for sergeant bowe bergdahl is a big deal because it goes against an earlier hearing that showed the case should be held at misdemeanor hearing. he faces life in prison on the charge of misbehavior before the enemy and up to a five year sentence for desertion. bergdahl walked off his post in afghanistan in june of 2009. he ended up in the hands of the taliban who held him captive for five years. he was freed in exchange for five detainees from guantanamo bay. in a podcast bergdahl explains why he walked away from his unit. >> doing what i did was me saying i am like, i don't know, jason bourne, all of those guys out there who go to the movies and watch the movies, they all want to be that. i wanted to prove that i was that.
