polls, ted cruz was up almost 4% over the poles and the real winner seems is marco rubio who came in six points ahead of where the clear politics average of the polls. >> we points and of the des moines register poll that is supposed to be the gold standard and everyone considered a lock down saturday night. marco rubio is the story. he has the same amount of delegates as donald trump. they each have seven. he basically missed bob heintz and almost eclipsed him. that is the question this week, as does donald trump go after marco rubio? who does the attack? who does he try to bring down to keep a commanding lead. for marco rubio this is a moment for him to consolidate support among the establishment and say the campaign was saying last night if you don't want ted cruz or donald trump it is time to get on board which means no more support for chris christie, these are going to be interesting days and weeks to come, they hope they can find out port in the storm and if it

rest of the country. the only state that has a greater percentage of democratic primary voters is south carolina and the southern states and nevada. hillary clinton's advantage in south carolina is 37 points. as you move past the first two states you will have a different set of challenges for sanders and a different electorate. jenna: that's not what sanders says. do you think he's overly optimistic and do you agree with bernard or do you think he will be on a roll here? >> the fact that a 74-year-old self-described socialist from a small state can tie hillary clinton from iowa and will probably be the winner in new hampshire shows the clinton machine is week at best and how weak she is as a nominee.

the democratic establishment can fool themselves into believing there is a fire wall in the southern states. and demographics are what gets hillary clinton the nomination. there are just as many states that favor bernie sanders with this demographic. and that discounts the fact that the single digest determinant is -- the single biggest determinant is winning. as you win you get more people on your side. we had one superdelegate in south carolina twitch from hillary clinton to bernie sanders. the dems can fool themselves that they have this fire wall in the south, but they have their superdelegates to make sure he doesn't get if the nomination. jenna: a lot of the iowa democrats describe themselves as

what is the state of the democratic party. >> i think that was not debbie wasserman-schultz's finest hour. socialists believe in big government solutions, tax the rich and soak corporations. democrats believe in a market economy that needs proper regulations and guidance and believes in the market to help solve the problems. the fundamental realities of the electric that show bernie sanders will do well in iowa and new hampshire. but 30% of democrats are not socialists. they tend to be more centrist and pragmatic. democrats want a progressive who can win and bring healthcare to everyone. not someone with great ideas but ultimately the solutions are not

going to work. jenna: it seems like that could be a defining variable of what a republican is. what do you think this means for the republican party and there is a battle within the party to define what a democrat is versus a socialist. >> bernard can better define who they are than their current chairman can. democrats have superdelegates in place for a reason. it's so if they don't like who the voters select they can put someone else in. for all of those folks still hoping elizabeth warren or joe biden become the nominee, as the seem scandal continues to percolate around hillary clinton an indictment could company time. the fact that she is losing to persony sanders, rules can be made to change.

hegseth and gillian turner formerly of the white house national security staff under presidents busch and obama. the chiefs of police are obviously worried about isis and its ability to reach into america and recruit terrorists right here at home. why can't we be better at preventing that? >> it's a relatively new threat. in the aftermath of 9/11. counter-terrorism officials were focused on two kind of terrorism. foreign and domestic. with the emergence of isis on the scene two years ago, that pair dime has been blown wide open with hope grown terrorism. and what we now know is through the internet, isis is able to connect with people they never had physical contact with and inspire them to commit acts in their names. this is the kind of threat we are facing at home.

reporter: the vast majority of terror attacks have been conducted by people who have lived in this country at least five years. what does that say about the ideology and it appeal? >> you are exactly right. even though we have concerns about our southern borderer which is porous. the problem we face is this hope grown aspect. it's not just a big city thing. there is a police chief with central wisconsin at the hearing as well. it's not just boston and new york, it's across the country. when the threat is so disparate. you don't know where it' going to manifest itself. these are folks with legal status. and what studies have shown is there is no litmus test of gender, of class, of age, of job -- job satisfaction. they are muslims with some level of extremism.
