melissa: a mother of four was killed when she was thrown with her car she was driving. her husband says everything has changed. >> there was screaming. and i tried to call her back. i called her back and i couldn't. i just had a feeling. melissa: can you imagine? let's go to meet roll exist janice dean for more on all this weather, janice. >> so, heart-breaking. this storm system start adweek ago. we're dealing with severe weather. today no exception. tornado watch in effect for next couple of hours. thankfully it is being whittled a way. this is the extending cold front from the main system pushing across the midwest. looks like we have tornado warnings north across pensacola into the alabama area. doppler radar indicating strong rotation. we're not out of the woods yet. please listen to your local weather forecast. know what to do if you have a watch or warning in your area.

let's look at the threat tonight. parts of alabama, florida panhandle, isolated winds and tornadoes through afternoon and evening hours. the threat will start to diminish tomorrow. which is good news if. you live in these areas and surrounding regions be alert for severe weather. the cold part of this storm has brought 18 inches plus snow for parts of new mexico and texas. historic for them. i want to mention flooding. we've seen a lot of high water rescues. this area is saturated. therefore anymore water just can not get into the lakes or the rivers or no the ground. so things are into a dire situation over a dozen states into flash flood watches or warnings with additional four to six inches on top of in some cases over a foot of rain. so that's another big issue. on the cold side of this we're talking about all seasons here, right? several inches of snow. freezing rain and ice here in the purple shaded areas.

that's going to be ongoing throughout the afternoon and evening hours. we could see a foot or more of snow across the great lakes, upper midwest, then into new england. in some cases more snow than they have seen all winter long thus far. there is the ice accumulation. you can not drive on ice. we could see quarter of an inch to half an inch of ice in heavily populated areas throughout the afternoon into the overnight and into tomorrow. the ice is going to be a huge travel problem. already 1000 flights canceled across the northeast. that is going to be ongoing. we'll finally say good-bye to the storm system tuesday and wednesday when things quiet down for new year's eve. we're watching it carefully and bring you the latest. back to you, laddies and gentlemen. melissa: janice, thanks for that. >> hillary clinton is getting ready to unleash our secret weapon, her husband, bill clinton. the former president will campaign for her. donald trump using hillary

[gunfire] the country's security forces have retaken a strategic government complex in the city of ramadi from isis militants who have occupied the city since may. the news comes two days after isis leader abu bakir al-baghdadi release ad audio message which he said u.s.-led airstrikes only fueled the terror group and they are not working. new york congressman peter king telling "fox news sunday" that baghdadi is probably right. >> i would expect baghdadi to say that we've had some impact. but unfortunately overall he is probably right after 15 months, 16 months of air attacks by the u.s. it has had really minimal impact on isis considering how long those attacks have been going on. melissa: meantime a new poll showing more americans think the

heavy snow and ice along with gusty winds. ♪ jedediah: growing outrage in chicago after another deadly police shooting. 17-year-old quintonio legrier and betty jones were killed. they say 55-year-old jones was hit by accident when they shot at legrier. the officers involved have not been identified and have been placed on desk duty. the tragedy fueling growing demands for mayor rahm emanuel to resign. protesters already fired up because of the laquan mcdonald shooting are expected outside of city hall today. this tension in chicago is a very big deal, julie. does that rest with rahm emanuel and fall on his shoulders or rest with the police department and reforming and way they train officers and protocol at police central?

we address it so the community feels protected by police and you don't have this division. if he doesn't step down given his lack of leadership on this issue what kind of messages it it send. melissa: i'm being really cynical. i don't think he cares about what message sending to the country. it is about hanging on to power. that city looks completely ungovernable. looking at violence on police or violence between individuals gun violence where gun laws are tight. the fact you buy a gun for 75 to $100 on the street the city is wildly out of control. it reminds my of l.a. from 73-93, tom brad did i was in charge. gangs took over from l.a. it was huge thing. not near me but inner-city. this city is so far out of control you need a complete clean sweep of everyone. >> right. melissa: you almost have to start over from scratch at this point. it looks ungovernable.

ted cruz racked up a number of good endorsements, significant endorsements over past couple weeks. to roll out trey gowdy well-respected among republican grassroots. he is a fighter using his prosecutorial oversight role to ask tough questions in committee. this is something obviously rubio people are excited about. one caveat, do endorsements matter that much? seems political rules are out the window but will this make any difference? melissa: this is narrowed down between a race between three people. i wonder how you see that playing out? this is more for rubio. puts jeb bush further behind. you see trump, rubio, cruz really pulling away from the rest of the pack. >> i will always debate endorsements matter especially from someone like trey gowdy for someone like me worship at altar of trey gowdy. we americans, especially conservative americans owe him a great debt, everything from the

benghazi committee everything happened from that to consciousness of american public. he is good antidote to trump. i think there will be a lot of progress made. melissa: jedediah? jedediah: i think hatred for politicians is so strong right now i don't know that people, ordinarily i would agree with you, i think trey gowdy is good get for marco rubio. marco rubio is viewed as establishment guy now. conservatives are little wary of him particularly way he talks about nsa and privacy issues. people know a lot of jeb bush supporters and people doubting jeb bush is going right over to rubio. i think it's a good get. people are not listening to politicians right now. they're listening to their instincts. they're looking for a political figure defies traditional logic. defies convention. going with their gut. i don't know that the conservative political endorsements come from the politicians matter right now in this political moment as it may have in the past. melissa: julie, i think that is a great point. it's a money signal. not about votes.

not about getting people excited. it's a donor signal. if you are behind the other mainstream guys, jeb bush, whoever it was, we'll all going to get behind rubio and let cruz and trump battle out for fringes at the side. >> could be. ironically lindsey graham's support in south carolina has gone to jeb bush. south carolina is ground zero after iowa for evangelicals and more conservative republicans. now you have the lindsey graham establishment going with bush. trey gowdy going with rubio. at the end i think ted cruz or donald trump will probably win the primary which is ironic. establishment candidates and establishment elected officials supporting two establishment guys in the race, quote, unquote. what is happening? donald trump is leading in the polls. ted cruz not far behind. as you said everything is going out the window this year. this is the most bizarre primary i can possibly remember. melissa: but it doesn't stop being true. a lot to cover.
