15 hours to go to the debate. 15 hours within which donald trump could change his mind and decide to change and be at the debate. last night, on bill o'reilly, appearing on his show, a sometimes combative interview, o'reilly asked trump about the principle of turning the other cheek. watch. >> i think you should forgive not only journalists who come at you in ways you don't like. but i think you should be the bigger man and say, you know what, i don't like it, and make that case all day long. but i'm not going to take any action against it. you know, don't you think that's the right thing to do? >> it probably is, but, you know, it's called an eye for an eye, you can look at it that way also. >> no, no, no -- >> no -- >> here's what it is -- >> let me tell you. >> you take it more seriously than i am? i'm not taking it seriously. i'm going to have a wonderful

time tomorrow night at 9:00 at drake university. >> reporter: that event that donald trump is talking about is to raise money for wounded warriors at the cheflo auditorium. a great place. and in the closing days of the iowa campaign, jeb bush dropped in to thank his volunteers. he told me he's looking for his substantive question of policy at tonight's debate. >> there's still a chance to talk about the detailed plans i to get us out of the economic morass we have and the debates. whether trump is there or not it's important to do that. >> reporter: jeb bush telling us he's expecting a better turnout in iowa. he's actually been rising in the polls there. by the way, bush told me last

night he's got a $20 bet that donald trump will attend. steve, just so you know, it's a balmy 36 degrees here in des moines. we're thinking about going water skiing. >> john, here's the thing, brenbrent and i were just talking about it, because brent is going to be covering the caucus over the weekend. there's going to be a gigantic snowstorm on tuesday. >> reporter: as long as it's tuesday and not caucus night. but they're hearty adventurers here in iowa. and a little snow is not going to keep them from -- >> we're not, though. it's the weather guys that can't. >> john roberts, we hope you brought a warmer coat than that with you. >> reporter: oh, yeah, i've got one in the truck. don't worry. >> a snap-on hood as well. all right, why are the debates tonight so important for the republican candidates?

you know, we've seen a number of polls in the last week or two, you know, ted cruz and donald trump are neck and neck with the margin of error. maybe donald trump is ahead by 10 in another one. here's the thing, as of the moment the caucusgoers walk into the caucus event, republic, with republicans it's a secret ballot, unlike the democrats where you just go stand in a different corner and they start counting it. right now, when they walk into the caucus event, up to 30% have not yet decided who they're going to vote for. so something that happens tonight or doesn't happen by virtue of donald trump not showing up could impact who they caucus for. >> i don't think there's any doubt about it. gallop is not doing polls. it's not accurate, we're going to bow out. even people that used to do the polls say it is not like it used to be. it's hard to get people at home

on a land line. pollsters are saying, look at me, my numbers are correct. this is the best i can do with it, take with it what you will. if donald trump is not there, you're going to see ted cruz right in the middle and he's going to be the target for everybody like donald trump normally is. also, will donald trump look at that and want to see somebody at the center of the square for the first time. i think new hampshire is watching i think iowa is thinking twice. >> and chris last night was very specific on how important this debate is for iowa, listen. >> this is serious. republican intentionally limited the number of debates they're going to have. iowa only gets one debate. they get one debate. last time they got three. this time, one. iowa takes these things seriously. them care about these things. it matters to them. also it means like shortening the season, means each of deese

debates counts for more because there are fewer of them in the cycle. so the consequences are real. >> he's absolutely right. okay, he is an analyst, he is a pundit. marco rubio is actually going to be on the stage tonight in des moines. >> not to diminish chris, he refuses to impress. >> he's in a completely different category. i want to hear in somebody who's got skin in the game. here's marco rubio. >> this is a serious election. it's not a game. the future of america is at stake. i believe deeply if bernie sanders or hillary clinton is elected it's going to be a disaster for america. clinton super pac is now basically promoting the jeb videos. that's how bad it's gotten. at the end of the day, the people in iowa will see to it. i feel confident about it. they know if i'm the nominee, the republicans win. >> the clear average, this does play clinton and sanders head to head with rubio. rubio does do the best.

i remember people exhales when they picked ryan over rubio. >> also a lot of discussions to discuss tonight. we want to know what's most important for you for the candidates to talk about on that stage tonight. on our facebook page, let us know, what's most important to you, we'll consider that. let's go across the political aisle, the democrats, the dnc has sanctioned six debates. so far, they have had four. but here's the thing, hillary clinton's campaign is saying, wait a minute, it's neck and neck with bernie in iowa. it's not supposed to be like that. way ahead in new hampshire, we need another debate and one fast. bernie sanders said, we'd like to do that, but only things sanctioned by the dnc. the bernie sanders campaign has come out and said if hillary clinton wants another debate, let's not do one, let's do three

more. you can see this state here. if secretary clinton wants more debates that's great. we propose three additional debates, one in march, april and makers and none on a friday, saturday and sunday. and what they're saying the hide hillary campaign did not work for her and she's trying to claw her way to the front. >> he's saying none of this funny business, tucking it away on a friday. >> the one thing she can do gent bernie sanders that she probably couldn't do against barack obama, because barack obama what the inexperience card. with bernie sanders, you got to say, look at all of his experience cards. look at his early background. the communist leanings. look at socialism, the crazy bills he's proposed. look at what he's accomplished -- almost nothing.

even more terrifying. no one knows why this was happening. that plane was headed from london to los angeles, when a flight attendant suddenly collapsed. that plane then made an emergency landing at heathrow. officials tested the cabin air and they also checked the luggage, but they didn't find anything. everyone is said to be okay. it was asked are there any doctors on board, a mystery there. three new arrests taking place back at home. overnight at the oregon wildlife refuge, the total of arrests, now 11. they turned themselves in at a checkpoint near the refuge. this comes one day after the group leader, amon bundy was arrested. and they've occupied the refuge for nearly a month to oppose that federal land policy. bundy is now urging the remaining protesters to leave and head back home. well, in california, five

gang members are now facing charges in connection with the three california prisoners who broke out of jail nearly a week ago. those three men, one an accused murderer still on the run. the ringleader believed to be jonathan tieu. they used a bed sheet, $200,000 reward offered for the capture. a tractor trailer teetering over the edge of a cliff. look at this right here. the driver was still inside the cab. check out what the folks there did. they formed a human chain to save his life. strangers. locking arm in arm to reach that drive inside that truck. the driver lost control on an icy highway. this happened in pennsylvania. he took out half a mile of guard rail before that truck finally came to a stop. other drivers stopped in their cars to pull the driver from the truck. this morning, that driver is alive thanks to all the help he got. what a bunch of heroes there in

power of presidency. what have you heard so far and what do you hope to hear tonight to make you think that the men and women who serve are going to be served? >> so far, we've not heard very much at all. we've not hit double digits. the most gop debates there have been five. the gop has relatively quiet. incredibly quiet. there are issues that affect all, especially veterans need to hear about. >> how do you cut through the rhetoric as opposed to someone who looked like they're convicted to change things? for example, most people think it's nobody things the working all i hear it's going to change, i haven't heard much about how. >> well. va needs a cultural change, first and foremost. i worked together on the committee. i understand the issues. the executives tell how they need to do it. the president obviously hasn't

put much effort into changing this. this is one issue, where the presidency, the administration is going the key player in change the va. we haven't seen very many people fired, we haven't seen very many people take action. there's genocide happening. >> johnny, there's nothing i should tell you about the price being paid. josh earnest indicated there's no mass pullout until afghanistan, that swar getting inflamed again. having said that, that's a veteran issue. how do you feel about that should be addressed? what do you want to hear on that stage tonight? >> yeah, obviously, from national security and foreign policy there's been quad lateral meetings held. hey, listen, that war is not going away. i want to know when these men and women come home there's a president that truly cares about

>> i know it's probably santorum and huckabee. >> trump tweeted out in a brand-new poll in iowa, he's up by seven over cruz. and the pollster for the maris poll who did the nbc poll, he said given the way trump is dominating first three contests, he is positioning himself to run the table in the first three states. >> i have a scenario for you. cruz getting constant incoming -- he'll be the target because for -- for tonight. and just the way he approaches his job. he did not have -- you know, he was not the most popular guy as john mccain will tell you and marco rubio just mentioned in the senate anyways. so he'll get it and i think christie steps into the blunt force approach that donald trump usually is. we know that that's how he

governs. i think we elle a see -- we'll see that tonight. >> and the undercard debate in which chris christie was for my fbn debate, the first of the fbn debates, he used that as and the united nations not to talk about donald trump but the candidates standing to his left and right but squarely focused on hillary clinton. it worked for him. he moved up to the primetime debate after that. >> sure. >> hey, there's going to be -- this is the reason to watch tonight because we don't know where these candidates are going to go. >> we talked about the candidate dynam dynamics, but what about the issues? brian interviewed a former marine who had some great points in the 6:00 show. here he is, johnny jones, earlier talking about what he would like to see from the candidates and it starts with the v.a. >> i want to know that when the men and women come home there's a president that truly cares about their well-being and make political favors take a back seat and take care of the men

and women. i worked on the house veterans affairs committee i understand the legislative process when it comes to this issue. at the end of the day, the congress tells the v.a. what they need to do, but the executive tells them how they need to do it. the president hasn't put much effort into changing this. so this is one issue as opposed to many that the presidency, the administration is going to be the key player in changing the v.a. >> he has spent the majority of his time after getting back and losing both his legs in afghanistan trying to get veterans' issues addressed. that's why he's very -- he was very dubious about donald trump's thing tonight. he thinks it's more of a show, instead of a policy. he wants to hear about a policy. >> yeah. no, i think that's a great point and it's going to be interesting to see how much attention donald trump does get for hosting this event. at the exact same time as all this. that's the big story this morning. >> for the voters in iowa this the last chance to look at the republicans and as they go to the caucusing on monday night, will it weigh on them? we know that about -- up to a

third still haven't made up their mind. >> which is why they're ticked off that first chance to see the candidates on the stage and donald trump won't be there and he's leading in all the polls. >> that was chris stirewalt's point last night. this is a big thing for the people of iowa. >> chris is very, very smart when he agrees with me. meanwhile, to a fox news alert. a plane forced to turn around when passengers and crew start passing out. >> generally you want your crew conscious on a transatlantic flight. patricia stark has the details. >> reporter: yeah, it was a very scary situation for the 188 people on board that plane. the american airlines flight was heading from london to los angeles. about 2 1/2 hours into the flight, a flight attendant suddenly collapsed. the plane turned around over iceland and headed back to london. one passenger says that the crew started asking if any doctors were on board. >> there was a lot of commotion and immediately they threw the

lights on. then maybe five minutes later they announced that seven of the 13 flight attendants on board had either passed outer were too sick to fulfill their duties. >> several ambulances met the plane after the emergency landing at heathrow airport. now, in addition to those seven attendants, at least three passengers also got sick. paramedics weren't allowed on board until air tests were done. now, all of them were later evacuated and evaluated on the tarmac and released. officials tested the cabin air and they checked the luggage, but they didn't find anything. an american airlines spokesman tells fox news that the plane is still being inspected. most passengers are already on their way to los angeles. and the airline is working to book flights for the rest. it's still not clear what caused the illness. a very creepy and odd situation. steve, brian and sandra?

well, bernie sanders might be surging in the polls, but according to some d.c. insiders, that's the least of hillary clinton's worries. since july, the fbi has been investigating her use of a private e-mail server while she was secretary of state. and some are saying that the investigation will more likely end in an indictment. fox news senior judicial analyst judge napolitano is here this morning and he has all the very latest on this. you have been writing about this, judge. you have been so right on this all the way through. where are we now with this controversy? >> we are at a very, very sensitive point from mrs. clinton's point of view which means a grave legal situation. because the evidence of her failure to safe guard state secrets is well documented, well known and easy to demonstrate. her argument is, you know, i didn't know what i was doing, it wasn't marked classified when i

got it. >> you say that's a not valid. >> that is not a defense. because the charge of failure to keep national secrets safe doesn't require the government to prove intent. if you accidentally, if you forgetfully, if you inadvertently which she is saying is her case, inadvertent expose national secrets it's a crime. this is public, you can look it up on the internet, an e-mail she sent to one of her subordinates, that classified stuff, cut the marking off of it and cut and paste it and send it to me on the unsecured -- we don't know if that was done. only a criminal mind could do that. sending it on a nonsecured, nongovernment er is verb. we know from one of her subordinates revealed earlier this week that mrs. clinton and her aides regularly discussed

state secrets on their blackberries. if your blackberry is government issued and government secured not a problem, not a crime. mrs. clinton's was not government issued and not government secured. she had one of her aides buy it off the shelf. so the evidence of her guilt and the provability of her guilt is profound. the question is not will the fbi recommend an indictment it's clear they will. the question is what the justice department do with that recommendation? >> what is your prediction on that? >> i don't know. if the president really believes in the rule of law, if attorney general loretta lynch who had a stellar reputation here in new york city, believes in the rule of law they'll present the evidence against mrs. clinton to the grand jury and they'll indict her. but let's say they don't. let's say the president wants to protect her, and look, if her name were hillary rodham, instead of hillary rodham clinton she would have been

powerful. i just feel like some of the script choices could have been better. i gave it a 3 1/2 out of 5. chris pines is great and casey affleck is great. it's worth seeing on the big screen. skip the 3-d and maybe sure you see a matinee version. 3 1/2 out of a 5. >> do they use real ships or green screen, that do you think? >> well, it's kind of cool, brian. they have -- they actually build a half of the ships with big gimbals and they move them with actors on them. they have blue and green screens -- with the storms they have to create them with cgi and pour water on the actors but it longs realistic at times. some of the cgi looks a little fake sometimes, but you feel like you're on the water. it's heroic story. heroically done from story standpoint. >> i'm sick of the movies that are special effects. go for the "kung fu panda 3." the real movies.

wheel, thinking that the truck was going to blow over because i -- the windows were just vibrating in and out. >> did the truck move? >> i don't know how much it moved. i mean, i didn't really inspect it after the storm let up and everything. but felt like forever. but i got out and i walked over to the building where this all happened, to see behind the building because there was debris i couldn't move the truck right away. once i was able to move the truck closer to the back of the building i was able to see some more significant damage that was done. >> so you lived in the area for the last 11 years. you hear about how radical florida weather can be. is this the first thing like that you have ever experienced? >> i have been living in florida for almost 23 years and i have to say, i have been through a couple of hurricane since i have been here. nothing compared to this. it's just so unexpected.

and in south carolina, donald trump is leading ted cruz by 16 points as you can see. donald trump right now on cruise control. >> one thing you will see in the nbc poll is that marco rubio is at 18%. you have ted cruz at 23%. and nine point advantage for donald trump. very similar to the distance that the fox news poll out. it's harder and harder to do it and plus, trump more than sand -- and sanders are depending on two things -- new voters to go out and go to the caucus. if they decide to stay home and steve, you were saying it's not -- it's going to be very cold on monday. >> a storm is coming. >> the theory is that trump will be hurt the most. >> so trump is taking a bigger lead over cruz, but the two basically neck and neck, and the fact that donald trump won't be participating in it. >> there you go. the gold standard is the des

moines register poll. they have been looking at caucuses for decades. it comes out i believe 6:30 on saturday night. so on the eve of the actual caucusing, the des moines register going to tell the people of iowa who the people at that point like. >> they did endorse rubio. >> sure, exactly. the editorial page did. we understand donald trump is going to have that event at 8:00 tonight. >> in iowa. >> at drake university, special benefit for the vets. and trump just tweeted out in the last hour, two candidates have called him to go to his event, which is interesting. you have to figure those are two people who are on the undercard event that -- >> although he didn't say, he didn't name names but we do want to know what do you want to hear from those candidates tonight? obviously, national security, foreign policy has been big -- >> ethanol. >> and when it comes to aye things might be different. the economy surely number one for a lot of folks there.

with democrats. 56% to 34%. now, we know vermont is close to new hampshire. we get that. but no one expected that type of distance. especially after his famous no one cares about the damn e-mails. he's got a huge decision to make. does he go after her personally now or does he continue just to try to get momentum? he's nowhere in the south. he gets -- hillary clinton has 74% of the african-american vote in the south. >> in south carolina, hillary is at 64% and bernie sanders is at 27%. so she could lose the first t two -- rather win the first two, who knows what is going to happen with the first two. but ultimately because it's so close at this point, the third one, she's going to just clobber him. >> and bernie sanders might not even be her worst nightmare. according to judge napolitano he was on earlier on "fox & friends" saying that the fbi is her worst nightmare. listen. >> we are at a very, very sensitive point from mrs. clinton's point of view, which

journal" in his hands -- >> i get it on the phone. >> as long as he doesn't walk ott of the bathroom with it. >> good morning to you. i hope you're off to the great day. ten minutes after the hour. go home. that's what ammon bundy is telling the rest of the ranchers who took over the oregon wildlife refuge. three more ranchers are in federal custody today. there are a total of 11 who were arrested. bundy was arrested with 11 others. they have occupied that refuge for nearly a month now to protest federal land policy. five people under arrest this morning in the california jailbreak. none of them though are the inmates who escaped from prison. the five who were arrested are gang members. the sheriff is not saying how the five are connected to the inmates but it's believed that those inmates had outside help in breaking free because they would have needed powerful cutting tools and those tools would not have been available inside jail presumably. on friday they cut through steel bars and rappelled down if roof using bed sheets that case in

upstate new york, they got the power tools from the inside too. sweden kicking out 80,000 refugees who arrived in their country last year. their applications have since been rejected. officials say they simply cannot accept them. sweden has taken the lead on accepting refugees in europe with generous benefits. they have taken more than 160,000 in the year 2015 alone. well that number has since plummeted since new photo i.d. checks went into place this month. and back here at home, a tractor-trailer teetering off the edge of a cliff and look at this picture closely. that is a human chain of just regular folks helping out the driver of this truck. he was stranded in the cab of that truck. all these folks locking arm in arm to reach that driver who was inside the cab. the driver lost control on the icy highway in pennsylvania. he took out half a mile of

they're becoming they have to make tonight be that moment where they're not being react e reactive. but instead getting their own message out. >> all right. so lisa, what is the strategy going to be? you could pick a candidate or you can say in general, but are they going to go on the attack against donald trump while he's not there or will they seize the moment? one in which they will not have to answer to donald trump and they might even be getting a little bit more time. so what's the strategy going to be? >> i think they'll attack donald trump because he's leading in the polls in aye and new hampshire and south carolina and this is an opportunity for the attacks to go unanswered. we are talking about donald trump because he's so good at generating headlines but he hasn't won an election yet and the big knock against donald trump is a lot of his support comes from first time

>> it's a crazy story. patricia stark is here with the latest details on this. patricia, everybody is wondering what the heck happened. >> reporter: i know, the scariest part of the tistory it been nearly 24 hours after they landed and it's not clear how they got sick. the american airlines flight with 188 people on board was headed from london to los angeles. a flight attendant suddenly collapsed about 2 1/2 hours into the trip. the plane turned around over iceland and headed back to london. one passenger says the crew started asking if any doctors were on board. >> there was a lot of commotion and they immediately threw the lights on and announced that seven of the flight attendants on board had passed out were too sick to fulfill their duties. >> reporter: several ambulances met the plane after the emergency landing at heathrow airport. now, in addition to those seven attendants, at least three passengers also fell ill.

all right. president obama's plan to empty gitmo before the end of his presidency may have hit a roadblock. four republican senators are worried that certain countries cannot handle the prisoners, want to cut off foreign aid if they escape their host country and return to terrorism. essentially make them accountable. is this a good plan? and can it work? will the president cooperate? here to talk about it is a former medic at gitmo itself and author of "saving grace at guantanamo bay" major montgomery grandeur. first off, your reaction to we're under now to go to a country like ghana.

>> yeah, it's incredible. but i want to say that these senators are heroes. i'd like to challenge my new york state senators, kirstin gillibrand and chuck schumer and lee zeldin to support this legislation. these guys are the worst of the worst. when they got to gitmo, they were taken off the battlefield. they have dod dockets pages long and 30% of released detainees are known or suspected to have already returned to the battlefield. but even more important, brian, what about the 70% we don't know about? where are they? >> but the thing is they -- they want to return to the action, onsidered bush years. more likely to go back. now these guys are the worst of the worst that's why they're still there. so it's more likely -- and the senators are kurt blunt, lankford and danes and said we want to fine the countries if
