tv   Fox Report Sunday  FOX News  December 14, 2015 1:00am-2:01am PST

1:00 am
mediabuzz@foxnews.com. i hope you follow me on at which timeer as well. we're back here on the air next sunday, 11:00 and 5:00 eastern with the latest bus. hours ago what appeared to be the door opening on a political battle between gop front-runner donald trump and the senator from texas is putting some heat on him in some of the polling. it's a big shake-up on the way to the white house. this is "the fox report." ted cruz climbing to the top of fox news polling released today, winning support from 28% of respondents in iowa. he holds a slim two-point edge over donald trump, well within the poll's margin of error. now, note the timing. we're just seven weeks away from the iowa caucuses. when voters begin voicing their choices for the republican nominee. in this polling, marco rubio is in third place with 13%. dr. ben carson in fourth with 10%. jeb bush, rand paul, tied for
1:01 am
fifth place. it is a shift in momentum perhaps for senator ted cruz in iowa. is that what's happening? take a look at this. he also leads a "des moines register" poll with a ten-point jump on donald trump who's, again, in second place in that. and some drama on this sunday as i alluded to. trump went after senator cruz on "fox news sunday," saying he's essentially too polarizing to be president. watch. >> you can't walk into the senate and scream and call people liars and not be able to cajole and get along with people. he'll never get anything done, and that's the problem with ted. >> the next gop presidential debate is this tuesday in las vegas. kristin fisher is live for us with the news tonight from washington. kristin, senator cruz just replied to being called a little bit of a maniac, and around and around we go. >> he did. you know, he finally responded about an hour ago on twitter. it's pretty funny, actually, but
1:02 am
his response won't fully make sense until you hear what trump called him on "fox news sunday." here it is. >> when you look at the way he's dealt with the senate where he goes in there like a, you know, frankly like a little bit of a maniac, you're never going to get things done that way. >> reporter: so trump called cruz a maniac to which cruz responds on twitter, quote, in honor of my friend donald trump and good-hearted maniacs everywhere, he then posts a link to a video of the song "maniac" from the movie "flashdance." now, trump's not the only one going after cruz. marco rubio also took a dig at him today on "meet the press." >> each time he's had to choose between strong national defense and some of the isolationist tendencies in american politics, he seems to side with the isolationists. and this is an important issue to have a debate over. it's not personal. >> reporter: and debate, they will on tuesday in las vegas. earlier today cnn announced which candidates made the cut for the main debate. and they are trump, cruz, carson, rubio, bush, kasich, christie, fiorina and rand paul.
1:03 am
the rest of the republican field, graham, huckabee and santorum will face off in an earlier debate. even though trump has been attacking cruz the last few days, he's been keeping it fairly friendly at least by trump's standings. it will be interesting if the gloves come off on tuesday night. harris? >> i remember a time not too long ago, let's just call it the summer because it was that recently, when people were wondering if they might end up on the same ticket. so a lot of interesting things going on there. a little bit less excitement on the other side of the political aisle now because the numbers really haven't been changing that much, but bring us up to speed on the race for the democratic nomination. >> reporter: well, and there's only three candidates in that race. and with seven weeks to go until the iowa caucus, hillary clinton still holds a commanding lead in that state. according to the fox news poll out today, she's beating bernie sanders by 14 points, 50-36. martin o'malley still way down at 5%. just to give you an idea of how much less dynamic this race is than the republicans, neither clinton nor o'malley had any campaign events this weekend,
1:04 am
only bernie sanders. he was in iowa. in fact, sanders was the only candidate, republican or democrat, with any campaign events today. i think, harris, there is a lot of debate prep going on this weekend. >> all right. good to see you, kristin. thank you very much. people across france gathered in paris today to mark one month since the terror attacks which killed 130 people. it was a somber scene, as you might imagine, out the bataclan concert hall. the gloomy weather matching the very sad mood there. mourners were weeping as they left flowers and candles as they have been doing for weeks at the memorial to remember 89 people who were slaughtered when gunmen wearing explosive vests stormed that venue. >> i'm here because i try to understand why this happened. i try to understand why people think that by killing more people, they will succeed peace. it doesn't make sense to me. >> again, the number, 130 people died on november 13th after the
1:05 am
attackers targeted paris's cultural spots including a stadium, restaurant and that concert hall. investigators say all but one of the suspects directly involved in the attacks were killed on that day. salah abdeslam escaped, as you know, we've been reporting. he's presumed to be trying to get into syria. president obama expected to make a rare visit to the pentagon tomorrow morning, reportedly as part of an effort to sell his strategy for fighting the islamic state terror army. as we've been reporting, he's dealing with some harsh criticism for his plan or lack thereof for quite some time now. we're told the president will have to meet or will have meetings at the pentagon and the national counterterrorism center to get updates on the situation on the ground. so will any of this generate anything new in the fight against the isis savages? we can report this. the last time president obama went to the pentagon for a so-called update was back in july, and after that, he announced plans to send about 50 special operations forces into syria. the search in a small lake in california is over.
1:06 am
fbi agents have been looking for a computer hard drive and anything else related to the couple accused of carrying out the deadly terror attack on a holiday office party in san bernadine though. we've just learned a number of items were pulled from the water. but would not elaborate, assist officials, on what they have found. syed farook and tashfeen malik reportedly tried to cover their tracks by destroying evidence from their home. robert gray is live with the news in san bernardino now. robert, bring us up to speed. >> reporter: hi, harris. that's right. the fbi spending three days diving in that lake just a few miles from here in san bernadine though. now, we've talked with the fbi today, and they will not confirm whether things found in the lake, items they've recovered over the past several days per taun to this case or not. they are trying to follow that digital footprint and find out if there are any evidence or clues perhaps that was tossed into that lake as they search for clues on their background or any possible plans or ties to terrorist groups.
1:07 am
now, we can also say that there's no update yet on enrique marquez. of course, he bought the two rifles used in the attack. he is expected to be indicted. he has been talking to the fbi. we can also say that the inland regional center, the site of the horrific attacks which is just behind me here, officials telling us it remains an active crime scene. as you can tell from the green fence, there's a temporary fence that encircles the entire facility here. it may not open until the new year, harris. >> yeah, and we saw that community pulling together last week and those offices opening back up and saying that their hearts have not healed, but certainly they are going to show the nation that they are ready to go back to work. i want to go back to one of the suspects now, tashfeen malik, who i understand there's more information now about how exactly she was vetted. >> reporter: yeah, that's right. she went through three separate background checks, not raising any red flags along the way now. the reports say that they found some social media reports that law enforcement officials telling "the new york times"
1:08 am
that malik not only supported but wanted to take part in violent jihad against the u.s. in these social media posts. now, social media currently not part of the screening process, although it is being debated in homeland security. some officials in media reports saying they just can't do it for tens of millions of applications, but they may review those visas such as the one tashfeen malik came in on, the k-1s that are allows for fiancees to come in to marry americans. there are only enits of thousands of those. but again, three separate background checks by different departments in washington not turning up any red flags for malik. >> i can tell you, robert, it is hard to believe at this point -- and even within the last 48 months or so -- when we've known that terrorists have wanted to reach out over social media. and then isis certainly in the last year and a half or so. so how is it that that social media grab wasn't part of all that information that they've been collecting, particularly on people coming to this country? >> reporter: yeah, and she
1:09 am
actually went through extra scrutiny because she was coming from pakistan, had a pakistani passport. countries with known ties to extremist islamists do go through extra scrutiny, harris. so it's unclear why they would to the have gone through that. but again, social media not part of the man. but clearly that conversation is going on, and you can bet it's going to heat up after the revelation of these findings here on social media. >> well, and i would imagine there's got to be some tough conversation, too, with places like facebook and twitter so that they can work together. we'll see how that comes together, report it as it happens. robert, thank you. with our federal government telling us to be vigilant as terrorists have threatened to kill americans, this story from the border is getting a lot of attention on this sunday. patrol agents say a smuggler tried to disguise his suv as a border patrol vehicle. it happened near laredo, texas. take a look for yourself. this is pretty convincing. agents say though they could tell it was a fake, when they saw it right away, we're told 12 people were hiding inside that vehicle. well, that had to be a clue. i can't imagine them hiding
1:10 am
without seeing somebody. agents say smugglers have tried to sneak across the line in fake delivery trucks before, but they say which, what you're looking at right there, is very unusual. right now, reaction pouring into that landmark climate change deal. and concerns about who will pay for it all. and then there's this. >> i'm so proud of this improvement in saudi, and i really hope that any female gets elected today because this is a really big opportunity for females, and i think that they could really make a difference in society. >> and the world is watching. history being made in the middle east. women getting the chance to vote and run for office for the first time in one country. that is ahead on "the fox report."
1:11 am
1:12 am
1:13 am
we did exactly what congress said we had to do for them not to be able to -- the need to
1:14 am
endorse it, but it's a plan that can work. and everybody in the world feels it will start us down the road. >> secretary of state john kerry making the rounds today, trying to get some support for the president's climate change deal. he claims it will help the environment and create jobs. nearly 200 countries agreed to a worldwide plan to reduce emissions and fight what they call global warming. critics say the u.s. could get stuck with the cost of implementing the changes. and some lawmakers on capitol hill are not happy that they were not included in all of this. they wanted a say. elizabeth now with more from washington. elizabeth? >> reporter: another part of his legacy, president obama boasted the global climate change is, quote, the best chance to save the planet. after weeks of negotiations, 195 nations agreed to a deal. it's expected to reduce each country's global emissions. suggesting a major emphasis on reducing fossil fuels and developing renewable sources of energy. traditionally these pacts usually exempt developing
1:15 am
countries, but this recent deal requires some action from every country including china and india. critics argue the deal forces the u.s. and the european union to bear the brunt of costs, promising $100 billion annually to poorer countries. >> all of these upper-class diplomats fly into paris on nice airplanes, stay at nice hotels, go to nice restaurants, and write up a treaty which, by the way, has zero enforcement, it e resembles the eiranian agreemen. they then hold a press conference to say god, aren't we brilliant and hasn't this been a great week in paris? and they go home, and we're all supposed to feel really happy about it. >> reporter: secretary kerry was quick to respond on fox news sunday saying it's congress's fault there's no enforcement in the deal. >> one of the reasons why there's no enforcement mechanism is because the united states congress would never accept one. so it has to be voluntary. and a lot of nations resent that, but we have accepted that
1:16 am
because we believe it's going to move the marketplace. >> reporter: the agreement also aims to limit the increase in average temperature across the world to below two degrees celsius. harris, back to you. >> elizabeth, thank you. russian officials say one of their warships fired warning shots at a turkish fishing ship. it happened in the aegean sea. russ russia's defense ministry says a guided missile destroyer could not contact that boat and were concerned the ships would collide. there are reports that russia summoned turkish military officials in moscow to talk about the incident. so far no official response from turkey. but you know that tensions are high between those two nations after turkey shot down a russian fighter jet recently. russian president vladimir putin called the downing of that jet, quote, a stab in the back and responded with economic sanctions. saudi arabia just voted at least 20 women into office, and the very first election since giving women the right to vote. you have to make this note, though. it is a country where female voters had to get male drivers
1:17 am
to take them to the polls because women are not allowed to drive there. we should also note these 20 female winners represent just 1% of the council's seats which were up for grabs, and they come from vastly different parts of the country, ranging from saudi arabia's largest city to a tiny village near islam's holiest site. nature's fury on full display. look at the pictures. twisters destroying buildings and rattling communities to the core. the cleanup only just beginning. and alarming new information on the real potential danger drones pose in our skies. plus, don't miss a special fox news reporting, "the truth about sex & college." it's 8:00 eastern right after "the fox report" right here on fox news. >> an epidemic suggests an increase and the rates, although we wish there was no sexual assault, the rates have been going down, not up. >> furthermore, a college campus is relatively speaking, a safe place. >> there is definitely a campus
1:18 am
sexual assault hysteria going on. >> there's no reason why you would say to your daughter, don't go to college. you'll get assaulted there because the rate of sexual assault off campus is even higher than on campus.
1:19 am
1:20 am
1:21 am
people are in cleanup mode after twisters touched down in texas. the tornado in willis north of houston ripped off the roof off of one of the buildings. it also damaged a local restaurant. several trailer homes, mobile homes and to belled trees. authorities say that they are still working to restore power to some of the areas, but we're told nobody was hurt in all of this. and another twister touched down farther south in lindale, damaging at least 50 houses there. look at this. you can see rooftops, walls taken out.
1:22 am
again, no reports of anybody getting hurt. well, the number of dangerously close encounters between planes and drones is growing, according to a new report spanning nearly two years. it counts government reports of nearly 250 near collisions, 28 of those incidents forced a pilot to take evasive action. 90 of those near collisions involved commercial jetliners. most of the close encounters, we're told, happened within five miles of busy airports across the nation at higher than 400 feet. that's in spite of faa rules that prohibit drones operating in that airspace. brian is in our new york newsroom. boy, hard to believe when you look at these numbers. really concerned, though, are experts about the likelihood of a drone and an airplane co-lieding? >> yeah, harris. there's debate among experts the droeb industry, aviation industry and the federal government as to how concerned we really should be about drones colliding with airplanes and whether or not a drone is even capable of taking down an aircraft.
1:23 am
nevertheless, what you can't deny from this study is how alarmingly quick the number of drone sightings and close encounters has increased in just two short years. take a look at this. there were just ten drone sightings or encounters in may of last year. this may, there were 100. in all of 2014, there were 213 dro drone incidents. this year, more than three times that. it's a new popular industry. and as they become cheaper, more drones go up in the air, and the chances of a collision go up which could result in catastrophic engine failure or more. >> they do give us some indication of what can happen. a bird which is made from soft materials and a drone can penetrate the cockpit which is another area we think is somewhat worrying. if a drone were to go through the cockpit, it could seriously injure a pilot, and that's not a great situation for anybody. >> harris, some 1 million drones are expected to be sold this holiday season. >> yeah. unbelievable how many there are. so what is being done to make
1:24 am
sure that this actually doesn't happen, that these things don't collide in the air? >> right. so many experts agree that the solution lies in a combination of regulation, technology and education. there's a software out there called geofencing that automatically stops an unmanned drone from flying within five miles of the airport. but again, the faa doesn't require this software. and right now the faa, while it limits drones from being flown within five miles of an airport and above 400 feet, the majority of the sightings and the encounters violate these rules. now, some say amateur drone pilots just need to be better educated and that this isn't really about people trying to take down airplanes. the drone industry, bottom line, harris, the drone industry is growing so fast that the rules and the regulations just haven't cut up and hopefully they do before it's too late. >> yeah, and on the lighter side of this, i think they need to give some etiquette lessons as well. >> right. >> if my neighbors are any indication. >> exactly right. that's a good point. >> okay, we'll move on. thank you. >> no problem. hundreds of people including
1:25 am
very young children may have been exposed to tuberculosis at a hospital in california. santa clara county officials say they are working to track down some 350 babies and their parents who may have come into contact with a nurse who was ill at the valley medical center's mother and infant care center. there is only a slight risk of infection, we're told, but tb can be very dangerous for little ones. babies born between august and november are getting daily antibiotics whether they test positive for the tb or they don't. just to be safe, parents may also get some treatment. we'll update you when we get more. family and friends mourning the loss of actress rose siggins. she was known as the character legless suzy on "american horror story." she was born with a rare disorder which affected the development of her spine. her legs were later amputated, but she wrote that she grew up with a normal childhood and got married and had two children. the cause of her death has not been released.
1:26 am
rose siggins was just 43. ted cruz is going by donald trump, and at least one key early voting state. some of the polling there, according to brand-new fox news polling. so what about the texas senator is resonating with voters on the ground in iowa? and can he take that farther? the fox news political insiders are going to get miked up, all three in town at home base as we talk.
1:27 am
1:28 am
1:29 am
1:30 am
the race for the republican presidential nomination is getting tight in the early voting state of iowa. text senator cruz and donald trump neck and neck right now according to brand-new fox news polling. 28% of likely caucusgoers say they want cruz. 26% say they want trump. and take a look at this. 30% say senator cruz is the most qualified candidate to keep our nation safe. 20% feel that way for trump. that's a big differential. cruz seems to be doing something in iowa that's resonating. can it continue to fend off donald trump? is it a blip? we don't know. we're going to talk about it, the fox news political insiders are here and i'm in my happy space because they're all here. you can chime in while you tune in on our fox news social pages, facebook and twitter and i'll take that and get it into the conversation. john, pat in the middle, pollster for president jimmy carter and fox news contributor and on the end, doug schoen.
1:31 am
doug, i'm going to start with you. a blip or a trend for ted cruz? >> a clear trend. >> why do you say that? >> three reasons. first, you have "the des moines register" poll which shows an even bigger lead, harris, about ten points. but second, you also have a substantial movement in the "wall street journal" poll for ted cruz. he's within five points of donald trump. >> nationally. >> nationally, yes. thank you, pat. and the internals on the polls, harris, show that the movement of opinion, favorability and confidence is moving ted cruz's way. >> wow, okay. i wrote alta down. pat? >> well, one of the things in "the des moines register" poll which had a lot of questions on it and i considered the best -- i hate to say the iowa poll, because the woman who runs it has been right for the last god knows how many decades. >> okay, you're on her holiday
1:32 am
card list. >> anyway, she points out that one of the things happening in that poll is massive movements of favorability. massive movements up for cruz. rubio and trump stayed the same. but boy, there are a lot of movements down. jeb bush, despite spending millions of dollars there, is now down 22 points. fiorina's down. you have -- you have guess who, christie, going up. >> and why is that important? >> because it means that under the numbers, there's a lot of movement happening. we may be in a period that people think happens only the week before iowa happening a month or so earlier. >> oh, that's interesting. >> which means a very -- i think we'll have several more turns of this. but a lot of this is going to set up the debate tuesday. >> all right. before i go to you, john, one second, i want to get in something that i tweeted out that's getting a lot of response, and it's what people are talking about. is there an upside to a brokered or contested convention where
1:33 am
people don't decide the party's nominee? if so, what? and i mean, almost to a person, people are saying no, they want a say. >> yes. and first, there is no up side to that because that would mean that the primaries didn't produce someone with a majority of the delegates for the first ballot. i think we got ahead of ourselves last week with this as a topic. let's get going on this week. we have a big debate tuesday night. but let me just jump in on the cruz thing. i think cruz has run a smart campaign, built a good organization in all the early states, all the way through the s.e.c. primary, has a lot of money. he's done better as a candidate on the technical stuff than rubio has. he's not -- i don't think he's as good on tv as rubio. but cruz has built a machine that should not be underestimated. he's got one problem, though. this is still way early before iowa -- >> but going into iowa, is this a shift in momentum? >> it could shift more between now and then. that's the thing.
1:34 am
>> and probably will. >> let me just say this. take the top three candidates which are trump, cruz and rubio now, i think people admit. but you know what, they're each in a very important transition point, whether they can make it or not. donald trump has had a masterful campaign of being a front-runner for months, spending very little money. and now he needs to transition whether he deepens his message with advertising or whatever. whatever he needs to do. that's a critical moment. cruz has done the organization. but the question is for him is can he be less an ideologue and more an insurgent. for rubio, when is he going to pick a state like -- if i were him, i'd be in new hampshire campaigning my neck off. >> you've got to pick one. we've been putting up some little fact boxes on the screen as people are watching. and one of them says that ted cruz is second among gop candidates in terms of fund-raising. that money is important at this point. >> well, yes.
1:35 am
and he also has super pac money. big super pac money. >> but flip that with donald trump who says he doesn't need any of that, and people love that about him, so they say. >> they may love it, but if your numbers are sinking and you're not spending, you're making a mistake. contrast that with cruz who is going up, who has access to both substantial campaign funds, and super pac money. cruz is on a major trajectory up. >> i want to say -- i think we have to say something. we need to stop for a minute. the three of us have talked about this. we need to recognize, as of today, what an unbelievably good job to today donald trump has done in turning around the perception of him among republicans, when he announced in june, it was like 60% of republicans said i'd never vote for the guy. >> did you say ain't kidding? >> not kidding. not only has he done a great job on his own behalf, he has shaped the entire agenda of 2016. all by himself, no consultants,
1:36 am
no. steres, no nothing. >> we are going to talk more about that idea of a brokered convention which might tamper with what you're talking about. but i want to move on to this and drill down into those numbers. the vote in iowa, 32% of those who say they will definitely go to the caucuses plan to vote for cruz. trump is seei ining his stronge numbers among those who probably will attend at 27%. >> this is good for ted cruz. >> why? >> because his voters who are largely very conservative and evangelical are most fervent about turning out and voting. and when you look at polls and you see these kind of trends, it is a harbinger of good for the guy who's got the most intense supporters. >> that's normally the case, but we saw with obama in '08. >> that's true. >> in iowa where he drew people out. i remember back in '84, gary hart who had no campaign, went
1:37 am
in the last weeks with advertising, and finished second to mondale. you can bring people out. you can. iowa -- the electorate -- that's what i'm saying. trump has got -- i don't know if he's got the vehicle. he's apparently fairly well organized, i understand there, but the most important thing he's got is fervent supporters who normally don't. so the question is do they come out? >> can i ask you a question, john, just about where they are in the place of this election and their politics, trump and cruz? because in the beginning of this ride that everybody's been on and watching some of the drama in the race and so on and so forth, 17 candidates and blah, blah, blah, i mean, it has seemed like they were not aligned but at least maybe friends, or in politics, maybe you call it frenemies, i don't know. >> well, they've had different styles. >> but they don't step in each other's wheelhouses is what i'm talking about. >> not yet but they're getting there. >> tuesday night? >> trump called cruz a maniac. >> right, we had some of that tonight. >> this was in response to cruz at a fund-raiser here in new
1:38 am
york being tape-recorded as basically sayi ing do the voter really want either carson or trump with the finger on the button? and that got out, and trump correctly, i think, reacted to it. >> saying he did it in secret. but he was already working on this. it's going to be interesting tuesday because rubio sits there on one hand wanting to bring cruz down on national security. trump has another agenda. i don't know what christie's are, but because of all this new turmoil and the rise of cruz, he, i suspect, will be a target tuesday. he's a good debater. how he handles himself. but i think he's going to get hit from a couple directions, and we will see. >> real quickly. >> cruz is trying to be trumplike. >> the muslim comments, do they come up at the debate? >> it absolutely will come up. it absolutely will come up. >> that, by the way, it would look like in some of the polling that i've seen since he said the comments has not harmed him. he actually got a little bit of a bump. iowa not included in that. >> that is true. but what cruz is going to try to
1:39 am
do is play off that, get that constituency without attacking trump first. >> we've got to talk about christie for a second. >> hold on. we're going to come back. you guys aren't going anywhere, are you? >> not if you're here. >> aww. donald trump commenting on reports that gop party leaders may be working on a backup plan. this is what i was talking about, a plan that would essentially mean that republican voters won't have as much say in who becomes the nominee. >> this wasn't supposed to happen. they were supposed to pick a governor, a senator, you know, a puppet. where they control him 100%. this wasn't supposed to happen. >> the fox news political insiders are coming back. so what do you think about this? jump on twitter, facebook. is there an up side to a contested convention in which the people don't decide the party's nominee? if so, what is that up side? hit us up on our social media pages, facebook, twittete
1:40 am
1:41 am
1:42 am
1:43 am
next year we could see a convention in which republican voters don't get to pick their nominee. how could that be possible? our political insiders are back. john, pat and doug. pat, i'm going to start with you. and what one viewer is saying because i heard you echo something like this in the break. michael mulhall says zero up side. it could drive them away in the general election. >> look, we've said for over a year here on "political insiders" that the republican party was hanging by a string from falling apart because its base, its voters would dislike and distrusted their leadership so much. the idea that they're going to allow the establishment, which this week is giving away the cadillac tax to the democrats so that union members will not be punished in an election year. it's a crazy thing. all of these things, there won't
1:44 am
be a republican party if they have a brokered convention, which is the bosses trying to -- the leadership trying to impose someone. you could have a contested election because you have too many people. all in all, it isn't good news for the republicans. >> all right. you said too many people. why don't some of these people below a certain percentage get out? what is the pesa apercentage of pollster of actually jumping ahead of trump? >> first there's always hope the polls are sometimes wrong. but putting that aside, harris, is a simple answer. a lot of these candidates are not really running for president. they're running for cabinet positions, ambassadorial positions, or at the very least, more influence in the party. the minute you drop out, you lose a lot of that influence. >> john, this is your party. so what's your major concern, if you see this go into a situation where the people don't get to wave their own choice? >> i would go along with what pat said. i've thought this, too. that we are witnessing perhaps the breaking up of the republican party.
1:45 am
it started -- it's been going on a while. but 2010 with the rise of the tea party versus the establishment -- >> are you worried that donald trump will go to a third party? >> yeah. >> he keeps mentioning it. >> why -- okay. i have to ask this -- and i know that the establishment won't jump in and back a candidate, any one of them, they can't do that at this point, but they can certainly send some signals, okay? why are we not seeing some signals for the republican who has wanted what you guys have wanted all along, and that is 100% of the air time and a message that gets out? why not love donald trump more? >> because they can't control him. they think, a lot of these boss guys, they think -- >> who do you control in washington? these guys do what they want, right? it's no different, no? >> they believe jeb bush would be their candidate. he would cater to the establishment and candidly he has fallen like a rock. pat and john are right, the poll numbers are clear on that. >> doug -- >> the establishment doesn't like ted cruz, and marco rubio, as pat said, there's no clear place he's going to win a

primary. so they're betwixt and in between. >> why does someone under 5% not drop out. let's take chris 'ttie who didn even make the last debate. and he hung in there with great persistence in new hampshire, got the endorsement of the new hampshire union leader, boom, he's in second place. he's back in the debate tuesday night. >> they're all waiting for magic. >> what are they waiting for? >> magic. >> lightning and lightning strike and magic to happen. >> is it not conceivable that the establishment trying to stop trump and cruz could rally to chris christie as their guy? >> they'll have about as much success with chris christie as they've had. >> you cannot take from the voters in this year in both parties. the democratic party does it with their superdelegates and their rigged system. the republican style is trying to desperately rig this and doesn't know how. the problem is this is a year when the voters demand control because they've had it with where their country's going.

>> oh, my gosh. pam i am on twitter, i can't show you the picture but it's a guy with an elephant and a donkey, and he says "i've just had it with you two." >> that's america. >> we could still get a major third-party candidate. don't kid yourself. this election is hardly over. it is just beginning. >> pat, if the next president of the united states, are they in this race yet? >> who knows? >> come on. >> the forces at work here in the country where the voters are looking going, i don't know, and trump has taken a real hit in the general election numbers. that's what also terrifies republicans, of course, but they also actually hate cruz i think much worse than they do trump. but here's the point. the voters want to be heard. they want their country back. and if you're going to end up with a contest where it's simply going to be these two parties dominated by their bosses or their leadership or washington, you're going to get somebody else. >> interesting. >> with all this division and hillary staying below the radar

as long as there are no charges from the justice department, she is in good shape. >> did you hear thatand he's a . >> i am. >> wow! all right. we'll come right back. i know how it is. you're all set to book a flight using your airline credit card miles. and surprise! those seats sometimes cost a ridiculous number of miles, making it really hard to book the flight you want. luckily, there's a better way... with the capital one venture card. with venture, you'll earn unlimited double miles on every purchase, every day. and when you're ready to travel, just book the flight you want, on any airline, then use your miles to cover the cost. now you're getting somewhere. what's in your wallet?
