julie banderas is up next and bill and martha will start our election coverage from the caucus in the state. we'll see you tomorrow noon eastern. >> maine wrapping up the republican caucus and we'll bring you news from that as it breaks. i am gile banderas and you are watching the fox report. five states holding the caucuses and primaries. voters in kansas, nebraska, kentucky and louisiana and maine make their choice for the party's nomination. cruz won big in the state of kansas. take a look here at what is at stake.

155 on the gop side. republican candidates spent the day and making a push for final votes to come in and we have fox team coverage for you. live in louisiana, polls will close and we'll go to molly line live in louis town. and we await the votes there. the counting is under way. 22 regional sites where republicans gathered to participate in caucusing and they are close now and counting is underway and we'll hear final results tonight. i hear officials expect to report record turn out and doubling or tripling the previous year participation. they printed 80000 ballot to just be safe and turn out was little more than 6000 people.

and they initiated a history change this year and shifted from the not so distant past. and they could take a ballot and cast the vote for the white house. and then they leave. and one party official told me they easily will be the 2012 record, julie. >> what do voters there have to say today? >> it was a great busy day. we kicked off in the caucus location. it was busy and steady throughout the day. take a listen to the voters. >> ben carson was my first choice. but cruz supports the constitution and some of the things that donald trump agrees with, but i am not sure i trust him. >> donald trump. i want him to punish washington

they are fighting for 46 candidates. doug is live in new orleans. doug, we hear rubio made a last-minute decision to cancel a rally there last night. what is that about? >> he went to kansas where he received the endorsement of governor brownbag. and bob deal. it was not a fruitful trip. it looks like ted cruz is the winner in kansas tonight and probably the dominant. cruz tore in to donald trump for what is a self professed flexibility. >> how many of you watched the debate last night? did you know how many times donald would be flexible. over and over again he said he

would be flexibility. let me tell you something, in washington d.c. flexible is codeword for get ready. >> cruz is banking on a win as he moves on to the all win or take all states of florida with 99 delegates and to that end cruz is moving staffers to florida and opening up 20 satellite offices there and the attention to take rubio out from one donald trump takes him out from the other end. >> we have had one of the greatest things to happen. millions of people are are going out to vote that never gave a dam before. if you look at what's happened it doesn't where.

you can't just walk in. you don't have to caucus in three hours and it is like a primary caucus blend. but ted cruz is appearing to have a good night. and donald trump at 36.6. and interesting thing about maine, it is it moderate republican and inland area that is trump country. and so we'll see how it works out with 12 percent in right now. >> talking kentucky. this is the state's very first caucus. and this is the caucus that shut down in 4:00 and there were lines of people. and voters were turned around. what is going on in kentucky. >> they changed the schedule for kentucky. but because rand paul paid for the caucus so they could maintain a sentencing and still run for the white house. in kentucky right now, there is about seven percent reporting right now.

and there are your numbers. trump has a lead by sen or ted cruz and rubio down the line and along with john kasich right there. and the theme to this point in the evening. ted cruz is having a great day and advantage in maine. and we have a ways to go. results in kentucky and primary in louisiana. they are all closed events today. and there will be a lot of talk on whether or not an open talk versus a closed contest favorses donald trump. it doesn't a pore that marco rubio is having a great day. >> not so far. and you have to ask the question tonight. this is the first primary we had since romney and the ramp up never trump movement they are trying to have. and one other thing in kansas. turn out in 2012 was 23000.

the number of those who love them and you take don ad trump and put him up against hillary clinton, are we going to see republicans heading to the poll ps that are against donald trump or those hillary clinton . american voters don't vote against something. they turn out to vote for something. if hillary is relying on the anti- trump vote they at a home. and millennials excited about bernie sand is sand when he is not the the nominee. it will be difficult to get them out. this is what is difficult with mitt romney. don't ask people to vote against something and they don't. and this is a problem with the democrats, if they are looking for a trump antivote that is a problem. >> how much are the republicans
