life after retiring to california until 949 when the president revealed he had alzheimer's disease a battle he would lose 10 years later. >> it was as she described a long good-bye. how difficult it was for her. i think she preserved his dignity. part of her legacy. >> nancy lived quietly after her husband's passing appearing in events honoring her husband. >> the statue is a wonderful likeness of ronny, and he would be so proud. >> he, proud of her. while the woman the secret service called rainbow is now gone, her time as first lady remains an indell gibl part not only to the country but to her husband. >> the exact schedule hasn't been released to the press.

she has a burial site right next to her husband. she was part of the wounded warrior project and different groups would have events here mrs. reagan would show up. more recently her health had been failing. in lieu of flowers they ask that money be given to the ronald reagan presidential library in lieu of flowers. we have been hearing of others who knew the family well. th the bushes said laura and i are saddened by the loss of nancy reagan. she was fiercely loyal to her beloved husband and that devotion was matched only by her husband to her country. her influence on the white house

was complete and lasting. when we moved into the white house we benefited from her work to make the historic rooms beautiful. that's what george w. bush said of the former first lady. even in recent years after the president passed you would still see her in southern california specifically here at the library. we heard from arnold schwarzenegger the former governor of california also an actor like her husband who became the governor of california. he said this after the death of nancy reagan yesterday. take a listen. >> she was one of the greatest first ladies. extraordinary human being. such a wonderful partner to her husband, president reagan, who was without any doubt one of the greatest presidents in the history of the united states. and i know she will join him now in heaven and this love affair

we are live in washington, d.c. >> after not winning any states on super saturday marco rubio really needed a win he got one yesterday in puerto rico. >> it's a primary where any one can vote, not just republicans and democrats i got over 70 percent of the vote not because i became less conservative because i took our conservative principles to people who are living the way i grew up. >> rubio is still way behind in terms of delegates after winning kentucky and louisiana trump has 384 delegates cruz took can success and maine bringing his total to 300 while rubio has 151 kasich 37. trump and cruz are calling for a two man race. they spent their time on political shows saying maybe it is time for rubio and kasich to drop out. >> i would prefer if it cleans

up but either way it will be interesting. florida will be interesting. michigan will be interesting coming up. we have some interesting -- you will have high ratings because you have very interesting places. and indeed tomorrow 150 republican delegates are up for idaho, mississippi and michigan. michigan the biggest prize of 59 republican delegates on the line. latest polls took a commanding lead in that state. he's up 19 points according to a wall street journal poll. trump up 31 percent cruz 22 rubio 17 and kasich 13. he picked up an encoursement of arnold schwarzenegger. it will be difficult for either of them to catch up to trump or cruz in terms of delegates. >> we will know very soon. kristin fisher live for us. thank you. a faceoff on the democratic

>> the news of nancy reagan's death making headlines around the globe and scoring an outpouring of affection toward the former first lady. one of those who knew her well was reagan historian and author of "last act" the final years an emerging legacy of ronald reagan craig shirley. he joins us for more insight. thank you for joining us this morning first of all. so i was listening to some of the stories as they were told over and over yesterday and the overwhelming theme obviously is one of a great love story. what can you tell us about that? >> well, they met in 1949. they were pretty much smitten with each other. the marriage lasted over 50

years. it rivalled that of the washingtons and adams. he wrote her often when he was away from her. he would write letters and put pictures of himself with tears streaming down his face. maybe the job in washington wouldn't be so bad because you would be right up stairs. they were soul mates and best friends, husband and wife. they were happy alone together. they could make themselves happy alone together at the ranch or horse back riding or canoeing or at camp david. he was a better candidate. she was a boulder for him. >> you can tell he cherished her so much. she also changed the way that we look at the role of first lady today, didn't she? >> i think so.

she updated it but she also held to traditional values. i would say she was somewhere between eleanor roosevelt and maybe eisenhower. she restored the dignity and class and style of the white house. but also she embarked obviously out of her own causes as first lady starting with eleanor roosevelt. nancy's was just say no. also vietnam returning pow's but also later obviously she raised millions for alzheimer's research and through herself into that and the alzheimer's foundation. there was another thing chocolates and whit and humility. >> in her campaign she used to travel with the press corps. they would gladly eat them and

they did her husband nearly 12 years ago. hard to believe it has been that long. she will be laid to rest next to him over looking the valley in seem me valley. a beautiful location. they haven't given us the exact date yet. we expect to hear that today. we are hearing from family and friends as you might image. the president's daughter first lady's daughter patsy reagan released a statement which says in part, i appreciate the intention and prayers of people i will probably never meet. just when my father died there was comfort and feelings surrounded by gentle thoughts and kind wisheses often sent out by a stranger. there were millions of strangers who looked upon this couple, looked upon the first lady with such admiration. we know people that spent a lot of time with her, people at the reagan library. this was something she poured her heart into before the president's passing and even afterwards. melissa giller is whun who worked with the foundation for a long time. here's her memories for nancy and her love for her husband.

>> they were always holding hands and gazing adoringly at each other's eyes. they had something we all wish we had and now she is with him again. >> you know, that love that everybody talks about i have to tell you, i personally saw it a couple of times. we were here covering a story, it has been at least 10 years when they released the love letters between nancy and ronald reagan at the time the president passed more than 12 years they had the restaurant where they met and had gone to after they got married. it was here as well. she walked right up to her camera at one point after looking at the letters and turned to me, he was amazing, wasn't he? you can see the love her in eyes back then. this is something when you see it first hand, as a being away from the television set it is something you really grasp when you get a chance to see her in person. it is something a lot of people look up to by all intents people who have het mher will hill you

welcome back. listen to this -- two volunteer firefighters suspended for breaking the rules saving a toddler's life. >> sparking outrage. w we have details. >> reporter: an anonymous emt worker who believes the firefighters did the right thing has posted a facebook page in support of the two suspended firefighters from virginia. the facebook page is called reinstate our heroes stafford. the woman who posted the page to seek help for the firefighters. she talks now. >> i feel that it's wrong to punish someone for doing the right thing that very possibly saved the child's life. >> actually, that wasn't the woman but one of the supporters.

the two volunteer firefighters, captain james kelly and sergeant virgil bloom, responded to the emergency call saturday about a child having a seizure. >> fire truck, the gentleman handed me his child. at this point, she was completely limp and flaccid. i turned around, i looked at my driver without hesitation and i said, turn around, we're going to the hospital. >> their quick actions helped save the girl's life. the county suspended them for using their fire truck, a non-transport unit, without the proper restraints and medications that medic units usually have. the parents of the toddler expressed their gratitude in a letter saying they appreciate the firefighters' help. the little girl is doing quite well, and the stafford, virginia, fire chief says he supports the two firefighters 100%, saying he would have done the same thing, breaking protocol to save a life. >> i agree with that. good for the firefighters.
