to the shooting. take a listen to one of the employees at the gun range. >> they were sitting ducks. this man and his wife planned this. this is a free country. unfortunately, people with free access to this country can also cause it harm. >> reporter: and we've learned that inside of the exact same room where 14 people were killed and 21 injured, last year they had an active shooter drifl. it's unclear if farook took part

back. they never come back. they can never ever, ever, ever come back. it's over. >> okay. so there he's calling for a total and complete shutdown of muslims entering the united states until our nation's leaders can figure out what to do about the problem. this comes on the heels of three weeks after 140 people were murdered in paris and a week after 14 people were murdered in california. this is not completely different than what he's called for in the past, which was essentially an immigration hold. and when you look across the board, republicans and democrats as well, said oh, you really can't do this. take a look at some of the tweets. first up, marco rubio, he said, i disagree with donald trump's latest proposal. in the habit of making offensive and outlandish statements will not bring americans together. >> jeb bush adding to the mix. donald trump is unhinged. his policy proposals are not

serious. >> believe it or not, hillary clinton also has a problem with donald trump saying this is reap rehence i believe. donald trump, you don't get it. this makes us less safe. looking at muslims coming in our country with a different analysis as opposed to italians and norwegian ans, i think in many ways they say makes more sense because, especially coming from a war torn nation, you should have a different look. >> it's interesting. unprecedentsed that religion would be a defining moment for someone to enter or not into this country. that's what i think so many people have an issue with. we're in a tough situation now. what do you think about donald trump's plan to not let many muslims in. i don't think many are agreeing with him this morning. >> ted cruz said that's not my policy but he introduced legislation to put in place a three-year moratorium on refugees coming from countries where isis and al qaeda is a big problem.

while he's saying that's not my policy. this morning as you wake up, for the most part when you turn on the television, everybody hates this idea, i suspect, except the people who feel there is a problem in this country. i mean, this move is completely donald trumpian. it's politically incorrect. the media is trying to figure out how to respond. the more heat he takes, the more his fans love it. >> why don't we fix the actual system in place and have a leader in place that makes us feel safe about terrorists so we didn't have to go to the extremes and say, you, you believe this, you're not coming into our country. >> elisabeth, that's a great point. i think people saw the speech sunday and they said wait a second, who has our back? he spent most of the speech saying what we're not going to do to fight them and what we shouldn't do when they're here.

the president urging americans not to succumb to islam phobia in the wake of the massacre in california carried out by islamic extremists. it turns out muslims hate crimes, not as big an issue as we're led to believe. a lebanese american and co-chairman of the middle east coalition for democracy is here to explain. first off, were you surprised the president included that in his speech? >> right. brian, he always is trying to find victimless status for various groups. in this case, muslim americans.

we're welcoming country, at least coming to the united states for years. relatively incident-free. they've excelled in all fields of endeavor from medicine, law, sports, business, entertainment and america has been a great environment for people in the middle east and that continues to this day. >> we have the rise of isis, we have al qaeda, bin laden targeted us in 2001. we weren't bombing him. in 2014, look at how the breakdown goes when it comes it hate crimes. 59% of the hate crimes, anti-semitic. 14% anti-islamic. important. look at the difference. 14% anti-islamic. 6% anti-catholic and 2. -- 2.5% anti-protestant. if you see those stats, why is the president including it in his speech? >> that's a great question to ask. you know, they've been creating,

as i said, this victimless status for muslims for -- in conjunction with american islamic reels and other muslims groups like student associations, the islamic circle of north america. trying to divert attention from what's going on. it's not been happening. islam phobia is really nothing but a myth. you don't see the press calling for inquiries or the fbi calling for inquiries into isn't semitic crimes, yet cair has been outspoken and driven that point and succeeded. there's a lot of diversity in the muslim community. some say islam phobia is racist. islam is not a race, it's a religion. muslims come to this country from over 50 countries, from west africa all the way from the middle east and into east asia.

there. tough conditions for anyone doing any traveling out there. otherwise, as far as temperatures go, take a look at them across the nation. relatively mild. you're going to make it into the 70s. widespread across texas, oklahoma, 60s for you in places like little rock and the northeast. a little bit chillier. high temperatures forecast to make it into the 40s. not bad at all for this time of the year. let's head back inside. maria, thank you very much. you never know where you'll encounter germs at the office. >> all right. you think i've got germs? i'll give you some germs. how about some for your keyboard, huh? how about for the stapler? >> bacteria lurking around every corner and on every surface, how do you stay helts i at work? fox news medical aid team dr. samadi is here to tell us where the germs are hiding.

>> ooh wait. no telling where those have been. >> let's talk about some of the things in normal workplace. everybody has a break room for the most part. what about the microwave? >> this is a time of the year that we're surrounded by people getting sick. there are germs everywhere. if you have to guess at the workplace, where do you think is the worst and dirtiest place in the office? >> the bathroom. >> that's not the case. they're scrubbing all the time, cleaning it up. these are the places where you see a lot of germs. the handles, the refrigerator another place. >> everybody opens this. >> by the way, we need more half and half. hello. a lot of e. coli, salmonella, bacterias can sit for days and you come in and grab them. by touching your eyes and your nose, you can enter those germs in there. >> what should you do? >> use a towel to grab them. use the hand sanitizers. when it comes to hand wash, how do people wash their hands. they come in, basically do this

and start washing within two seconds. you have to scrub in, in between all these areas where the germs can really sit there. 20 seconds, which is a long time sometimes, that's when you really scrub and you get rid of all these germs. >> there you go, doctor. >> okay. we need a cup of coffee. everybody pulls down that thing. or you need a glass of water. everybody uses that gizmo. >> these are all high traffic areas. bacteria can sit there. once you start touching it, this is the guy. i use this frequently during the day. the hand sanitizers. it's easy to use and you get rid of all of these germs. it's everywhere. we're surrounded by these germs. best things to boost your immune systems during the winter time. worry about the flu and all the germs and bacterias. >> the elevator button, everybody is going downstairs pushes the same button right there. >> exactly. >> so many people -- >> what's on my finger right

now? >> you don't see them. but you could have a lot of bacteria. if you wash it, it's no problem. once you start touching your -- this is the entry point, your eyes and nose. what do you do with this? i don't want people to become obsessive and start using it th kind of stuff. if you're pressing the button, then wipe your hands. there are so many other places in the office. >> don't touch your eyes or your nose and those are the areas that if somebody coughs, cough in your elbow so you don't spread this. but the key is that the bacteria can sit there for days and days and we can pass it along. >> that's kind of scary. if you went down the elevator and went down about 100 feet you would be in the newsroom and elisabeth joins us from there now. >> that's right, steve. hi dr. samadi. >> are there areas we need to be worried about? >> a lot of studies have been

done on the keyboards and there's tons and tons of germs and bacterias and feces on some of the keyboards. it's gross, right? the key is to really wipe them out at least once a week. that's how you really reduce a lot of those germs. also if you have the monitors and ipads and always constantly using your fingers, those are the areas where the bacteria can sit there. you can reduce the mass of these germs so you don't get sick. also, let's talk about the flu shots. if you haven't had it, this is a good time of the year to get the flu shots. >> make sure he's sleeping seven hours, well-hydrated and boosting his immune system. give him vitamin d, elisabeth, he needs it. >> we woke up regina here. if the phone rings and you have to answer it and worried about germs what, do you do? grab it with a disinfectant wipe? >> disinfdisinfectant. you do the same thing for the phones. those are the high traffic

welcome back, in an active shooter situation, five seconds can mean the difference between life and death. but there are some things that you can do, and your children can do, to make a difference. here to show us how self-defense expert toni morrison and his coinstructor along with gabriel david and eli. we thank you for joining us today. >> thank you for having me. and what people are calling the new normal. we're hearing more and more. both support for kids going through drills to deal with an armed person in their school, and also, something on the other side, a little fear in parents, if we're doing these drills, will it make the kids afraid, do we need to be having this conversation? tony, where do you stand on this issue? >> i stand that we can't make the kids ignorant about the fact that the world is a dangerous place. so we don't want to scare them to the point where they're paralyzed, and they're not going to be kids and enjoy their life. but at the same time we have to educate them and we start by telling them the things to look for, to be more vigilant, to pay

attention to what's going around in the surrounding area. we call it situational awareness, being aware what's going on. so this way we could have a full filed life. >> so moving from scared to being aware and then prepared is what you really do is what i'm hearing. >> yes. >> can i ask some of the students here, gabe, do you have active shooter drills? do you have lockdown drills in your school? >> once a year we usually do a lockdown drill where everyone hides behind so the shooter if he were to look through the window of the door he wouldn't be able to see us. >> david, do you do the same thing? >> we do the same thing, we do drills. >> do you get scared when you do that? >> no, you know it's going to happen. you know what the routine is for the school. it just has to happen. >> and eli when you go through these drills, even through your practice here, do you feel more prepared, more able? or do you feel more scared? >> i feel very prepared. i feel like if i -- if i know what's happening, especially through my training, i can be

able to make a proper decision. >> to me this sounds like an enabled heart that i'm hearing, willing, able, prepared and able to actually do something because they've gone through some steps. let's go through one right now. you're going to display for us and exemplify what would happened in an armed shooter situation. what would that look like? >> i'm going to pretend that i have a gun here and if i -- >> this is a stapler. >> and there was a wall or something and i'm pointing the gun as someone. >> okay. >> and she's going to disarm me. >> okay and that's coming from behind. >> that's coming from behind. what happens is if you're hidden in a doorway and the gunman is searching, he's searching, as soon as he has his weapon out we're going to attack the weapon immediately and start to attack the gunman. >> you came on the weapon side and came in through his arm to get that weapon. >> when he duck under the shoulder it takes me away from his line of vision so he won't see me until i actually have grasped the weapon, and i'm attacking and disarming him.

>> let me ask you something else. you didn't turn and use the moves on him. do you keep running once you do that or do you turn and actually fight, kick and get this guy down? >> once you're engaged the gunman you have to just take him out. >> okay. >> you have to fight strong. so, you're not going to actually try to get away until you actually make sure that you've done some damage to him. because if you don't then he'll just pursue you. so once you engage the gunman you have to completely engage him until he's subdued. >> what if there are two people -- >> that's the difficult one. >> we've got a teammate. what's the strategy? >> once we're hiding let's say we couldn't run away, and we hide, and then we realize that we might be discovered, we have to basically communicate with each other and say listen this is what's going to happen. if i grab the gun, you guys are going to tackle the person but we all have to be in it together. we all have to work together as a team in order to subdue -- >> okay can you walk us through one step here one thing that these kids would go through in your training. >> absolutely. >> pretend that he's holding it. the way we would teach it is from the side.

you go to the side and he would basicly just practice taking -- >> so this would be quick about ten seconds. before we go. >> right. >> he's going to practice getting off the line of fire. this is how we teach the kids in the school. >> tony, thank you so much. >> thanks for having me.

intelligence that some day may really end up as something tragic. i hope not. also, the fact that you profile, there's nothing wrong with profiling if it's logical. look, when -- when i got reported to me when i was u.s. attorney that joe dejuice epiwas shot in the head in a brooklyn restaurant i had a pretty good idea it was the mafia. it didn't take a genius for me to figure out it was the mafia and i wasn't going to look for the westees on the west side of manhattan and i wasn't going to look for block kids in harlem. i was looking for italian people who belong to the mafia. so when something like this happens, the minute this happens, and they didn't put out the names of the people who did it, i knew two things. it was a terror incident, and it was islamic related. now the administration has turned out to be wrong about everything. the fbi agent came out the first night and said it wasn't terror. how could it not be terror when you kill that many people?

wouldn't just walk away from that in the past. now he's probably a little bit more secure in that. >> how do you explain the big crowds he gets everywhere? what is it he has tapped into? >> because the message is just resonating with people. i can't tell you, we live in new york city. it's a very liberal place. i can't tell you how many dozens of people who come up to me in a restaurant, sitting there with my wife, minding my own business, i want to talk to you about your father. and i've never voted for a republican once in my life and i'm going to say oh, boy, here we go again, much like the driver story. and they say i'm voting for your father. not necessarily because i believe everything he says is right but because i'm just glad someone is finally saying something. someone is saying something they believe in. it's not scrubbed by 200,000 political operatives looking to possibly not offend the 0.002% of the population that's out there. and they're saying, i don't even believe in politics but i'm just refreshed that someone's finally willing to say something. it's not a party line. listen he's getting it from both sides.

he's just going with his own gut, and his own thoughts. and i think it's right. >> well i just thought it was interesting yesterday because chris christie as well, dontd trump showing his lack of experience. and then your dad went off chris christie for about 20 minutes on the george washington bridge, but he goes they had dinner together before the last debate. has that been tough? >> listen it's interesting. people are going to take their political positions. there's a lot of people in the race that probably should worry more about what's going on in their home states than perhaps using that as the platform to jump into the presidency. i think he's different. with my father, it's interesting in talking about the media, we can have thousands and tens of thousands of successors, because he's a great businessman. he's done incredible stuff but people want to talk about whoa, 15 years ago -- there's going to be -- that's the world. that's business. but they won't even talk about the incredible successes that the we've had. and there's many and there continue to be. it's frustrating as a passionate guy. as someone who is his son. as someone who works really hard within the business and seen just the work that he's put into

that over generations. >> bush 43 talked about watching his dad lose to bill clinton and how painful that was for him to see. because he was on the outside fighting like hell. he said it was a lot easier to run yourself than to watch your dad run. can you relate to that? >> you know, i can to an extent. listen it's not like we've been wall flowers. he's certainly been out there for quite some time, so we're used to the attention. this is a little bit different because you see the manipulation. the way so much of the media tries to take, you know, a four paragraph explanation of something and cut out this sentence and splice it with this sentence and all of a sudden you have a very different thing than what was intended to be said. i see some of that. it's certainly frustrating on that. sometimes i can't watch the news. at the same time, sometimes when i have a rough day at work, come back home, and he's dominating every channel. i can't get away. >> big brother is watching you at all times. regardless. >> will he call you and see how's this running for you? i'm going to try this out today. >> we definitely speak. but you know him, as well. you're just from all the calls. he's his own guy. you can give him advice.

terror signs. terror red flags. they missed the fact that malik did not have a legitimate address. on her official documents to come into the country. they missed that completely. they missed the fact that she had family ties to radicalism. they missed the fact that apparently there were lots of people and lots of ammo and guns being delivered to this one house because some woman who was a neighbor who was so afraid to speak out for political correctness concerns that that went unreported. there were a lot of things that have been missed by the federal government, and by local authorities, and i think a lot of it is because there are so many inputs, so much information coming at them at one time, that oftentimes it's hard to cycle through it. and sift through it. and find out who is the threat and who is not the threat. so all of that exists. i think a lot of people and we're going to get into the gun issue, how many people are buying guns. a lot of people are just afraid. they think another san bernardino is going to happen. trump comes out with a proposal, regarding the muslims. he said last night with greta that it wouldn't apply to people who are in our military, they

would be brought back. or people who are already living here. so he's not talking about mass deportation of muslims. however, there's another thing going on. everybody in the establishment on both sides, they want trump out of this race. they want him out of the race from the very beginning. this is, they believe, their opportunity to get him out of the race. that is going to put the people that support trump back on their heels. i think they're going to dig in. they're going to keep supporting trump. and we could very well see, because of this, and despising what he stands for on nationalism and so forth, this could ultimately lead to a crisis at the convention. where the republican party basically rips itself apart to prevent him from becoming the nominee. i really believe we're headed toward that. i think there's too much money and too many people who think that someone like him would be an utter disaster for trade, for immigration. and they've got to stop him. they think this gives him -- gives them that opportunity.

good people, they're doing great things, that's fine. but why are that many people from one, you know, one sector coming into the country? i think a lot of people just don't understand this. and i think talking about our overall safety, security, and economy, in terms of all the facts that are out there, is a legitimate thing to do. i do think, though, this will dominate the discussion. and they are going to seek to distract him from his overall message over the next i think this is going to go on and on and on. i don't think maybe he'll walk back his comments. maybe he'll reframe them slightly. but i think the establishment on the left and on the right, you saw chris christie coming out. they are going to beat this until the last dog dies. >> you're right. >> laura you mention americans don't feel safe it seems to be a feeling that definitely is real right now in the united states. >> yes. >> on black friday more americans had their backgrounds checked to buy guns than any other single day on record. brian just did a shegment with a sheriff in florida who is calling for his citizens there in his county to arm themselves.

all 231 passengers and 15 crew members are safe. but this is the third time in recent weeks that a threat has forced an air france plane to make an emergency landing. a dangerous high speed police chase ends in a deadly confrontation. take a look at this. >> shots fired. shots fired. >> he's shooting at us. >> driving that car, a suspected carjacker, hanging out of the window of that car, firing at officers. the entire time. he then rams into multiple cars on the road before he crashed into a patrol car, again opening fire on officers. more than ten officers fired back. eventually killing that suspect. several officers and other drivers had to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. that happening in seattle. he was fired after allegedly showing up to work drunk. slurring his words and swearing at this kickoff event back in october.

malik had been radicalized for some time. we've also learned that that room where they shot and killed 14 people and injured 21 others, had an active shooting drill last year inside of that room. it's unclear if farook was part of the active shooting drill, but sources do tell us that he did plan on more damage inside that room. he and his wife left those ieds behind. those pipe bombs. we've now learned they wanted those to go off when first responders got to the scene. it comes as federal authorities are taking a hard look at the money trail. they've told us that between the guns, the thousands of rounds of ammunition, and the materiel for ieds inside the apartment that all could have totalled about $30,000. we've now learned from sources that farook received a deposit of more than $28,000 two weeks before the shooting. he then may have taken $10,000 and authorities are trying to find out if he gave that $10,000 to enrique marquez. the man who authorities say legally purchased the ar-15s, used in the shooting.

marquez now evidently cooperating with the fbi. then there were three transfers of $5,000 that apparently went to farook's mother. authorities want to know where did the money come from? and the fbi tells us, at the least, the money and the fact that they went to a gun range in the days leading up to the shooting, shows that they had planned to kill as many people as they could for quite some time. >> we have found evidence of planning, participation, financing. >> we will get to the bottom of this. and we want to find out everyone who has -- who participated in the preplanning, if there was anyone else. >> "the new york post" reporting this morning that farook's father has been added to the terror watch list. you may remember he gave an interview to an italian newspaper saying that his son supported isis. also, they've been talking to his mother, we know they've been questioning her at length, trying to find out how she could not know anything about what her son and daughter-in-law were

problem in contra costa county near oakland. deputies there say all three crimes are unrelated and each of these suspects striking on different nights from different locations. the only thing they have in common, all three managed to get busted by the police chopper's onboard infrared technology. it had no problems tracking them down. just days before he vanished without a trace, this morning we are learning that kristin cavalieri's brother was arrested with a loaded shotgun on him. michael cavallari was booked in a california jail briefly after police say he had been making threats against a woman in that state but he was never charged with a crime. the day after thanksgiving his car was found running, and with the air bag deployed on a utah highway. but he hasn't been seen since. kristin cavallari breaking her silence releasing this childhood photo saying i appreciate all the concerns, thoughts and prayers that have been extended to me and my family. we are wishing them the very best. well, a pregame prayer by air force football players may

ago and discovered they never use it. he joins us this morning from l.a. peter? >> yeah, for the government, ignorance has been bliss and so now jeh johnson says we're going to do it differently. they got a color coded system and it got a lot of democrats upset in the past. there's too much information. you're upsetting too many people. what does orange mean? what does red mean? they said we'll start something else. we'll set up a twitter feed. we'll set up a facebook page. we'll set up a win page. and we're going to provide information when something is either elevated, as a threat, or imminent as a threat. but you know, steve, they didn't send out one tweet, post one thing on the facebook, or send out one alert. not before the attack that we had in san bernardino. not before paris. not before anything. so now they're saying, well we need to have some better advisory system. that's fine. and we need that in america, because a lack of understanding and education causes fear and causes panic and it causes silly

behavior and silly statements. especially by elected leaders and people running for the presidency. i think we need an advisory system. but more importantly we need education. >> sure. >> two things. they say see something, say something. hear something, say something. what are we hearing? what are people saying? who do we report it to? let's get numbers of the fbi up. we'll be doing that in the next couple days. sh they can call, how they exactly anonymously report what they believe to be terrorism in their own communities. >> right. >> at the same time we need education in terms of our children. we know the average age of isis recruits is 26. 86% of them are men. most of them are american citizens or permanent residents. and they range in age from 15 years old, to a 47-year-old veteran. but we also know that the numbers of people going to syria
