tv The O Reilly Factor FOX News March 3, 2016 11:00pm-12:01am PST
11:00 pm
thanks for joining us. i'm going to go party with these guys. have a good night. >> since i'm live at 11:00 i don't know this guy following me around all day. we're standing here, you're not going to be taller than me. the debate? . >> i thought they did a good job. i enjoyed it. it was tough, but fair. >> what is your main competition going forward? >> no. no. stop. stop. >> ted cruz seems to have, he's second, of quite a distance away. he's second. marco would be third, the governor, fourth. >> do you think that is the way it's going to shape? >> that is the way it is now. it can change rapidly. >> you look tired. are you tired? >> no. >> romney hit you hard today.
11:01 pm
are you surprised? >> he's a failed candidate. >> i know. are you surprised? >> he did a horrible job, he wants to become relevant again. four years ago i supported him and helped him. he let us down. he knows i feel it. he felt it. he said that. i think my retort is far stronger than his, if you look on twitter and what's happening, i think he made a fool of himself if you want to know the truth. >> why do you think he did it? >> because i think he's a jealous guy and would like to run but didn't have the guts to run this time. but probably should have. i don't think he would have done well and i told him he was a joke artist. >> do you think he's angling to get into the convention if you don't have delegates? >> he would be beaten so badly by hillary clinton your head will spin. he doesn't have it. >> when you hear guys like romney and there are not a few of them, there are many of them in your party.
11:02 pm
>> right. >> why do you think you engender so much loathing from them? >> and love, and love. >> you have plenty of die hard supporters. >> 55%. a big, big portion, about 50. i will tell you a tremendous amount of the party loves what we're doing. millions of people are joining the republican party. >> you have a lot of detractors and people like romney. >> i think once it's over, people are going to get along with me well. i'm very much a yunifier. >> romney feels you're a danger. >> i don't think that at all. >> do you think he's a phony? >> yes. i would say mostly contrived. i think he feels badly about his poor run, should have won that election, went way for final
11:03 pm
four weeks. >> why would he come out now? >> i was hitting him hard. he is a choke artist. the worst guy we have could be him. >> just jealous? >> he went to see jeb bush. >> you told that story in may. just jealously? . >> i don't know what it is. you have to ask him. but i think he made a fool out of himself. >> your supporters are going to stay with you. he's not going to change their mind. but you need to get on our calculations about 30 million people who are not supporting you know to support you to defeat hillary clinton. >> i think i'm going to defeat hillary because we're going to win michigan. we might win new york. i have a different calculus. i'm going to win pennsylvania, and ohio, i'm going to win florida. florida is my second home.
11:04 pm
we're going to win places nobody else is going to win and add states nobody else can think of. >> the downside is that democrats are going to come over and look, you saw what happened with your guys tonight. the republican party. the trump university stuff. the flip flopping on issues. the campaign support for carter and these people. that is going to be in play. >> i have 49% in the polls, nobody is even close. i'm at 49, they're at 15. so you know, you can bring up, why don't you bring up a few more things. >> it's my job. come on. >> yes. it's called politics and i'm fine with it. if you look at what i've done, i've built an unbelievable company. you know that. i know that. most of the people know that. i have buildings all over the world, job going up all over the world. very few people have built a company like i have built a company. >> are you getting mad at guys like me when you ask negative questions.
11:05 pm
>> i do think you have become negative. >> me? why? >> i don't know that. you have to ask your psychiatrist. >> toward you? >> yes. >> do you know milania? >> yes. your better half, it's not even close. >> i think i have been very fair to you, very fair. >> fair, but you get carried away with yourself. >> do you want to give me an example? >> no. >> we're just finished a teen yat when i hear i just won based on polls. i won a lot of debates but i really had a good time tonight. >> all right. >> and when you're thinking ahead, i was surprised to hear you say you're going to support, if they give you -- the under table thing, at the convention, so you're coming in with not enough delegates, okay, and they don't give you the nomination though you have the popular vote by far, are you going to accept that? >> i don't want to run as an independent. i love the republican party.
11:06 pm
it has been pretty nice to me. >> i know you well, though. >> the people, have you to remember, i brought a lot of, i brought millions of people into the republican party. that is why we're doing so well. but the best chance of winning is for me to run as a republican. i will beat hillary clinton. these people will not beat hillary. >> okay. so you're going to, if they give you the run around, if they do bad things to you at the convention, it's possible? >> it's always possible. the best chance of winning is to win as a republican. run as a republican, and win. and i am far head of everybody. i'm leading by a lot. and i think we're going to do very well over the next two weeks, also. and people were surprised at the amount of victory and the size of the victory. even you were surprised. >> i wasn't surprised. come on. >> we're going to have other super tuesdays. >> from the very begin, i understood your appeal. yes. milania. did you see the numbers on
11:07 pm
milania? on greta last night? maybe she runs for vp. >> good idea. >> all right. >> she's did a great job. >> it's nice of you to lead off the factor at 11:00. if i'm unfair, you come me and give it to me, man. >> thank you. >> thank you. >> so what we're going to do now is run back up to the set. and i we're going to talk to marco rubio, then, ted cruz and then, we're going to do john kasich, then, goldberg and dana perino. that coming up as the factor continues live from detroit. and can you explain why you recommend synthetic over cedar? "super food?" is that a real thing? it's a great school, but is it the right one for her?
11:08 pm
is this really any better than the one you got last year? if we consolidate suppliers, what's the savings there? so should we go with the 467 horsepower? ...or is a 423 enough? good question. you ask a lot of good questions... i think we should move you into our new fund. sure... ok. but are you asking enough about how your wealth is managed? wealth management at charles schwab.
11:10 pm
being hacked and intellectual property being stolen. that is cyber-crime and it affects each and every one of us. microsoft created the digital crimes unit to fight cyber-crime. we use the microsoft cloud to visualize information so we can track down the criminals. when it comes to the cloud, trust and security are paramount. we're building what we learn back into the cloud to make people and organizations safer.
11:11 pm
for the last year, donald trump mocked everybody with personal attacks. he's done so about people on this stage, and people that are disabled. and if anyone deserves to be attacked that way, it's donald trump. for the way he's treated people. >> we continue now with this live post debate factor. pleased to have senator marco rubio. are you surprised that donald trump still is leading after all of the incoming he has taken? mitt romney today, john mccain, and he wasn't happy to hear it. a lot of people don't like him, are you surprised he still leads? >> he's been very good at dominating media. you look at the coverage. the head of cbs, that donald trump might not be good for america but is good for cbs so i think that factors into this.
11:12 pm
>> new, people are starting to pay attention. and he's a charming guy. you can see why he gets so much attention. he's funny and has one liners but we're talking about the presidency of the united states here, he had no serious solution, he was exposed with a graph that show numbers don't add up on the debt, no solutions on foreign policy, only reaction was to attack me as little marco. >> and you know they're going to strt to realize that? >> i do. i do. and i hope so for the sake of our republic. because it's very important. this is the most important election in the generation the world is growing incredibly dangerous, we're reminded of that again tonight for what's happening in north korea. you can't elect someone that says i'll get there and figure it out. >> you might remember, north korea, the crazy dictator says he's arming his nuclear devices i'm amazed that donald trump's support is so rock solid.
11:13 pm
this cnn poll is very high for him. i don't think people are going to give him up no matter what you say or mitt romney says or what i say. and i'm fair to trump. but thaey're not going to give him up. >> in virginia we finished almost tied. >> you would have won if kasich hadn't been there. >> that is what it is. look. he taps to anger but has done this his whole career. he tells what you want to hear. in this case, it's not signing up for trump university but to give him your vote and become the president of the most important country on the planet. this process will continue, i believe the more voters begin to learn about the lack of policy, tonight, i think he'll be held to account for some of that. >> do you have the time, well, florida on the 15th, you've got to win florida.
11:14 pm
you're going to have to spend time there, and money. $25 million? is that true? >> no. we're not, i don't know the answer to that to be honest with you. of course we're going to spend money. it's an important state. we're going to win florida. >> how do you know? >> i won there before. i know how people are going to vote there. >> what about the polls? >> i can guarantee you that public poll is not accurate. >> it's close. florida is a collection of people from all over the country. it's a swing state for a reason. >> what are you going to hit in florida? florida is an interesting state. a lot of people from other states go to florida. no state income tax and they're residents now, in florida. that is the theme in florida that is going to allow you to overtake donald trump? >> have you people coming to get away from what is wrong from nowhere else. people getting away from
11:15 pm
incompetent and broken government. people coming from other countries to get away from that as well, it's an are understanding of how important and unique america is and how important it is to lose something like that with the wrong leadership. we want to remind people of what is at stake in this election. talk about we're going to continue to talk about policy. didn't get a lot of media attention. and i asked people to go to mar mar marcorubio.com. what donald trump says he's going to do for america is what he has been telling people he's going to do for them in the business career. >> do you regret the school boy stuff with trump? the wet pants and stuff? >> no. if anyone deserves to be hit for that, it's him. >> you know what i say on this program? i'm sure you watch every night? bad behavior doesn't justify other bad behavior.
11:16 pm
>> if i don't do it, i don't want to say anything that jesus wouldn't be proud of to be honest of you, or my kids would look at. if anyone deserves to be hit that way, you know donald insulted everybody you can imagine, disabled people. >> we're talking about you now. >> there is a long list of personal attack that's could be made about you. >> are you going to continue to do that? >> our plan is to run our campaign. we're going to continue to talk about what he's doing now with the conjob and the scam he's trying to pull off. he's trying to owe do to the american voter what he did to the people at trump university. . >> i don't know if it's going to work. >> this is the most amazing campaign i've ever covered. i've done this for 35 years and have never seen anything like this. between hillary and whoever you
11:17 pm
guys are going to win, it's going to be unbelievable there, too. senator, wish you the best, thank you for walking here and talking to us. see you down the road. >> thank you. >> next up we're going to have ted cruz, then john kasich, then i think we should've taken a left at the river. tarzan know where tarzan go! tarzan does not know where tarzan go. hey, excuse me, do you know where the waterfall is? waterfall? no, me tarzan, king of jungle. why don't you want to just ask somebody? if you're a couple, you fight over directions. it's what you do. if you want to save fifteen percent or more on car insurance, you switch to geico. oh ohhhhh it's what you do. ohhhhhh! do you have to do that right in my ear?
11:20 pm

11:21 pm
durability today? you know? romney hit him. mccain hit him. lindsey graham hit him. he just doesn't seem to falter. does that surprise you? >> well, listen a year ago, no one predicted the trajectory of the race. we have seen the field whittling dramatically. we're down to four on the stage and i think super tuesday narrowed the field more than that. you're right, trump has a base of support, probably 20% to 25% he put it he could go out and shoot someone and they'd still follow his lead. >> but do you seem surprised about that? i think his support is 35%. >> it's a little bit celebrity, it's a little bit pizazz. >> i'm surprised. >> i think he has a ceiling of
11:22 pm
35% to 40%. it's why i think super tuesday is so important. five of the 15, we're the only one that has beaten him over and over again. and the way, you know, folks at home don't want to see donald trump as nominee, that is about 65% of republicans. we're seeing more of them joining our campaign. people supporting jeb bush and chris christie joining our campaign. >> the polls don't reflect that, yet, senator. >> but super tuesday polls did. >> in conservative states because you're a conservative senator. >> we beat him in iowa, texas, oklahoma, alaska and minnesota. >> rubio won minnesota but you came in second. >> right. >> the trump phenomenon seems to have changed politics. would you say it's changed it?
11:23 pm
let me tell you how. half of the debate tonight was zinging trump. half of the debate. >> he has a ton of momentum. and his personality is loud and flamboyant, it changes the conversation. the voters are asking who do i trust? who is capable of doing that job? >> i don't know if they're asking that or not. they're overwhelmed by the emotion they told. >> i think two thirds of the party recognizes the nominating donald trump would be a disaster, we'd get clobbered. >> do you believe that? >> yes. >> do you believe if trump is the nominee in cleveland, he gets his butt kicked by hillary clinton? >> a cnn poll shows him losing eight points and they haven't touched him. there is so much negative, the
11:24 pm
media is treating him -- >> whoever they nominate is going to have to beat hillary clinton. >> yes. yes. >> how would hillary clinton with scandal around her, all right, whether fair or not? >> i think donald may be the only person on earth that hillary clinton could beat in a general election. >> why couldn't trump convince these people to go with him, not her? >> 60% of the people have a negative view of donald now. >> what you have to do is substance. part of the problem is that donald agreed on issue after issue. >> does he change? >> he does change. what people don't like about hillary is that she changes and is not telling the truth. we give that advantage way if they we nominate someone who does the same thing, one
11:25 pm
stunning moment is when donald trump turned to marco rubio saying you have to negotiate and i agree what he did with the gang of eight. >> do you think donald trump is an honest man? you're portraying him as a conman, a grifter. is he honest or not? >> i think he believes what he is saying. >> do you think trump is >> i t opposite things in a win and believe both of them. if you put a lie detector on and say it is hot and cold in the same minute and pass both ways. trump is tapped into the frustration with politicians who don't tell us the truth and don't do what they say. and donald embodies that. he said after i'm elected he said he'd be a different person, he would be the most politically
11:26 pm
correct person. >> i don't think he's going to change his policies he does it over and over. >> so you do not think he is dishonest? >> i think he is using rhetoric that he doesn't believe and it's inconsistent. >> so he's a phony? you say he's fighting for the men and women of the country? >> he's never done it. i'm never going to speak to the argument between him and god. i can tell you his rhetoric doesn't match up with his record. the easiest proof of this is the "new york times" tape. if he told them he wasn't telling the truth. >> i have known him for 30 years, i think he's an honest man but like most politicians, he wants to get elected. >> the difference with me, i'm the same when i'm running for office and when i'm in office, the reason why we have so much support is that i do what i say. you know exactly what you're getting with me. >> all right. >> so it's a no-spin campaign to
11:27 pm
put it in your terms. >> we'll see you down the road and appreciate you coming in and we'll have john kasich up next we'll have john kasich up next yes, we are twins. when i went on to ancestry, i just put in the name of my parents and my grandparents. i was getting all these leaves and i was going back generation after generation. you start to see documents and you see signatures of people that you've never met. i mean, you don't know these people, but you feel like you do. you get connected to them. i wish that i could get into a time machine and go back 100 years, 200 years and just meet these people. being on ancestry just made me feel like i belonged somewhere. discover your story. start searching for free now at ancestry.com.

>> this has been going on for a long time here and i appreciate the discussion back and forth, but there are people out there yearning for someone who is going to bring america back both in a leadership level and in the neighborhood where we can reignite the spirit of the united states of america. and let's stop fighting. >> all right. we're continuing now from detroit, after the great debate, the 11th republican debate. we have governor john kasich. you should sub for me on the factor. >> before i got my strength. >> you are far and away the best on policy.
11:33 pm
the most experienced and you're not feeling the burn and you're not feeling the anger. that is what held you back in my opinion. am i wrong? >> no. i do feel it because i grew up in it. >> but you're not getting into the folks. >> you have to come to a town hall and see. this debate format is something i've struggled with. people can't see me. it's like they put you in a straight jacket. >> you come across as a cerebral guy. >> the town halls are the most emotional things going in the campaign. >> you know what i'm talking about. >> i'm in the going to scream and yell, bill. it's not what lifting me. people say you're the adult in the room. look. i got no coverage from the time i announced in new hampshire, i got no coverage. >> you got no coverage tonight. first half hour of the debate we saw you twice.
11:34 pm
but the reason is because you're not exciting. exciting out there. rubio and trump calling each other names, right? >> yes. yes. >> referring to various body parts. and you have cruz calling a guy a gangster, trump, then, you are saying you know? i worked with president reagan and we balanced a budget. who are they going to put on tv? >> but, bill, you know what one of the executives in broadcasting said we used to believe in freedom of the press, now, we believe in freedom of the purse. i did your show almost ten years. i got good numbers, not by yelling and screaming. and i think when i win ohio, when i will do, then it's a new ball game. >> you win ohio and get delegates, right?
11:35 pm
okay? and rubio says he's going to win florida. >> okay. we'll see if he does. >> do you think he will? >> i don't know. >> you take from rubio. >> no. no. >> if you weren't in virginia, he would have won. >> you go down and find out where voters are, i get people to think it's between me and trump. do you know why? people do have a sense i get them. >> you have to win here, though. >> no. i don't have to win michigan. i have to have a decent showing. and i'm going to win ohio. then, pennsylvania and illinois. look. you guys counted me out from day one. >> i didn't say you won't get in. >> but i won't get to new hampshire, i'd run out of money. >> i didn't say that. >> i won't do well in new hampshire. >> i said it won't be your time in history because of the anger of the voter. >> let me tell you this.
11:36 pm
you don't beat trump by getting into an insult war with him. >> you don't think so? >> no. i think the only way is to have a vision bigger than his and be able to show your experience and accomplishments will pull people out. >> it hasn't happened for you thus far. >> well, it's a long way to go. we're not done yet. i move ohio, we're probably going to ind up in a convention, then, they're going to pick an adult. not a yeller. >> that is what it looks like now. >> would you take vp? >> no, way. i have the second best job in the country, as governor. i once had the third best, host of the factor. >> you're doing a great job in your home state of ohio. you know your policy. i'm glad you're running. >> people are watching the factor if you like john kasich, make it known and tell o'reilly,
11:37 pm
11:38 pm
[bassist] two late nights in tucson. blew an amp.but good nights. sure, music's why we do this, but it's still our business. we spend days booking gigs, then we've gotta put in the miles to get there. but it's not without its perks. like seeing our album sales go through the roof enough to finally start paying meg's little brother- i mean, our new tour manager-with real, actual money. we run on quickbooks.that's how we own it.
11:40 pm
>> i happened to call him a light weight and i have said that. i would like to take that back. he is not that much of a light weight. and i have to say this. i have to say this. he hit my hands. look at those hands are are they small hands? and, he referred to my hands if they're small, something else must be small. i guarantee you there is no problem, i guarantee it. >> we continue now with post
11:41 pm
debate analysis and joining us from miami, bernard goldberg. i don't have questions for you. you heard the debate. you heard me with all of the candidates. so let it fly. >> i liked, i'd like to talk about the sound byte you just played leading into this segment. donald trump said something that i can't say on this channel what he really meant when he talked about the size of a particular body part. because that would be vulgar. but donald trump said it. i can't say it. but donald trump said it. and he is running for president of the united states. and he didn't only say it on national television, he said it during a presidential debate. bill, i know you care about kids. you talked about that a lot. imagine if a family isñi watchi this debate with their 12-year-old daughter and she said what did he mean by that?
11:42 pm
about size and there is no problem? is there anything that would embarrass his supporters on conservative television and radio who have fallen madly in love with donald trump and slobber over him in just the same way as liberals in the media slobbered over barack obama? >> all right. i see it differently. i didn't take offense by it. i think trump is doing what he always does, appealing to regular people, playing off the rubio thing f you're going to criticize trump, you have to criticize rubio. >> do you realize what he said? >> of course i realize what he did. but it was done in a jocular way. i know what he is doing. and all of the guys and gals who support him chortled when he
11:43 pm
said it. >> he's running for president. he's running for president. >> it's a different era. it's a different time. he's running as a populist. not a republican or democrat. >> how come you're so concerned about the coarsening of the culture? >> i am and i told him. >> you don't care about this? >> he saw what trump said to me. i'm a negative guy in his mind. i probably won't even get him to come in anymore because i have challenged him on his demeanor, all right? i have. but i'm fair. i didn't think that was that big a deal. now, let's go on, and right.e1 we want disagreement. who do you think won the debate? >> well, i think, i think at least three of the candidates at
11:44 pm
their worst were better than hillary clinton at her best. and you know, i thought rubio was very good. i think you're right in what you said to governor kasich. just minutes ago that he's not feeling the burn and he's too cerebral. that is interesting because william buckney wouldn't win because he's too cerebral and and this is the time for barnum and bailey and not cerebral. you left out -- >> i spent time in donald trump
11:45 pm
in scotland. he was as gracious as can be. half of the story i did was negative and he was still gracious. i met two of his grown up children. the nicest kids you'll ever meet. so you set me up today that he is a different person when he is not campaigning i believe you. because i have seen that other person. and if he acted that way -- >> he's under siege, and i understand why he feels everybody is negative toward him. but i've got to do my job. i want to get this. you live in florida. you know the state as well as any human being in this country. rubio says he's going to win. rub yes has to win. will rubio win? >> as of today? i don't think so. this trump, this trump is a train that is going down the tracks at a thousand miles per hour and things can change. things can change in politics. you know?
11:46 pm
a day is a week. a week is a lifetime. and rubio might win, but if he doesn't, i'll repeat what a million others have said, it's probably over for him. as of today, i say trump is going to win. >> all right. bernie goldberg, everybody. we appreciate it. i appreciate you staying up late, bernie. i know you're in bed by 9:00. it's nice of you to be here. >> dana perino is up until 1:00, 2:00, in the morning is on deck and we'll be right back from detroit, michigan.
11:49 pm
11:50 pm
marco. i will. >> let's see, big donald.q >> don't worry about it, little marco. this guy absentee record in the united states -- that is why the government in florida do not like him. >> we continue now with the post debate analysis. trump, i've got to say, i have to say i have been doing this a long time. all right? i've been in journalism a long time and never, ever seen anything like this. very hard to cover this race in a way that is fair and gives you the right perspective, right, from where i sit. because i understand why these guys are doing what they're doing. i understand it. let's bring in dana perinoñi whi believe understands it as well to wrap things up for us.
11:51 pm
the tail for me tonight is john kasich who is far and away the best person not only in the republican sweep stakes, but in the country now. he is. if you look at his experience level, and in congress, what he's done, okay. but he's just not tapping in to what the voters want. they don't care as i told bernie goldberg, if you make a crude comment or if you call someone names. they want an avenger in there. i don't think that is going to change, do you? >> i don't think that is true. there are people that care about the crude comments. and i do think there is a way to cover this fairly. i happened to love the debate. i love being an observer and reminded how much easier it is to be an observer than
11:52 pm
participant. i think we can say good things about the moderators and the way fox conducted this debate. even people like nicholas kristoff, a liberal guy, said this was a tough debate and was very fair so moderators should get credit for that. i do think it was more substantive and john kasich had a chance to shine for the first time in one of these debates because you only had four people. >> one, we expect wallace, kelly, and baer because they're always good. i don't need brownie points from anyone in this stage of my career. i have never seen them when they're not good. but you're right, they were good. and kasich made his points. he's a little repetitive but a little cliche ridden at the end
11:53 pm
of the day. i tell you, dana, i don't think we're going to see in the polls, i think 15 million people watched tonight. yes, i think he will win the state of ohio. >> i don't think people were saying that last week. >> maybe not. but the point i'm trying to get across to you and everybody is that this year is different than any other year in our republic. all right? >> no doubt. >> it's different. there is an uprising in this country. now, the point of the matter is how big is the uprising? trump needs, as i told them, 25 million to convince he doesn't have yet. you -- he has to get 60 million to win. he's got maybe 30 on his team. but you know, you've got a flawed candidate up against him, it's not going to be sanders. it's hillary, who is very whip
