3:00 am
>> we'll be back early tomorrow. 4:00 a.m. eastern time. we'll bring you up to date overing that happens. >> we sure will. see you all then. "fox & friends" starts right now. >> bye. if we could come out of iowa with a nice victory, it's important. if the doctor says it doesn't matter, get up and caucus. get up and caucus. >> get up and caucus tomorrow night. the storm is not coming until after midnight. if you stand up for me tomorrow night, i will stand up and fight for you. >> i will unite this party and the conservative movement. i'm f i'm our nominee -- if i'm our nominee, i'm going to win. >> the energy is with our campaign. >> why me? i have a proven record y. me? i'm a proven leader. why me? whenever there was a problem, i didn't cut and run. >> you're not going to walk out confused about what i think.
3:01 am
those guys on the stage thursday night, they're trying to confuse you. you asked me a a question, i gave a direct answer. >> i want to ask everyone here to vote for me ten times. stand with us. caucus for us. if we stand together, we will win. >> live from des moines, iowa, in the heart of downtown des moines, the capital city of iowa and the heart of midtown manhattan, this is "fox & friends," a special edition because after all the speech-ifying and talking and baby kissing and all the rubber chicken dinners, today the people of iowa, tonight at 7:00 central time, will caucus. >> absolutely. and we find brian -- you are pulling overtime coming in yesterday. got on plane, and now you are in des moin des moines at the crossrods of the election.
3:02 am
>> reporter: yes. we saw five candidates try to close the deal. this is the number-one newspaper in america now. it is "the des moines register." everyone wants to know what they have to say and what the inside story is on all the candidates. what's at stake? a victory. momentum. you've got delegates, sure. but for the most part, for some of these campaigns, there might not be a tomorrow. and for others, if you come in third or fourth, maybe for marco rubio, you might be saying that is like a win. and for donald trump and senator cruz, whoever doesn't win will feel like a loss. so there's a lot at stake. and this hour, governor terry branstad is going to be here from iowa. carly fiorina will be joining us. greta van susteren on a political panel. and you'll see where -- we'll find out what it is like. i couldn't believe, guys, how many people i went up to last night who said they have not decided what to do yet.
3:03 am
>> that's right. still shopping around. >> they are. absolutely. i was talking to my cousin, angie. she's a nurse in iowa. and she's one of the people who she's heard all the speeches, she's still shopping around. her friends have started to make their decision. i'll tell you what, rich edson is joining us from waterloo, iowa, a bit away from the city of des moines. he looks at the final day of campaigning before tonight, rich, 12 hours from now they start to caucus. >> reporter: that's right. undecided and unpredictability. that's why candidates are hoping that iowa's history of surprises continues tonight. two who are hoping that's not the case -- those who are leading in the republican polls, donald trump and senator ted cruz. and as a result of that, donald trump in the western part of the state yesterday at a couple of rallies continued focusing on cruz. >> he was born in canada. a lot of people saying he can't
3:04 am
even run for the election. we'll find out. to me, that's a big problem. i see so much dishonesty in politics, jerry. >> we're not finding donald trump's troops on the ground. they don't have an organization that is perceptible. >> reporter: on the democratic side, it's former secretary of state hillary clinton leading in the polls. bernie sanders right on her heels in that one. the sanders folks hoping for a late surge here in iowa. they have a commanding lead in many of the new hampshire polls, and they're hoping that momentum, if they win here and win new hampshire, will take them deep into the nominating process. this is a state, the caucusing begins this evening. and of course, we might find out a winner tonight, or we might not. four years ago, it was mitt romney who was declared the winner. then a few days later, we figured out what it was rick santorum who had barely won. we could get a surprise tonight or in a couple of weeks. who knows. back to you. >> rich, thank you very much. that is -- was great to have the feather in his cap for rick santorum. but you missed out on the momentum mitt romney gained. >> absolutely.
3:05 am
one factor the candidates didn't see coming, a giant blizzard that could have an effect on turnout. >> that's right. our meteorologist is tracking the storm for us. what is this going to hit, maria? >> well, we're expecting some of the worst conditions into the overnight hours tonight. but i would not rule out a couple of rain or snow showers. a little bit earlier than had been predicted. i'll show you that computer model run in a second. first, i want to share the temperatures with you. they're going to be quite cold across some areas, especially northern iowa where they're going to be ranging from the teens into the 20s. southern parts of the state, suddenly temperatures will be above what's normal for this time of the year. that is welcome news. here comes our storm system. it's going to be battering early today parts of the rockies, then it quickly moves eastward. take a look at what happens by 9:00 p.m. central time. some of the green popping up on the map is some rain. and maybe even if it's cold enough, we could see snow showers. again, the worst of the conditions as we head into overnight tonight and into your tuesday. >> okay. so it should be clear driving to the hawkeye cauceye, but late
3:06 am
some trouble? >> yeah. and we can't forget about people readying their homes, animals, crops, and going to get groceries, too. >> absolutely. brian, as we go into the caucuses tonight starting at 7:00 central time, let's take a look at the polls. these were released by the "des moines register" of likely republican voters and caucus-goers tonight. it's not surprising the top three, we've gone over the last week, hasn't changed. donald trump, five points over ted cruz. and marco rubio, eight points behind ted cruz. >> and brian, this was done -- >> reporter: no doubt about it. i just want to say looking at the poll, this is what i found. i mean, if they are true to what they're saying, if the numbers are strong, it's amazing how the camps are beginning to spin it their direction. for example, governor christie says i'm going to be the number-one governor. with rubio, i just want to finish strong. with trump, i got to win this, but i don't have to win this thing. for ted cruz, he kind of boxed
3:07 am
himself in. he's got to win this thing. and last night, he almost sounded evangelical, but the one thing is that i think must be driving the candidate nuts is so many people seem to be willing and open to being persuaded to doing something else which is kind of what frank lutz found out. >> shift will cause you to flip from one to another? >> over the last three days, i've gone from trump. then we watched the debate where he didn't show up. i was a huge cruz supporter. i'd seen him in person. after megyn kelly showed him that video of his bill and amendment, and he brought it to 38 words and kept going back and forth, i didn't see him as honest anymore. now i'm with marco rubio. >> you went to three candidates in the last 48 hours? >> yep. >> there's a word for. that what it is -- >> it's not flip-flopping. >> there's a word for that. how likely are you to stay with marco rubio? >> 100%. i was able to see him in person last weekend and ask a direct question about ply family and
3:08 am
their security -- my family and their security and the way he answered with my 10-year-old with me made me solidify him as my candidate. >> i know some you like trump. you're nodding your head. >> yeah. i switched to trump. as a small business owner, i think he gives me the best opportunity to better my business and leave a legacy for my family. >> people still shopping around. what's interesting, though, apparently in iowa late last night, the republican chairman of the party out there sent a memo to all 1,682 precincts and said, you know, something's going on. we need more supplies. he said on a normal day or two before the caucuses, we might get four or five calls. we're getting 100 an hour. going -- go out and get more paper, more ballots, all this stuff you need. the weather's going to cooperate. so it looks like the people of iowa, they've been listening so long to the robo calls and seeing the commercials, they want to do something about who's going to be the next president tonight starting -- >> right. circle the wagons and start printing more of those voter
3:09 am
registration cards, too. a lot of these individuals who are supporting particularly trump and bernie sanders are first-time caucusgoers. if there is a record turnout or a large turnout, a lot of pundits are saying it will sway in their favor. >> reporter: the exact numbers, guys, basically 120 is good. 155 is great, and 155 and over with -- which congressman king talked about last night, a rock star here, goes to donald trump's category. in the big picture, you have the cruz people who know who you are and if you need a ride to get to the caucus. and the donald trump people who know roughly who you are, and you've got to get there on your own because he's going to be moving to new hampshire. we'll see what the strategy is that works. >> listen, i talked to a great political analyst, my wife, last night. she said, i don't know, i think there's going to be some surprise tonight. so it's going to be an exciting day. thanks for joining us on this first day of february. and joining us with headlines

now, heather. >> hi, steve, hi, anna. good morning you to and to brian in iowa, as well. listen to this one coming in from overseas. iran awarding victory medals to their navy sailors who captured and humiliated our american sailors. secretary of state john kerry had originally thanked the iranians for their cooperation and the release but later said on "fox & friends" that the images that came out later infuriated him. listen. >> it was very, very unfortunate, inappropriate, and -- as a former sailor, a member of the military, i was infuriated by it and expressed that -- expressed that directly to my counterpart. >> the medals are one of the highest military honors that the military can receive. back at home, two virginia tech students have been charged in a sickening crime. the death of a 13-year-old girl. 18-year-old david eisenhower faces murder charges,

everywhere. frankly, steve, this is a playbook that the clintons have used forever and ever and ever. they've conducted a poll in iowa. they know it plays well with liberal iowa caucus-goers. they're out shooting this out everywhere they can in iowa because it's going to help her. listen, she's down big in new hampshire now. if she doesn't win iowa, this could snowball. she's got to win iowa. that's where the buck is going stop for that campaign. that's why they're doing everything they are now. >> chuck, the problem for your side today is hillary clinton on caucus day talking about an fbi investigation and not why they should caucus for her. why she's the most honest and trustworthy person. i've been running campaigns for 24 years. in iowa this morning, we're talking about emails when she should be talking about her message and talking about getting folks out tonight on a cold night in iowa to go caucus. the one thing about hillary clinton, there's not a lot of people in the middle. you either really like her or you don't like her. here we are talking about it on caucus morning. she's trying to make the case of getting folk out. i don't think this plays as much in this caucus here in iowa, but
3:19 am
it's going to play in primary states around the country if it continues to be a dialogue. they should be concentrating on getting people out to caucus and not talking about emails. >> she was way ahead in iowa. now's neck and neck. it's possible a socialist could upset her tonight. what's the message for her regarding this particular e-mail situation in your sflrds. >> -- in your regards? >> if she can't move away from it, that's a winning strategy tonight going into iowa. >> chuck, i'll give you the final word. >> i think that it's going to be an interesting one. i think bernie sanders has surged. there are people sick and tired of being sick and tired and are looking at who will help most in iowa. i think it will determine the race going forward. >> tomorrow at this time, we'll know what weather on did the win -- know who did the winning. we'll talk about that, as well. thank you very much for joining us live today. >> thank you. thank you both.

3:25 am
>> i understand you're not confident that the republicans would win a majority of the black vote, but there is one republican candidate who you think the african-americans can identify with. >> it's donald trump. you know, many people probably don't like me saying that. donald trump is actually the only personbothi ining -- perso bothering to talk to black people about the vote. she has a black spokesperson, katrina pearson. in his immigration plan he talks about how deporting illegals will create black unemployment and black jobs, not pander to black lives matter. he's the only one really talking to black voters in my opinion on the republican side. >> and earlier, last year he tried to court about 100 african-american evangelical pastors. it didn't end the way he wanted it to. however, he has been quite outspoken about the scars and lack of diversity. i guess he has that going for him. on the other side of the aisle, let's talk democrats. you have a theory that they are essentially buying the

african-american vote. what do you mean? >> i think it's so sad whether it comes to the black vote. blacks have shown a slavish support for the democrat party for over 50 years. part of me wonders if the republican party should even bother asking for the black vote because black americans seem to like being political dummies. there's -- you know, we're the only race that has voted lock, stock, and barrel for the same party for over 50 years. so you know, it's really on lockdown. you know what, people -- hillary clinton is already owning the black vote. and i think she's owning it because, oh, she was married to the first black president. i mean, that's all democrats have to do. it's a sad state of affairs for blacks when all they have to do is pander an insult to black americans day in and day out. it's like we've given up on ourselves economically by voting for democrats. >> i understand you told one of our producers when we were talking about the segment yesterday, blacks don't care about policies.
3:27 am
if they don't care about policies, what -- what does that mean? >> black americans only care about policies mildly if a black conservative runs. that's the kiss of death. if a black conservative runs, a black candidate like carson, herman cane, you can kiss the black vote good-bye in my opinion. automatically blacks will call you an uncle tom, dismiss you outright. they might scrutinize your policies a little bit. but isn't it funny, steve, that when a black liberal runs like barack obama, they say, okay, we'll vote for you. we'll be dumb, stupid. we're going to keep voting for you even though our lives are worse under the first black president. >> just because there's a "d" after their night. >> right. and the race card, steve. i can be a black liberal, and black voters won't question my policies. isn't that that anesthetic? can't we do better -- pathetic? can't we do better? >> check out "the con job: he democrats gave us crime,

that was great. small, intimate affair. so rick santorum's gone so we should, too. next stop, bernie sanders. >> i think i'm at the right place. bernie sanders. not even his bus, and look at the size of this line. are you for bernie? >> yes. >> so you've decided? >> yes. >> will you caucus? >> yes. >> just a few hours away. if he's worried about turnout one thing is for sure, they turned out today. we've got a busy night still ahead. we're off to see chris christie. >> what are you looking for? what are you going to listen for? >> i like president with a backbone to be honest with you. and i country christie has that. >> i don't have my mind made up yet. >> and so chris christie has a chance of winning over lisa? >> yes, sure. absolutely. >> do you know what you're going to say? >> i have an idea of what i'll say. but you know me. you've dealt with me long enough. listen i'm not rubio. okay. i don't work off a prepared script. >> governor chris christie from new jersey.
5:40 am
>> why a pub? why is that the perfect place? >> because i get much better looking and more charming when people are drinking, brian. >> you have one more stop to make. it's ted cruz. he's having a rally. got to leave the bar. here we are at the fairgrounds. this is the site of ted cruz's late night show. a lot of people say you have a ton of great candidates, why ted? >> because he's pro-life, he's pro-marriage, and he's so constitutional. >> for cruz it's win it all or it's going to come out like a loss. the other big question is how many people here are from iowa and how many will actually caucus. a busy day yesterday -- >> wait a minute. i think they changed locations. where are you guys? what are you doing? >> shhh -- >> i think it's time to let you know what it is like living at the embassy suites. >> okay. >> we're going to knock on somebody's door right now. now -- >> just anybody? >> who have you seen here? >> could it be geraldo's lair? >> no. >> could be it ellen combs?
5:41 am
>> no. >> just knock on the door! >> could it be neil cavuto? >> might be. >> could it be kimberly guilfoyle? who's in room 232 at the embassy suites. >> oh, man. >> oh, my gosh! it is eric! >> tucker. >> look at you guys. >> i'm going for a run. you guys coming with? >> you're going to go for a run? >> wait a second. are you doing this for the morning show audience to make them think you get up this early? >> you know i run here every single day. >> i see you every morning. you run inside right around the rooms. >> the whole up and down the river. it's a beautiful run. 28 degrees. it's perfect. >> all right. >> all right. >> going to go for a run. there they go. leeing the pack. >> by the way, eric is not going to sleep in that room tonight, so don't go to that room, knocking on the door, thinking he's there. because he's going to move. >> and a married man. >> there you go.
5:42 am
>> and there they go jogging. >> around the ring of the atrium. that's funny. >> all right coming up on this monday we have a lot of program left. carly fiorina is on deck. >> yes, she is. >> also you have a very special surprise for us. someone is waiting in the wings. who could it be? super bowl guest and super bowl snacks with sally doocy. >> queso. caucus queso. when account lead craig wilson books at laquinta.com. he gets a ready for you alert the second his room is ready. so he knows exactly when he can settle in and practice his big pitch. and when craig gets his pitch down pat, do you know what he becomes? great proposal! let's talk more over golf! great. better yet, how about over tennis? even better. a game changer! your 2 o'clock is here. oops, hold your horses. no problem. la quinta inns & suites is ready for you, so you'll be ready for business. the ready for you alert, only at lq.com. laquinta!

all right. we're continuing our live coverage from iowa in the beautiful embassy suites, the nerve center of the fox news coverage. our next guest will make her final pitch to the american people and the people of iowa today before tonight's caucus. republican presidential candidate carly fiorina joins us. carly, thanks so much. great to see you again. >> great to see you. >> seems like yesterday when you were releasing your biography, releasing your story to the
5:46 am
country. and you said to everyone, for everyone to know, no one knew who you were back then. >> that's right. >> in what way did you accomplish your goal in getting your name out? >> first of all this is not the end of the process, this is the beginning of the process. despite all the discussion for the last ten months, people only start voting now. we're leaving here and heading to new hampshire. but, you're right, i started out 17 out of 16 candidates. less than 4% of the people here had ever heard of me. >> right. >> and we're going to surprise here in iowa tonight. >> so, in what way do you feel as though -- you did not have an opportunity maybe to capitalize the momentum that you got for a period there. do you have anything you can learn from iowa to take to new hampshire? >> well, i disagree with the premise of your question. i don't judge how this campaign is going by the polls. and the reason i don't is because the polls are so quickly wrong. they've been wrong over and over and over again. and they're particularly wrong in iowa. they have historically been so wrong in iowa. so i know what i see on the ground. i know we're packing people in. i know who says they were
5:47 am
undecided until they came to see me. so we're going to exceed expectations in iowa, just as we have all along the way. and despite the fact that the game is rigged in a lot of ways we're going to keep going. >> in what respect is it rigged? >> let's see, the political establishment didn't like the fact that there were so many candidates. the establishment decided we had to have really few debates. the media decided they were going to pick who was on what stage because of the polls. all that has nothing to do with the voters. voters show up. and the voters actually aren't paying attention to the polls. and they're not paying attention to the pundits. they're showing up and making their minds. i've had i would say 20 events in the last 48 hours. and you'd be amazed how many people walked in, undecided, and how many people walked out caucusing for me. so we're going to surprise. >> that sounds a lot like the santorum story from four years ago. in retrospect, what number would you be happy with? and what would exceed your expectations? and what would go below your expectations? >> i'm not going to give you a number, i'm just going to say
5:48 am
we're going to surprise in iowa tonight and get on a plane and go to new hampshire. >> and you'll be there tomorrow. >> yes, i will. >> what events you have today? >> i'm going to several caucus events and i have local radio all day today. >> carly fiorina, thanks so much. meanwhile straight ahead on our show, steve has a special treat for us. he's cooking, i understand, for everyone in new york. but he had to bring his daughter sally to help and i think it's a great move. but first let's check in with bill hemmer and martha maccallum because we have exclusive insight on what's coming up for their next two hours. >> come on over here, brian. hey, it's 12 paces. >> hi, brian. >> can you make it in time? we've got an awesome show coming up, because -- >> we do. >> finally -- >> it's finally here. >> you can put all the b.s. to the side now, because this is when it matters. this is -- >> hey! >> brian's in town. >> hello, brian. >> i just want to wish you the best of luck. >> i was laughing at you guys running around up there. >> you might want to try it?
5:49 am
>> was eric wearing a robe? >> so we got a lot coming up. and we're going to get rawlins and trippy to tell us their three, two, one in that order >> three, two, one finish. >> who comes in third, who comes in second, who comes in first and why. all that and much more on caucus day when we see you in a few minutes. >> see you then. oh remotes, you've had it tough.

come on steve, you're not supposed to drop it. you may not know this but steve doocy whips up a mean queso dip and he's here with his wonderful daughter sally to tell us how to do it. >> that's right. all this week we're going to be looking at super bowl dishes. sally how long has this particular recipe been a doocy
5:53 am
family favorite? >> dad learned it apparently during his bachelor years. >> oh, yes. >> and charmed my mom with the recipe and he's been making it a couple times a year. >> with the two ingredients, right? >> that's right. this is so simple. this is a producer friend of mine showed me how to make the row tell dip, it is two things a can of rotel and velveeta. anybody can do this. because sally is here i'm going to show you how simple. first thing is you take a block of velveeta. and what do you do with it? >> dice it up into little pieces. >> all right. let's see here. >> so, just about that size. >> now we should also point out that this is not per se what we always have super bowl sunday. >> no. mom every year makes her world famous chili recipe. >> yeah, she does. but -- >> but she does not want to reveal the recipe on national television. >> she didn't want to share her secrets, huh? >> that's right. >> and where did i get the
5:54 am
recipe for this? >> from the side of the can >> yeah, from the side of the can. >> and it has to be velveeta, though? you have tried it with regular cheddar cheese. >> we tried it with the fancy cheese and it just wasn't right. >> so then over like how hot is that? >> it's the medium temperature. >> or a crock pot? >> exactly. just throw it in. >> and you stir. >> come on, sally, just throw the whole thing in. this is not the food network. not yet. so you do that. and then what's the other -- you've done one ingredient. what's the other one? >> the second is the rotel. so then you just pour it in. you don't have to -- no draining. >> and rotel i didn't know is just tomatoes and green chilies. >> yeah. there are other brands but that's my favorite. absolutely my favorite. >> this is for the magic of television after about five minutes it winds up like this. >> is it better with a blue corn chip or regular corn chip? >> try it. >> i'll try it with a blue corn chip. >> all right. >> mm-hmm.
5:55 am
>> and because today the iowa caucuses we're going to have this tonight at our house. we're going to call it -- >> caucus queso. >> caucus queso >> the other thing that we always do at the doocy house for super bowl is sally generally always finds some fantastic dessert. this year she discovered a place called black tap new york city, and these are some of the milkshakes that peopleville been standing in line for three hours for. they're $15. they're about a foot and a half tall. but they're unbelievable. >> and they make great instagram photos. sally, isn't this real nearby where the famous cronut is in town, as well? >> yes, down there -- >> yes. >> downtown, right? >> yes. >> mm-hmm. if you would like the recipe, here it is. velveeta, and a can of rotel. >> and a black tap milk shake. >> tomorrow my husband is going to be on the program. he's australian so we're making aussie meat pie and a massive
