here in new hampshire, bernie sanders and, of course, donald trump, who crushed his republican competition. >> you were so funny yesterday. i loved how during one of the blocks you had donald trump actually in the kitchen before he came out to juminterview. maybe you brought him luck. >> he office fire. >> on the show today, governor jeb bush feeling good about the results last night. senator marco rubio with the most interesting speech after a primary that i have heard. and donald trump will be here live. steve, to give a taste, you actually did something i've never seen before -- talk to a candidate right before they're about to give their victory speech. >> that's right. we'll see that in a minute. the big headline out of new hampshire this morning are the trump train -- hoot, hoot -- rolled with 35%, crushing the balance of the republican candidates. also john kasich, we wonder

who'd would be number two, it's the guy from ohio. then ted cruz who had so much wind at his back after iowa, he comes in third. but the question is, who after that? right now it looks like jeb bush and marco rubio, who i think everybody would agree has had not a very good couple of days after the iowa debate. >> yeah. that splintered field -- >> in new hampshire. >> that splintered field, many pundits saying, actually helps donald trump because nobody is really emerging. some campaigns in question, governor chris christie, carly fiorina, and dr. ben carson. >> right. just on those precincts reporting, still 8% have to file in. so at 92%, just thousands of votes separating them. we could find out how the delegates are going to be divided and how the candidates are positioned. on the democratic side, no surprise that bernie sanders won. what was a surprise is the margin of victory, steve. he wins by 22 points. >> 22 points. and that, of course, is after an

uncomfortable win by hillary clinton in iowa by less than 1%. >> you know, of course, yesterday, and anna you mentioned a moment ago, we had donald trump in the kitchen. when he was here, i said, hey, tonight before the big speech, how about if i come over and talk to you. as it turned out, after he was declared the winner -- and for a while on one of the other channels he was in the 40s. when he was declared the winner between his victory sweep and the victory party, i was standing right there, and we talked to him with the first on-camera one on one. donald trump, congratulations. >> thank you very much, steve. great honor. >> you know, are you surprised at the margin? it's a big number. >> it is a big number. it was across the board. i'm thrilled. men and women, young and old. i'm so happy about it. >> reporter: you know we're a one-man turnout machine, yesterday you said if you're sick, i don't care if your wife is leaving you --

>> they listened, and they were great. the people have been incredible. new hampshire's a wonderful place. you know, i told you i know new hampshire long before the electoral thing. and it is just a wonderful, wonderful place. and now tonight we'll be going to south carolina which is another one. we were there last week. we filled up the stadium. it was incredible, with the people. a lot of love in south carolina. but new hampshire, the people have treated us so well. happy about it. >> reporter: a year ago, you were just a businessman, running a big business. now just won the new hampshire primary. how does that happen? >> well, i don't know. i mean, it was a message, we'll make america great again. very simple, we'll make america great again. trade, military, vets, we're going to get rid of obamacare, we're going to come up with something that's so good, so much less expensive for people. they're suffering with health care, and we're going to do some special things. >> yeah. you have said on the campaign trail that you start getting some wins, you might change the tone. you going to change the tone a

little bit? >> i think i will a little bit. when we started, we had 17 people not including the dems. we had a lot of people and have to be aggressive. but as we get closer, i think we'll change it a little. >> steve in a half hour we'll see the rest of it -- >> that's exactly right. you'll see more exclusively on "fox & friends." >> that was so interesting. you stopped the trump train. behind was every trump on the planet. they're on their way. they had to talk to you first. >> that's right. >> so let's talk it who came in number two and the big stories to emerge. governor kasich said that's my wateralthou ds wat waterloo. you have to take your hat off to governor kasich who had over 100 town halls. thousands of doors knocked on. his team turned out. he was elated to get his 16%, steve. >> absolutely. and then you've got somebody else who was here in the diner with us yesterday. that is governor chris christie.

he did not have a good showing. and keep in mind, a lot of people thought, well, after he completely took apart marco rubio in the debate, this past weekend he might do better. as it turns out, he did not. now his campaign is on life support. he's going back to new jersey later today. and he's not even going to qualify for the debate coming up this weekend. >> some numbers we gave yesterday is that governor christie has $1.4 million in the bank heading in to south carolina should he decide to go. we haven't heard any reason to believe he isn't going. but the punch is that he -- punches he landed on senator rubio hurt him. even if it didn't help christie too much, as we're seeing with the numbers as they come in. but we heard senator rubio initially after saturday's performance unapologetic saying, i'll say it again, i'm trying to separate myself from president obama, slamming his record, saying it over and over. now yesterday after watching the numbers come in, he says, yes, i did poorly on saturday. and that may have affected my performance in the voting in new

hampshire. let's listen. >> our disappointment tonight is not on you. it's on me. it's on me. i did not -- i did not do well on saturday night. so listen to this -- that will never happen again. >> steve, i've never heard anything quite like that. and i thought it was refreshing. instead of blaming, instead of saying we're going to move on, instead of saying, blurring what happened, i take responsibility, i learned from it. i'm moving on to south carolina. he really, if he had kept the momentum going, theoretically, he could have knocked out kasich, come in second, and sent a message to cruz. instead, cruz is a solid third. and governor kasich, even though he doesn't have much support as of yet in the south, feels as though he can live to fight another day. >> right. surely. and last night, when some of the early exit polls were coming in, i sent a simple note on text message, i wrote, "brian, you owe me a dollar."

the -- you wrote back question mark, question mark, question mark. the reason was last week we were talking about who would come in at number two. i said kasich. i think you thought i was crazy. you owe me a dollar when i come to town tomorrow. >> i'll pay you a dollar, but i still think you're crazy. >> all right. >> so steve, now i know. >> okay. that was good. steve's going to tell us exclusively about the interview. there's more from it in the hall, stopping the trump train. it's fantastic. congratulations on doing that. meanwhile, what about the left side of the democratic bill? >> yeah. we'll look at the democrats now. hillary clinton feeling the bern this morning. losing to bernie sanders by double digits. >> more now from manchester and that part of the race. rich? >> reporter: good morning. the polls and predictions had bernie sanders winning. for him to capture momentum, he was going to have win significantly here, and he has done so. hillary clinton fails to mitigate much of that damage.

60% go to bernie sanders, according to the exit poll or pollings that we're seeing now, with 92% reporting. 38% for hillary clinton. so for bernie sanders, it's a winning message among democrats, an almost singular focus on wall street and what he calls the influence of wealthy americans. >> together we have sent the message that will echo from wall street to washington, from maine to california. [ cheers ] >> i know i have some work to do, particularly with young people. i will repeat again what i have said this week. [ cheers ] even if they are not supporting me now, i support them. >> the nevada caucuses are up next. those are in ten days. the real clear politics average of polls taken before this primary had hillary clinton up about 20% points. sanders hoping that changes now with a major victory here in new

strategies examining that. lisa booth joins us to look at who probably will not go on. just looking at the -- the leader board. great to see you. it's trump with 35, kasich, 16, cruz roughly now at 12 followed by jeb bush at 11, rubio at 11, christie at 8, fiorina at 4, carson at 2. you look at the bottom and wonder who -- who is going to move on with strength to south carolina. what do you think? >> you do wonder that. no republican candidate has gone on to win the nomination without -- in the last 40 years, without winning iowa or new hampshire. part of what these early states provide is it's about money and momentum. it's about making sure that your donors feel that you have a path to victory. it's about delegates, as well. right now if you're a chris christie, carly fiorina or carson, it's hard to make the case to your donors and voters to stay with you. if you see someone like ben

carson, yes, he's raising money. that might keep him in a little bit longer because of that fact. >> ben carson says i'm going on. carly fiorina says i'm making plansing to to nevada and -- plans to go to nevada and south carolina. what about chris christie with only $1 million left in the bank. what do you think? >> i think it's tough for him. there are so many candidates in that establishment lane where he is. john kasich's second-place finish helps give him momentum and show that he deserves to stay? the race. auto -- stay in the race. jeb bush can argue to donors that he can stay in the race. if you're chris christie, where does your support come from when there's all these other individuals that are sort of in that establishment lane that are taking up the delegates that you need to get through and to make it to south carolina and beyond. i think that's a difficult case for him to make at this moment. >> you know, what's interesting is that even though as of now governor jeb bush only has a point differential between him

and rubio, rubio disappointed, bush feels invigorated. he's got a good ground game in place and his brother poised to help. >> here's the thing about marco rubio. i mean, he kind of set up this expectation game that he was going to be this 3-2-1 strategy, that he was going to get third-place finish in iowa, second in new hampshire, and going to win south carolina. i think that case gets a little bit more difficult for him to build because you've got to win one of these early primary states. the difficulty for a lot of these guys is there are so many strong candidates that have deep pockets, that are able to raise money, that got strong donor bases. it's difficult to go the distance unless you get a win under your belt. for marco rubio, i think it's going to be tough. he's got to try to win south carolina. he's got to win one of these states. >> he's got big endorsements. probably the best ground game out donald trump would be ted cruz. it's going to be fascinating. we'll talk to you again. >> it will. thank you very much. coming up straight ahead, hillary clinton burned by bernie sanders.

will a split democratic party only help to serve donald trump? let's ask two democrats joining us. from the accountability project and democratist strategist jessica tarlov. thanks for joining us. you were with us yesterday trying to figure out the spread. one said over ten. one said under ten -- >> i was way wrong. >> i won! >> 22 points. jessica, what's the biggest issue? is it that honesty and trustworthy number? >> absolutely. when you look ted exit polls and -- looked at the exit polls and 11% said that experience mattered, and bernie sanders won honesty and trustworthiness, i think 95-5. i think there's no other explanation from this. the voters don't trust her, especially the young voters. bernie sanders won every single demographic group. i can't remember the last time we saw this. women, men, blue-collar workers. it was an extraordinary showing, and congratulations to the sanders camp. >> and you heard from hillary

clinton herself. young people may not be supporting me now, but i support you. bernie sanders seems to be stealing that valuable voting block from her, particularly young women. >> trust is a big factor. bernie sanders is also talking about the issues that they care about. they're worried about the economy. they want to break up the big banks. if you want things to stay as they are, hillary clinton is your choice as a democrat. but for those who are still hurting, who want to break up the big banks, raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, who want to end massive incarceration, you know, bernie sanders is the guy. and that's -- those are the issues that those under 44, not entirely young people, care about. and that's the future of the party. >> well, having a split party certainly affects the messaging and money. and that doesn't help. mr. trump was on our program yesterday. he said this about hillary clinton -- >> hillary has a dose of trump two weeks ago when she called my sexist. i know many people in the campaign. the last person she wants to run

against is me. i just would love to run against her. i don't know that she's going to get the chance. she's got a lot of problems. >> jessica, despite what trump says, you think it's senator rubio that they're scared of. >> i do, absolutely. i don't think that donald trump scares hillary clinton actually. i mean, right now i think bernie sanders is what scares her. and we are heading into states where she has a firmer hold. as we discussed yesterday, bernie sanders has been doing better with groups as they get to know him. she's got to work hard to keep the minority vote as we head south. but marco rubio to me is the ticket on the gop side to win a national election. >> and what do you say? >> i agree with jessica that everybody is scared of marco rubio. i wouldn't doubt donald trump. i think people are surprised by what he's done. the ability to attract the working class white vote that used to be a democratic vote, to attract independents who slightly lean liberal on social issues, those are key demographics that hillary clinton needs to win. and the more she -- this primary trots out, the more money she's spending. and he has all the money in the

mislanski and partners. let's go inside the numbers and start with most important issue to the voters who showed up in new hampshire according to our exit polls. >> the economy. number one. second is jobs, third is spending. fourth is security. this is nothing new. what i think is interesting about this, as you think about this has been a concern for years and years. they said the status quo isn't working. we want something new. trump won on every one of these issues. >> interesting. inflation's down, unemployment in new hampshire is below the average in at almost 3%. still they're concerned about the economy. who's the best to handle the economy? it's like the leader board. >> it is like the leader board. trump, 19%, bush, 11%. on the candidate that will best handle the economy. it broke out exactly how the election went because the economy is the number-one --

most. >> it's because he spent his life in business. not necessarily because he unveiled a big business plan. >> he uses the language of business. he's going to make deals, run thing like nobody's run things before. people think he's going to run things differently than before. >> this was the question ask englewood at best candidate to handle a traf attack should it happen. we know yesterday james clammer office television in a hearing saying we expect an voice attack in year in america. number one, sdpluwuone, donald ? >> donald trump. across the board he windows things most important to people. what i thought was fascinating, in new hampshire, 90% of voters are afraid there's going to be another terrorist attack coming soon. while it isn't the number one, two, or three issue, it is top of mind. if they think trump is the one to handle it, they're going to support him. >> and of course governor kasich says, well, i love the exit polls. if south carolina feels the same way, i'll be in second there, too. he was second about every.

hampshire's basket. spending an amazing amount of time there. holding more than 100 town hall meetings. he had to win or get second in this, didn't he? >> plus he really ran an optimistic, sunny campaign up here. and yesterday when we were doing the program, we had a number of people say they were going to vote for trump and a number of to vote for kasich which is something we hadn't heard so much in iowa. and then a lot of people of course also voted for bernie sanders. >> yeah. steve, i want to add this too. this is a double win for donald trump because second place with kasich makes him feel better about the first place because kasich won't be a threat in the southment he doesn't have the framework there. you have ted cruz who does have a solid foundation there. marco rubio who's building one and jeb bush who has one. the person who came in second is the person that probably won't come in second in south carolina. so maybe creates even more distance. to see how they handle donald trump in first, now when they're

in the debate space in a few days there's also -- it's also going to be interesting because he was barely attacked last week. >> that's right. one of the things about bernie sanders on the democratic side, he won by 22 points in new hampshire. >> unbelievable. >> what is actually more unbelievable than that that fact is the fact that hillary had been so far ahead of him in one year, there was a 66 point swing. he won by 22. and yet over the last year, 66 point difference. people up here in new hampshire absolutely love their bernie. >> right. >> yeah, he's from the neighboring state of vermont so that helped him as well. really the young people just on fire for bernie sanders. and it's causing big problems for hillary clinton, for young women voters trying to court them in particular. >> yeah, the exit polls reveal that hillary clinton only one won demo over 65. she lost under 45.

she lost independents. she lost income inequality. on the honesty level she was trounced, 91% looked at bernie as more honest. where she did do good is on pure democratic votes. on pure democrats, it was 43-43. so sanders took advantage of first time voters and a lot of independents and undeclared. >> and one other thing about the fact that just there's such a wide disparity between bernie and hillary regarding trustworthiness. that's one of the things we heard a lot here. the other big loser after last night was really the pundit class. because so many particularly in the establishment have dismissed donald trump. you know, once people actually start voting he's going to cave. well you know what, people here in new hampshire turned out. didn't cave. had a strong finish. he crushed the competition. finishing in the mid 30s. >> looking for final numbers on

turnout, but what a salute to the people of new hampshire. new records of people who found their way to the polls yesterday which shows you democracy is healthy. at least in that state. >> absolutely. and perhaps it was donald trump and bernie sanders who got so many people interested that they registered yesterday for the very first time to vote and they did. >> yeah. a lot of people wondered if the enthusiasm and the big crowds would translate into big votes and it did. steve, we'll check back in with you in a bit, but right now, heather nauert has what else is making news. >> a couple of other things to tell you about. a thousand people on board the nightmare cruise to the caribbean will be home tonight. terrified passengers watched that. it was a royal caribbean ship that sailed directly into a winter storm with 30 foot waves and hurricane force winds. well, that ship will dock later in new jersey.

so fourth place. good enough for you? >> absolutely. i would have preferred to have been first place, but donald trump is a phenomena for sure. and now we move to south carolina where i can lay out my agenda to rebuild the military, to keep us safe. to share my heart for the concerns that people have right now that are living paycheck to paycheck, to grow our economy. and people in south carolina have always been good to my family and i intend to be working hard here. >> governor bush, one of the exit polls will show -- we'll show our viewers now shows how many voters would like to see a political outsider, and here's what donald trump is coming in at 61%. and ted cruz at 10%. the term establishment has almost become a dirty word in some circles. how will you turn that around starting in hilton head, south carolina? >> well, anna, i'm in the part of the establishment because i'm the proud son of george h.w.

bush and barbara bush and the brother of george bush. i never lived in washington. i was a disrupter when i was governor of the state of florida. i turned the state capital upside down. we have candidates that are preying on people's fears but there's nothing in their background to suggest they can solve the problem. i apply conservative principles to do that in tallahassee. that's the story i tell in south carolina. >> well, governor, everyone who sees you at the town halls says you get better. in the debates the same thing. one of your plans in south carolina is not only reportedly to have your brother come out, but you plan essentially a scorched earth attack against kasich and rubio -- >> you know, i read that memo. that was one of the politico stories that was a bunch of you

know what. there's nothing being planned scorched earth. this is something that the pundits play. i'm going to lay out how i'm the best person to beat hillary clinton. >> is it up to you to go after donald trump and at the same time, separate yourself from him? >> yes, sir. that is true. look, donald trump needs to be challenged. he's the front running candidate for the republican nomination, i'm the only one who challenged him. you get a lot of blow back when you do it, but he's not proposing any serious solutions to the problems that people face. he's basically saying that life is bad. well, we get that. now we need -- all the candidates need to be challenged about their ideas to lift people up and mr. trump isn't doing that, that's for sure. he's basically tearing people down. we'll never win the presidency with that approach. i'll continue to take him on. >> governor bush, thank you for your time. >> thank you. >> enjoy hilton head.

we're doing to win this campaign. we're going to win this primary. it's important for the country and i'm fired up about that. >> well, senator rubio, when you say it's not going to happen again, what do you mean by that? as we famously now know chris christie was hammering you, clobbering you about the fact that some of your answers sounded like rehearsed sound bites that you repeated over and over. does that mean you'll completely blow off your narrative? >> no. first of all, it's silly because all the guys repeat over and over again. i can give you five lines they say every single day. but beyond that, let me say that the difference is this. i went into the debate in the hopes that the republicans didn't have to attack one another. i didn't want to spend 60 seconds beating up on another republican because i think it helps the democrats. hillary clinton would pay for us to do that all night long, but we're not at a stage where we need to be clear about our

record. this line that i have no experience is absurd. it's true i haven't lived as long as some of the other running for president, but i have more more foreign policy than some of them. the most important job of a president is to be commander in chief and keep this country safe. we'll talk about the future of this country, which is what all elections is all about, but never more so than right now. i'll continue to say this. barack obama is undermining this country, he is hurting this country. he's doing serious damage to this country that i believe is part of a plan to weaken america on the global stage. this is the truth. we better recognize that the differences between republicans and democrats are not small. they are massive. and this election is about that difference. and ensuring we choose the right road. if we stay on the road we're on right now, our children are going to be badly hurt by that. >> well, when you're talking about national security, one of the exit poll questions was about are you worried about a terror attack? when you look at the breakdown

about who scored well on the republican side, donald trump wound up with 35% of the people who responded to the exit pollers. kasich had 15. cruz had 12 and marco rubio had just 11%. why do you think donald trump wound up with a number three times yours? >> well, look, the number you just read me sounds just like the number he got on the ballot. so clearly when people support someone, they think they're good at everything. that's why they support them. i wasn't too focused on that. i know how to stop terrorism and it isn't with a series of speeches with harsh words. you won't scare isis by saying you'll destroy them. don't the voters deserve to know how the next president of the united states is going to specifically confront a terrorist like isis? it's not enough to -- you know, to elect someone who talks mean, but you have to know what the plan is. we have a plan that works and it's one that i think the people of south carolina are going to rally behind. >> absolutely. all right.

to be a degree of panic. she is talking about rejiggering her campaign on the inside to get set to change the message in south carolina. on the republican side, no surprise. donald trump does what he's supposed to do. in fact, he outdid his poll numbers with 92,000 votes. 35%. currently kasich is a solid second, but cruz, bush and rubio are within a point of each other. third, fourth and fifth. >> right. and just one other thing about what our exit pollers found out yesterday. new hampshire is a state of notorious late deciders and over half the people who cast votes yesterday in what looks like could be a record turnout, over half of them didn't decide until the last couple of days who they were going to vote for. >> they went for trump, many of them. we have a special guest joining us now. candace cameron bure, co-host of

"the view." we want to get your thoughts on last night's results. >> i think i'm like everyone else, i'm choosing at the last minute. >> so interesting, you're into this stuff. >> i have to be now. >> so i mean, usually california and new york, they're not involved in the primary process. but now you're on "the view" you're pounding things like this. so to see bernie and hillary, doesn't that surprise you? >> yeah it's surprising. but i remember several months ago there was a university that had predicted every presidency since 1970 something accurately. they had predicted bernie sanders which -- to win. and so -- >> that's stunning. >> there's in the back of my mind. but it's pretty amazing. i think everyone thought that hillary was the sure thing. bernie is just taking over. >> then on the gop side, many have criticized donald trump for not being conservative enough. what do you think? >> you know, i don't think think that's a -- there's a perfect

candidate, but for me it's who's going to work with both parties and get things done. and put america back in the american people and not the government. >> i was shocked to see the former secretary of state -- i knew they were friends, but when she said this would be a cold place in hell if a woman doesn't support another woman for a candidate for president, i thought to myself, really? what about carly fiorina? what about condoleezza rice? i didn't see her going to bat for her. >> first of all, anyone that can even joke if it was a joke about hell, there's nothing to me that's funny about that. if anyone actually read their bible and saw the description of hell, it's disgusting. but it's -- there's so many women that aren't -- that are not pro-choice, that are pro-life. and to put them -- to say they're not feminists, that they're not -- that they're anti-women if they're not supporting another woman, you know, that's to me what's wrong

bernie sanders last night. >> this time though what's different is republicans seem to have a compassion strategy. at the debate the other night, ted cruz told a story i had not heard before about his half-sister and her struggles with abuse. drug abuse. >> talking about that drug issue. i was in the filing set center at that debate and the media fell completely silent during his story. >> i think his voice cracked during the story. >> it was a moving story and when you look at the google analytics the two top moments googled were ted cruz talking about his half-sister and drug abuse and marco rubio talking about his brother and the struggles at the v.a. they tugged at the heart strings first. that's what bill clinton was good at and hillary needs to improve. >> you mentioned marco rubio when he told the story about his brother and having trouble getting the care he needed from

steve, absolutely. he actually outdistanced the polls and had him up in front. i think some on level, we'll ask him, did he have any doubt after iowa had him leading and then ultimately he came in second. did he have any doubt that they were accurate? finished with 35% of the vote. kasich came in second. he should be proud. ted cruz spent very little but did very well. and jeb bush who spent $36 million on new hampshire did do enough to stay alive and stay viable in the south. and marco rubio seemed to underperform, one point back of jeb bush. >> just like iowa, will new hampshire do the same in question? for chris christie and ben carson and carly fiorina, we have no indication at all they plan on suspending their campaigns but their results not coming in close. en carson says i'm moving and carly fiorina says i have

plans for the next two states and governor christie says i'm going home, he's going home for a change of clothes and to evaluate. we knew he was all in, and to end up in single digits must be heart breaking for him. don't you think, steve? >> absolutely. as we have learned over the last couple of days after new hampshire the big question is where does the money go? the donors, where do they go? if you see what chris christie did yesterday, the money probably dries up. the money not drying up for bernie sanders, though. he clobbered hillary clinton on the democratic side. he won by a margin of 22 points. and i quoted the stats earlier. over the last year, there have been a 66 point swing from hillary to bernie. that's one of the reasons why this morning, they're talking about -- well, maybe a shakeup at the hillary clinton campaign. >> yes, they are. and our exit polls show that one

of the top qualities that voters in that state wanted out of a candidate was for them to be honest and trustworthy and bernie sanders just took it almost all of it. >> and just add to this. you have the trustworthy problems with the e-mails and the fbi confirms there's an investigation to the server and goldman sachs, there's transcripts. it sounded like she was essentially is a shareholder, so instead of saying that, you know -- she said she took on goldman sachs, but it turns out she supported goldman sachs. >> that's according to one attend d atte attendee in politico. but they said if the transcripts were released it would bury her. you went to a trump watch party. what did you see? >> i saw people watching trump. i got to them just before he came out. tell you what, the atmosphere in the room over at the best western here in manchester was electric. why are they so -- such great

>> and there you can hear the beatles start their theme song "revolution." there was one last night. donald trump vindicated with that win, because the newspaper here in new hampshire endorsed chris christie over donald trump saying that donald trump had no business being in the race. christie got clobbered. donald trump went on to win by a very big margin. he is going to join us in about ten minutes right here on "fox & friends." >> absolutely. i have to say that i must -- he must have been crushed last week in iowa, and he was humble. this time he was happy and relieve and cited his parents, and making them proud as they look down on him. jeb bush is one of the people who did enough to have some momentum as he heads down south to south carolina where he's got at least a thousand volunteers and tens of millions of dollars.

he was with us earlier to shoot down a story that's been circulating that he is planning a scorched earth policy against kasich and rubio. listen. >> i read that memo. that was one of the politico stories that's just a bunch of you know what. i read that memo and there's nothing being prepared in scorched earth. this all the game that the pundits play. i'm going to lay out my case, why i'm the most qualified person to beat hillary clinton. we have candidates preying on people's fears but nothing in their background that could suggest they could solve the problem. i apply conservative principles to do that in tallahassee. >> and also on the program earlier, we had senator marco rubio. and he talked about his disappointing performance from the debate on saturday night after being unapologetic. he said that's why his numbers could not be where he wanted them to be and he pointed his finger at the media coverage. >> i felt bad, our supporters worked really hard.

our team here did a great job. to the extent that we finished shorter than we wanted to it, i think it had to with the last few days and the coverage. that's not going to happen again. we're headed to south carolina and getting back on the road here. we'll win this program and this primary and it's important for the country and i'm fired up for it. >> trey gowdy and senator tim scott to help him out in south carolina. two popular politician, steve. >> that's right. and unfortunately for marco rubio though, after his performance in the debate last weekend, here in new hampshire it started with the democrats. they started following him with somebody dressed in a marco roboto costume. it's dogged him. i'm sure that costume is being put into a case and they're shipping it to south carolina this morning. >> you see -- you know, the senator told you, i can name five lines that every candidate

quarter past the hour. we have been talking about trump and sanders' wins all morning, so why did voters vote the way they did? and what does it mean for north carolina and -- or south carolina that's coming up next. in super tuesday. >> and of course nevada for the democrats. here to break down the exit polls, so the first stop. why are they angry? >> so over 40% of people are angry, but 88% of the voters in new hampshire said they're either angry or disappointed in and how government is running right now. and the person who played best for that is trump. trump overwhelmingly took over people who are angry. with the government as it is

working. >> no surprise, cruz would be second. rubio, then kasich. >> next up, we have what voters were saying about how they prefer their candidates to be an outsider. >> absolutely. trump hands down, 61% went with trump. if you want an outsider. and it makes sense because people are disenfranchised, they're angry, they want somebody different than they have seen before. trump seems very different. and kasich came out in new hampshire as calm, reassuring, igniter and different than anybody else too. >> so does the candidate share the qualities and values that i have? >> 35% leading the polls, share my values that matters the most. and then can bring change at 28%. tells it like it is, i guess that's blunt speaking and win in november. >> shares my values is something that we have heard for years that people say is important to them. cruz and kasich won on that.

but can bring change, tells it like it is it's 100% for donald trump, not 100% in the polls but that's 52% of the vote that goes to trump and that's important to people right now. >> 24ethen on the democratic si something that killed hillary clinton is honest and trustworthiness and that was the top quality they were looking for. >> 91% of voters said they voted for sanders because he was honest and trustworthy, only 5% for hillary clinton. that's got to hurt her. as they're talking about shaking up her campaign she has to come one a message that's genuine. she has to some way that she can rebuild this because if you do not trust somebody you won't be energized to vote for her. >> why is the ability to win in november only 12%? >> they assume if the other things are there they'll win.

a good feeling. >> donald, let me ask you this. on the cover of the union leader here in new hampshire, that's a picture and it shows you and bernie sanders as the big winners. famously, the publisher of the union leader said donald trump -- in an op-ed, donald trump has no business being in this race and they endorsed chris christie. what's your message to the big publisher of the newspaper here in new hampshire after you clobbered the rest of the republicans? >> you know, he's a bad guy, he asked me for advertising for his newspaper. and he wanted me to make speeches and he wanted me to do his debate which was just before the fox debate. the one where you drew 24 million people the night before, i said i can't do that, i'm sorry. i thought it would have been ridiculous for me to do it. and other guys like jeb bush did it and made a total fool out of

with new hampshire win as mindless zombies turn out in droves. many have wondered if your enthusiasm from your crowds would turn into votes and it has. are headlines like this direct insults to your supporters to? >> the owner of the daily news -- i think it's out of business, they tried to sell it. people said you have to pay to buy it. in other words they had to pay them to buy it. it's going to be closing soon i'm pretty sure. the owner is called mort zuckerman who's got a total inferiority complex and he has for years. he's one of the guys -- they do that. he's jealous as hell, because he would have loved to have done it himself. it's another paper going down the tubes. they do the clown thing every week. maybe it sells, maybe it doesn't sell. but the paper is going bad. what can i tell you? >> so donald trump, word today that governor christie went home to think about where it goes from here. he had just about 8% of the

polls, a distant sixth. what are your thoughts about his candidacy and if he gets out, how do you feel he was as competitor? >> well, he's a friend of mine and he's a talented and a good guy. he called me last night. which was good, we talked for a while. he did a great job. he did an incredible job in the debate. and thankfully, i was standing right next to marco. i was watching chris. he really, you know, got a lot of talent. i don't know if he's getting out at all, i have no idea. but, you know, hey, look, i like everybody to get out. i want everybody to get out except for me. but frankly, chris is somebody that maybe wouldn't have to get out. i think -- i think somebody like jeb bush has far less talent than chris and he's still in. so, you know, it's one of those things. i'd love to -- in many respects i have to tell you, brian, i would love to see chris stay in. >> of course ultimately you would like to be the nominee. >> right. >> versus hillary clinton. hillary clinton got clobbered last night here in new hampshire.

what's your message, what's your analysis of what happened to her and can it happen elsewhere? >> well, i think she's lost a lot of confidence. i see that. and i don't know what's going on. you know, between the e-mails and now the politics and bernie who i think is not going to end up being a very good candidate in the general election. i think i'll take a lot of states away from him. a lot of states like new york state where i'd do very well. and places that the republicans know what the republican is going to get. i think we'll get michigan. i think we'll definitely get florida and we'll do fantastically. but hillary seems to have lost a lot of confidence. no question about it. i don't know, is she going to continue to run and if she continues to run, is she going do win? it doesn't seem to be going the right way at all. you know, the word momentum is very important. and certainly there's not a lot of momentum there. >> mr. trump, thank you so much for your time and again, congratulations on your big win, taking 35% of the vote in new

bush, maybe carly fiorina's kids. abby? >> it's funny sitting here with you two. there was an initial bond you feel with other people who have been through with this family. because there are emotions that very few people go through. yesterday in new hampshire it brought back so many memories of four years ago because i was on the trail with my own dad. and look, there are so many good memories. i love new hampshire, i loved getting to the people there. learning how a democracy works but now on the media side of things. we spend so much time talk about the poll numbers and critiquing every little thing about the candidate. as a child, your parent is always that perfect person in your eyes. they're your hero. so you see them in the moments where you want to protect them and you want to get upset with everyone putting them down and you can't do that. >> you have -- you feel the personal barbs and then the numbers come in and they're not great. do you remember that? >> >> i can remember being in south carolina and winning in south carolina and that was obviously an incredible

experience. for me, i think at of the fun was being out there with my family. my husband went with me and my sist sister kathy and i travelled all the time. >> and your cute kids. >> my cute kids. it's exhilarating and exhausting. >> what do you remember about it? >> mine was longer ago so i was more youthful at the time. but i remember it being incredibly exhilarating and challenging and exhausting. exhaustion is kind of the thing you always feel, but you have to keep going. you have adrenaline on your side. >> absolutely. when that movie came out about mitt romney and his family behind the scenes was released. wow, you saw the brothers and the sons, everyone kick in and feel it when mitt lost and came short. but in the big picture you had successes too. your dad was a governor. so you're used to winning. >> he was. that was one of the hardest things and probably being hardest for him as well. you go from being governor and ambassador and we're competing

because we believe so much in our dad. you're thinking, well, why is not everyone on board for this, why is everyone not voting for our dad? that's the best part of politics. i remember hanging out with jackie on the trail. people don't realize this, but families are friends. >> absolutely. >> they go against each other on debates and policy and messaging, but at the end of the day you bond over doing itting to. >> is it fun? >> it is fun. the time you spend together t memories i have with my sister because we'd travel together. when everything was said and done, we felt like we did everything we could for his campaign. we put everything on the table. we knew whatever happened was fine. >> real quick, when you know it was over, when your dad loses, when your dad -- >> that's the worst part. >> tell me about that. >> it's pretty awful. it's just -- you know, we knew going into it that it was very unlikely that my dad was going to win that election. but you have to buck yourself up and then when you finally realize in our case that afternoon that it is not going

you can see that right there. both were charged with criminal possession of a weapon. thousands of people on the nightmare cruise to the caribbean will finally get home tonight. remember this? well, that happening on board a royal caribbean ship. it sailed directly into a winter storm with 30 foot waves and hurricane force winds. that ship will later dock in new jersey today. a florida senator is now calling for an ntsb investigation into why it set sail into that part of the storm. a black lives matter activist and columnist is now crying foul over how peyton manning was treated by the media versus cam newton. panthers quarterback cam newton had been criticized for sulking during the press conference after he lost. remember he answered a few questions and then he took off. shawn king says this proves there's a racial double

standard, because back in 2010 manning left the field without shaking hands after losing in the super bowl. he said if manning were black he would have been attacked for that. and new e-mails are surfacing showing how hillary clinton bribes the press. e-mails show an exchange with one of her top aides felipe raines and a reporter. raines was asked for a copy of a speech and they say they could hand it over on three conditions. you, meaning the reporter in your own voice describe clinton's comments as quote muscular. well, the next one, that she be described as sitting in a position of power at the speech compared to men who were participating in it. and third, quote, don't say that you were blackmailed. wow. well, the journalist delivered a nice, positive spin in that article. and if you want to see how that
